Great video. It opens up a lot of possibilities with tubes. Next time out on the ice, I think that I will try a tube over a Swedish pimple to see if that works. It will have the weight to bring it down. .
The one thing that I found that was interesting about the vertical approach is that you get the action of jigging spoon as well as the light fluttering action from the tail at the same time. Very eye opening even for first timers that are getting into the big game world and getting the right kind of trolling weight , treble and tube body in bulk packs is so affordable. And if desired add herring, smelt or minnow scent/spray on the tube, now you have the profile, scent and made a simple system even deadlier.😊
Hi Doug love the video could you share your settings for us on this deep wAter also have you used megalive on 80-100ft of water ans what are your thoughts? Thanks so much! Thanks again!
Another great video😊 I see your sonar is a Helix 9, what is sku # for the ice fishing set up? And can you use it in a open water set up on boat? Thanx, your info and equipment is tops😉
Love your videos, man! With your tube rigging/modifications, have you tried putting a bladed treble as the stinger? You use VMC hooks often and they make bladed trebles that I use on lots of my baits (tubes and lipless cranks).
I do and actually did on this day on the treble of my stinger but I think they nip the bottom of the stinger then vs the ends of the tube tails so might miss a short strike or two. I know I missed one on this day.
About that bent sinker, I have used banana sinkers before, not quit the same, but same principal. When I was guiding in the NWT, we did a lot of vertical jigging, after a while the trout would shred the tube, so I tried fishing without the tube, and wouldn't you know, they bit on the sinker too, without the tube. About that fish under the ice, Gord Pyzer has an article out there that suggests that after mid winter, some of the trout start relating to the bottom of the ice, just as if it was the bottom of the lake. If I can find a link, I will post it.
It’s a sonar not a gill net, even with all the advantage you don’t get every fish you see. I fished for yrs without electronics, now I wouldn’t fish without them
Thanks for the tips I'm heading to Blue Mesa reservoir in February I will definitely try the vertical tube
Great videos bud

Forgot to ask you about your rod storage plastic box, what is the make ,lengh? Thanx

I was wondering where you found the pencil weights in the 1 oz with them ends. Can’t find them anywhere. Thanks in advance.
Great video as always Doug.

Hey Doug! Could you go over your Snowmobile setup? Ordered a 2023 Skandic and looking at all kind of rigging setup already! Great video, cheers
Yes I will I’m getting mine rigged up this summer for the 2023 ice season.
i noticed you tie directly to the tube. I have problems with line twist when i do that. do you ever use a snap swivel?

Great video! What size is that VMC treble stinger hook? Looks like either a #1 or a 1/0.

Hey where do you get your 1/2 ounce 3/4 ounce jig heads from like the one in your white and chartreuse tube?
Droptine tackle. Thacher makes them for a few local tackle shops.
It took awhile but we finally have the tube jig with stinger available on the website. Limited stock at the moment.

That’s awesome thanks for taking the time to find that for me!
I'm hoping this will work on Utah flaming gorge lakers.
That's not fishing man...Looking at the sonar and waiting at the fish coming in... No fun.
Looks like alot of fun to me.
@@mikegray7326 you need to give the fish a chance too otherwise it's pointless.
Being able to watch a fish act on a bait is perhaps the most electric and exciting this a fisherman can do.

Anything that helps put meat on the ice is a good thing.
