That ir thermometer measures surface temp, not the temperature of the air coming out. Metal also holds heat longer so it is inherently going to read higher than the plastic vents that were there before. Don’t forget you also removed the hood liner which adds to the mount of heat getting to the vents. Would have been a closer comparison maybe if you removed the liner before you measured the plastic vents. The before and after comparison the way you did it just doesn’t check out. I appreciate the video to at least see the install, I’m definitely sticking with the stock ones for now.
How is the cooling on the highway? I opened up my stock vents and removed the whole bottom and noticed that my temps went up since air was flowing in from the top of the hood and down on the engine. This caused a pressure differential where the air would not flow through the radiator as well.
I haven't taken any hard numbers to reference, but when looking at the dash it's seemed be about 5 degrees cooler when headed up inclines. I can def see the heat rolling out of the hood at slower speeds. I've also got the 3.0 ecodiesel, so that could have something to do with it as well.
I'm proud of my diesel also, berrylash asked about where you got them, you gave him ebay website for black I need white like yours cannot find them in white.

Like your video, and also rain tray idea.
Powder coat is flexible so you can bend them after the fact once they are installed. About 10-12 degrees or until the touch.
Good to know! When I bent them back I was doing it nice and slow and nothing ever happened.
Damn it, now I have to add another part to my build list! 😂 Great video! 🤙🏻🇺🇸🤠
haha! thank you!!!
Nice 👍 where did you get the 3.0 L turbo diesel stickers on the hood ?? I want to get extreme recon stickers like that !!

I think if you message the seller they could probably make you some! Or check their store for more options.
Are those hole on the stock vent are stock?
yes they are!
What's that overhead rack you have in the cab?
It's a part of the front dash bar, its a Rockhard4x4 Sport cage!
That’s water temp not oil.
Ah, you're right and I misspoke. Good catch!
