PSB is the best band ever in my opioion. They have been around for over three decades and their music has always been great. This song is so beautifully written and the lyrics are so moving. It is so sad but still so full of live and hope....Just love it
The bridge is a reference to the Bobby O version of West End Girls. This was very sympathetically structured. Neil Tennant you have moved from being a great source of amusement to being one of the finest songwriters in TWO centuris of popular music and I cannot salute you enough. First the love for Dusty and now just the love for your words. From my heart to yours: BRAVO !

Pet Shop Boys seems to be one of the best bands ever, like Depeche Mode, A-ha, Tears For Fears etc. Does anyone agree? This song, A Face Like That, Breathing Space, Memory Of The Future and Requiem In Denim And Leopardskin are the best in Elysium in my opinion. Lithuania :)

Tears For Fears are really good, but not all of their albums flout ownable songs bar the singles, but their debut and their best one "Everybody Loves A Happy Ending'. Also the best females are Kim Wilde, Sandra, Kirsty MacColl and Shakespears Sister. Depeche Mode were never album people and their best run was in the 80s. Since the 90s, their singles have got blander and more overblown the more their hype cloud has mushroomed out of control. It's ridiculous there's a whole bunch of bands/singers out there whom starry-eyed fans and critics alike they do nothing wrong when their errors are often numerous and considerable. Most 80s bands and singers still going utterly rip them to shreds. With Pet Shop Boys they remain a more consistent singles act than Dep bleeding Mode, and this single is prrof of that, Even when songs like 'Somewhere', 'New York City Boy' and 'Single-Bilingual' have tried the patience, they always have enough to justify their continued roll forward through the years. I can't say I could own all their albums, or even two, cos there's usually some songs on them not wanted, but they've got more going for them than many, and I own the album "VerY" from 1993, and even thoiugh it includes a take-it-or-leave-it 'Go West' cover, its their most accomplished moment. Both Duran and them smashed the hell out of Mode with their 1993 albums. But then all my fave artrists do that to them, whatever year they release something, 'Precious' is by far the best song Dep Mode have done since 'Enjoy The Silence' and nothing since then! I might check out the rest of the "Elysium" album though to see if I can go beyond the singles. But I can't own all PSB albums, but bands them like them will always be more important than guitar based pomp like Simple Minds and U2. Generally your list's heart is in the right place, but needs a few popping out and even more added. If Alphaville and Sandra were allowed a more international stage since appearing (inbuilt prejudice to Germans meant the UK and US wouldn't bother beyond one song, even if that!) then they'd be better recognised. And Marian Gold's voice from Alphaville can even equal Morten's amazing pipes and delivery.

I totally understand where you're coming from. I lost my best friend in a horrible fire in august. These lyrics in this song really struck a chord and have helped me accept, understand and to continue living my own life. I just wish I had a moment to tell them today at the signing in shoreditch.

Along with Winner, I'm loving these lyric videos! Much easier to fall in love with these tracks. I learn towards the dance tracks, but Elysium is quickly moving up the ranks as a very warm and mature album.
