I had this same thing happen with ebay search the other day and thought i was losing my mind. I was trying to list a particular Abercrombie dress so I used google lens to try to find the style name. The first result was an active ebay listing. I list on desktop so when I searched ebay on desktop I couldn't find it. I had to just sell similar from my phone.

I found a box of my old comic books stored away in my parents attic. Mostly from early 1980s. I remembering going to the comic book shop every Thursday when they got in the new comics. To my surprise I have a lot of 1st issues of TMNT( Kevin Eastman) Groo, Wolverine, Punisher and a few obscure one like Cerebus and Lone Wolf and cub and NAM. Keeping them for now and re reading them. The nostalgia of youth !! Makes me want to play a Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

5:06 your proof ITS NOW OUR ITEMS!! lol i really have not compared year over year i just go with the flow as long as i can pay my business expenses my wife works 2 jobs so her checks pay our personal expenses and such but i took a deep dive into the number over the weekend and since 21 i have been increasing year over year nothing huge but then this year 2024 shocked me because it does not feel like it but at this point half way through the year i am already at what i made all of last year so if knock on wood i continue this trajectory i should do double what i did last year both in sales $ and amount of items sold trust me i was shocked but im really grateful and it will push me to work even harder and i really didn't do anything different then i had from prior years i only started promoting last summer 2023 in November 2023 i started to do the end and sell similar i have always been a consistent lister but as they saying goes if its not broken dont fix it so im just going to continue on doing what im doing and see where it goes eBay wise

10:12 and its fun that was the ONLY example out of many valid feedback removals that she stated why did she ONLY talk about ONE very fishy also more of a concern is the ones that leave negative or natural after you cancel the order when they asked to cancel if they request to cancel through the system and you cancel EBAY should remove there ability to leave feedback and eBay should give you an automatic POSTIIVE look they have already done that for years with the Detailed Seller ratings some of those ratings buyers can rate for example if there is free shipping buyer cant rate you on shipping it should be the same when you cancel an order that was requested by the BUYER they should NOT be able to leave ANY feedback and ebay should have the system give you and AUTOMATIC Positive sorry if posh and mercari can give you automatic positives if the buyer does not after 3 days then ebay certainly can give automatic Positives if a buyer cancels the transaction

14:09 no surprise there he obviously missed the memo from Jamie over the past year or so in almost every quarterly earnings call He has stated they are NOT going to be adverting's there not going to pay for adverting's this is how they are SAVING MONEY there not going to actively go after buyers new or old (in active accounts) its not on there to do list its not a priority (which i feel is a HUGE mistake) but they do expect people with Social media followings no matter where that is to ADVERTISSE EBAY for free i'm not sure what cloud Kevin is on but HE SHOULD know better asking TO BE Paid to advertise ebay sorry my reseller genie, American Bubble boy, or what ever other company he promotes and gets paid to do it those companies are not ebay he might get paid from those companies BUT ebay WANTS IT DONE FOR FREE they feel hey your making SO MUCH money on ebay in there minds they feel Kevin and any other YTer that makes a living on ebay should be greatful to be able to do that and in return should GIVE THEM FREE advertising if Kevin or anyone else thinks differently they are just fooling themselves. And frankly it comes off that they think they are entitled. btw the ebay partnership thing is an affiliate thing

Greetings Benny, points taken. Reality is yTubers who look towards or create video's likely represent less than 1/10th of 1% of said communities. The vision of eCommerce or even local commerce being fair to all is smoke and mirrors and pretty much always has been. If you tier from top to bottom from corporations down to the cottage selling community there exists much mish mosh at all levels. For example Walmart its been said makes over 1 million a day just on penny overcharges. Look at results of "Zone Based Pricing" in retail and it can be shocking! There are retailers who charge more in poor community access points than middle class access points because the poorer demographic tends to be using social services monies. Its not huge variations but in whole significant, same with gasoline where it is significant.
Now if we float down the chain we'll find open marketplace sellers even though want claim professionalism are actually the least professional in ecommerce. Nothing new, not at all. eBay for example claims basically everyday they are removing over 240,000 listings that are disallowed or in question. We could venture across every major retailers websites and not come up with that number within authorized chain daily, monthly or likely even annually. Points of sale in open marketplaces have never been the problem, its always been buyers and/or sellers resulting in reactionary measures by said marketplaces that impact all vendors. I've been engaged in this stuff since 1995 and have saw sites come and go, the open marketplace opportunities are far far less than they once were.
Today is no different than yesteryears in the evolution of eCommerce. Things are changing and most those changes do not favor independent sellers. Its the big picture not the focal picture of say eBay. For example you'll see all forms of comparisons of eBay to Posh, Amazon, WhatNot, NotWhat and WhatNow? Yet the biggest impactors are the likes of Walmart and large retailers mainstreaming the Web, this is where buyer traffic is going. Walmart is approaching over 400,000 external resellers using their venue and they demand low price and the company doesn't fart about, its a true dictatorship. Other retailers are following in Walmarts shoes sort of embracing the surplus, delisting (aka: moving from current to not current products) channels to bring blowout deals to the consumer. The concept is same as in retail in upsell. This shirt at Kohls was $49 MSRP with costing of of $32 consigned under Net Terms lets say. Six months later its delisting no longer current by the manufacturer brand. Now the manufacture wants recover costs and a little more. So lets say shirt is now $14 and 48,995 sit in warehousing, store warehousing, backrooms. Kohls would usually return said product for "Credit" towards current product as defined by the consignment Net Terms. Thats changing. Now Kohls can blow those shirts out at $19 or even less making arrangements that can vary widely with the manufacturers. These 50, 60, 70, 80% of bargains draw consumers BIGTIME and those consumers have finite money. There is simply no way small sellers can compete "for those dollars" against the gigantic supply chain. Its just not possible.
You'll hear sellers howl away "eBay is loosing buyers!" but not a single one of them will tell to where! LOL. Think WhatNot or WhatNow or DibDib, DubDub, Mercari are drawing off mass buyers? No. Its the big big guys drawing off the buyers. Two reasons, VALUE and TRUST.
There are always folks who want sink into conspiratorial prose no matter it eBay or global warming and much between and they may have portions right. But human nature tends to try focus versus looking at the larger picture and that picture in online commerce is changing. It's changing more now that it ever has in all my years since 1995 and it's changing on so many different fronts and in so many different ways the lions share of sellers dont see that full picture. Even if they care to seek out the information to see the big picture they cant change it.
Now Kevin, he's a very smart fella on how he goes about doing what he does. He's humble, he's worked to build his brand and its far far far more work than he displays in videos to be sure. He loves doing it whereas most of us really dont even if we say we do. He's was a history teacher and the mindset of historians fascinated by the human condition within history and cultures is all about challenges of the times and how they were or were not overcome. Its a different mindset and I know it well. I'm an armchair historian but a software engineer so known logic plays into my mindset. I'm not in mode Kevin is but I once was and grew my genre of merch sales to be the 4th largest on the web back in the day. If I were to examine Hayfro's merch, likes, goals, possibilities a roadmap will appear to me to make it happen but the work involved especially these days might be double or more what he's accustomed to as well as the risks.
I've been asked many a time over many years to be a content creator, I've been asked to appear on some of these live seller chat's but I dont see why I would? If sellers are unwilling to even understand the common supply chain that they use every single day but instead want be the modern day "Sanford and Son" then what money comes or doesnt is due to their being an "Online Flea Marketer" at prices that are far far beyond that of flea market vendors whilst trying to compete for the consumer dollars. That equation just falls right apart UNLESS one is building a brand for consumers to remember, one that they LIKE shopping with.
If you hear say Kevin say, "Good weekend, made $1200..." Ok. But back in 2000 that $1200 be more like $6000+, things change.
