Went to sleep after trying to fix it for hours but woke up, did the first step (home button 5 times, up once, back twice and forward twice) and it worked!! Thank you!
I felt the same way, I was about to throw mine out in the middle of the yard. Just had it 2 years and there was no telling when the boss would have let me buy a replacement.
Thank you so much!! I just came home and turned on the TV to a red and black screen. Searched the internet, and then RUclips for a solution and your video popped up 1st. You're a life saver👍. Don't have the money right now to buy a new TV.
I figured out (with my tv, not sure if this works on all the tvs but give it a try for your tv) turn on a video, any video or live tv will work, hit the settings button * > picture settings > customize picture mode > fine tune picture > and turn your backlight to 25%... I've tested this for over a month and haven't had my screen turn black since. I watched a few electricians talk about his problem and all of them have said its a lack of power to the back-lit LEDS. I tried this and it worked like a charm. Hopefully it helps with all the the other ONN roku smart tvs out there, good luck! 😁

Thank you! It worked. I used the first method but here’s a little tip: My tv was still blank after I did the steps so just manually turn off the tv with the button on the side & then turn it back on. Once you do that the brand of the tv will appear once cut back on. In my case it’s Hisense TV. Hope this helps someone out. I subscribed because it worked for me. When in doubt RUclips it out! 🤣🤣
Commenting for future ppl! Thank goodness I don’t need to buy a new TV. The bottom HALF of my tv was black! I have a 50” ONN Roku TV that is 2 years old. I was playing my PS5 when it crashed on me. I tried all the tricks all night. Nothing. Woke up the next day and still had the issue. What I did to actually make this method work for me: 1) Unplug all HDMI devices from the TV 2) Turn brightness to Darker (the last option. I saw that ppl say to do normal but that didn’t work so I tried the lowest setting) 3) Do the remote reset 4) un plug and replug in the tv again. 5) repeat (I did this 3 times before my tv fixed itself) Thank you guys!!
I guess this must be a common problem with Roku tvs. I got one last week and it did this today. Movie mode worked, but other picture modes were extremely dark. I went to settings and did a factory reset and it seemed to fix it, so hopefully it's just a glitch in the software. It does make me feel uneasy though since I just got it.
*The second option actually worked. My screen goes dark only when I go to the PS5 screen and the unplugging it, waiting for 30 seconds, plug it back in and turning it on fixed it. Thank you.*

Thanks for sharing this! My issue was fixed by doing the first solution. My menu screens were working and audio too, but starting any video (any app) would be a black screen. Remote button press sequence fixed it -- glad I didn't need to hard reset, which is what Roku Support page suggested (and not this??).

Thanks for posting. First solution worked for my Hisense tv. Lost my background only, so it was black, but had total functionality. This hack reset my tv and I was able to reset my background and screen saver. Much appreciated!
Thanks for this!👍 I've had my TCL Roku TV for almost 2 years (maybe 3) and this is the first time I had a problem. Strangely, what fixed mine was casting your video to my TV. LOL! For some reason I decided to see if casting from my phone would force it to work since, as you mentioned, I could see the volume number go up/down and hear the sound when pressing my remote buttons. Anyway, I may not be so lucky next time so thank you very much! I have something important to watch tomorrow so I've written down your instructions for future reference. Have a great week! 🙂
ok I found a fix for mine after trying the reset and unplugging I changed the picture settings to low power and no more flickering this fix has lasted for days now, still time to get a new one
Thanks again man! I had this problem a year ago and used your video to fix the problem and just had this issue happen again. Again your video saved the day. Thank you!

Thanks for the video! I had some success with unplugging power in the past. The picture would always come back, but it might be immediately or 20 minutes after turning my TLC tv. Your remote trick worked right away! This might be a reliable way to get the picture back the next time it happens.

@@ygbodybuilder3023 no, I tried everything. even through this was posted 2 years ago you're a literary a life saver!!! it worked after many attempts of messing around with stuff and I decided to watch RUclips and this worked thank you!!
Man, I’m jealous of all the people this worked for. Oh well
Same here. No luck. Oh well, new TV it is
Sadly, non of these helped
same... same symptoms but not the same cure
Same here
Same
Anyone having the issue but only when playing the Xbox? I've tryed swapping my hdmi n still does it
Try hitting the star button on the remote. Change the brightness level to normal instead of bright, then hit the star button again. ...
I've figured out (with my tv, not sure if this works on all the tvs but give it a try for your tv) turn on a video, any video or live tv will work, hit the settings button * > picture settings > customize picture mode > fine tune picture > and turn your backlight to 25%... 😁
Thanks for posting. First solution worked for my Hisense tv. Lost my background only, so it was black, but had total functionality. This hack reset my tv and I was able to reset my background and screen saver. Much appreciated!
This helped a lot I was so lost do you know why this happenes
Thanks for this!👍 I've had my TCL Roku TV for almost 2 years (maybe 3) and this is the first time I had a problem.
Strangely, what fixed mine was casting your video to my TV. LOL! For some reason I decided to see if casting from my phone would force it to work since, as you mentioned, I could see the volume number go up/down and hear the sound when pressing my remote buttons. Anyway, I may not be so lucky next time so thank you very much! I have something important to watch tomorrow so I've written down your instructions for future reference. Have a great week! 🙂
For some reason when I tried to cast to the TV..it started working also. Thanks
ok I found a fix for mine after trying the reset and unplugging I changed the picture settings to low power and no more flickering this fix has lasted for days now, still time to get a new one
Ive come to this same tutorial again because i forgot the combination and it really helped, thanks!
Perfect hack to fix the tv, had it 4 years with no issues, I would have never figured this out on my own, brilliant!!!
Thank you so much I was scared and confused when it happened
Thank you so much bro... I swear I thought I was going to have to buy a new tv... I love u lol... Oh and it was the 1st one that worked
GTFOH LMAOOO this ish REALLY WORK!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yes it does just had to do it again it wirks every time
Me to man, that's Bullshit! When you purchase an expensive it, you shouldn't have to use a fuckin cheat code to be able to use it????
Thanks again man! I had this problem a year ago and used your video to fix the problem and just had this issue happen again. Again your video saved the day. Thank you!
Omg! My screen wasn't black it was red. I followed the first steps and it worked perfectly. Thanks so much.
Woke up tv was weird dark spots etc . Did the usual search etc found how to take it all apart replace led lights . I can buy another one for 300 plus some change . As a former equipment mechanic etc i call that going deep . Like my engine won’t run some guys take it out right away . I always would say did you check your ground cable . This did work thank you sir
Your a life saver man. This has happened to me twice now but the first time it fixed itself on its own, My issue was that my screen was on and I could see color but it was just super dark and no matter what mode I put it to it wouldn't change but thank you for this!
How did you fix it
@@SheLuvvJakai if you had the same problem too the first one will probably work, it’s what I did and it fixed
I got the same issue with a super dark screen but it didn’t work for me
Have you foxed it? I have same problem i have roku stick

Thanks a million!! I have a 65” TCL and hadn’t watched it in almost a week and this fixed it in less than 5 minutes. The first step worked 💖
YAY! This worked for me! The first step, clicking home button 5 times, volume up 1x then rewind 2 x and forward 2x! Thank you!
Wow your a genius it worked for me, my screen was dark and I couldn't see anything and when i followed the directions in the video mu tv got back to normal. Thank you !!
Bro was your tv dark and some lights
You beautiful human!!!! You don't even know how much you just helped me, give this man the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!!! Thank you!
This still works, I have a TCL Roku TV 4K 65inch (if that means anything to anyone) but this trick worked. 🙏 🙏 hopefully this isn’t a common issue cause I’ve only owned this tv for 2 weeks
Omg dude thanks so much it help me so much I was literally calling my cable service and everything you saved my life.
WOW ‼️‼️‼️‼️ THANK YOU THAT WAS VERY HELPFUL FOR ME YOU’RE THE REAL DEAL
Make sure you tv isn’t connected to any internet. Unplug for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and it should work. Thanks for the video! 👍🏾
Thanks for the video! I had some success with unplugging power in the past. The picture would always come back, but it might be immediately or 20 minutes after turning my TLC tv. Your remote trick worked right away! This might be a reliable way to get the picture back the next time it happens.
I figured out (with my tv, not sure if this works on all the tvs but give it a try for your tv) turn on a video, any video or live tv will work, hit the settings button * > picture settings > customize picture mode > fine tune picture > and turn your backlight to 25%... First one worked - the combination of buttons. Thank you!

My TCL has black screen of death i had it 3 years it sucks so gonna get a different brand maybe onn or Hisense

The first one works
Neither one worked. And I can feel myself forgetting how to exist, Metaphorically. 2:10
Same
Hey this didn't work for me anybody got any other idea's?
Yes mine too. You get it fixed
I'm thinking smash it with a hammer, that's where I'm at at this point
Did you find something too work
@@ygbodybuilder3023 no, I tried everything. Used the remote code reset method over and over.. one out of like 10 times it looked like it was going to work, showed the TCL screen for a few seconds and went black again. I unplugged it several times, held down the power button, pressed the reset button on the back, nothing worked. I really think they did this on purpose. The tv has nothing wrong with it except it literally refuses to work.
Blankness of Face I’m in the same boat as you I’ve tried just about everything I even tried the little rest button on the back and still nothing
Hey man you are the boss of tech. My tv is working, got so scare I was going to send $$$$. You just got a new subscriber!

@@unknownwolf4046 I have the TCL 4k Roku just for exactly 2 years and I am now having this problem! Hopefully this helps in your decision. Btw....mine flickers black screen every 14 seconds. The first fix he showed did work for me though 🤷🏾♀️
Thank you so much!!! Does anybody knows what causes it to turn black like that? It still has sound. I almost took my t.v. back as i had just bought it.I am just curious why it does this and must be they all do it? Thanks
Because it is a pos. Cheap
@@JohnnieV Mine has only done it once so far
Totally worked step by step per your instructions, exactly as you said it would. Didn’t have to unplug anything. Thanks!
