I don't think there's 1 microphone to buy in 2023. Microphones are going to be different depending on every person's voice. The Sm7b might be good for you but someone else would prefer the RE20 or the Ethos. The MKH 416 might suit one person while the RODE NTG5 might suit someone else better. Microphones are like shoes or clothing. It's going to be different per person, per situation. There's no 1 mic that works great for everyone.
How do you go about figuring out the microphone that's good for you? Currently I have the elgato wave 3 and looking to upgrade it. I have zero idea what to get. I was thinking shure m7 or sm7b because of the popularity.
@@NanoAffect So the initial search is difficult because you have to look at samples of people who tell you a story about the microphone. ie watch Podcastage, Curtis Judd, Tom Buck, Boothjunkie, Audiohaze, Obsure Mics, Audio Mic Hotline, Soundspeeds. I have a few as well in my own channel :P And watch which of them sound the closest to you in tone. Watch which microphones sound good on them or not as great - and when you've narrowed it down, test them out yourself and see which you prefer. Return the rest. If you have a Guitar Center near you, test out the tons of mics they have there on display.
@Dracomies I don't really know what my tone is lol. I don't even understand eq or compression and can barely tell the different. My ear for it isn't very good. I also plan on not having any settings on the mic because I don't know how to do any of it. I want something that I can setup and play. Doesn't have to be usb but just be able to plug in to a mix or my pc and go.
Hi Sir, I want to record my poetry in professional Quality. if I use the original Shure SM 58 mic With Universal Volt 1 Audio Interface. Can I get a good recording? Noise will not come in the recording ? Will I get crisp sound quality?
It's been a long time since we tested both of those, but from memory, they were pretty good individually! We didn't test the two together however. Heres our review of the Volt 2 ruclips.net/video/PD7YDrwG3mM/видео.html
something not so expensive would be the Rode nt1 but also make sure you get a good quality preamp. Lots of people think that only the Microphone matters but that is not true, get a nice Preamp to go with it and you'll be set

i've had absolutely zero luck with usb mic's, always have audio issues, static, back ground fuzz etc, even with voice meeter software, have had to keep going back to my headset mic
Yeah, that's how it usually is. I've had over 20 microphones so far, switched to XLR about 5 years ago and you just can't compare those two. While yes, some high end usb microphones are decent, you just have way more options and control with an XLR, but it does come at a price. Had Aston spirit, podmic, beyerdynamic m201 and few others, but for some reason, since I got myself SM7B I have zero need to think about microphone anymore. It does its job and does it every time perfectly. It does come with a price though, with an inline amp and rodecaster I have, but at the same time, unless something breaks, I won't change a single thing about my setup.
usb mics are trash, Ive been through 3 different usb type c mics all fail after 1.5 years. I have had my sm7b 4 years and works no matter what I do to it, although it does take a bit of work to set up correctly if you are new!
The Shure's low end is on another level.
I have both but much prefer the Rode Procaster over the PodMic

At2020 or Behringer B1 or At2035
Hi Nice upload. Thank you so much.
I think the number one is Shure than the Logitech
No Earthworks or Sontronics?

Plus the Rode Podcaster is USB not XLR😊
🤦My bad, not sure why I included it! - It's featured in the upcoming 'Best USB Mic in 2023' video so stay tuned!
I bought the Spirit and it was unimpressive,,so back it went to Amazon.

Same yeah, I did try several xlr mics before I settled for SM7B, but damn, in combination with rodecaster, it sounds amazing.
I owned sm7b and podmic, I still prefer the podmic
I have the podmic right now but I prefer the sm7b or re20 which are mics I don't have right now even thoui love the podmic
