The Pet Shop Boys have been doing this for over 35 years now, a truly cerebral lyrical group who incorporates impeccable music and melody. I don't know if there's any other group out there like these guys today. I definitely dub PSB a Supergroup

@@Danimal1577 Not only synthpop. They have more original and interesting lyrics that many pop-rock groups which have supposedly deeper lyrics, which was my original meaning.

One of the best Pet Shop Boys tracks. Loved it from the first time I heard it.
I agree. True masterpiece. This one, Fluorescent, , The Last to die, and Thursday just got me right from the start. Since of course most songs anywhere take a couple listens to get the feel. PSB has a way of getting into your heart and imagination right off quite often.

Yes, and it's absolutely a shame that this one has never been allowed to be a hit altough it was a single. 20-25 earlier this would've been a sure number 1! Shame on today's record buyers (or rather: track downloaders) ^^
Ive followed Pet Shop Boys since West End Girls and this is one of the strongest tracks they have put out. Ever. After the mixed bag that was Elysium this new album is a definite pleasant surprise, and is a triumph.

I can't say how much I love this song. Firstly, the music in itself is brilliant, particularly with the 'sample' of Henry Purcell/Michael Nyman (which really brings that 'bourgeois' touch to the song, of course, hehe). But also : the lyrics. I love them ; they're hilarious and very clever !

Clever mix of two the 1980's greatest artists - Michael Nyman and the Pet Shop Boys. I love this...takes me right back to my youth and happy times in the early 1980's. Thank you Neil and Chris and all involved.

Chasing Sheep is Best Left to Shepherds is a piece of minimalist music from the soundtrack for The Draughtsman's Contract, written by Michael Nyman. It is based on a ground bass from the Prelude to Act III, Scene 2 of Henry Purcell’s opera, King Arthur.[1]

Musical and synth genius.
For a long time I have handled Pet Shop Boys as a crossover band geniously not turning classical music into pop music but the other way around. Listening to Introspective quite a few times has given me the notion that each piece is something like a movement of a symphony. On top of it all, this Purcell piece is the theme of one of my very favourite movies the Draughtman's Contract. All in one, thank you indeed Neill and Chris. God, what an experience it'd be to have a beer with you in Budapest.
After hearing the "comeback" hype about Electric, I expected a good PSB album. But I didn't anticipate THIS!
This album (and this track in particular) blew way past my expectations. I am in awe of their ability to constantly confound expectations. They're unstoppable.
This has to be one of the best songs PSB have released in years. Incredible. And they're the real deal. They ain't jumping on no bandwagon cos they built the bloody bandwagon 30 years ago.
A perfect moment for my soul : listen this music; sorry, better my trip over the clouds, enjoying the sunset, at the Atlantic Ocean, in my last trip to Amsterdam. WWWWOOOOOOWWWWWW ! ! !

Electric was a marvelous expression of our zeitgeist. Brought on from the mind of culminating experiences, mind and audio blend most perfectly in this chapter.
Best song on the album by a mile. Just can't stop listening.

Two of my favourite producers of music in one; Michael Nyman and the Pet Shop Boys :)
I've been both a Michael Nyman-fan and a PSB-fan since my teens, so this was a match truly made in heaven.
I'm just a kid that wasn't around to witness PSB the 80's, but personally, this track reminds me a lot of "Go West", so it's good in my books. Overall, I really like the album.
And "Go West" is very like USSR anthem.

To me, even PSBs songs I don't like much on first listen have an uncanny tendency to grow on me, and all of a sudden they're in rotation on my playlist. I started playing King's Cross for some mysterious reason about 4 months ago, and soon discovered that Traci Thorn had made a really cool cover version of the song. Neither this song nor Thursday hit me on first listens to the album as Axis and Vocal grabbed me first; now I am playing both a lot. Been a fan since West End Girls.
Have you heard the Claudia Brucken version of King's Cross? A good version of a great song and i know what you mean about their songs growing on you.

Once again, pet shop boys saunter along the tightrope that runs between the ludicrous and the brilliant. This could've been toe-curling, but it's perfect - throwaway pop that you wouldn't ever want to throw away.

I heard this a few days ago very early in the morning, listening to the radio. Instantly hooked. I lived in the Canaries for some years and while I appreciated the local music to some extent, my CDs of the Pet Shop Boys kept me sane!!
Let's face it though folks, this track is a cracker. It's going to be one of those tracks that is played at every party and it will definitely get everybody up on the dance floor. I can't fault it. Going to suggest it's played at next gym group!! Love it!!
