Hi, I’m that maple, and I miss my friends :’) good news though, Minecraft Addicts is being worked on again! we just put the server on a new box and are doing some stability testing :)
I was an original player on Minecraft Addicts from 2011. I directed the Museum build. 8:22 Towards the beginning a big update happened that disabled all of the servers anti-grief plugins and so the place got trashed overnight. When the admins noticed they reverted the world back but the day was then known as D-day. After that every time an updated was about to go through the admins would save a backup and then open the server up to "D-Day" greifing for a day and allowed item spawning for TNT. It was chaotic and fun. The next day they would revert to save and then apply the update. The "Notch sends Agants" to the server reference was a commonly known joke to the players. Some kid logged on and tried to convince everyone he was a Minecraft employee sent by Notch (original MC dev) to check things out. Of course he misspelled Agent and said he was an "Agant". I miss those days.
It was just some kid that popped on the server and started getting mad about something. Maybe we didn’t accept his land claim or something. We were fairly picky about only wanting good builders in the build world. He got mad and started threatening us saying he worked for Mojang and he was one of Notch’s agents, but he couldn’t spell it right. He threatened to have the sever taken down. From then on it was a joke in the community we say stuff like “be careful I might be one of Notch’s agants and I can get you banned”
@@mleszzor6866and often people like that who came into the world would be given a special position if they wanted to be staff. That was called spider op, and they would be teleported inside the spawn spider that had a couple of random levers put in it!
You're saying how you discovered that the server meant a lot to some people: Man and then you're playing my songs (single tear) I've got a whole album about this server, released on all stores "Tavern Songs From Altera" and it was the start of my professional music career (full time now). This server was magic! It fuelled so many people's passions. It's interesting to see an outsider's perspective on HollowWorld right after it ended and the perspective on the end. Very interesting.
@@sakk4818 Aye, thanks! Yes it really is incredible how the server supported all sorts of arts. At some point the art forums were more active than the actual minecraft server :)
I don't know how you can handle this video. I wasn't even a part of the community, only worked on a server similar to it and almost broke down crying watching this.
Did not expect to see myself featured on a random youtube video, but a first for everything. Aracena Mithtanil was my little baby, so seeing you scroll through the profile and find her remains made me smile. The feels, man. The feels.
Man its 1am and Im here genuinely saddened by a Minecraft server I was never a part of (I dont even play minecraft lol) shutting down so abrupty and for seemingly no good reason aswell.
My name is Wake, I played as I_am_Wake on Hollowworld. It was truly a life defining server to me, more than just a Minecraft experience as the game was simply a catalyst to build the world in which we would base our text and numbers Roleplay. I played Gromm and Lana Wake, whose profile you showed on this very video. Thank you so, so much for making this video and exploring the world I once called a second home for a great portion of my life. Roleplay is a wonderful way to escape reality, to pretend fantasy, yet feel true real emotions regarding your character and their interactions. The server also seeped into the real world. Bart and I met on Hollowworld back in 2012, and now we are lifelong friends. The large wizard tower you found outside Eldpoint was actually my academy, the Evenfall Academy, which Bart built! I am sad to say you joined after it was emptied of all its exhibits, otherwise you would have been able to see hundreds and hundreds of lore items regarding the servers history, including a library full of real MC books filled with lore, tales, poems and magic by right-clicking on the bookshelves. I am sad to say that before the server was shut down by Lannis against our wishes to continue the server, I had moved all the items and books into a private storage where I had planned to give them a new home if the server ever came back. Sadly, it did not. I have not moved to another Minecraft server since and I feel like a piece of me has been lost as a result. To see this video honour Hollowworld has brought me much bittersweet happiness, knowing each viewer of this video who never knew the world got to see its ending. Thank you so much for this. And yes. It did take forever to get places whilst walking, so we had a network of teleporting carriages, airships and ships. Most of us used /fly to get around and gather resource nodes to craft lore items.
Oh my gosh I know you!! I think I remember seeing ur forum posts about Lana, and the were so fun to read through even though I never interacted with her 😭
Sounded awesome, glad you got to experience that and meet friends with common interests. Hopefully one day, maybe one of you can make your own Hollowworld for new players to experience the way you guys did.
Another of the folks from HollowWorld here. I've seen several of the abandoned server videos on this channel and what strikes me is the amount of care in all these servers and the positive light you shed on them. I don't think that thought hit me as hard as when you were showing off HollowWorld. It's tragic we couldn't archive the forums fully or save the map. I think it says a lot about the community that had formed that there's so many people here in the comments talking about it, but it was a place that was special to many people, including me. I'm glad that even in the short time you got to experience the place, you were able to tell how much it mattered to folks. I liked your 'abandoned' series before, but this has given me a new appreciation for this sort of video. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
I left the server I think quite some time before it went down, not gracefully either, but its still sad to see it gone, not just lacking players but seemingly not having archives of anything. The memories live on in the heart though. -Angryboy
I ended up screenshot capturing a ton of what I could, on server and off. My run was so brief, but the palpable love-of-lore kept me trying it out. It truly is a thoughtful, sweet video paying homage to that. Thankful for my time and new friends made!
@@veradite I just wanna make a minecarft that takes place like 2000 years after the original server took place and make the screen shots in something like lost history from 2000 years ago.
24:59 I was among Staff on Hollowworld, it’s crazy to see the perspective of somebody not into RP brush up against our little world. I’ll tell you some more about that server incase you were interested: Hollowworld had many plots and server-wide narratives throughout its day. The attack of a necromancer lord, the rise of demons in our midst, among many other stories. These would affect every city, every town, every lordship. Staff DMs would roleplay in all these things and attempt to create a unique personal experience for every character. These DM-run arcs were only a tiny shred of all that happened on the server. Kingdom to kingdom wars took place, lasting up to a genuine real life year. Tons of people involved, field battles, sieges, ambushes, and these recon missions people would make in character scouting reports on. The last one of these which was semi active during the server’s shut down was a warband led by “Branko” establishing a naval blockade on the island city home to what was essentially the dark elves. All of these wars were entirely player done, every decision every general every captain. On an even finer level, you had the individual RP. Characters meeting in the tavern, talking of their journeys. People would make friends, enemies, and lovers in the taverns. Rivalries between characters would create tension and from that would spark conflict. I recall a fair few alleyway scuffles. My personal journey as a Ka’ar nomad named “Suhkoiza” or “Soup” started by unknowingly meeting the main antagonist of the server in a wheat field. What seemed like an old farmer man to Suhkoiza was in reality a globally feared necromancer. The only reason I was spared was his amusement that I didn’t know him, being new to Hollowworld. He ‘blessed’ my face with a bloodied palm, and vanished. I was discovered moments later by a trio of (player character) warriors, who drew weapons on me due to the bloodied palm mark on my face. I had some explaining to do. There is so much to this server. A beloved memory to many. Drama caused about it’s ending months as many people tried to make drastic moves to “save it”. Two projects I know of have started after the closure of Hollowworld, one of which is thus far extremely successful, with 40 or so players online and RPing at it’s daily(~) peak. If anybody has curiosities about Hollowworld feel free to ask below I’ll try to answer as many as I can. If you knew me, “Soup”, let me know because it will make me smile. ❤
@@melting7912 Sure, though I’d like to state clearly: this particular currently ‘successful’ successor is not an official successor to HW. I name this server under the guise of “this is the one I play now” rather than anything else. Currently the server I am referring to is “Avalore”. You can probably find it through a Google search or Planet Minecraft. I’ve enjoyed it thusfar and believe it has a lot of good prospects. I don’t intend for this to be a way to poach people under the name of Hollowworld which evokes so many memories, I hope it isn’t taken as such.
So how did it end? Story wise I mean. Servers like Hollowworld are neat to me. I played on a server called Minecracked, same age as Hollowworld. While it wasn't a RP only server, many of us played it as an RP server. Many clans formed, many killed off, and many rebuilt within their ruins. Some of the bases were cool to use older vets of that server because sometimes they would keep sections of walls, or just build ontop of the old ruins. Seeing them would re awaken memories from years prior being there, fighting, and burning it down lol.
Hi, I am one of the old players from Hollowworld called Angryboy at the time, and a leading figure of House Arcturus. I left the server pretty ungracefully, having a pretty bad argument with people before dipping out and thinking everyone was better off without me. I just want to thank all the people who I met over the years there for making me feel welcomed, for helping an Autistic kid actually develop their social skills, and for giving me life long memories. I'm sorry for any grief I may have caused other members in my mood swings, looking back I realise how out of line I was at times and how amazing you had all been to me. Hollowworld may be gone, but the memories will forever remain.
Woah, a wild Angryboy sighting! Hey man, Reltimus/Sigurd here. Honestly I only remember you being a cool dude so either my memory is super bad or I left before things went south (or both, probably both). Hope you're doing good dude!
As one of the Hollowworld Players that saw the end here o// I wanted to let you know this video quickly made rounds in the small groups left kinda scattered around, while I speak more for myself the video I think hit a lot of us in the feels (in a good way) and it's cool that you actually looked into the forums and all that because it WAS a lot of work from A LOT of very different people. This video I think highlights that all really well so thank you! From the art on the forums, the lore filled character profiles and world, and even the music Bart made. A lot of us are gonna miss it, even if it did have it's rough patches we all met so many people through it and it's nice to see someone from the outside immortalize some of the stories we made before it fades. It's hard to put into words it all, but yeah, thanks man, and good video!
Also since everyone is adding their HW (Hollowworld) story, I will add mine. I never cared for the MMO aspect, grinding for power, getting the best equipment and being ruler, waging wars wasn't really my cup of tea. There were alternative playstyles. I liked to roleplay more casual, indulging less into the global affairs of a campaign and more into "slice of life" roleplay with a few friends I still have. Digging deep into relations and the inner workings of a characer. My most memorable character was a young, spry, chaotic Halfling/Hobbit called "Andrew" who is a somewhat underdog fighter, who in spite of his size makes up for it with sheer blinding positivity. I have an entire playlist called "Andrew" of songs I would play during rp to get into the mood of the character. He met a similarly ragtag group of friends at the docks, calling ourselves the dockers and these days were some of the best in my life. And each character in our little group had a part to play. Andrew was the not very bright, but cheerfully crude part of the crew. One was the royal level-headed, studious, but quiet heart of the crew. One was the orderly and snarky daughter of an infamous pirate (The one with red colored profile in your vid) and One a gambling, hardened, morally gray, seafairing hobo whose arc was to warm up to them. Andrew went on to become the Guard Captain of Storms Landing (Spawn town), kill lotsa monsters and demons, be blessed by the God of Justice and join a group protecting the realm, was possessed by a demon for a short time. But I don't particularly care as much for these achievements, as I do for the moments of roleplay that made me laugh, cry and proud. I don't wanna get too misty eyes but the people I played with were my people and helped make COVID less lonely. Perhaps that's why Andrew's core attribute was his bold, unapologetic optimism. Andrew D'Amryun of Astrum, "Sacred of Valiant, Guard Captain of Storm's Landing, Valorborne of the Realmsguard, World's Greatest Halfling Hero and Drinker of Applejuice", the lil legend himself
Another Hollowworld player here! Thanks so much for bringing it up, the server was a huge part of many people's lives. I played Avalyn Tideborne, whose profile you briefly showcased in there! Honestly, the server wasn't just a "Minecraft RP" for most of us. It was a giant written, everchanging roleplay and writing project that happened to be played on Minecraft. Never have I ever seen a community made roleplay as grand and as complex as Hollowworld was. There are plenty of servers very much alike it, forsure, but I think HW takes the cake on just how vast it was, and how passionate the players were in their writing. I've spent around 3000-4000 hours there, and I'm not even among the most active. I could talk about it for hours. Where DnD has a DM who controls or guides most of the campaign, the players made most of the roleplay and conflict on the server, though with some guidance and points from lore/event staff. We had incredible writers, builders, artists, musicians, historians and all kinds of creators, and it was a giant collaboration spanning over decades. The events and characters and campaigns, the world was just so alive, for a really long time. There was so, so much lore... A lot of so creative and unique, and a lot of it- err, interesting... And old. But in general, the server was so, so story rich compared to so many projects. Most of us got so into writing our characters that we had arcs for them, some planned and played out, others blossoming through spontaneous events in roleplay. For example, I've played Avalyn since 2020, and she grew from a 5-year-old to the age of 23, and within that time was possessed by an ocean spirit twice, nearly lost her life around five times in server wide campaigns and other events, joined 3 ship crews, became a captain of her own ship, got married, and made so many dear friends... And a whole lot more I could never write into a youtube comment. And so, so many of us put so much of our time into writing these characters, allowing other characters and the world around them to shape them, just so they could return the favor in the setting. The reason it fell apart was... Complicated. It's saddening to say, but it was a decently long time coming. The drama is longwinded and complex, and honestly, a lot of it now is 'she said, he said', because of a lack of concrete evidence outside from people's experiences. I may get some glares from people for saying that, but it is true for the outsiders. It's hard to trust strangers when there's conflicting stories and 'bad guys', but no proper proof, because proof here is hard to document. Anyway, I'm going to so, so very dearly miss the server. We still mourn, as fresh as the deletion is. But thankfully, the community is still somewhat whole, even if fractured. We mourn together. Thanks for showcasing our love for the server, even if in a little snippet :')
OMG JUVIX HI I was moonpudding! I remember interacting with Avalyn a lot as Nimue and seeing her be kind of like a big sister to Nimue was so cute and heartwarming. Never got to truly thank you for helping me out when I joined, and the Apostles of the Sea storyline was so fun!! Hope your doing well :)
Hollowworld was so great. not perfect, the mechanics were contested and so was the magic system, but the committed community is what held it together. I have played a character who started as a 6 year old, grow into his 20s over the past five years just as the server closed and some people played characters older and even longer than that to the point of their children being played by players.
it was a really awesome time! I used to play on it for years and it breaks my heart to see it end because of silly drama. A damn shame but I'm more than privileged to have been a part of it.
@@MisterSlimee It was always odd seeing some characters go from childhood to old age while others just didn't age at all. I recall I believe it was Bart Zeal who actually drew both a young and old version of Elazar for me and I still have those pictures.
Man it's so crazy seeing something that I worked and played on for over ten years being featured in a video like this. So soon after it's ending too. It was so much more than just another Minecraft server for so many people. Saying it's like a big fantasy MMO doesn't do it justice, imo. It was like a whole secondary world that you could just choose to inhabit for awhile as your character. It's a shame some of the best event builds and the cities from old maps weren't able to be featured in the video, and might never be seen again. The map you're on the video was actually kind of controversial in its day, not everyone wanted to move to it. And you're right about the texture pack! Most people used conquest. A lot of the random debris you found on the side of the road were actually remnants from events that were ran there at some point - like zombies rising from roadside graves or bandits or etc. Man! Again this video is just so cool. I met my wife on this server. I made so many friends on this server. If anyone has any questions or anything, I'd love to keep talking about it. The video really only scratched the surface of over ten years of lore.
So this server was essentially a "physical" DND campaign for a ton of people? Really, I can't believe something like this existed, and I would LOVE to hear any stories you would like to tell!
@@Gamersoul333 DND is underselling it a little bit. DND has a really narrow focus on, say, you and your three other pals and a single DM. On HW, there were several different factions of players, some of them with over a dozen participants, each going about their own independent goals. One of my favorite times was when I joined a faction I didn't know a lot about as a character who apprenticed to the faction's leader. I didn't know anything about them ahead of time, I thought they were just some generic smallscale trading port. Turns out, they had a lot of spies in other factions and were manipulating things behind the scenes to try to get the faction leader immortalized as a god. If I had never joined with them and joined someone else instead, I'd have never known.
A little update from a former HollowWorld player, a lot of us have moved onto new servers and new experiences. I'm not going to name these servers because I don't want this to be an advertisement post. I just want to let people know that the fire never died and the spirit of HollowWorld still lives on!
Could you please tell me the name of a server like hollowworld? (if you know one) it sounds like a great thing to be a part of but I never knew hollowworld existed until now
Hi! I'm one of the players from the late HollowWorld. I recognise Groi'bel Evar. I believe one of my characters was there when it burnt to the ground. And thats what I loved about that server: Each of those little details you found along the road have a story, something that happened there that only the players who were present may remember. Some have been there a few weeks, some (like Groi'bel) a few months, and many of them... years. I wish you had joined the discord server before the server shut down, I'm sure many of us would have loved to show you around and share our memories of it, along with all the fantastic builds people made for all of their towns and cities. The server had issues, sure, but they don't take away from the memories we made there. The good and bad. I'm gonna miss it.
seeing stuff like hollowworld makes me realize how much i missed out, even though I never even heard of it until this video. I wouldve loved something like that, but I never got to experience it, and probably never will find anything that really comes close. I may have never been able to experience it myself, but it seems to have been extremely well ran, its a shame that its gone, but I hope the people involved can at least cherish those memories forever.
While every single one of those projects and their communities truly are one of a kind, and they hold a special place to those within them, there *are* more of them out there. They’re not quite the same - never the same, really, but they do exist. I hope you stumble into one of them one day.
don’t let the FOMO get to you, hollowworld may have shut down but the spirit never died! a lot of us from hollowworld moved onto new servers! It really isn’t over and you can still join in on the experience
Right so I already made a comment, but I did want to share my experience with the HollowWorld server because it is truly such a sweet thing that has a special place in my heart. So I actually got roped into joining through my older sister, who was pretty active in the community and helped me get started. I remember making my first character submission and waiting with held breath to see if I had been accepted, and the immediate excitement and happiness I felt when I did. Soon after that, I found myself meeting some pretty amazing people through the game! I got to interact with other people, and my character, a 6 year old kid, got roped into joining a sea cult haha!! Another thing about this server is that it wasn’t just go online and find someone to rp with, although that was still a big part of it. But a lot of it was also scheduled monthly events that were organized and held by players and staff, and served as a great way to meet new people and grow your characters story. I think my favorite event was an expedition that led to me and some friends reviving a literal sea god and somehow fusing with it. (Another great experience was having my character get possessed by a water spirit, but that’s a whole other story lol) I truly can’t put into words how special this community and server was, and I am so so grateful to everyone I have met. My experience has truly shaped who I am as a storyteller and a roleplayer, and has made a lasting impact on my art. Here’s to 10+ years of a fantastic server!!
Oh my god man, seeing the comment section being full of former HollowWorld members and staff who actively engaged in the server is so amazing, it's so blissful reading through all the stories that they have to share. It really does make you think how a server so unknown yet expansive even existed in the first place. I hope that one day the server somehow reboots, but for now, my heart goes out to those who lost this significant part of their lives.
as someone who has RPed in multiple other games before (WoW, FFXIV, ESO) seeing hollow world really hit me, especially seeing the website with all their lore going down. i really hope everyone managed to archive everything that mattered to them so they can go back to it and see their characters they spent so long writing.
21:23 Hey, that server looks familiar! Not sure if you had a chance to check, but all the cool stuff was on the Skyblock server. That was the main one played on and the one I put the most work into. I wrote several plugins to recreate automation mods in vanilla MC, so there's pipes for item transport, mining machines, tools for obtaining items you normally can't get in Skyblock, etc. Most of my own claims on the server didn't have much done in them because I spent 90% of my time writing plugins, fixing bugs, and making optimization changes. Mostly because I found that way more fun than actually playing MC lol. I had a lot of big plans for the server at the time, hence all the "coming soon" signs and empty rooms in the hub spawn. As a single-man operation, I was probably a bit too ambitious about that, TBF. As for the whole MIA thing, IRL kicked my butt with health issues, job issues, and, as a result, money issues. I do feel like I'm finally starting to get things back under control, but my interest in making YT videos, particularly MC videos, has drastically diminished over the last few years. I will, at least, be making that "total overhaul" I mentioned on the website, just at a slower pace than I initially planned. =) Thanks for taking a look at the server and including it in your video! The server used to be pretty popular and there were often videos that players uploaded of their time on it, but it's been a long time since I've seen one. It's nice seeing it in a new video, even if it's a "forgotten servers" video. XD
If a super dedicated World of Altera player made a book compiling all the lore of that server/world I would read TF out of that. I never knew a Minecraft server could be like that.
oh my god thatd be so hard. there were actually in character history books made. it's well over a decade of lore, some of which was very much retconned
@@theladyniek Bart Zeal's song "in the vast library" honestly hits me like a freight train. Its how I felt after reading all the old forum posts about the older Houses, Cities and Characters that departed that server.
@@theladyniek watching the whole Holloworld section of the video I kept thinking about how I'd totally watch a featur elenght docummentary or a whole series, It's insane to think of all the massive collective works of human creation that are lost constantly because we never seem to value modern day digital works with the same weight as traditionally valued things, It would be awesome if there were books about this born out of the archived years of fan written, drawn, sung art. It's awesome to think there's hundreds or thousands of people going about their day who have an entire part of their lifes be having taken part in this tho, the world is pretty cool sometimes
Bro!! I was active on Hollowworld for a few years. There was always hella drama going on but in general it was a very fun place to make stories with your friends! A lot of those little details you mentioned actually came about from story events that happened in roleplay, so it was an ever-changing world. Idk much about what happened at the very end, but the “Evil” tag was a tag that you could purchase (the server relied on donations) and have in-game and on the forums, not set by the server owner. Thank you for helping to archive this short but memorable part of my life. There’s another server with a lot of the same people called Avalore that started up after HW went down. Hundreds of people, old and new, coming together to make new stories!
The HollowWorld segment reminded me of an old modded RP server I was apart of back when I was younger, so it honestly kinda hit me hard. Lives and history that I can only vaguely remember, probably long since removed from the face of the internet. Awesome video
I was a very active HollowWorld player for nearly 10 years. I spent an ungodly amount of time, more time than I probably spent on anything else, on my characters and building. A couple of my builds are actually featured in this video which was crazy to see. I left the community about a year before they closed and didn’t stick around for any of the final days as it had all kind of run it’s course for me long before I realised it had. But I am now a writer and artist and I know 100% I would not have been as inspired to be either of those things if I hadn’t been on HW and met the people I met there. I am currently working on my first real novel with a protagonist that is inspired by a character I played for around 5 years on HW (actually the frog is one of that character’s pet frogs so that was really heartwarming). Thank you for such a sensitive and meaningful look at our little corner of the world, one that I know I will look back on time and time again ❤
Is there any work you have saved from that time that you’d be willing to share? I’m very interested in this particular roleplay and its community because of a similar crash a community I was apart of had.
@@Krosstic unfortunately I did not save anything from the forums as I had already sort of made my peace with leaving it all behind a long time ago. Some people definitely did this though and may have mentioned so in their comments. Other than my screenshots, a big build someone kindly saved for me, and maybe a couple writing exercises I don’t think I have anything.
@@katlinabrooks7502 That’s genuinely unfortunate, hopefully as the internet archive is fixed people are able to pull that lore from the forums. I am interested in the book you’re writing and I hope to read it one day.
This video turned into a HollowWorld meetup. I bet they had a great time on this server. Reading the stories and people recognizing each other in the comments is heartwarming.
Hey! Thanks so much for featuring Hollowworld. Even if I didn't play on the server reset showcased here, I'd been a member over 12 years ago before the initial community split into several different roleplay servers following administrative drama. There were several other servers that either spawned from Hollowworld players/staff, or simply budded up on their own, between Uthrandir, Gildorym and Aethier just off the top of my head. All had their own drama, or ended up suffering a stagnating fate at a slow loss in popularity and the eventual death of Enjin, which multiple relied on for forums. I always felt like the overarching roleplay community transcended the individual servers. Arcone - Wood Elf
The hot shit when minecraft was still in beta was underwater houses. Id love to find a 2010 era server with underwater houses. Also, Notch randomly doing stuff back then was completely likely. I've interacted with him a couple of times in minecraft, He also likes og Doom demos and streams, he will sometimes randomly show up to a old doom streamers and give him a huge tip just for the hell of it.
man, I just genuinely loved underwater bases myself! Even though i never built one lol to be fair though, I still have the love for em and might build something like that on my singleplayer world or in some other if I find a better one. They're also a bit more convenient nowadays with less darkness in there and the underwater beacon thing
Hi; I was the owner (not the builder though, credit goes to LaruzaSu) of the Keg's Hearth region featured near the end of the HollowWorld section. It was very surreal seeing my character's home one last time from a totally outside perspective. Thank you for documenting the server which meant so much to so many people, even if we didn't always agree on everything ❤
8:55 "Maple misses his friends" was actually crushing. Also - as for the Disney server. There's something about the idea of an empty server which has a firework show which plays to no one every hour which is very off putting.
4:58 what an absolute trip this segment was. I recognized the queue here and was like wait have I been here? Cut to the frozen ride, me and my wife went here 8 years back on this ride in Epcot and the resemblance is uncanny. I can’t believe how strikingly accurate this is
HollowWorld seems like such a sad death. Such a HUGE thing that clearly meant so much to so many people… all lost to time… I am glad to see so many HollowWorlders talking about their time there. I never had an experience as grandiose as that, but I remember making memories with friends on smaller servers. I also remember working on hobbies in dedicated communities, such as my interest in cartography. I imagine it would be similar to those communities just vanishing one day, and it would be hard to imagine the cartography community vanishing, but… it’s not impossible. R.I.P. HollowWorld
I spent many years there. I must have been on it nearly every day for a good few hours just chatting away with people. Its not just the roleplaying, worldbuilding and all that, but for a young Autistic person who struggled massively with socialising, it helped me develop and grow as a person. I'll admit I left in drama, I'm somewhat ashamed of that and I hope I've matured since then, but I'm still very thankful to all the people who helped me grow. And I'm forever thankful to all the people who I shared fond memories with. -Angryboy
Man, I really hope the Hollowworld site was submitted to the Wayback Machine at a few points (even if the Internet Archive itself is having problems right now...) Incredible video as usual man, your investigative-journalism-style and genuine appreciation for the exploration, artifice, and human connection that arises from going through all these projects is wonderful to experience, and it's such a specific feeling to see all these games and servers which have fallen to the wayside nowadays (and I like that the MLP 'Friendship is Magic' server was ACTUALLY really friendly)
Wild to see hollow world on here; Unfortunate owner of the account chiarophinx, don't think any of my work featured. It meant a lot to a lot of people, it was thick with drama and problems and was an extremely cumbersome way to roleplay. There was a slew of two or three dramas at the end there, centering around different accusations of stolen work, incompetent staff, favouritism, sexual assault, pedophilia; All the classics of a medium that puts the vulnerable, young, and ostracized near those who would predate on them, and the lacklustre moderation against such. It had the atmosphere of a small town where everyone knew eachother, and thus everyone would gossip. The end of Hollow world was a slow death, it's decline occured over the years, drama by drama, bleeding staff and playercount each time. By the time the final drama had hit it wasn't one fell blow so much as, all the good will had finally evaporated, everyone was tired of fighting, nobody saw the future of the server anymore, the staff were exhausted of the players and vice versa. There are dozens of splinters and spin-offs and different roleplay servers in this medium, and in them you'll see the same hundred faces and names over and over. Hopping from one sinking ship to another, there are smaller ones that only last months or years. Hollow world sinking was a big one. Still, although the medium is full of drama, awful people, and a cumbersome way to roleplay. I'm glad to have met the people I have from that server, and even met my current partner because of it. Hollow world was only ever special because of those rare people who really made it worth it, and thankfully, they're still around. I might be a minority in this but, I'm glad that the server finally ended. A lot of that server made people suffer, there was a number of actual crimes committed and general awfulness. Somedays my friends on it would talk about it and the people it sheltered with such nausea, fear or anxiety that it twisted me up; I don't feel like it was truly abandoned. The things that were great about it get to move on, and the rotten foundations and ghosts can hopefully be left behind.
The map for HollowWorld at 31:55 was made with Inkarnate- I'd recognize those assets anywhere. It's a freemium browser-based map-making program. I use it a lot for dnd and is a ton of fun to just mess around with. Great resource for anyone who does world building.
I've had a plot on Minecraft Addicts (as user NovumChase) since November 2013-it's genuinely wild to see it here! I miss Maple too, and seeing all those names brought back a flood of memories. Long live the MCAR and thanks for featuring us!
HollowWorld legit made me tear up, i love roleplay forums and to learn there was such a dedicated and loving community who connected it with their minecraft love is amazing. Saddened for all te players who lost a piece of them because truly such a dedicated rp server and forum with so much lore is a hard thing to lose, I hope they find a new home for their characters to continue living in or a new place like HollowWorld was to create new stories.
exact same feeling here, i’m reading all these HollowWorld comments and it’s hitting me how these guys are my people. i would have loved to play on HollowWorld in 2020
Yet another old HollowWorld player here! I was quite active in some of the server's earlier years, specifically 2012-2014. I played a couple characters on there, Reltimus and Sigurd Selmon (If anyone sees this and remembers those names: Hi old friend(s)!). My time spent on HW was easily the most emotionally significant time I've spent in any game before or since; I grew up there, made mistakes there, matured there, surrounded by some wonderful people (and a handful of less wonderful folks). I feel like I owe so much of who I am to that place. When I heard it would be ending, I came back to mourn for a little while. It was so melancholic to explore the forums in what felt like their darkest hour and the weeks following. One of the things I dreaded was that it would just wink out of existance, forgotten by the internet at large. Of course there would still be scattered media, posts in other places, Bart's songs (love ya', old pal). But you including it here feels like a true and proper send-off to me, like my old home being written into the history of ancient, now dead servers. Been a fan of yours for a while, Redlyne. Thank you for showing respect to the old stomping ground.
I love reading these small autobiographys of people's stories and experiences in a lost, nearly forgotten world. Gives me this Indescribable feeling, kinda sad
Bro seeing that segment on HollowWorld hit me in the feels, and I had no idea it existed till your video. Then I look in the comments and like 4 out of every 5 comments I've seen is a HollowWorld player. You really hit the minecraft equivalent of finding an ancient civilization.
Man, HollowWorld and its story are pretty amazing. Never was an RP enjoyer myself, but seeing all the effort people have put into the server and knowing it's all gone is kind of heartwrenching. And the KotOR OST in the background really drives the sad nostalgia feeling personally for me (now I want to do another playthrough of this masterpiece of a game). Mad props to you, Red, for the content you make and the history you unravel in these videos and games. Wish all the best for you!
It's a strange feeling to have seeing these worlds out of context. Funny, I used to think that we haven't reached the point in time where worlds like that of Ready Player One or even the SAO anime, wherein entire dedicated lives existed at one point in a virtual realm. Yet all these servers have now let me see that we have gone past that era, in a way at least. Fantastic video. And I hope all those memories from folks in these worlds will be remembered.
Dude ik exactly what you mean, that’s the feeling it gave me as well. It’s weird how much these worlds truly feel like ancient or abandoned cities you’d see in real life. Or at least invokes the same feeling. I’m so glad we can have cool historical shit like this from the internet
Reading former players of holloworld comments make me feel bittersweet, its like a massive dnd campaign just got destroyed, im so glad they are all having this experience because i bet it feels so fun to roleplay with a bunch of people as chracters
i feel so depressed thinking how people are just abandoning all their experiences, friends and memories and just keep living their real lives i only hope they're doing well and the only deserted thing remains to be the server they've left and yeah i liked your videos and your jokes so much, luckyy to be here since you upload so rarely
It’s very saddening to remember those sessions playing with random people and one day they won’t log in or something might have happened to them, so you lose your contact with them. I still remember fondly my gaming days when I first started to play multiplayer with uncharted 2 back in 2009. Wish I could go back to those days again.
Hollowworld might have been one of the best minecraft server in history and what bothers me is just how the monopoly of minecraft servers nowadays just hide all of these actual underrated gems out of everybody's sights that server was pure art and passion, taking minecraft's main goal as a game to its very core honestly beautiful yet sad to see such history actually ending this way, but this is the internet and i sure every member from it had some memories on that server, i wish them all their best lives moving on too
Nice to see another one of these! Your last video in this series completely re-invigorated our decade+ old server, resulting in renewed activity for almost a year now, with new and old players investigating the server. New friendships and a new staff team formed out of that, and we're making content again. Things have slowed down, but Runsafe is very much alive in 2024 compared to the ghost town it was. It has been an unexpected wild ride of past and present colliding, 100% ignited by your last video.
The whole section on HollowWorld hits right in the feels, as a long time WoW RPer I can say that your RP Characters become like a best friend. You get to experience all their triumphs and failures, learn to write or act with others or from others. RP communities go crazy (In the good and bad ways lol)
As someone who played far too much on a now defunct creative plots server between 2014-2017, this video is really awesome to see. It's an odd feeling to watch through someone else's story...because I wonder how many people explored what I had created after the server really faded. Thankfully I've been able to remain in contact with a few of its inhabitants over the years, and it's always fun to reminisce over old plot roleplays with them. Those roleplays have now fueled my desire and dream to become a writer and video creator. Having contact with the owner of the server afterwards has still been great, as he set up a private version of the server for a few of us more dedicated folk to keep building on, even if most of us don't have the time for it anymore. Last I remember there was talks of turning it public as a museum, because there's so much history of mine there that I simply would love to share. If any of you people played on MinecraftCloud back in the day, you likely would have known me as Biggy. I hope your life has been good and that you're doing well.
While there is something sad about forgotten destroyed minecraft servers, there's also something beautiful too. It's like a time capsule with years of memories on display for exploration, kind of like excavating an ancient civilization.
I never joined any of these servers personally, but there's a very deep, nostalgic feeling I get hearing about these, especially Hollowworld. I've always been really into fantasy and been the type of person to be really engrossed in stories like that- player made, fantasy roleplay with a whole world to alter and leave your mark on. I never had the chance for a long term one like that, but I'm so glad the players who dedicated hours of their time to it were able to. It sounds so fun, like a perfect escape, and I hope those people know how lucky they are to have memories like that, and treasure the times they spend on it. I know I certainly would.
Hey thanks for covering such a long important part of my life. As of writing this I've moved on from RP but if Hytale is any good I'd want to try and pick up the hobby over there. Hollowworld was a pretty cool place. Oh also Evil was a superficial rank on the fourms.
Happy this exists as a way to look through the old Hollowworld map whenever I want to see it again. Thanks for the coverage. Truly truly truly thank you so much for making this little time capsule for us.
22:20 The fifth user on the Top Playtime leaderboard, Ngis, is someone who I recall playing with on a survival server called BeyondVanilla between September 2021 and uh February of 2022? That was when BeyondVanilla had shut down. The owner (Dimo I think he was called) ran the server as a programming hobby project, personally coding all the plugins. So naturally, when Dimo got a proper full-time programming job, the server lost its appeal to him. Dimo said anyone who wants to host it could do so, but nobody was up for the task, so the server closed forever. I remember Ngis gave me a tour of their base-a solo project from what I could tell. Ngis started out by using a flying TNT duper and clearing out a huge chunk of the world down to bedrock. From there, presumably a town was to be built. However, this didn't get very far-the town basically had a small street with a handful of houses hanging over the vast abyss. There was also a raid farm built a long ways across the basin, but I don't recall any other structures in this area. I don't think much else became of the bedrock abyss base before the server went down. Ngis is definitely the type of person to clock hundreds of hours into a server for a massive project, so seeing that name here feels fitting, albeit shocking. I shared these memories because yelling at the computer screen about how I know that person was not enough to satisfy my sense of surprise. I wonder what Ngis is up to these days.
Hollowworld seemed like a beautiful little project. I hope forums and RP communities start picking back up. its a real shame to find things that have long been dead that have had so much work put into them. Hope someone brings it back in some form.
the HollowWorld comments are hitting extremely hard. during quarantine, i joined a similar server known as Stoneworks, and had a blast. fantasy world with RP, very similar thing to HollowWorld. Stoneworks is still up, but it’s very much a shell of its former self. all this to say, to all HollowWorld players, you guys are my people and i would have loved to play on your server when it was in its prime. i hope you can all find new opportunities.
Learning about HollowWorld and reading all the comments from actual players who were dedicated to it makes me so emotional. Like, man, this block game really does change people's lives.
it really does. I literally saw my older sister slowly come out of her shell through this, and it ended up helping me too. The power of a passionate and dedicated community is so amazing :)
10:50 that is such a surreal edit to me and it took me a moment for me to realise that it reminded me a lot of the Monument Mythos videos for some reason
dude props to you for reuniting so many random minecraft players from years ago :) i love scrolling through the comments and seeing people recounting their times
watching you go though these is heart wrenching....especially the hollow one where they probably had a whole game size player base in one server with the amount of passion and time...time truly is the be all end all
19:17 reminds me of when I was a server admin as a teenager, only to log in one day and discover that the owner had sold the damn thing wholesale without telling anybody overnight. Felt bad man.
These videos are just really sad honestly. I spent quite a bit of time on Minecraft, both single and multiplayer, from 2010-2014. I was part of a few servers, never stayed too long, but I was involved in a couple. My first one I forget the name of but from it came another server I believe, it was called Naturecraft if I recall correctly. Lots of good(well, debatable as I didn't really make any friends or any 'essential' or 'impactful' memories, but they are moments that happened) memories from Minecraft. Especially playing custom maps like all of the survival maps. Nowadays, Minecraft just doesn't feel the same for me anymore.
Man, your vids are the best. I’ve been around since the comprehensive internet horror timeline and your editing style, humour, and video ideas are truly perfect. Keep up the good work, I got no doubt in my mind that the zug brothers will be makin it bigtime someday
Such great memories on the Minecraft Addicts server, so many sparked by the short clips shown here - and yet so many more that could still be told, made lots of friends i still keep in occasionsonal contact with today. This was the "golden era" of gaming for me!
Listen here pal, if you ever make me wait this long for a video again I’m gonna be forced to take action (be unreasonably sad). Love the vids. Take it easy homie.
41:40 In some Creative servers you can modify the rules of the plot, like the game mode, so probably that plot was some kind of Parkour or Dropper and when you entered it changed game mode
as a writer and an artist with a major interest in worldbuilding, hollowworld could not be more impressive to me. i can barely write a paragraph of information for some of my most beloved OCs, so seeing that some of them had 20+ PAGES of lore was seriously insane. its so cool to see a group of people come together and worldbuild together like that, really reminds me of the old roleplay forums i used to browse as a kid that you really don't see on the modern internet anymore. i wish the lore and artwork could've been archived in some way just for reference, but i understand the struggle in having to keep something running long after it's dead. also killer7 music nice.
unfortunately thw server owner didnt allow the entire map to be saved because some players might not have been able to consent to folks having their builds and some actively didnt want it. but if you owned a region, you could have it archived by staff if you wanted
and also folks did save a lot of stuff on the forums to archiving sites. i couldnt for mine because i didnt know how and mine relied heavily on metadata that wouldnt be saved, so unfortunately they're all gone now for mw
I thankfully got my builds back, just took someone else asking for them as I had been banned from discord and the forums after drama that ended the server.
As someone who used to be involved equally in online RP and minecraft servers during my adolescence, this makes my heart ache. Thank you for documenting these memories, and not letting them fade out of existence unmentioned.
to answer the question for the real crafters from the bonus segment, id say adventure maps still get made, maybe less commonly (tho modern minecraft has considerably more powerful vanilla tools for mapmaking and custom stuff) but they still exist and ive played some semi recently. they are a lot less popular than they may have once been, but its still a niche
Man, you really have a great chill vibe to make stuff like this extra interesting. Great voice, excellently placed sudden humor inserts, a good attitude, and respect for that which you share. Keep up the good work as always, man.
dude i actually got jumpscared cause i used to be on the champions of equestria server like a decade ago omg, the server's race classes were pretty cool and the community was extremely nice. Not much else I can remember though, since it was so long ago but i definitely recognized the spawn and the first farm you encountered
I think the anime skins thing is part of a plugin where if you type a certain person's username in, the bot will use their skin. So likely, when it was made, those people had pirate skins, but have since changed their skins, resulting in having the immersion broken by Naruto.
Staff member of Farland here, can confirm that is pretty much exactly what a lot of it is, but in this case these guys are all normal villagers, not pirates, other than Old Shoe, who's backstory is more like retired captain than anything. We just decided to write dialogue around what we had when we got those results in places with some of them, but we may still change all that in the future seeing as it breaks the immersion (Might keep Mugen though as I do like the idea that he is a retired samurai that is one of the few to put up a fight during the pirate invasion). We appreciate the feedback!
I hope everything with HollowWorld got archived. I was on a server - Mayhaven - and it closed some time ago and nothing was really archived, so a group of us got together and made a discord server to archive what would could. It's a tragedy to see so much creative work disappear in an instant.
What actually happened was a decision that it was deemed unfair on people to have their builds handed out to anyone and everyone else who could then use those builds and claim them as their own to use elsewhere without the original owners permission. So instead what was done was schematics and chunk downloads were done of cities, towns, individual buildings were made and then handed out to the owners to keep their own little areas as keepsakes or for use elsewhere. The forums themselves were saved and archived by the owner, how that will be distributed at all is uncertain. But things are not *gone* permanently.
god damn, it's genuinely sad to see hollowworld go out like that. gotta be one of the coolest things i've seen in the past months and i definitely wished i've been there to experience it all, it looked so good and fun thanks for documenting the last moments of that server man. stuff like that you don't see very often
Never heard of HollowWorld and evidently never will again, however, I want to say a massive thanks for including a bunch of the forum posts. As someone who tries to archive every single piece of slightly obscure media I can find, seeing that the website is now down with all that history lost, thank you for showing a lot of the history of their world. You may be the sole person who has any fragments of that website.

Hi, I’m that maple, and I miss my friends :’)
good news though, Minecraft Addicts is being worked on again! we just put the server on a new box and are doing some stability testing :)
Hey, sounds like you found your friends again, happy to hear!
What was 2nd D-Day??
Humanity Restored
Hi Maple!
Hey what's this day I wasn't told about!?
HollowWorld being shut down feels like when the library of alexandria burned to the ground
EXACTLY -another hollowworld player
This is so real. We collected over 800 books :')
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1evJus_l3flZgZc4A3APiCIgVYKQLb29AFWLbcoS-aKA/edit?usp=sharing
It felt that way for sure. Even after a ton of drama I still miss the server and having something to do
It was exactly that, over 800 books written by hundreds of players over 10 years, gone. :o
There are libraries of Alexandria burning every day
I was an original player on Minecraft Addicts from 2011. I miss those days.
damn.
Could you go more in depth about the Notch's Agant thing. It's specifically the thing I came into the comments to look for.
@@depolicify Thanks! That's funny.
@@mleszzor6866and often people like that who came into the world would be given a special position if they wanted to be staff. That was called spider op, and they would be teleported inside the spawn spider that had a couple of random levers put in it!
You're saying how you discovered that the server meant a lot to some people: Man and then you're playing my songs (single tear)
I've got a whole album about this server, released on all stores "Tavern Songs From Altera" and it was the start of my professional music career (full time now).
This server was magic! It fuelled so many people's passions. It's interesting to see an outsider's perspective on HollowWorld right after it ended and the perspective on the end. Very interesting.
having a rp server start a music career is incredible. I hope nothing but the best for you man. The passion people had for that server was unmatched
@@sakk4818 Aye, thanks! Yes it really is incredible how the server supported all sorts of arts. At some point the art forums were more active than the actual minecraft server :)
This is an absolutely beautiful story! God bless ya and Jesus loves ya!
I don't know how you can handle this video. I wasn't even a part of the community, only worked on a server similar to it and almost broke down crying watching this.
Honestly, it seems like you would be well cut out to make some sort of lore server of your own
Did not expect to see myself featured on a random youtube video, but a first for everything. Aracena Mithtanil was my little baby, so seeing you scroll through the profile and find her remains made me smile. The feels, man. The feels.
I hope some of the lore is saved somewhere, it would be a shame if everything was lost media 😢
Man its 1am and Im here genuinely saddened by a Minecraft server I was never a part of (I dont even play minecraft lol) shutting down so abrupty and for seemingly no good reason aswell.
It's incredible how dedicated you and the others were to this server. I wish you and the others nothing but the best in life.
Is there any possible way you saved any of that lore? I’d love to read it.
@@Krosstic there were some in-character stories about the character I wrote and saved somewhere, but I don't have the whole server lore
I think I remember seeing ur forum posts about Lana, and the were so fun to read through even though I never interacted with her 😭
Wake! Nice to see you, it’s Soup, Suhkoiza.
Woah you guys seemed to have a cool community! I’m so happy that the world got to see just a glimpse of it in this video!
Hello Wake, was cool rping with you over the years. I had a blast playing Branko, a shame it died out but that’s how things go.
What did Dee do be warranted as Evill
I left the server I think quite some time before it went down, not gracefully either, but its still sad to see it gone, not just lacking players but seemingly not having archives of anything. The memories live on in the heart though.

@@marcobencini9941 He donated to the server, it was a donator perk. There was a matching 'Good' title that came with it.
I’ll tell you some more about that server incase you were interested:
Hollowworld had many plots and server-wide narratives throughout its day.
This all sounds really interesting, are we allowed to know the name of the new, successful server? :0
I don’t intend for this to be a way to poach people under the name of Hollowworld which evokes so many memories, I hope it isn’t taken as such.
drop the new server name omg im genuinely so interested
Can you tell us what the other projects are, if they're public? Hollowworld looks so incredible that i got so sad that i didnt get to experience it.

I wanted to let you know this video quickly made rounds in the small groups left kinda scattered around, while I speak more for myself the video I think hit a lot of us in the feels (in a good way) and it's cool that you actually looked into the forums and all that because it WAS a lot of work from A LOT of very different people.

Hey mud, nice to see you. Your art still slaps. It’s Soup. ❤️
Drinker of Applejuice made me chuckle a bit lol

I'm not joking when I say this is an award winning idea. Too bad they chose to do... all of that..
The beauty of minecraft is what the player decides to do with it. Can't really have that with a movie.
Man, HollowWorld seems so fucking awesome.
It's crazy to see how much better forums are than discord.
Hollowworld was so great. not perfect, the mechanics were contested and so was the magic system, but the committed community is what held it together. I have played a character who started as a 6 year old, grow into his 20s over the past five years just as the server closed and some people played characters older and even longer than that to the point of their children being played by players.
It really was awesome, I made some sick friends on there and did some really fun events
it was a really awesome time! I used to play on it for years and it breaks my heart to see it end because of silly drama. A damn shame but I'm more than privileged to have been a part of it.
Discord is just IRC with more features. Forums are where the real stuff happens.

And this is where I stop reading comments because some dude met his wife in minecraft while I can't get jack out here. Jfc wtf.

Yeah, I feel the same I wish I had been a part of it
While every single one of those projects and their communities truly are one of a kind, and they hold a special place to those within them, there *are* more of them out there.
@@goodknightunited5918please please please tell me some good roleplay servers if you know them! I feel like I can never find good roleplay smps
There are some great minecraft servers out there with great communities, you just need to look for them
Right so I already made a comment, but I did want to share my experience with the HollowWorld server because it is truly such a sweet thing that has a special place in my heart.
(Another great experience was having my character get possessed by a water spirit, but that’s a whole other story lol)
I truly can’t put into words how special this community and server was, and I am so so grateful to everyone I have met.
Sheer magic seeing them gather here recounting stories and more.

The sense of community you can get from these servers is wild
Thanks for taking a look at the server and including it in your video! The server used to be pretty popular and there were often videos that players uploaded of their time on it, but it's been a long time since I've seen one. It's nice seeing it in a new video, even if it's a "forgotten servers" video. XD
i remember watching ur unturned videos years ago, i had to be like 7 or 8 lmao
If a super dedicated World of Altera player made a book compiling all the lore of that server/world I would read TF out of that. I never knew a Minecraft server could be like that.

oh my god thatd be so hard. there were actually in character history books made. it's well over a decade of lore, some of which was very much retconned
We wrote actual in-game books too. As the maps changed and the world changed, those books moved from world to world with us.
@@theladyniek Bart Zeal's song "in the vast library" honestly hits me like a freight train. Its how I felt after reading all the old forum posts about the older Houses, Cities and Characters that departed that server.

Such a HUGE thing that clearly meant so much to so many people… all lost to time…
I am glad to see so many HollowWorlders talking about their time there.

Man, I really hope the Hollowworld site was submitted to the Wayback Machine at a few points (even if the Internet Archive itself is having problems right now...)
Incredible video as usual man, your investigative-journalism-style and genuine appreciation for the exploration, artifice, and human connection that arises from going through all these projects is wonderful to experience, and it's such a specific feeling to see all these games and servers which have fallen to the wayside nowadays (and I like that the MLP 'Friendship is Magic' server was ACTUALLY really friendly)
I also hope it was. Someone please tell me if it got uploaded. I would be so upset if it wasn’t
Out of all the perspectives given about the server in these comments I see yours as the most insightful thank you
The map for HollowWorld at 31:55 was made with Inkarnate- I'd recognize those assets anywhere. It's a freemium browser-based map-making program. I use it a lot for dnd and is a ton of fun to just mess around with. Great resource for anyone who does world building.

4:48 Your Dunkey impression is spot on dude
Reading former players of holloworld comments make me feel bittersweet, its like a massive dnd campaign just got destroyed, im so glad they are all having this experience because i bet it feels so fun to roleplay with a bunch of people as chracters
i feel so depressed thinking how people are just abandoning all their experiences, friends and memories and just keep living their real lives
i only hope they're doing well and the only deserted thing remains to be the server they've left
and yeah i liked your videos and your jokes so much, luckyy to be here since you upload so rarely
It’s very saddening to remember those sessions playing with random people and one day they won’t log in or something might have happened to them, so you lose your contact with them. I still remember fondly my gaming days when I first started to play multiplayer with uncharted 2 back in 2009. Wish I could go back to those days again.
Hollowworld might have been one of the best minecraft server in history
and what bothers me is just how the monopoly of minecraft servers nowadays just hide all of these actual underrated gems out of everybody's sights
that server was pure art and passion, taking minecraft's main goal as a game to its very core
honestly beautiful yet sad to see such history actually ending this way, but this is the internet and i sure every member from it had some memories on that server, i wish them all their best lives moving on too
Nice to see another one of these!
Nice to have another one of these. There goes my evening
Seeing how many people that deeply invested in Hollow Wood got to me a little bit, it’s just all so earnest!
Hollowworld seemed like a beautiful little project. I hope forums and RP communities start picking back up. its a real shame to find things that have long been dead that have had so much work put into them. Hope someone brings it back in some form.
Thanks for the showcase of MCA! If you want a full tour of the best stuff, let us know! (not the d-day server, I mean)
the HollowWorld comments are hitting extremely hard. during quarantine, i joined a similar server known as Stoneworks, and had a blast. fantasy world with RP, very similar thing to HollowWorld.
HollowWorld actually hurts to hear about.
I know, I had a feeling in my gut or heart I couldn’t describe
dude props to you for reuniting so many random minecraft players from years ago :) i love scrolling through the comments and seeing people recounting their times
havent watched this but i am from hollowworld and was sent this by a friend. insane to see this on here oh my god i cant wait to watch???
watching you go though these is heart wrenching....especially the hollow one where they probably had a whole game size player base in one server with the amount of passion and time...time truly is the be all end all
19:17 reminds me of when I was a server admin as a teenager, only to log in one day and discover that the owner had sold the damn thing wholesale without telling anybody overnight.
It's nice to see Pandacraft back on the map even in a 'forgotten server' vid lol. Thank you for covering it! Panda and I appreciate the look-see ♥
Man, your vids are the best. I’ve been around since the comprehensive internet horror timeline and your editing style, humour, and video ideas are truly perfect. Keep up the good work, I got no doubt in my mind that the zug brothers will be makin it bigtime someday
The last few days I’ve been rewatching all your videos over and over again. CLUTCH TIMING WITH THIS POST!!!!
"Hey guys I'll be gone for a bit but see you next month"
(Last seen 14 years ago)
babe wake up another hour long redlyne vid just dropped
Such great memories on the Minecraft Addicts server, so many sparked by the short clips shown here - and yet so many more that could still be told, made lots of friends i still keep in occasionsonal contact with today. This was the "golden era" of gaming for me!
HOLLOWWORLD REFERENCE OMG I LOVED THAT SERVER
Torilla tavataan!!! 🥳 cant believe you ran into and included a fully finnish server in the video, but im happy you kept it in
Listen here pal, if you ever make me wait this long for a video again I’m gonna be forced to take action (be unreasonably sad).
I saw all the comments about Maple missing his friends, i braced for it even.
It still hurt emotionally.
The Hollw World one was impressive. Too bad it closed but to think a Minecraft map was so full of worldbuilding. Hope they archaived their stuff.
unfortunately thw server owner didnt allow the entire map to be saved because some players might not have been able to consent to folks having their builds and some actively didnt want it. but if you owned a region, you could have it archived by staff if you wanted
and also folks did save a lot of stuff on the forums to archiving sites. i couldnt for mine because i didnt know how and mine relied heavily on metadata that wouldnt be saved, so unfortunately they're all gone now for mw
Haha, him trying to read Finnish texts sounded so funny. Br. One of the three Finnish viewers
I'm also one of the three Finnish viewers
dude i actually got jumpscared cause i used to be on the champions of equestria server like a decade ago omg, the server's race classes were pretty cool and the community was extremely nice. Not much else I can remember though, since it was so long ago but i definitely recognized the spawn and the first farm you encountered
as one of the few finnish viewers i am actually so glad everytime you explore a server from Finland!!
@@xXWarWolf1Xx Oh, that's a relief to hear.
god damn, it's genuinely sad to see hollowworld go out like that. gotta be one of the coolest things i've seen in the past months and i definitely wished i've been there to experience it all, it looked so good and fun
thanks for documenting the last moments of that server man. stuff like that you don't see very often
You know, as someone who collects art books I'd love to see one for the HollowWorld server. It sounds like a really nice way to commemorate it.
