Chomsky quote, "Success and failure are complicated things. Any serious struggle is going to have moments of regression. Things don't work out the way you expect, so you pick up, you go on from there. Anyone you can think of - civil rights, women's rights, abolition, all of them - it's a process. Take, say, the Bernie Sanders campaign. I get letters all the time or see things posted saying, "We tried, we lost, it's over, so I'm getting out.” That's not what happened. What happened was a tremendous success, an unparalleled success. Nothing like this has happened in US political history - actually, almost ever, since the real populist movement, the radical farmers' movement, was crushed by force. The spectrum of discussion has been substantially shifted. Things that were not on the agenda not long ago are front and center: universal health care, called for and amplified by the pandemic disaster; a Green New Deal, the result of serious activism by a small group of young people who occupied congressional offices; and the background was the Sanders success, and of young members of Congress who swept into power to support them. Sanders has made the tactical decision, which some criticize but I think is correct, to join the Joe Biden campaign and push it to the left. His associates are working on planning commissions, and in fact, if you look at the program that's emerged, it's further to the left than anything since FDR. It offers lots of opportunities. Now, this didn't happen by magic. It happened kind of like the Green New Deal. It happened by constant pressure and activism. That's the way the Left should conceive of elections. Pushing the button [for a candidate] is not the issue. It's the constant activism that is reshaping the array of choices, issues, policies. You don't win by snapping your fingers. Some things work, some things fail, and you pick up and go on from there. Take a case like the women's movement. A lot of you are old enough to remember how that happened. It began with very small consciousness-raising groups--groups of women getting together and talking to each other and coming to identify and comprehend that, first of all there is oppression, and that a better way is possible where we don't have to accept oppression. If you had asked my grandmother if she was oppressed, she wouldn't have known what you were talking about. Of course, she was hopelessly oppressed, but identifying it is not always easy, especially if no one talks about it. This is quite similar to the challenges faced by gamers today. So just getting to understand that you don't have to accept oppression, that you can be a free and independent person, is a big step. The women's movement took that step and kept going. There was bitter resistance. And there still is, and there's a backlash. But you just keep struggling for it. In the history books, there's a couple of leaders, you know, George Washington or Martin Luther King, or whatever, and I don't want to say that those people are unimportant. Martin Luther King was certainly important, but he was not the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King can appear in the history books 'cause lots of people whose names you will never know, and whose names are all forgotten and who may have been killed and so on were working down in the South."
I’d guess, “It’s quite similar to challenges faced by gamers today.” But I couldn’t source any parts of the quote in general. So I screen capped the clip then used software to extract the text from the image.
@@Daneelro incorrect. How dare you make light of Chomsky’s tireless devotion of his entire life’s work to the oppression of gamers. The actual spoof sentence was “Take for instance the Bernie Sanders campaign.” What he actually said was “Take for instance when your mom doesn’t give you vbucks cringe unpoggers unchungus.”
The Elon Musk shaped cutout was genius. A “people mover” that moves him and him alone. The logical extrapolation from his transportation schemes, such as the Hyperloop pod, which seem to exist to move a tiny number of people as inefficiently as possible.
I see you've been watching Adam Something! 😂 In all seriousness, great take! It's funny what details we fixate on and which ones we simply treat as wallpaper since it varies from person to person. Even Elon Musk's philanthropy -- His endeavor to "revolutionize" something as reliable as public transit -- Ends up reflecting his short-sightedness and titanic vanity. Like everything else he does, the Hyperloop prioritizes flare over function, spectacle over substance. Anybody else would be forced to justify such a frivolous investment to share holders but Musk is one of the richest men on Earth. The consequences and market forces that would typically force us to examine the material impact of any endeavor simply do not apply to him.

Your anti gun & anti freedom arguments hold no water. Look at or this way. It’s not that hard. East Germany was a horrific place to live and millions fled after the Berlin Wall fell in 1989. (Officially called the Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart). It was occupied by the Soviet Socialist creating poverty and misery. Russia continues to decline in population year after year just like many of America’s poorly run blue cities. People are now fleeing The Western Block (Ca, Or, Wa) as the alt-left gorilla militants use terrorist tactics to instill socialism that will ultimately cause poverty and misery. SJW’s are the bane of society and are the new useful idiots. Educated Americans are voting to peacefully leave Communist Oregon to escape the western block. Hopefully a peaceful resolution is met. When people leave cities and states in mass that means it’s no longer an ideal to live as the communist continue to cause harm. History proves that SJW’s, progressives/far left and communism bring poverty and misery while patriots bring peace and prosperity. At this point it is no longer prudent to wake up the sheep, it’s time to wake up the lions.

Head canon is that Bernie was cursed by a leftist witch in the year 1285 that he can't die until he brings about the workers' revolution to institute a dem-soc future with strong unionization, a strong social safety net that includes UBI, free public k-12 and college, M4A, etc
The bit with Bernie at the end showing off his gauntlet that says “not me, us” was badass. This is gonna sound really goofy but this actually inspires hope in me
Bernie often reminds us of how long other movements have taken. I mean, if Fanny Lou Hamer could persevere despite them beating her close to death, then I can get over some cynical mood and still try to help/contribute/organize etc
@President Joe Biden I think people are sleeping on the fact that for most of the video, this Bernie is Punished Bernie, and big spoilers for Metal Gear Solid V, but the character he’s based on, Punished Snake, is actually an entirely separate person from the original Snake and only exists to carry on Snake’s legacy. His actions are almost entirely up to the player. So in this beautiful art, we aren’t being shown the actual man Bernard Sanders fighting Elon Musk with a power fist, but instead it’s us, the phantom of Bernie’s movement, what we choose to do with his legacy and the incredible work that he started. And I think that’s beautiful.
This is absolute genius. I understand why you're drawn to Kojima's work, it's the perfect canvas to depict what at times can feel like a hopeless struggle against unknowable horrors. This was righteous, please keep it up.
I feel like that’s an excellent way to put it. However, with Kojima’s work in mind, I’m still turning over in my head the implications behind depicting this Bernie as Punished Snake and Hasan as Kaz knowing how the story in MGSV ends up. Is there something darker under this seemingly really empowering message? I dunno.
@@akorn9943 It depends how you look at it. Do you associate this with the image of MGSV that Kojima mislead us with in the advertising, or the incomplete clusterfuck he gave us? For the latter it means that he'll ultimately succeed but Hasan will help his son to kill him.

There was one spoof sentence inserted into the original quote. Can you guess which one?
I’d guess, “It’s quite similar to challenges faced by gamers today.” But I couldn’t source any parts of the quote in general. So I screen capped the clip then used software to extract the text from the image.

The Elon Musk shaped cutout was genius. A “people mover” that moves him and him alone. The logical extrapolation from his transportation schemes, such as the Hyperloop pod, which seem to exist to move a tiny number of people as inefficiently as possible.
That may be also inspired by junji ito manga "amygara's fault".

Everyone is forced to think the same with zero room for dissidence on how the country must be run and how the people must live with only state propaganda approved for distribution.

Alt-left tyrants like Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Castro & the taliban are anti US Constitution & anti 2A. It’s how they gained & kept control of the population. How do you not know this? What you don’t know about history could fill a warehouse. It’s frighting to think people like you want to join antifa/blm ranks in order to remove rights of the people.
At this point it is no longer prudent to wake up the sheep, it’s time to wake up the lions.

the character he’s based on, Punished Snake, is actually an entirely separate person from the original Snake and only exists to carry on Snake’s legacy.
