Love my Motiv Power bleeder. First time I bled my brakes on my evo, I made the mistake of unscrewing the bleeder valve too much. This caused the brake fluid to seep from under the bleed valve all over the paint... This ruined the paint on my brembos. I guess the moral of the story is you just need to loosen the bleeder valve enough for the fluid to start coming out of the top of the valve. This may be common knowledge, but my lack of knowledge screwed me.
I understand pulling the strainer out of the reservoir so you can get most of the fluid out of it. My question is when you are refilling it with the pressure bleeder would it be better to put the strainer back in before the process of starting of refilling and bleeding or because you are adding from newly open containers the chance of contamination is unlikely.
Clear process thanks. I was wondering if you siphoned all the fluid from the reservoir using the Motive catch bottle? Because in other videos they emphasized not to go below the “Min” mark to avoid inducing air into the system.
We're about to twins Tommy, except mine is pdk 😀 getting it delivered this weekend from Cali Woo-hoo 🙌 I'll be following your diy's, I think first on the list is the X73 or coilovers.
Great guide but just one question, you removed the fluid out of the res so it was close to empty, then you fitted the pressure bottle that you had filled with fluid and pumped up to 15psi, does that fill the empty res and empty line from you bleeder bottle before you bleed as you would just be pushing air into the system? I’ve got one but never used it so don’t wanna mess it up
Why did I not know the Motive bottle trick ? My turkey baster is officially retired. I used it bleed my 997.1 clutch slave, and it sucked! Have you considered using Castrol SRF and doing fewer flushes?
Super helpful Tommy! Also a great ad for the Motive Power bleeder. I want to order one. Is the Motive adaptor you used the 1100 or 1109? It looks like it fits great with no leaks.
Sorry man - but this is not how it works - you need porsche piwis to do it in a propper way - you need to move all the break systems valves - this is only possible with a piwis .
I agree. If you want to bleed the abs pump. That said keeping the lines fresh is more important especially for track days where the heat is. Especially on my 718. Those rear lines are lightning hot.
This method isn’t complete unless you also pump the brakes with each caliper bleed. Air WILL remain in the system if you don’t. also you forgot about using a Foxwell NT 530 to set the ABS in the correct position while doing this job.
@@TommyLGarage Well sure, but if you want to be thorough and follow Porsche's recommendations...I had trouble when I ran dry by mistake, your method doesn't cut it unless everything was perfect already before you started.

Good point! slowly unscrew it

Thanks Tommy your videoes have taught me to change pads and now bleed fluid
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to record and post your efforts.
So nice of you
This was super helpful, really appreciate the informative instruction.
Glad it was helpful!
always enjoy your video, well done!
Thank you!!

Yes you suck out as much as you can. Then when you fill with the bleeder the fluid will be pushed into the reservoir. Won’t have any bubbles

Congrats!!!! it's an amazing car
Great video! Did you end up bleeding the clutch fluid as well since its the same as the brakes?
NOpe; I could not reach there. I don't see any need for it though
@@TommyLGarage good to know! I was thinking of doing it for my F82 but only if it was easily accessible when i flush the brakes this year

Yes the reservoir will fill itself once you start pumping
Keep up the great work man!
Thanks!

Castrol SRF is too expensive; I flush before every track weekend
Agreed! That Motive bottle trick is gold! (ordering a Motive kit from Amazon so I don't need an assistant to pump the pedal)
Will you be going to Mpact this year? I remember what happened last year haha.
YES! that's the plan

Thank! It’s the 100. I linked it in the description for you.
@@TommyLGarage Thanks!
can you use those catch bottles to remove extra engine oil?
I guess you could!
Great video as always. Next video a DIY PDK fluids? LOL
I need a PDK conversion :)
@@TommyLGarage you are right, when I posted I forgot you have the 6 speed
Great video Tommy
Thanks!
I believe it's inside half first then outside.
Doesn't really matter
my fluid is green and fails the tester
Time to replace it!
you should bleed the clutch, it get the most dirty
True

Nope. Only if you want to bleed the abs pump. Otherwise it’s good.

Does not work for 2016 cayenne..
What do you mean?
First like is mine ;-)
Spasiba!!!!!

I did this a few times before the track day - zero issues.
