Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra - Real Day in The Life Review (Battery & Camera Test)

- Опубликовано: 26 мар 2023
- In today's video, I put the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra to the test by bringing you guys along on the adventure through my day in Edinburgh to capture both photos and video. I was genuinely pretty impressed with this smartphone and it’s ability to produce stunning images, even in low-light settings. However, when it came to video, I did notice that the iPhone 14 Pro Max seemed to perform slightly better in terms of quality. Nonetheless, the S23 Ultra's camera is still a top contender in the smartphone market, offering versatile features and great all-around performance. If you're in search of a phone with an excellent camera and the latest version of Android, the S23 Ultra is definitely worth considering.

The Samsung is just a better phone compared to the iPhone in my opinion ❤

Matt Bro.. y’all did an Amazing Job on the Video.. very outstanding, I really enjoyed it a lot .. the Moon 🌝 Shots were great..😎👍
What a beautiful city..my son is currently there doing Geology at the university of edinburgh..can’t wait to go there this summer..
That’s great hopefully the weather is nice for you, you’ll get some great photos. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video mate! Really enjoyed it 😊
Added an excellent taste to regular mobile reviewing style . Love it bro . Keep rocking 😎❤
That thumbnail is so clicky 😉🔥
Woah Wingstop is new where you at just blew my mind I didn’t even know they had restaurant overseas
That is a pro video...
Pls do more of the day in the life videos 😍🔥🔥
I appreciate it so much 🔥
The picture of the"moon" that you took with your pixel also showed what the S23U showed as far as the image details, but not as detailed as the s23U. I saw it in the angle you was holding the Pixel in but you quickly cut the video clip
It was super bright so hard to see on camera but I put both images on the screen in the video. I also shared it on my Twitter side by side if you want to check it out there
14:42 Check out here to see the photos side by side
@@MattRobb ok
I've watched the video a few times at the 13:49 mark, and it does look like Kevin's assessment is correct. IMO...
This is a nice video, loved the intro btw....
Thanks bro 👊🏻
All you are facing problem with screen figerprint lock ?
What presets did you used in your video?
The video was freaking excellent. Visually, it was pretty sweet.
Thank you 🙏🏻
On samsung S23U u can control cameras and adjust exposures ETC by manually and take pitures
Seriously underrated channel!!
Thank you!!
Edinburgh! The most beautiful city I have ever visited! At that time I was using a galaxy s2 - lol. I wish I could be there again someday.
Awesome you’ve been here dude, the S2 didn’t have the greatest camera compared to phones today that’s for sure. That must have been quite a while ago!
Ultra is the one had mine Since March never goes wrong!!
I took mine on my first trip ever, and I'm glad I had it as my phone, I was able to capture almost everything as it's a first experience for me, and I like revisiting the inages and videos...
4 day trip and I used up almost 95gb worth of images and videos lmfao
You certainly did capture EVERYTHING @Regne!. 95Gb!..😅😅 Mind you, if you record video at 4K60 in high bitrate mode on the S23 Ultra, I have found that a 10 minute video takes up @10Gb!. 😮👍
@@neilmcguinness4422 I literally did lol it was ~2.5k photos+videos total! , tho on the 3rd day, I noticed recording at 8k (on kind of dimly lit places) and then just screenshotting for photos was better than doing night mode / 200mp, so that took a lot more space, as well
Straw Hats in the background
Love to see it 😍
Good job bruh
At the end, the indoor video quality and the sound looks much better on the Samsung..
The end of the video was filmed on my iPhone 14 pro max as I was holding the Samsung in the shot. Did you mean another part?
@@MattRobb😂 sorry i didn't finish the whole video

That’s okay bro 👊🏻
Do you use a screen protector for your phone? If yes what do you recommend? Thank you in advance for your reply.

iPhone processing is dont in real time so what you see in the viewfinder will be the result. Pixel used to do this but removed it, and now both pixel and samsung require time to process after the shot - this is most noticeable in hdr situations where the samsung s23u will blow out a bright light but after processing the shot will look great. I wish the pixel and samsung would add this feature back so the viewfinder accurately reflects the capture.
Just turn off scene optimizer if you don’t want any post processing from software.
Where is that option
Unfortunately, I can't get this runtime with my s23u. 4 to 5 hours screen on. In the morning after charging with battery protection, it goes from 85 to 79 percent within 30 minutes of Screenon. I always wonder with these videos, how to get these long battery life?!
У меня 8-10 часов экранного времени
I wanted the exclusive sky blue but the price is too much 😂
i got the phantom black after a few months as there are great discounts now
in my country the s23 ultra 256gb is the same price as s23+ 516gb so of course id get the ultra
i would go for the base s23 but i wanted something bigger than my current s10
Planning to get the S23 ultra black colored
Fantastic looking video 👍
Many thanks!
Really enjoyed this video, great job. I’m really enjoying my s23 ultra. I’ve got the green colour with the uag monarch pro case which I love, and it gives me great protection.
The green colour in my opinion is the nicest looking 👌🏻🔥
I got the green color too
@@maxlangleyjp enjoy your phone. I certainly am mine, it's a beast. And it's nice to have the snapdragon chip set and not feel short changed.
@Robert Barnes I love mine to and I used to own s22 ultra and it is so much better I don't think battery changed not that much
@@maxlangleyjp were you using the exynos version of the s22 ultra? I have come from the s21 ultra exynos 2100. The phone was good tbh, but I still felt short changed, that I was paying the same money and not getting the same product as some people.
9:56 just so happens that the Oppo Find X6 Pro is on your Instagram feed. I'm considering between the S23 Ultra and the Oppo Find X6 Pro, the 1 inch sensor in the Oppo is really tempting
Ive not used that device so can’t really weigh in on it. Let me know what you decide to get🔥
@MattRobb I'm using a S21 Ultra right now. It's good, but battery life isn't fantastic. Unfortunately the Oppo x6 Pro is only available in China, but there are people who import it to Singapore to resell. Worried if it has Google mobile services...
This guy's voice feels soothing lowkey!!
Thank you ☺️
I'm using natural screen mode on my samsung and I can tell that they're really different interms of Image processing, I mean you can tell if it's shot on samsung or iphone. In the end I still edit my photos before posting. 😂
Samsung: 💙 cooler
iPhone: 💛 warmer
My thought on this video (from a s23u user perspective).
I'm pretty sure you have some option that is really impairing your camera performance. Your video look nearly as good as they should. Too magenta in that against the sun video shot, too blurry in the night, too sharpened in the ultra wide indoor video. You should really use the camera assistant just once and set the sharpening to mid level, and adjust once your video tone. Also, never seen a 4k 60fps video so low on quality in broad daylight. I can't understand what's happening but that's not the same phone i use, and I literally have 220 GB worth of photos and videos in it already. Also, the 200mp shot is awfully grainy, i'm pretty sure it was due to hand movement, you can set the settings of higher mp photos to improve quality instead of improve velocity. It should crush the iphone 48 mp once done that. For all those who says "BuT ThE IpHoNe StOCk CaMeRa iS BetTer, you don't have to change nothing!" Well, shame on you, it takes 20 sec to set everything and have better image quality, and have an infinitely wider range of possibility for the rest of your 2 years of use. Apple tune the camera for you and you cant change anything after you buy it. I prefer having all the possibility with the raw app integrated in my phone too for when i want something different. Also i changed those settings at day one and never came back, so it's just that, once and you are all set for good. Hope you read and even reply if you feel like it. Nice video, you deserved a like!
It’s likely because I zoomed in the 4K 60 so I could have it side by side with the iPhone footage. I also slowed it down because the video was in 30fps so you wouldn’t be able to see the full 60fps frames.
From my experience the Samsung videos look better when viewing them on the phone but as soon as you export them and play them on a proper monitor they seem to look flat and grainy unfortunately. I might make a cloudy drive with all the files so people can check them out for themselves.
Is it worth buying for photography and gaming? Please reply 🙏 thank u
For both yes but there are probably better gaming options but for both its probably the best out there right now
Im rocking the same combo of 14pro max and S23Ultra since last 9monthe I have to say the S23ultra is amazing oroductive device with improvision over uears and also with new oneUI6.1 update its became really amazing. The ultra just need to be optimised for the video thats all
Yeah I feel the ultras video has too much processing wish they would tone it down
@@MattRobb yeah they just need to decrease the saturation and contrast a bit and boom they’re the perfect for videos and photo will appear same in social media app when posting directly from the app. Well here goodlock can work in tuning the camera
my man got the straw hats, lets gooooo
Straw hats?
Even my s22 plus has great cameras battery is ok lasts a day and 8gen1 petforms great yeah it heats up but only on heavy gaming
Outstanding visuals ♥️☺️
Thank you 🙏🏻❤️
One piece wanted posters on the wall 👀
Way prefer my s23 ultra over my 14 pro max. 14 pro max is in a drawer right now until the 15 pro max comes out then I’ll trade it for that but to be honest I’ll probably still use the s23 ultra more
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is better than the iPhone 14 Pro in every single category.
Far superior phone
Nahhhh
The 14pro can be compare with the 23+. The ultra is too much for any phone right now
@arbon haliti it's better in most.. that crap lightning port on the iPhone for a start.
Fact
200MP to get close to 48MP.
Video etc I phone blows Samsung away, didn't you watch????
Is the battery bad and not recommended for the S23 Ultra?
It’s definitely not bad at all I’m just a heavy user especially of videoing with the camera and maxing out screen brightness.
@@MattRobb thank you
Nicee
Videography sound on Samsung is way better at 11:28
"This picture was just a big white blob." Was I watching a different picture? The samsung adds some texture to where it thinks it needs it due to AI. I doesn't add 'details' that are not there but rather enhances details that are. For example, it would not add a crater that wasn't in the photo (if you remove it) but if there is a blurry crater, it would try to add a bit of detail to it. Samsung clarified this many times since the beginning. Get some better talking points.
My friend was saying the crater just looked like a blob not the whole moon. But yeah you’re right it did just add detail however the detail wasn’t there before hand.
@@MattRobb All flagship phones do this to some extent, it's just that we don't notice it. The moon stands out in particular because the AI knows exactly what the moon generally look like and is able to add in some more detail than usual; this behaviour is not present if you turn off 'scene optimiser.'
BTW I realised my first comment came off a bit rude. Apologies for that if it seem thay because you didn't give off any bad vibes but it was meant to bee in a way which highlighted a slight bit of annoyance from me, if that makes sense😁
from all I see from these reviews this phone is great, but im unable to experience this as ups has lost it
Oh shoot that sucks man, hope you get it resolved with them
You can turn down sharpening in the S23 Ultra with the new Camera Assistant app Samsung just released.
That’s awesome, I’ll have to give it a shot. Thanks for letting me know!
Nice DIL!
For 1. you can off optimalizator of scene in settings for more natural photos and no this vibrant. 2. Don't use 200mpx in worsened light terms, it's logical will worse than on Apple with 48mpx and use 50mpx on Samsung, read anything about pixel binning and why phones it have. Btw Samsung has better stabilization but is true Apple video is better. 🙂
If I wrote anything bad, so sorry, English isn't my native language.😅
Ps. Samsung using AI on Moon pictures, but so what? At least beautiful, so it doesn't matter how he does it🤷♂️ still better than show we have 100x zoom but even the moon is just a blurry, this is better way.
Does the S23 ultra fit in pockets easy?
It fits in my skinny jeans but it’s pretty tight honestly and when I’m wearing gym wear it swings around in my joggers a lot I prefer to just hold it
@@MattRobb so for every day use it may be kinda too big for some people's pockets
@@MattRobb it's the size that kinda puts me off atm
Definitely for some, this phone naked is bigger than my iPhone 14 pro max with a bulky case on. So with a case on it’s definitely pretty huge but it’s great for consuming content and playing games. I’d definitely go have a play around with one first before buying it. I’m pretty big I’m 6 foot 1 and have fairly large hands and I’m getting a little bit tired of larger devices but I feel they always offer the best specs compared to smaller phones. I was super tempted to get the s23 as I mentioned in this video and still am interested in getting one.
@Andrew Hammett, you should just get the plus... that's if you dont need everything this offers like the Spen and all that zoomcapabilities. The battery life and cameras on the plus is pretty great blv me. If u need what the s23 ultra offers there is no way you'll not have that massive size of a phone cos it needs to hold the Spen and the battery that will serve the purpose.
lol Wingstop 😂 they are everywhere on East Coast USA
iPhone 15 pro max or s23 ultra
Wait for the s24 Ultra. In short never ending cycle. Maybe 15 Pro Max as it is newer compared to the S23 Ultra.

🖤
S23 ultra is just the better
Disappointed to see how Samsung's 200MP lost to Apple's 48MP in details.
I was pretty surprised but the top of the tower was pretty far away. It might carry more detail on closer up shots
Meh 😂
I doubt it lost. It’s only one shot. Try another dozen and you will see how good it is. Plus I really don’t trust these compared photos.
Ultra is so good we now want poor photography, killing the game. Deal with it. That moon shot was sick. Everything is enhanced by ai but cause apple hasn't found a way we don't like it. Every 2 years apple changes their photography profile, we like whatever they do. There's got to be a better way lol.
The Only thing i like on the s23 ultra is the design....
It is pretty sexy ngl especially in the green color
Watch from pakistan 🇵🇰 dude
Naqash my friend in this video is also from Pakistan dude 🇵🇰
@MattRobb in pakistan 🇵🇰 which city your belongs from

"Seems like the iPhone doesn't do any post processing " 🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢
No I meant the photo in the viewfinder looks identical to the final result where as on other phones it looks drastically different
11:50 Ai enhancement at it finest 👌
The Stratus C5 is a way better phone.

There’s a Wingstop in London? That’s lit lol 😊
I’m actually in Edinburgh the capital of Scotland but yeah London has them too
iPhone Is The King❤
All the phones does ai retouch.
Dude you are just an apple fan boy... Sometimes truth is very hard for you to say
As someone who has been using Android for almost a decade, I have a lot of experience with various Samsung devices, including the S23 Ultra. While it may not be perfect, I still think it's a great phone overall. While the video quality wasn't up to my expectations, I still appreciate the effort Samsung put into developing this device. As a professional photographer and videographer, I appreciate a good smartphone camera when I see one, but I also prefer a more natural look to my images. That being said, it's all about personal preference, and different people will have different opinions on what makes a good photo. Ultimately, I think both the S23 Ultra and the iPhone are fantastic devices with great quality, and I don't think anyone should take it personally if someone else prefers one over the other.
For me even with battery saving settings charging 3-4 times a day is so inconvenient. Camera is amazing though. But flagships batteries don't last at all. Still missing features from ios and probably gonna notice more with time. Every thing else is amazing.
Literally impossible to charge an s23ultra 3-4 times a day. I charged last time 24h ago, playes 2 hours of genshin impact at max settings and wqhd, watched 6 hours of youtube at highest settings, multiview for half of the time between reddit and whatsapp and after a full 24h (i slept 7 hours) i'm at 10%. GPS, sync (turned off only during genshin impact, so, for only 2 hours), always galaxy buds on, wifi, no saving battery until 20%. You must be doing something absolutely massively wrong to be in that status. Or most probably you have a faulty unit
Hah😂.battery is much improved brother even gaming, browsing watch porn still has lot percentage. Now too much replicas.wake up from dream. If will be nuclear battery in device you will be happy. And apple lost few years there are bigger wolf like oppo pixel vivo etc. Even Motorola its better than iphone
Problem is, the is the second recharge of the day and it's already 70% and I am just past half way through the day. Common stop exaggerating how good the battery life of the phone. It's good compared to its past generation and may be other flagships that's it. The only smart phone that's lasts me the whole day is the m62 which has a 7000 mah battery the problem with that is its very bad on other sides.
@Renato Oliva 2 hours of genishin and 6 hours of RUclips?! Come on you're exaggerating.
@Erik Talli I don't either own apple nor any other phone company. I didn't compare iPhone with any other phones. I am stating what I am experiencing with my SAMSUNG 23 ULTRA i switched 2 years ago just because of the shity company that is apple, I use the phone currently for RUclips, reading and as Hotspot, these days I do heavy gaming but not gonna do it in long terms I don't like mobile games. Also "watching porn" is not a heavy task for a phone that would deplete it's battery I don't waste my time on stuff like this. THE PHONE DOESNT LAST FOR A DAY that's what happening to me. Unless I got the short end of the stick from Samsung and they used a smaller battery for me which I hope is unlikely.
I phone mic is garbage 😂
So happy with the s23u, its a shame that samsung adds fake details for the moon but atleast its does not look like i am talking a picture of a bulb 😅
Yeah I’d rather have a half fake moon that no moon at all 💯
yea half fake seems better coz its just ai doing its job unlike other company to paste a picture of a moon
They literally explained how they manage to do that. Almost, wait, delete almost, every single pic you take with your smartphones are "cgi" (Better say AI) enhanced. Iphone too. They woukdnt be that good without a quintilion of post processing refinement. This trend of "shaming" samsung for this niche stuff is getting dumber and dumber by the day
@@nightwarrior1980 yeah it has been going on for a decade. It’s getting disgusting now. I use iPhone atm but this is so low.
@@jamescameron4444 it's always to try and bring samsung down, if they did that with at least their hardware. Cameras from sony, screen from samsung. The interface isnt even their to begin with. Only pros goes to chipset but all that does is AI enhancing. Smh
Is that black your husband? Because looks like you guys doings things in the bedroom
I'm dead 😂
💀
Samsung is much better then Apple
Tell me kiddo who told you to review phones clearly you need to learn a lot still
I’ve been using Samsung phones the past 9 years as my daily driver pretty much and I’m a professional photographer. What do I need to learn? 🤔
iPhone is no camera phone.Did away with my 14 pro max waiting for my s23 ultra.Such a shame cheap Chinese phones outdo it by far
I have kids and i bought the 23 ultra because i wanted a phone with the best camera so i can take the best photos of them, To my surprise it sucks, The 23 ultra cant handle moving objects AT ALL. Everything gets blurry with the slightest movements, My old pixel 5 takes way better photos. Another thing is that the ultra is smoothering the kids faces so it looks like a damn filter on them, why would i want that ?? Yes all pictures of still objects comes out pretty good but life isnt always still.. Nope this one is going back and in bying the best camera phone, The pixel 7 pro
Interesting I’m thinking of doing another Day in the life with the pixel 7 pro
The phone is Gorgeous 🥹😍🔥 I can't lie anymore 🙌🏻😌
Gotta love that iPhone some how looked the best but I'm not a iPhone user🫢
Despite saying in the video the iPhone front camera looked a little better once I pulled it up on my computer the S23 ultra front camera was nicer quality overall. Both have their pros and cons I guess. I wish the Samsung would stop over shadowing video though
@@MattRobb 👏👏👏👏👏 lmao
