  • Interesting facts about figs
Fig is one of the ancient fruits. In 372 bc, Theophrastus, the father of botany described hundreds of types of figs in his works.
Figs are consumed raw, used for pies, tartes, desserts, made marmalades, chutneys and sauces out of them. Figs are not recommended for people with diabetes and gout.
Figs are rich with vitamins, microelements, proteins and carbohydrates. It is especially high in potassium (which is necessary for the work of the heart and blood vessels) and iron (which helps to prevent anemia).
DO NOT REMOVE THE STEM! Such figs retain their beneficial properties; it is very useful in cardiovascular diseases; and ESPECIALLY USEFUL FOR MEN😜
    Ingredients:
    Figs 2kg
    Sugar 1kg
    Water 250 ml
It looks great and tastes even better. Hope you like it.

Guys, this is a MUST TRY! The preserve is not too sweet, is very tender and light. This is when you don't hate yourself for eating sweets 😝😊. Let me know how you like your preserves👍

Very different than any other way I’ve seen . Also interesting of the how & why you do it this way. I’ve canned on my guessing for years. Thank God no one in my family was harmed. At 75 my kids bought me an electric canner because where we moved I have two big fig trees. I’m scared of the pressure canner & Ive worn out two pressure cookers in my life time. I’m actually getting a whole new education on canning. And Thank You God for protecting my family. I’ve now canned about 70 pints of jello fig preserves & some just figs. Getting better as I go. Dear Lord I just bought a bread maker. It’s going to be another education learning how to use it. Lol

I like to add a few slices of ginger to the syrup and then scoop them out before adding the figs. Just to add a slight spicy flavor to the fig preserve.

Next year I will try this. My figs are totaly brown when I use them to make jam. I use only 0.5kg suger on 5kg figs plus a litle cinnamon , because they are so sweet from there own. Grtz from Belgium

I made this last year and I had enough jars to last me up to 2 months ago. We should start harvesting any day now. 😋

Ours will be the second harvest. They are rather small and green. We need at least a month or so.
But then we will have them till early November 🤗

Oh yes, I did see them 👍
