Jay... After watching this video last year, I used this exact same technique and caught my biggest Laker ever at 38 inches!!! Thanks for the tip and help to get my PB!!!
Thanks Jay for taking the time to explain your set ups. Every one has different tricks and techniques, but yours are proven to work. It is very helpful. Down to the shop I go to get ready for March lakers that are starting to turn on!
nother great video. You and Clays videos have me finding and chasing pike and Lakers in my great State of Maine. My buddy and I are planning a trip up your way for the future when everything is back to normal. Thanks for all you do!
Mainer here too. I fish Sebago pretty heavy in early spring and late fall but very rarely through the ice which is odd as im only 20 minutes from there.
Mainer here too. Much further south though. Planning to move to the Greenville area in the next year or so once i finish the work on my house and get it sold.
Jay, I regularly tie a Palomar knot. I left a 8" tagline when tying that knot so I could tie another treble onto it. If I were to use this to lay a 6" Cisco on the bottom, do you think this rig would hold up against a laker 25" and smaller? Huge fan of your content!!
Hey Jay, I love how you included the how-to quick strike rig. Could you do that for your sliding quick strike rig for pike as well please? I'm going to Buffalo Bay to set out some tipups with my kids like you did last year in your video with Avery.
I have a few questions id love your opinion on. When and on what set ups to use a barrel swivel on. Mostly crappie perch gills, with some walleye in the mix for me
Hey Jay. Another great video. Thanks. Curious about a couple things maybe you’d be willing to answer. First - no weight to keep the bait down? Next - here in Maine some of us use quick strikes for for Pike but rarely for lakers. We tend to tie them a bit different. We tie them so both hooks hang at the same length. Mostly because we often suspend the bait 6”-12” off the bottom and having the hooks at the same depth allows the bait to hang parallel to the bottom. So im curious why you tie them one above the other? Is it because your bait is always on the bottom and therefore laying flat? Do you never fish them suspended? And if so, do you rig it the same way? Thanks in advance for any input.
I fish lakers on lake champlain NY, and if I run any leader over 10lb you won't get bit at all, its a whole different ball game for our fish then yours, I use a frostbite smoke show with a 2000 size diawa, 10lb braid with a 8lb floro leader, I mostly jig spoons for them.
Jay an amazing presenter and communicator doing a peice for leatherman, manufacturers of quality products. Can you name a better recipe for success? When I heard that man I got excited!!!
My first time ice fishing, I went for lake trout and I was doing everything wrong. I had a 24" ul rod, using 2lb mono and a 1/10 Oz Swedish pimple. I went to the middle of the lake and dropped to the bottom. Fished for about 4 hours with no bites, so I decided to move and absolutely burned my spoon in. About half way up the water column it got smashed by a very sizable laker for the lake I was fishing - about 15ish lbs. The fight was silly since I obviously couldn't crank the drag down. It did some crazy runs and I was shaking the entire time. After about 10-15 minutes, I got her up to the hole, but the ice was about 20" thick and I hesitated reaching in there. The bait popped out when its head was next to, but not in the hole, and I hesitated again before reaching all the way up to my shoulder to grab it. I touched it, but couldn't get a hold on it, and I watched my pb laker disappear through the ice. Huge bummer.
Use a loop to loop knot like you would use for attaching fly line leader to the floating line - you can also do a perfection loop knot with the braid and an improved clinch knot to the loop you just made. I use both of these but have found that a loop to loop using two perfection loop knots works best. *I live along Lake Superior where we are catching +40in lake trout so this has proven to handle some big lakers! Good luck and stay safe
Pulled out the big buddy for the few times I needed the extra BTU’s. 95% of this season the flex was enough. Flex is my preference for portability and the cooker 👌
I fought a lake trout (15lb) saw him once on Monday and it broke my reel cause I was using a to small of reel and it almost spooled me then it snapped my 20 pound line.
I'm sorry sir to bug u due to my deaf. The closed caption is on wrong lanauage. It's is Vietnamese lanauage oops. I read English 🤪🤪 thanks man can't wait till caption fix 🍻
How to fish lake trout: Step 1, fish one of the best lake trout lakes in the world - lake of the woods. Step 2, drop almost anything down the hole with a hook. Step 3, reel in fish.
Jay, your editing, filming, personality in front of the camera are all on point. Now your need to step your merch game up.
AGREED! Where’s the MERCH!!!

Hey Jay, great vid as usual. Is there any way you could include a Barometric pressure reading at some point during your video. Thanks
Great suggestion! I'll see what I can do!
Any good suggestions or tips for storing the treble hooks on the tip up for transport?
That's a sweet finder.

Hi Jay what kind of portable ice hut do you use. ? Great video by the way thanks. Ice fishing here is done on the March 15 on Lake Simcoe.

Where can you find yellow braid!? I’ve checked Cabellas and The Fishin Hole and haven’t found anything. Love the videos!
Power Pro. Usually buy online!
Sebile vibrato. All i have to say for hands down the absolute most effective lure for lakers. If you havent, give them a try.
Awesome Video Jay!
Thanks!
Love your confidence bro
What kind of under water camera do you use I can never find one quite like yours
So when fishing lakers which is best for dead stick live minnows or a dead one lying on the bottom?
Thanks again for interviewing with me
Definitely going to try that I live on Georgian Bay
Next week is ice camping for Lakers...this video comes at a perfect time lol

Hey Jay, I have only found that OT hoodie on an American website with no option for shipping to Canada? Any idea what I could do?
I'm sorry I'm not too sure! Best of luck!
5:50 Really thought you were going to say Clayton Schick and Justin Jenkin
How much weight do you put on the rig to help get the cisco to bottom?

You don’t have trouble fitting reels on your frostbite rods?
Do you ever target browns through the ice?
Great video guy!
Glad you enjoyed it
Why can't you post every day?! I can't wait a whole week anymore!! Lol
Haha sorry. I do my best!
@@JaySiemens I know, I know!! Keep posting bangers dude. And tell Sam I said hi! Lol
Up in kenora fishing right now in the ice castle your featured caught a tank of a laker dead sticking a minnow at 330am
Thats awesome! Congrats!
Hey Jay, if you put a 15’ leader past your swivel, do you get issues while reeling it through your eyes on your rod?

Meet ya up the Jones rd this weekend!

I noticed no Buddy Flex! Seems like the consent is the regular buddy's are better.
Pulled out the big buddy for the few times I needed the extra BTU’s. 95% of this season the flex was enough. Flex is my preference for portability and the cooker 👌
that was sick
Thanks!
Even better way to connect line and leader is to make a loop in the leader and then a uni-knot with the braid onto the loop. Never fails me
Good to know!
It's nice fishh💎💎
I fought a lake trout (15lb) saw him once on Monday and it broke my reel cause I was using a to small of reel and it almost spooled me then it snapped my 20 pound line.
