    Aight hold up, ain't no one going to talk about how you just pulled a second macbook out of a drawer in your kitchen? Am I the only one that was surprised? This happens on my M1 MacBook Air when plugged into a USB-C cable that's going to a display. It only goes on and off when it's off, when it's on, it charges (albeit slowly) via passthrough and displays on an external monitor. If it's just cable to wall, it doesn't happen. Not sure if that helps any, but I noticed similar behavior so figured I'd say something.

    Hello, I'm from Brazil, and I'm having this problem with my 14-inch MacBook PRO M1, is your problem only with the magsafe 3 cable? Using USB-C also has this problem or not? From what I've read, under Monterey 12.0.0 fast charging wasn't an issue for owners, it seems to be for those who updated to 12.0.1 D: Some users have said as a temporary work around until a new firmware update is released that after turning off the battery optimization / battery health management feature the issue goes away. Let me know if this helps anyone that has this problem.. funly enough I have an old 2012 macbook pro that is in desperate need of an upgrade with the original magsafe that has no charging issues lol I have my eye on these new ones but don't want these sort of buggy issues considering the premium you pay for them :S Am eager to see if this fix works for people..

    Noticed this since launch, not stressing as I presume it is firmware related. May point to charger as well. I saw many reporting to apple with them suggesting replacement’s still had issues with new machines. I just use a 85 watt brick to usbc. What bugs me is that no way they didn’t know about it. And worst of all, they leave there support team in the dark. I replicated this on all display models in store

    Hey, new here: Got the new M1 Pro 16" Mac and haven't experienced this, as I'm like you, in that I don't usually completely shut down the Mac. But I do notice that while on and being used, my Mac charges up to 80% until it just stays there. I have to manually toggle the option "Charge to Full Now" to get to 100%. Probably intentional MacOS pro-battery measure, but I hope there's an option to disable.

      This was fix in an update a week or so after this video was posted. They addressed it in the release notes, but it's nice to know they fixed it. Charging to 80% is good for longevity because charging constantly to 100% and then draining the battery isn't the best compared to 80%. It's similar for electric vehicles and how lithium batteries cells operate.
      All that being said, I disable it as well :) thanks for the sub

    Almost positive the issue is the 140 watt charging brick. If you have access to the 96 watt MagSafe charger, from the 14" MBP, try plugging that into the 16." I'm willing to bet that everything will work just fine which will confirm that the issue is the charger. The fact that Apple supports software workaround can provide a temporary fix also confirms that the issue is software. If it was hardware the software workaround would have no impact, not even a temporary one.

I wanted to know if my straight out of the box MBP has the same issue so I gave it a try... The answer is YES. So that bullshit recommendations won't fix you anything. Don't tell me there is debris on a charger that was just unpacked 15 min ago lol.

    I have the same problem. I was at the apple store to show this issue. Unfortunately, it then worked normally in the store when I tried to show the problem. At the "genius bar", an employee also assured me that this is not a known problem at all and sent me back home. At home I reconnected the macbook with the same charger and the problem reappeared.

  • @user-cw8st3wm4p
    @user-cw8st3wm4p 8 месяцев назад

    So hear what fixed for me. Get it enough charged using wall / other laptop / or your mobile charger. Then disconnect charger press power button for 15 seconds continuously. Then connect again your original charger directly from wall without shutting down lid. And it will start up. The issue I realise could be not enough power required to boot at launch, which we gave from somewhere else initially. Secondly the some unusual state persisted in cache or ram which we did reset using force shut using power button.
    So I was very upset as I couldn't afford apple warranty plans and I bought my new m2pro MacBook on emi with my salary. And apart from this issue the other I faced was speaker making some popping sound sometimes. However I never faced any issue ever when working on my company MacBook but has to happen with me.
    And yeah the speaker issue is the debris collected above the speaker inside the Macbook. I hope it will go away someday on its own or one day when I could afford a vacuum cleaner (I won't open the MacBook).

    I just got a m2 max 16 inch MBP and could turn it off no problem and after installing Sonoma public beta I just got this issue but even more bothering cos even if I ask the Mac to shutdown if MagSafe is connected it will each time restart the Mac , this doesn’t happen with usb c cable , it’s a brand new Mac m2 max and funny thing too if the lid is closed the Mac will not turn on but the MagSafe light will go orange , MacBook beeps and go green then same as on your video . I’m positive it is software cos I got it for 30 days and it happened just after installing public beta of Sonoma . If someone have the link to apple article’s about this issue please give it to me

      but it's a bummer cos I found out this models on Apple's Refurb for around 700 euros less , and I'm still surveilling the refurb and no M2 Macs since more than & week .. UPS willl come tomorrow for the return cos I prefer to wait for a new one , but did u tried to phone Apple support and report the issue ?
      I did this morning . u should and see what options they can offer you . Iknew it was because of this stupid Sonoma update ... I could have wait another month ... • @Enig_Mata
      @Enig_Mata 2 года назад

      Monterey has been causing serious memory issues on my 2016 MBP. In the past, I could have upwards of 40-50 tabs open no problem. The days, even 20 tabs is a problem. And i have to keep Mail off. If you can avoid Monterey, do so. It causes major memory leaks. Sometimes you can even use the machine for a 3-5 minutes. Happens several times a day.

       @Dayo Aworunse Yes. Got the computer back Sunday. They replaced the MagSafe port and that was the fix. When I met with the Genius Bar folks both said they hadn't seen this issue before. That was two people, the guy I met with when I dropped it off and showed him the problem. I then talked with another GB person when I picked it up. Told them both that the internet is littered with people talking about it. The only way Apple will instigate a "recall" or "free repair program" is if they know about it. Email/call Apple, get on their forum and try and get traction on this issue anyway and every way you can. That's the only way Apple will blink an eye at this. I'm not saying what they fixed is a fix for everybody but it did solve my problem.
