Rob - I dig the way you define your role as a DJ/mentor. You contribute to the culture by teaching as many others as you can the foundations/history/techniques. What you said is true - you can't control how your colleagues behave, and you can't control technology/the markets. But you can control your response; in fact, you're compelled to respond, by passing it on. This art of the DJ will continue not because of popularity or commerce, but because of passion (cue discussion on any number of examples of passion-driven music culture - blues, jazz, classical, hardcore, goth, industrial, and on and on...).
Great channel! Brings back some great memories! Thanks for making this channel. I find that I have a harder time with all the buttons. The process or flow, is much better, using your methods. Then, I just listen to the music and not have to think about buttons. I love that you are meticulous about explaining the methods and history. Finally, thanks for sharing your tips and tricks!
Technology the gift and the curse by teaching them traditional djing they appreciate the technology more when they use it salute to you sensei Rob Swift each one teach one keep this shit alive
DJ Rob Swift once again you always put your knowledge and passion in teaching your students the skills of how to manipulate vinyl. Great video Brother Swift! May God continue to give you life so you can continue to inspire and teach more people on the true art of mixing. Whether with or without a computer and software. Be safe be well DJ Rob Swift!
Man I wish they had classes like this when I was growing but then there wasn't dj software back then. But I appreciate being to learn the dj software from your channel. 👊
I got left behind with the serato digital age, mostly because I never had the money, that simple.....but I wasn't gonna sell my beautiful record collection. So now when I throw house party's it all wax, and thanx to rob he inspired me to get back on em, not just for me, but for the culture and my culture. Peace God.
This is how I know you appreciate your fans rob. Your a busy man but I noticed you reply back to comments when you can. Been a fan of yours for a long time dmc days and x-men cassettes. Amazing how far HipHop has reached.
@@bigunclegskunkxxl9173 Honestly, I don't see y'all as "fans". Y'all are my support system and i'd be crazy not to show love to the people that make it possible for me to do what I love. Respect.
Another excellent vid Rob, it's very important to show both analog and digital DJIng, for those to at least get a better understanding and, they can have the option to choose. Honor to you as always.
I wish Serato automatically changed the length of the signal tone in absolute mode (or did something!) so that the full control vinyl was the full track. I'd love to use absolute mode, but it's just way too counter-intuitive to place the needle at the right part of the track. You can move it a little bit in on the record and it's, like, 3 minutes into the track.
Rob Im an old school Roots Reggae dj that has a collection of 30 years i want to share, and im very non computer techy All i want to do is a 2 hour show every couple weeks without stopping or editing Can you explain the unit i need to convert from two techniques tables and an old school analogue mixer over to digital to do a youtube show and how do you synch a video with it ?Do you have a show that explains this? Thank you!!Chad PS- i really want to achieve good sound quality!!
This may not be the place for this question and I don't want to set off a grand debate just really want Rob's opinion... nevermind cost rane 62 vs S9... which is gives the most bang for your buck?
love seeing your passion for this but more pleasing is the delight in discovery and enthusiasm of the students.
