Dimensional Doors is still, to this day, the fucking CREEPIEST mod ever made.
definetly up there with thaumcraft, witchcraft and the deep dark mod
@Praecantetia by witchcraft do you mean Witchery
@@Praecantetia thaumcraft sadly sucks nowadays. for some reason, the creator decides to redo the whole mod into a new concept every update without even finishing it once. old thaumcraft was so fun but now most people, including me just find it meh :/
@@logictom7254if i remember correctly thaumcraft is now being remade by cofh devs cuz the og dev is busy and basically stepped away from mod making
I remember playing it on my elder brother's PC (in a modpack) and I found a door on the moon (from Galacticraft iirc) and when I stepped inside - uh.... I kinda quit because of those red eyes (I don't remember much but I'm 90% sure that was this mod)
- Opens a youtube video about forgotten dimension mods
- Looks inside
- One of minecraft's most famous mods of all time
Half of the damn video too
its popular and famous but forgotten
Till the new update I totally forgot about it.
The other two mods are also still in development with current versions, so actually none of the mods in this video are forgotten.
I understand where you're coming from, but there was a few factors that made me decide to include it regardless of its current relevancy.
Even though its one of the most popular mods made, a huge portion of the player base has never touched it, and probably never would've if it wasn't just recently updated (an update that came out not long after I finished writing the initial script of the video). At the time of scripting the video, hardly anyone was actually talking about what the Aether mod included, rather any discussion would just be thinking back on its existence or referencing it through memes.
My thought process behind "forgotten" wasn't necessarily "mods that no one remembers at all because they were hardly significant", but more "mods that once were a staple to mod the game with that have now fallen out of the public interest". Of course with the re-release of the Aether on current versions, it's not as forgotten in that sense as it was, but it's impact on the modding scene and relevancy to the topic made it a priority to cover in my mind at the time :))
@@viorp5267 At the time tropicraft was pretty popular too. Not as popular as the other two though.
I love how your character is just chilling in the water. It's a nice touch
Hehe thats pretty cool
THIS!!! I LOVE IT
When?

Current main developer of Dimensional Doors here. I just was made aware of your video. The segment of Dimensional Doors was nice and I like your style of animated character.
I just wanted to clarify a few things that are different in the most recent versions.
- Most doors can be placed directly on a rift as they all can have a dimensional door variant.
- Gold doors no longer give you a dungeon. Its was debug way to test dungeons easier. The dungeon door is now a stone door.
- We have a crafting block for a lot of items and block called the Tessellating Loom.
There is a lot more planned and has been for years!
Oh and here is probably the best part for pack creators. Almost EVERYTHING is datapackable. The functionality of doors, dungeons, and even limbo decay. Still need on guides for this stuff though.
PS: I have two youtube accounts due to google+ splitting accounts and I was on this one. My other one has previews for some cool of the cool stuff including and old WIP version of the Tesselating Loom I mentioned.
@@waterpicker6879 good to find the actual dev of this mod here, is there any way to add or access more dimensions, i also never seem to get the quartz door dye feature to work, i always seem to get the same few dimensions with 1 or 2 unique ones, is this how it should be or do i keep doing something wrong
I love your pfp 🥰
Thats really cool to see you here, and thank you for watching! I love the work your doing with keeping the mod alive :))
@waterpicker6879
Ayy! Since you're the main dev, I might as well make you aware of what @DonnaPinciot has said in the comments already.
They mentioned that they miss a previous feature of the Rift Blade.
I'll go ahead and paste a section of their comment here:
~
For Dimensional Doors, I miss the original function of the Rift Blade.
It let you charge to open a temporary rift anywhere in the world, leading to an isolated pocket at that position. It left a temporary rift at the position you entered, where the door would normally come out in a regular pocket.
However, you didn't have to use that rift to come out. You could charge-open another rift with the Rift Blade, and it would send you out at the relative coordinates of that rift in your original dimension.
~
The classic RUclips thing of people with under 50k subscribers making the best videos.
for real
bro 11k wtf, this guy is so entertaining
This is because they pour in a lot of effort on specific things, and popular RUclipsrs just put them on other stuff since they have more to manage(I think)
THAT IS SO TRUE
the views are increasing rapidly
For Dimensional Doors, I miss the original function of the Rift Blade.
It let you charge to open a temporary rift anywhere in the world, leading to an isolated pocket at that position. It left a temporary rift at the position you entered, where the door would normally come out in a regular pocket.
However, you didn't _have_ to use that rift to come out. You could charge-open another rift with the Rift Blade, and it would send you out at the relative coordinates of that rift in your original dimension.
This let you do things like come up to a wall, open a rift next to it, go inside, walk past the where the wall is in reality (Maybe pillaring up a little to match terrain) then open another rift inside that pocket to escape at your new relative coordinates, letting you walk past the wall without walking past it.
It was like Miegakure: You come to an impassable obstacle, then utilize the 4th dimension to walk _around_ that obstacle, and come back.
You can still do that just not with the blade, if you place a wooden dimensional door in a pocket dimension made by an iron door, the exit will appear at those relative coordinates.
@@codebracker
Huh, that's good to know!
I'm still sad that the blade has lacked this feature for so long, though. I think the last it had it was back in 1.6.4?
Since it was in my first experience with it, it's such a nostalgic part of the mod to me, but it hasn't even been a config option in any version since.
@@DonnaPinciot it was a glitch I believe, since making rifts generally costs a stabilised fabric and the sword could just make an infinite amount for free. If the functionality returned it would probably have to be an endgame tool
@@codebracker
It wasn't a glitch, it's just how the blade worked before. It even had a tooltip explaining it!
The rifts the blade opened didn't leave behind actual fractal rift things when they closed, they were just a single-use doorway to/from a new pocket dimension.
@@DonnaPinciot from what I heard it was just supposed to open single use portals on existing rifts
dimensional doors was in the RAD modpack. I was always interested in the concept of dimensions existing side by side to ours, so while my friends cleared dungeons I wanted to learn anything about it. Like you said there is something about it that just pulls you in. RAD offered many other dimensions as well, it must have been well over a dozent. My mission was to visit every dimension, collect rare items from them and somehow link them in one place we called interdimensional railroad station. Together with thaumcraft I felt like some ancient scholar that broke down reality to its very core, trying to understand it. It was the best minecraft run I ever had and I remember the time with my friends fondly. I wish I could play it for the first time again.
Back when I had dimensional doors in a modpack, I saw "limbo" and fell in love. More recently, I wanted to make a base in Limbo - as long as it is made of certain blocks, it is resistant against decay, and the decay blocks can be used for very unique interactions and farms (like an automatic gravel farm)
I wish i had the time or a server to do it in. I think it would rock, and basically nobody would find me.
@@purplenanite That sounds epic! And very secure as to find you they would have to intentionally enter Limbo and look for you.
The one that was in RAD2 just didn’t have the same allure as the original, which was pretty unfortunate.
@@NH4NO3NPK rad 2 is a completely different thing, I wanted to start a run and thought it was the overall same progression pattern just with more stuff to do, like a naturall successor but I also was pretty disappointed
@@mikemeier7228 I had a lot of problems with RAD2 given that I played it in the beta, but they fixed it a lot in later updates. I still don’t like it as much as the original, though I hear that RAD3 will be a lot better.

I honestly think all Minecraft RUclipsrs should be like this, no random voice volume rises, no yelling or screaming, no ultra fast paced, none of that 3rd Person crouching while talking. Just this calmness, the nice and constant animation, the way your guy looks. The way you edit and move stuff. The way the clips are meshed together. The way you speak, and the way you just have your little dude just being part of all the editing and being active and also being side by side doing stuff with Minecraft
I agree with all of these except for the third person one. The third person is iconic.
@@xythrr okay yeah it is pretty iconic
yeah I honestly miss the old style of MC videos!
I used to watch so much modded MC content it bordered on an addiction now however 99,9% of MC RUclipsrs are like they're on crack bordering on ineligible gobbledegook which I honestly hate or doing one video instead of a series or if the attempt to do a series they axing it half way through because they got bored & heaven forbid you want to find something new & decent to watch with RUclips's dog water search engine.
it honestly sucks what Minecraft content has become same goes for YT, taking hours to find something decent to watch.
Well that wae og youtube

I remember when everybody on Minecraftforum was talking about the Aether like it would inevitably added into the game. Shame it never made it in- I always loved the progression inherent to a portal made of glowstone.
Which is kind of funny cause that progress concept did actually make it to the base game with blaze rods for the end dimension.
in one way, the end kinda was like the aether, just differently interpreted by different people
The End dimension felt like an extremely weak attempt at replicating the Aether concept (floating islands, locked behind Nether progression, contains a boss fight). However, it was so much worse, especially in the initial release where the End was just a single floating island in an infinite void.
I think Mojang wanted to stray away from the whole heaven/hell concept.
The aether is also far more of an RPG, whereas Minecraft is deliberately only a little RPG-ish.
@@seigeengineyeah, but they really have no reason to
the funny thing many dont realize is that the aether mod wasn't just big when mods themselves were almost completely unknown, the aether was actually advertised by people as if it was in minecraft loads of big content creators would make videos of how to get to the aether and never once mention anywhere at all that it was a mod, I remember as a kid I had to spend 5-10 minutes searching the internet to figure out the aether was a mod for the game.
I always loved Dimensional Doors
Funnily enough the Lion King dimension mod is nostalgic to me, same for DivineRPG
I love your editing so much, especially your character blended so well with the background and the iconic font (im curious what is it called), great video even though these are the biggest dimensional mods that probably most people know, Mystcraft is something I havent heard a lot of people talk about
Thank you for enjoying it! Honestly I did want to cover a lot more of the lesser known ones but the video got too long for me to finish so I ended up with these 3 (which are definitely some of the most well known older dimension mods), I'll probably make another one of these tho and hopefully cover more lesser known mods :D
If you mean the animated font, it's just my own writing with a mouse haha, besides that I use Lemon Milk and Minecraft Ten :)
THE LION KING DIMENSION MOD... that was my favourite section of dantdm's modded letsplay. i watched those episodes so many times. i had completely forgotten about it by now.
Oh goodness, that and the bug dimension we're some of my favorite dimensions in the PopularMMOs modpack series. So much creativity
I remember dimensional doors so well. It scared me so badly going to limbo. I didn't know how to escape and for a while, I would just make new worlds. They're creepy, unsettling and straight up fascinating
the feel of the portals is so, so fascinating 😅 i think its the reason why im so obsessed with the backrooms now
You know, if you still have a thing for dimensions, there's a data pack out there that adds 11 dimensions to minecraft. Faewild, underdark, a prison dimension, most of them DnD themed. So far it has 330K views on planetminecraft, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. It's called the "bracken pack," and I've also heard rumors that the dev behind it is pretty chill :)
are you self promoing 👀
@@bj-yh2sw Crap, I've been found out. Pretend you never saw me!
Your name sounds familiar... Wait a minute!
Hey….wait a second!
dnd themed you say?
This could either be amazing or awful.

Slight correction, Minecraft has had dungeons since Alpha.
That's the square room with a mob spawner and 0-2 chests nearby.
Not much to explore with them per-se, but they were always something to stumble upon while exploring a cave, loot the chests, and maybe take advantage of the spawner later.
I think he meant bigger structures like Mineshafts, Strongholds, and Woodland Mansions.
@@Boomblox5896
Probably, but it's not correct to say that Minecraft didn't have dungeons _period_ back when the Aether came out.
@@DonnaPinciot When have RUclipsrs ever been correct in their exact terminology when they want to talk about something?
@@Boomblox5896 chill bruh, he gets it
@@DonnaPinciot Also I recall he said there were no dungeons TO EXPLORE. The dungeons we had back then were just single rooms. You can't really "explore" that like you can explore a mansion or temple.
The way your character interacts with the video is incredibly interesting, I'd have to guess that your character is at least three and a half to four blocks tall because of the way that your character sits.
I think it is really interesting, and I can't wait to see your videos become more popular, you speak very eloquently and straight to the point without feeling like I'm in a classroom getting a lecture, I feel like I'm talking to a friend who just knows a lot about these specific things.
The way you speak about information is incredibly retainable.
One of the better Minecraft videos I have ever seen.
Very good job man.
I adore the aether for being capable of having its own experience completely stand alone from the overworld, another mod which I adore that managed to do this to such a brilliant degree is the betweenlands, with so many mechanics and systems for that mod has truly made it memorable to me
"forgotten Mods"
first up: "The most remembered mod ever: The Aether"
I like the way you look funny swirl monochrome man
After three months, delivered yet again another masterpiece.
Dimensional doors has always been one of my absolute favorite mods. I never stopped being creeped out and stressed when i was exploring, but i kept going in for the loot
Bro I Fucking LOVE the character animations and how it interacts with the enviorment and everything. The constant slight paper-like movement, the subtle limb movements, how do even have the budget for that at under 15k subs? And don't get me started on the subtitles.
_absolutely all of this i agree with_
Budget? Lol. It's more like an animatic, just shifting between static poses. It's cool and the way he frames the character in the environment is neat, but it doesn't look expensive at all
GOSH I LOVE YOUR PIXEL ART SO MUCH MAN
Thank you!!
I had a bad habit of downloading mods w/o reading what anything does. I almost destroyed our base with the dimensional doors, I had to have us exit the server while I looked up why blocks were disappearing, haha. As for tropicraft, I loved the palm trees and new items, but I had no clue up until now that it was a dimension mod. Excited to redownload these and check them out again
Nostalgia Overdose
What a unique editing style!! I can't wait to keep up with your RUclips journey
Actually insanely good editing- dang man, great job! Thanks for putting the effort in and exploring all these dimensions... dang, it's kind of sad that we've forgotten about these.
Him sitting on the TNT block killed me 😂
Actually annoying how undiscovered you are. I wish you all good luck, amazing video, amazing editings, amazing graphics, amazing music and voiceover. Thank you for making this video, you deserve all the attention of the world, instantly subscribed and pressed like. Thank you youtube for recommending me this amazing channel.
Just found this channel, loving the hosts voice, and charcter almost interacting with game environment, im feeling like this is a good subscription
Cool video, never knew about Aether progression
I also like your pixel character avatar, just adorable
I was not ready for the Uberhaxornova clip lol
First video of yours I’ve ever watched, the editing work is exceptional! Great stuff!
OH MY GOD FINALLY SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT DIMENSIONAL DOORS AGAIN i feel like ever since 1.12.x, DanTDMs mod showcase, and certain modpacks everyone just kinda moved on and i felt like i was the only one who still appreciated this mod to this very day
i dont really play minecraft anymore, let alone have the patience to mod it but this, along with a few other mods, were like a requirement for me to install since vanilla never really was enough for me personally. i really hope it will get the love it deserves again.
This is my first video I’ve watched of yours (thanks recommendations) and I have to say I think it’s awesome how you’ve inserted your representative character within the video. It’s super creative and very well done.
Such a great flash back to all the dimension mods I used to play with. A huge nostalgia wave hit me after starting the video and starting with the aether. It brings back so many memories that I wish I could experience the same way as I used to when I was younger
Mom! Its another Dimensional Doors video, come quick!
I dimensional doors, it's one of my favourite mods in a modpack I regularly play with my friends (AQM2). This actually helped me learn what to do with the dimensions lol - all I knew was just the finding loot part, and the dying/falling into limbo.
This is one hell of a start for a new channel. Watched this video as well as your other Minecraft video after I got this one in my recommended. It amazes me that you're such a small channel. I'm definitely subscribing.
Tropicraft is genuinely one of the most nostalgic mods for me. I always just remember it being so chill and calming
Ain't no way you have only 8k subs, you should have at least 50k subs, you are cooking🔥🔥🔥
Gotta be honest, first, great video, loved it, second Dim doors is SCARY in VR, the pure black that surrounds is just terrifying
This really does bring me back to watching my favorite youtubers playing with their friends on modded servers, or playing Hexxit for the first time and discovering a Door, being disappointed like so many other kids my age to find out the funny Glowstone water portal doesn't work. Simple times, not necessarily better times, but much simpler.
Dimensional Doors was such a classic. I remember watching videos on it wishing I could mess with it (this was before I knew how mods worked and they werent the easiest)
I also have many fond memories of Tropicraft. I should play it again sometime.
underrated youtuber
The Twilight Forest mod.
Everyone and thier mother has played twilight forest
Still being updated and is included in most modpack
twilight forest is goated
also, thanks for activating my project moon sleeper agent
Twilight forrest is FAR from forgotten ,its in literally every modpack and actively updated
The portal is shown in the intro lol
I really hope you do more videos like this going over more old forgotten dimension mods. One I always come back to is The Lion King mod. It's a very awesome and detailed mod with several biomes, mobs, and equipment!
this was a dang good vid. the style of cuts to ur character just chilling in the environment between explorations and descriptions of it goes hard man gg good.
Love the pixel character wiggly animation.
Damn this video has such quality that I thought I was watching a million view video, truly amazing, keep it up bro
Randomly stumbled upon your video and I love it! Interesting concept with your own character. Keep up the good work!
I really enjoy your editing style and your character. Keep it up man!
Dude, amazing video I thought you have like at least 100k subs, insane quality and presentation, bless the algorithm for pushing you in my feed.
Thank you!!
new upload from this upcoming guy? splendid.
What a trip down memory lane! I played all three growing up! Thank you for stirring up such fond memories!
this is my first time watching one of your videos and I gotta say I love everything about it, especially how you have your own character drawn and it just looks so aesthetic as well and goes very well with the video pacing, I thought you were like a channel with 100k+ subs or something but hell naw you're criminally underrated my guy
thanks for bringing Dimensional Doors back into my mind
Dimensional doors mentioned, I have been summoned
Real
Dude what the editing in this video is really good. I especially love the transitions and how your character interacts with the video itself
I remember playing DimensionalDoors back in 1.12.2 and being so sad that they never updated it past that version. I remember checking a few years ago and I still couldn't find anything. I'm glad that it's getting updated finally.
This was such an amazing video. The style is perfect and I love your character sitting in the world. It realls adds such a cozy vibe.
The aether isnt forgotten lmao
i remember the dimdoors one, still very cool!
the text font makes me feel silly
This video made me remember another dimension mod that I liked as a kid. The lion king mod. It had quests, and bossfights. The way you entered the lion king dimension was by finding a movie theater in the overworld. Then you had to pay a ticket lion to get a ticket, and you could enter through the cinema's screen
side note I love the presentation of your avatar while showing the mods (idk what the proper term for it ig editing style?), it gives your video style a very unique vibe
Good video. I enjoyed it.
That was a nice nostalgia hit, dimensional doors was in every modpack i made back then. Just always had couple stability issues that mod but was very interesting to use in base building with having an own sectioned off dimension for each mod/modded production line
The production quality if beyond what i expected! This is a really cool style of video and reminds me of how code bullet animates his videos whos style i also like
Emm what the sigma
So many dimensions yet not a single one where I have a wife.
ngl I really dig your style. It's really fun seeing what your character is up to just chilling fucking around the world, reminds me a bit of Ratboy genius. also peak deoxys skin
I'd love to see a part 2 or 3 to this, this is a really good video and I honestly didn't even know that Tropicraft existed. I played an Aether mod pack for maybe an hour in creative years ago, and I knew dimensional doors existed but that's about it. But this has inspired me to actually play these mods.
One that you missed that I absolutely LOVED was Mystcraft. It was basically like the RFTools Dimension builder, where you could create dimensions based off of different settings that you found in ruins. To this day, that's up there with Twilight Forest as one of my favorite dimension mods.
Me and my friends are playing the Valhelsia 6 modpack and engaging in the Aether Mod for the first time. Thanks for the video!

Man i loved these 3 mods, they bring back so many memories when i used to play with them, super great video, definetly underrated channel!
Am I the only one who genuinely thinks the Aether's color palette is kinda ugly? Please tell me I'm not the only one...
I do agree
only two, I suppose
Its based on the old color palette, that's why it looks odd on modern Minecraft
I sorta agree but some how it sorta fits
The idea of the colour palette is desaturated colours of the vanilla blocks, I assume this is because it’s up high and the lower oxygen desaturates the colours
That was nostalgic, and hearing that all mods are still or again being worked on in some way makes ne really happy
I remember all of these. and still love all of them till this day. So much nostalgia comes from seeing the Dimensional doors specifically, all the best Modpacks had that one.
I *vaguely* remember trying to get into the Aether as a kid, trying to make it work- because I thought it was part of the base game for a short time
Dimensional Doors and Tropicraft are both ones I remember seeing mod reviews on- back in the golden age when that was what most Minecraft RUclipsrs tended to do
I loved Dimensional Doors! I also have such vivid memories of Mystcraft and its dimension customization, that was such a cool mod idea
what a chill well made vid
hope yo continue on uploading cuz i was shocked to see this is only your fourth video on this channel
keep it up fam
whenever I saw this video in my recommended I was intrigued and after watching it I am delighted that somebody is covering things like this.
this video solves the problem that people trying to break into the Minecraft moded scene don't know any mods other than the most popular ones. it also gives the viewer three very good dimension mods without being "wacky" over the top or annoying in any way
good job creator youve done excellent work here
Just finished watching both your minecraft videos with my boyfriend. Amazing stuff. Especially love your OC's style and the way they're edited. Subbed and looking forward to more :>
gotta say, I love your editing style. how you integrate yourself with what's around you, there's a nice charm to it
Your character looks pretty cool. Anyway, Tropicraft seems hella relaxing, I'm not a mod guy but I might give it a shot, if it works in recent versions of the game.
This gave me slight nostilga of remembering my first interaction with the dimentional doors mod. I remember starting the game on a modpack and finding a rift, eventually I figured out how I made a portal and when I entered I got creeped to death. It was probably one of the scariest experiences of my childhood but it was in some way still a very fun memory to look at.
Btw love the dedication and the video focus on quality rather than quantity.
Honestly, if you ever did another one of these, I'd love to see you talk about other dimension mods like Twilight Forest, Galacticraft could probably count, too.
I just stumbled upon your videos, and I love them. Definitely looking forward to more videos with really any topic, haha.
this video is so well made i love the little character you put into the gameplay.
You have a very approachable style to your videos. You sound genuinely interested in the material you're presenting, with a tinge of professionalism to keep it straight and strike that nice balance. Good content, keep at it.
i never realized how ahead of its time the aether mod was. awesome video your editing is so good
This was a blast to the past. The Dimentanal doors mod was the one I played back when Technic was popular. It was so scary for smaller me but I kept coming back... and ending up getting lost...
It was just so charming and is one of my favorite mincecraft mods.
Your video also captures a lot of nostalgia from back when we had creative mod review series' like Yoglabs. I don't know if its your music, style, or simplicity but keep it up 👍
Very well studied, Dimensional doors and tropicraft are definitely both forgotten gems. Glad a new generations got this video to find them.
Would mind a part 2 if you find more mods that have been forgotten. I really enjoyed the video, keep it up.
Dimensional Doors is one of those mods I still vividly remember to this day, even if it was from watching all those Minecraft let's plays. It definitely felt like a precursor of how we view liminal space in more recent times.
All of those are absolutely amazing, and there are so many more. But the ones you showed are definitely still remembered.
I had dimensional doors installed as part of a modpack called Hexxit, and I didnt really look into all the mods in it, and had no idea what these were when I came across them and ended up just falling into limbo. I was so terrified lol and had no idea how to get out until I finally stumbled upon that red stuff and then never investigated one of those warps again. Im excited to try it again
love seeing dimensional doors in this
way back playing R.A.D. (modpack) i would be flopping around and doing whatever then eventually i'd come across one of the doors just chilling out in the wild.. of course i never went into them because i knew limbo existed and thought i would be royally screwed if i got there
love that modpack, love that mod and love this video you did great
I love your little avatar just doin' whatever, like fishing in the End. It's a cute touch!
This is my first experience of your content and it's great!
