ny_jah #2329 there are some tutorials out there now. It’s actually pretty easy once you find the controls. You first have to go into preferences and make sure your device is controlling MPC beats. This was the problem I was having with it. I assumed it automatically did this. The mapping controls are in the program and you have to make sure they are active, then you map the actual knobs to the controls you want. It works like Ableton where you click on the control in the GUI (Once you’re in the mapping section) that you want to map and then use the hardware control. I’m not in front of the software so I know I’m not clear about how you get into the preferences and the mapping controls.
Thanks for this info! The problem I'm having is I can't get the transport controls on the Launchkey 37 mk3 to control the software transport, and ideas? Thank you in advance.@@umanoid1523

@@EndaRochford I still have issues... My boyfriend gave me the mpk mini play as a birthday present and I don't like the mpk software much. I was saving for an Arturia, have you tried their software?
Not that this comment will ever be read by Akai / InMusic but.... the plugin is still buggy as hell, and so is MPC2. Version 2.13.0 of MPC Beats, Version 2.14.0 of MPC2 (current as of May 15th, 2024)... when going into Controller Mode, Pad 1 (bottom left) is set to "Button Edit" in the plugin, instead of "Pad Edit"... major issue, as you can't set it a MIDI note, so it does not transmit one. Keeps popping up randomly, on both plugins. Additionally, with MPC Beats, when using as a plugin inside any DAW (I tested 6 different DAWs), randomly, Track 1 will "bleed" onto other tracks, even if the MIDI channels are set correctly... but, only when playing from an Akai controller (in this case, MPC Studio Black). Frustrating as hell. You have to ignore Track 1, so you only get 7 tracks multi-timbrally, and not 8, like you're supposed to. Fix your code, Akai. PLEASE. Address this. Or, just ignore it like you usually do.
Hi ..how do I do the same for a keylab mkii? it is not among the list for Arturia products and when connected on MPC beats obnly the lower octave sounds but few keys, the rest does not sound neither the Knobs or faders are recognized.
I guess it's only mapped to a limited number of models - mine wasn't recognized and then didn't show up on the list. As a result the 8 pots are useless and the 16 pads are mapped apparently at random. No wonder is free software.
Why my MPK mini mk2 arpeggiator button doesn't work on MPC BEATS ? have I to use the MPC Beats software arpeggiator ? my MPK mini mk2 arpeggiator button works on other softwares so the problem don't come from my MPK mini...
hey I was trying to map a Ableton push to the mic beats. is their a template that works I got the pads to work but id like to map the transport and stuff like that.
All my mappings have been reset of the recent update. I have to manually edit my mapping EVERY SINGLE TIME when I start up mpc beats. How do I get my mappings to save so I dont have to keep editing them on startup?
I have had some success through MENU/EDIT/PROGRAM/NOTE MAPPING. But when you change the set or kit or anything else the mapping changes and no longer works. You have to do it all again. This is normal for Midi but it sucks that they are pretending it's automatic.
My apologies, I never want to discourage or downplay someone’s work and attempt, but the fact that it went straight to “press next” from within the MPC software is not the best explanation or UX. If it were that simple I wouldn’t need to look up a video. I already have the software and I plugged in my midi, this is not at all how it starts. Again, I know how difficult and time consuming these videos are and you have phenomenal quality, my apologies.
I have the MPD218, and you'd think that they would, be default, map each pad to correlate with the pad on the screen. Nah, we don't do that here. It doesn't seem to want to allow me to remap them to the correct spot either. Not really sold on this at the moment. Hitting Pad 8 switches to bank D. Hitting pad 1 activates pad 2 in MPC beats. wth yall?
Thanks to @Rens_Beats, I've learned you have to hold PROG SELECT and tap PAD 5 for the MPD 218 to match up with the MPC Beats software (for anyone else who ends up needing to know.) My only question is why. why would this not be default?
I can't get the keyboard on the MPK MINI MK3 to work with MPC beats. The pads work, but even then when I record and press play, nothing records. Any help would be massively appreciated.
And I'm with several others here who are disappointed that instead of a video on how to set up my midi controller (e.g., how do I fix the nonsensical MPC Beats pad mappings,... etc.) you immediately get sidetracked into how to make beats. Please make a video titled MPC Beats | Setting up a Midi Controller that is actually about setting up midi controllers.

@@konsnowo5748 You have to use the midi learn feature and assign each pad. I finally got a hold of tech support from Akai. They are aware of this issue. It's a programming issue when they built the software.
Can anyone tell me why in preferences, my pad sensitivity and pad threshold is greyed out? I have the Mini Plus and these pads aren’t as responsive as I’d like.
even though it was free, i'm starting to deeply hate this programme. i've wasted a whole day on it, and got nowhere. nothing about it is intuitive or clear. i have already set my lpd8 so that it plays specific notes, and so dials are set to specific controls for vst on other software. so when i hit a pad, it plays a note on the keyboard at the bottom of the screen, but doesn't coincide with any of the pads on the screen. which you don't seem to be able to change the note associated with. if there is a way to do it, it's been made a secret. midi learn doesn't even do a single thing. if i don't make some progress soon, i'm going back to reaper, which i already know inside out.
Right off the bat, this video is incorrect and/or obsolete. It says the first thing to do is plug in the midi controller. but that clearly can't be the first thing you did, because the computer screen shows that you had opened MPC Beats. In this video and others, you assume that MPC Beats first opens with a popup to select a midi map and then make other selections such as simple or advanced UI, etc. I just installed MPC Beats on 1/30/24, and I can tell you that this popup does not appear on first boot of MPC Beats. Nowhere do you you explain how to get to this popup dialog box if it doesn't automatically appear. In other videos you claim that MPC Beats automatically detects which controller you're using, but does it? Does it really? How could I be sure? You give no hint on how to check which controller is setup in MPC Beats.
I cannot find any way to make my own controller (a Korg padKontrol) work. Some pads are lighting up in the UI but not all (scale function?). Why not a simple learn functionality.. I click on a screen pad, hit the physical pad and they are auto-magically bonded. Seems simpler than forcing me to buy an inMusic product (not going to happen!) that has the right XML file pre-loaded... or at least provide the tool to create controller maps.
Don't bother buying any other inMusic hardware for that reason... mine is Akai (not MPC though) and while I managed to map my pads (after a good deal of pain), MPC Beats just won't let me set up its multicolor LEDs to match the UI colors.
You probably worked this out by now ;) 1. Open Preferences and select Midi/Sync In the Input Ports section click to enable the CONTROL button for each of the padKONTROL's input ports 2. In the GLOBAL settings window, click LEARN and select Pads from the View selector Here you can select Pad 1 - 16 one at a time and hit the desired pad on the padKONTROL

"bruh", the whole video is about how to use a midi controller that has already been automatically mapped, and by coincidence happens to have the pads set up to play the notes that the programme is expecting. if you look at the comments, you'll see that for a lot of people, this isn't the case.
Yeah, I had the same question - looks like this tutorial is out of date if you have a MPK Mini Mk3 with the 2.10 release of MPC Beats - no MIDI set up options as shown, so it not clear how to get to the rest of it.

I have a launchkey mk3 and there’s no preset. The pads work fine but I can’t get the encoders or transport mapped. I tried going into mapping but it doesn’t seem to register the hardware when I click on the appropriate section and use my controller. I’m sure I’m just doing something wrong.
im having the same issue. pads map well but encoders have no function. i was hoping to run a less powerful daw on my struggling pc instead of ableton live lite. MPC beats was almost there but not being able to use the encoders feels like im missing out. if be willing to custom map them myself if anyone knew how.
ny_jah #2329 there are some tutorials out there now.
I'm having a little issue with the MPD218, I set up all the settings but it doesn't seem to work. When I press the pads it doesn't make any sounds, but when I press the pad on screen it does make sound. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks 🙏 for this info but I still find it difficult to use my new Akai mpk 3 keyboard 🎹 with my pc
Please what can I do ? 🙏
Is it possible to use multiple midi devices connected at the same time?
How do you get the advanced and simple along with the controller selecting pop up. When I open mpc beats it goes straight to the project menu

Hello all, I am trying to map my midi controller so I can utilize the pads on garage band. Any suggestions?
You have to set the pad program to garageband by pressing prog change then keep prog select held down, then select pad 5
So, this is supposed to be a video about setting up a midi controller and Akai chooses to use a M-Audio board instead of its own.
MPC Beats is a free music production offering that works with all class-compliant MIDI controllers, hence, featuring different products.
All my mappings have been reset of the recent update. I have to manually edit my mapping EVERY SINGLE TIME when I start up mpc beats. How do I get my mappings to save so I dont have to keep editing them on startup?
Please visit akaipro.com/support
How do manually assign pads the software doesn't match my mpkmini pads at all.
I have had some success through MENU/EDIT/PROGRAM/NOTE MAPPING. But when you change the set or kit or anything else the mapping changes and no longer works. You have to do it all again. This is normal for Midi but it sucks that they are pretending it's automatic.
Also note! the MPK mini edit software has different Midi notes to the MPCbeats software. It's very confusing.
Will this program eventually support older Akai models? I have an MPD32.
did you find it out?i want to buy mpd32 and work with mcbeats.thank you
I don't get that screen that detects my USB controller - how do you get that?
I have the MPD218, and you'd think that they would, be default, map each pad to correlate with the pad on the screen. Nah, we don't do that here. It doesn't seem to want to allow me to remap them to the correct spot either. Not really sold on this at the moment. Hitting Pad 8 switches to bank D. Hitting pad 1 activates pad 2 in MPC beats. wth yall?
Thanks to @Rens_Beats, I've learned you have to hold PROG SELECT and tap PAD 5 for the MPD 218 to match up with the MPC Beats software (for anyone else who ends up needing to know.) My only question is why. why would this not be default?
ok, so what if i don't have one of the keyboards listed? I'm lost.
my pads on my maudio oxygen pro mini don't line up with the mpc beats software pads. How can I fix this?
I can't get the keyboard on the MPK MINI MK3 to work with MPC beats. The pads work, but even then when I record and press play, nothing records. Any help would be massively appreciated.
Make sure your MPK mini is set as an active MIDI input in the preferences menu. Visit akaipro.com/support for assistance.

Hello DJ Marcus,
I am struggling with the same problem. The customer support and online Forums cant help out. Could you solve this?
@@konsnowo5748 You have to use the midi learn feature and assign each pad. I finally got a hold of tech support from Akai. They are aware of this issue. It's a programming issue when they built the software.
Can anyone tell me why in preferences, my pad sensitivity and pad threshold is greyed out? I have the Mini Plus and these pads aren’t as responsive as I’d like.
mpc beats doesn't recognise my mpc studio black which was working before with the full version of mpc software.
Dear,
where can i gat a real Sound from trompete, saxophon, several string and drum instrument f about my project
even though it was free, i'm starting to deeply hate this programme. i've wasted a whole day on it, and got nowhere. nothing about it is intuitive or clear. i have already set my lpd8 so that it plays specific notes, and so dials are set to specific controls for vst on other software. so when i hit a pad, it plays a note on the keyboard at the bottom of the screen, but doesn't coincide with any of the pads on the screen. which you don't seem to be able to change the note associated with. if there is a way to do it, it's been made a secret. midi learn doesn't even do a single thing.
if i don't make some progress soon, i'm going back to reaper, which i already know inside out.
But how do i map IT
Right off the bat, this video is incorrect and/or obsolete. You give no hint on how to check which controller is setup in MPC Beats.
me after watching this video...
okaaaayyyy keep your secrets

Can i use both my mpd218 and my apc key25 at the same time in mpc beats?
Yes, this is possible although the pad grid of APC Key 25 will not work with MPC Beats, only the 25 keys.
HOW DO YOU GO BCK AND CHANGE YOUR MAPPING???????????
This would help if I had this expensive keyboard
How can I map the Lpk25 to mpc beats?????
I cannot find any way to make my own controller (a Korg padKontrol) work.
Some pads are lighting up in the UI but not all (scale function?).
Why not a simple learn functionality.. I click on a screen pad, hit the physical pad and they are auto-magically bonded.
Seems simpler than forcing me to buy an inMusic product (not going to happen!) that has the right XML file pre-loaded... or at least provide the tool to create controller maps.
Don't bother buying any other inMusic hardware for that reason... mine is Akai (not MPC though) and while I managed to map my pads (after a good deal of pain), MPC Beats just won't let me set up its multicolor LEDs to match the UI colors.
they have the midi learning feature but its greyed out for me... its in the bottelm right corner
You probably worked this out by now ;)
1. Open Preferences and select Midi/Sync
In the Input Ports section click to enable the CONTROL button for each of the padKONTROL's input ports
2. In the GLOBAL settings window, click LEARN and select Pads from the View selector
Here you can select Pad 1 - 16 one at a time and hit the desired pad on the padKONTROL

Hi, does anyone know how to map pads from my MIDI to MPC beats pads? I’m having trouble with this issue. Thanks
bruh the whole video is about that
@@ZmatiK its not...
Yea it’s not
"bruh", the whole video is about how to use a midi controller that has already been automatically mapped, and by coincidence happens to have the pads set up to play the notes that the programme is expecting. if you look at the comments, you'll see that for a lot of people, this isn't the case.
That screen never just comes up .how do I reach the page that allows me to connect the midi
In the top left corner click on the 3 horizontal bars for the drop menu, then scroll down to help, then Open Startup Wizard.
thats cool and all but how do you get there
Yeah, I had the same question - looks like this tutorial is out of date if you have a MPK Mini Mk3 with the 2.10 release of MPC Beats - no MIDI set up options as shown, so it not clear how to get to the rest of it.
I can't remap my Akai LPD8 with Akai MPC Beats. What a shame..
So... what with all the others controllers?!?!?!?! i have a MicroKontrol... I Think it's much more helpfull a tutorial to how-to setup a new controller... i know how to plugin a supported controller.. why this video?!?!??!
I have a MPK mini mk2 and Beats did automatically recognize the device. Then none of the buttons are assigned, and the pads are not mapped correctly at all. Was very disappointed, I went on to RUclips and watched a child tell me how to setup the controller in FL studio in 10ms
Mine does the same thing . No knob response either
@@jimharvey205 mate, I solved it! For me anyway but I hope it helps you. I found that you need to go to Midi Learn button at the bottom right, you can quickly map everything manually.
