Imagine playing this game on release, and no one believing you how EPIC it is. Only for years later everyone realized you were Goddamn right.

If you've ever played these games before, you know that 90% of the explanations for everything lies in the codec conversations. For instance, he legit thought he was disguising himself with souvenirs. They explain how their corpses are talking (their bodies are basically 99% robot and their essence or soul or whatever is basically stored on a chip and sync with a cloud or something.)

Yeah all bosses backstory is in codecs which sucks as they have good backstory but as always with a Kojima game this has to much dialogue in codecs and not everyone will listen them

And they also lied TWICE to the Algerians, swearing to give them French Nationality if they fought in both World War and never gaved it to them.

And the war of independance of Algeria was also really bloody and messy to the point even 60 years latters it's still a trauma both sides are fighting over. (Just imagin USA is more open to talk about Vietnam War than France or Algeria about the War)
We could also talk about the Harki (Algerians enroled into French army that stayed loyal to France during the war and now despised by both side since they are Algerians (Muslim) but fought against Algeria's independance)
Or about the Pieds-Noirs (European Colons born in Algeria during the colonisation) that felt torned appart between their birthplace and the birthplace of their elders

Fun fact, George is technically not speaking English, but Jamaican Patois/Creole, a sort of hybrid language of English with various Western African languages (mostly Akan). It uses a great deal of English words, but uses them in a way that's more like Akan. For instance, the way to say "I am running" is "Mi am run". That's why they give him subtitles.

I appreciate how much extra information you can get just by using codec all the time. They give you so much random extra information. For example, the reason that enemies just explode after you defeat them is because part of their contract includes self-destructing if they can't fight back or escape.

So, this game is unironically prophetic in a TON of ways. I thought it was a joke even when it came out, but I'm replaying it and Sam gets rescued by a tiltrotor aircraft. The winner of the US advanced vertical lift system is a tilt-rotor design. That decision was made months ago and this game came out ten years ago.
Eveything in MGS franchise is prophetic. Kojima is a futurologist.

It just occurred to me that THIS is his first introduction to Raiden...MGS2 is gonna be an interesting experience for him.
to anyone wondering, yes you can technically get to raiden's breakdown scene killing only cutscene evil scientist and mistral, by cutting an enemy legs they are left unable to fight, and they despawn using some camo tech, doesn't change anything tough, just some voices lines here and there like wolfy mentioning how you have some humanity after all and maybe some coded calls, idk didn't test
Armstrong and Sundowner chew the scenery every time they're on screen, and it is GLORIOUS!
i love this game so much, it rides the line between super silly and genuinely cool. an upcoming game you should look into is fortunes run. i played the demo and its great
oh, and the reason they can still talk when theyve been chopped to bits is because of something called nano communications. its nano machines that read thoughts intended to communicate without speaking verbally. but that explaination doesnt make a ton of sense when youve decimated their head
honestly? the amount of effort put into the gordon Ramsey bits are hilarious. you had to go down and hand pick each line to match what was happening on screen, rather than randomly selecting voicelines from him. 11/10, instant sub and like.

They can call Raiden due to their cybernetics keeping their brain alive for just a little after they die. Sam and Armstrong never called Raiden, they just died as they had either limited or no cybernetics respectively.
AFAIK Sam's only enhancements are his cybernetic arm plus a truckload of steroids and whey protein

@@ksa7621 I played MGS; I just never play 2, 3, or 4. Next time you use a "well acshually" use the proper terminology.
And Armstrong is pretty explicit about what his nanomachines do. They make him stronger and protect him from harm, that's it. If they were able to function like a virtual Blackberry he would inform Raiden in some way as he, like everyone with a Fascistic ideology, wants to appear utterly superior to everyone else.
