Hey all - thanks for the love and support on this video already! A LOT of you guys requested a review of the Sony WF-1000XM3 after my Bose QuietComfort buds review, so here's how they compare to those and the Sennheiser Momentum 2. The mic test was in pretty rough conditions, so hopefully it gives you an accurate picture of how well all three options dealt with it. Seems to be a lot of requests for the Jabra 85t (which I have on preorder) but let me know if there's anything else you guys want me to review next? It'd really mean a lot of you guys went over to my personal Instagram and supported me over there too (instagram.com/mrkwd) 🔥 Hope you guys are all safe and well - we're back in national lockdown here in England for the next month. I've worked from home for the last few years anyway so I'm pretty used to it, but not being able to see family is gonna be a drag. But still, I'm massively grateful just to be healthy, not be stuck at home on my own and to tech especially, for making it 10000000% more bearable. See you in next week's video!
I'm looking for some earbuds now, and it would be awesome if you had a spreadsheet or something that gave all of your ratings and marked which features each set of headphones support (e.g. volume controls, multi-point, ANC, etc)
I see you are reviewing the XM3 with silicon ear tips. I found that using the supplied foam tip actually gives me better noise isolation and fit into the ear. If you try the foam, you might find the noise cancellation increases significantly. I also upgrade my Sony supplied foam to Comply foam tips, they are even better in ANC and fit. However, I don’t have Bose to compare.
I've had the Sony for about a year now as well. I love the size, fit and finish of WF-1000XM3 and they still fit me better than the AirPods Pro, the Bose, or any other IEMs. They are comfortable for hours and have a great battery life. The only thing I agree with you on is that the lack of a dust/waterproof rating is a downside. Another weakness are the microphones while making calls even after software upgrades. On the other hand, the sound quality is amazing relative to AirPods Pro which can't compete! Music with or without ANC comes through with authority and precision throughout the frequency range. Highs are good but not painful, mids (voices) excellent and the bass good and precise. Bluetooth is excellent and drops are very infrequent in comparison to my RHAs which used to drop regularly, even if my iPhone was close by.
Meine Meinung
I use this product daily and it is a pleasure to use. I never have pairing problems or any weird glitches. I tend to only use ANC when I am being bothered by a constant noise, I get well over Sony's stated run time. I never had a problem with fit but as a precaution I use the foam tips Comply makes for them, they are extra grippy. They never feel like they are moving or about to fall out. I use the ambient mode when I want to talk or hear announcements, it is very effective. Music sounds great, I only learned recently that this is highly regarded by some audiophile types. I am a fan of the Sony house sound. If it looks like rain I use something else so would like an M4 with a water and sweat resistant build. I would also love to see LDAC on it, I would take a hit on battery life to get that. For headphones and devices you carry with you LDAC is excellent.
Thanks for your great reviews. You've mentioned in a couple of them that the Bose QuietComfort buds have an IPX5 rating but it is only IPX4 and, given my experience of Bose earbuds falling apart, it is significant. Thanks 😊
The WF-1000XM3 are the best ear buds bar none. I agree that they're not as comfortable, and stay in place as well as something like the Apple Air pods but the sound quality absolutely destroys everything on the market. It's impossible for these ear buds to sound bad because you can literally make them sound like anything you want... That statement alone should be enough to justify buying these headphones. I take mine to the gym, and workout with mine but I can see why some people can't use these for the gym. The ear buds come with 8 pairs of tips, and if all 8 of those tips can't fit your ears than you're out of luck. The ear buds only sound good with a proper seal. Without a proper seal these will definitely fall out of your ears, and won't give you the sound quality, and active noise canceling you're looking for when purchasing these ear buds. I pray to god that one of those 8 tips fit the ears of whoever purchases this product because they are seriously missing out if this product doesn't fit them.
@@jansojele289 I guess in the end it's a matter of preference. If you like the sound of Sennheiser than get those. :) The Sennheiser line of headphones were okay when I listened to them. They just lack bass. But again the more important message is It doesn't matter what other's think. Get what you like! That's the more important message. :)
I have had my M3 earbuds for over a year now and I still absolutely love them. Design and build quality remains excellent, the app is really good, fantastic battery life, and truly good quality sound. As for IP rating I did drop one in the sink while I was running water, and it got fairly wet, though there was no problem with it afterwards. So I have to assume it has some degree of an IP rating. There are some improvements that can be made such as wing tips.....but I cannot wait to see what SONY does with the M4 earbuds.
although an old release now but i felt the sony sound signature and battery life is a big pros what made me get this one in December 2021. got them for $120 i hope its a good purchase and product would last for few years as the features of 1000XM3 still looks futuristic backed by an app that can tweak in features with new updates.
I bought good comply memory foam tips and can wear my sonys for hours and haven't had any issues running, I understand everyone has different ear shapes, the mic quality on a phone call isn't great , but the audio quality playing music is really good, I haven't noticed any hiss with my ANC on at all
Listening on my own (black) WF-1000MX3 😊 I only have 3 major complaints: (1) drop too easily for using while running or really any thing more than just walking, (2) the background noises reduction for wind is trash, (3) the app seems powerful, but doesn't connect automatically, and offers few or zero added value to not having it.
@@yakumomo9128 I know, and it's exactly the one I consider trash. The problem is that wind passes over the earbuds themselves, which are not wind ergonomic at all, and the mics used for the ANC actually amplify this noise instead of reducing it. By switching off all noise reducing features then problem is fixed (passive noise canceling, what a surprise). Sorry for this long reply, but it really saddened me to have such nice devices and not being able to enjoy them 100%
I am normally a Bose guy, but I am very happy for these Sony’s, only I miss to be able to adjust volume with them, waterproofness and more suitable for running
I guess none of the wireless buds mic quality can be compared to wired headphones or smartphone's mic itself. I checked sony, bose, samsung, airpods all have muffled not clear microphone sound. I always have issues hearing my friends on call when they are using wireless buds for calls.
@@Brian6374786 they aren't foam, they're more like gel tips. Very wobbly but somewhat more comfortable. Comply eartips are true foam and make them so much nicer to wear.
Was gonna buy my bosses boss quite comfort but due to the shape the silicon earpiece doesnt suit me at all(wouldnt stay in my ears) so ended up going for sony wf1000xm3.i prefer memory foam ear fitting, it made ANC even more effective.
I love my XM3’s. Still unbeaten, in my opinion. As for the mic test... hmmmm... cannot really call that one. The bose were definitely quieter, but they sounded good. I’d say they were all on par with each other.
IMO dont go with the WF-1000XM3s try out the WF-SP800Ns instead. The SP800Ns are IP55 rated, they have wing tips to help hold them into your ears and im pretty positive they are smaller than the XM3s. The only downside is the SP800s dont have the most up to date ANC, they use an older ANC chip than the XM3s. So the trade off is a little worse ANC (still works quite well for me) for better stability in your ears, water resistance and the case is a little smaller. The sound quality is still fantastic between the two and the app is wonderful as well.
I bought the xm3's on January. The noice cancelling is great and the audio for music too. But for calls it sucks for me. They have improved the firmware for calls but I ended buying huawei's freebuds Pro and they are great for calls and very good cancelling noise and very good sound.
Definitely don't agree with the battery life score. Comparing high end earbuds to low end ones is totally unrealistic because of their performance and features. It is like comparing a Civic to a Ferrari. Sure the Civic gives you more miles per gallon but the Ferrari offers a completely different experience that you won't find in a regular Civic even though they functionally do the same thing: drive you from point a to point b.
Sony microphone sounds really mufled and robotic as hell....i almost want to buy this but now i will change it to another, i need the one that have a good microphone for phone call and good enough for hearing music so thank you for this test
I dropped my Sony WF‑1000XM3 earbud into a bucket of water. It's still working flawlessly but I bet that the case wouldn't have survived that though. So I can say that the buds has at least some water resistant. I hope they still work after posting this comment :|
I dont like to much bass because i mostly listen metal music. Do you still recommend it? Is anyone here who listens metal and have Sony? Let me know please :)
Yessir they have an EQ so you can adjust as you like but metal sounds amazing through them. I'm hearing things on meshugah tracks that got muffled on other headphones.
So one area I would recommend you look into as well when considering what your buds you want to buy would be repairability. I live in my earbuds and I started having problems with my AirPods at about the two-year mark right when the extended warranty expired. Started having connectivity issues and battery issues. I’m now 2 1/2 years into my AirPods and they are completely done. Neither earbud will stay connected for longer than 2 1/2 minutes. The charging case will no longer hold a charge. They are just completely done. So that being the case I got really frustrated because $150 to me is not disposable as Apple labels their earbuds. I started looking into the repair ability of other products and there are two that are really high and repairability the galaxy buds as well as the Sony WF 1000 XM threes. The XM threes or perhaps the most repairable when it comes to changing out the battery everything pops open with clips can go right back together the button batteries come right out and can easily be changed out yourself. This feature alone if you’re willing to do a little bit of research and digging in repair work on your earbuds I think will more than double the overall life expectancy of the Sony earbuds when compared to other models. And when you look at possibly getting five years out of your earbuds with Sony versus maybe two with other products that really does make the investment in these that much higher and this is why there is no water proofreading for them because of how easy they are to access to repair so there is a cost benefit dynamic you need to weigh. I absolutely love your reviews but I would strongly encourage you and would love to see the category of repairability put into your reviews because as we go further this is going to become more and more important. I suggest doing a little bit of research on the waist and environmental footprint that is caused by so many of these earbuds being labeled disposable. Thank you for your reviews. Thank you for all the content. And keep up the good work.
I just want to say I have opened these up to replace the battery and there was no adhesive used to seal the earbuds so they most likely aren't water resistant at all....but with that said super easy to replace the battery so they deserve bonus points for that!! 😂
Heyy GREAT REVIEW MAN!! I would like some help in choosing... Could u rank the models (sound stage is important to me ) Samsung galaxy buds pro Sennheiser CX Sony wf 1000xm3 All currently priced the same (120$) where i live
Difficult to believe all this when Sony's lack of codec compared to eg Sennheiser or their own WH1000MX causes latency pops and stuttering on some hardware according to hundreds of commentors, but then you probably don,t have anything not Android or perhaps Apple with inferior ACC. Integrity, integrity. Did you really use it? For a year?
I got them at around 110$ on sale at sony's online store... I was surprised at how light they fit, theyre not as stuffy as my soundpeats truefree, though not as comfy as my lg tonefreee ufp9(my all time favorite tws iems and best soundstage imho) but the sony beats all of them on sound quality and anc.
What if I like listening to pop/rnb/dance music? I'm bass head but at the same time I would be glad if it's not muffled and sounds clean. Which one should I buy?
I loved my sonys however they started cutting in and out . I exchanged them 5 times with the same results, so I ended up switching to bose quiet comfort earbuds and iI am not disapointed.
Just sold my AirPods Pro and bought these. I find these take longer to connect to things like from my iphone to my MacBook. and sometimes I can't connect through the app and have to do it through regular bluetooth. Almost seems buggy. even AirPods aren't seamless as advertised but when you try connecting to bluetooth, they are much quicker (yes they are apple to apple, but this goes for other cheaper earbuds I've tried with the Mac and iphones)). The app seems to sometimes become an impediment when connecting. Dunno if anyone else feels this? Overall sound quality is great, the anc isn't as good as I expected but not bad, and the fit as you said is not amazing. I tried all the ear-tip sizes and the ones that came with it on were the ones I use now but I do feel like they'd fall off if moved around too fast.
Bad fit is a killer, sorry. If they fall off when I am biking or climbing in the mountains, then they are done! Pity since they have such good quality in all other categories. With a better fit I would have taken them, but instead I chose the BOSE.
Hey nice review, a question for you as a headfone expert - would you recommend any replacement tips for the Sony 1000XM3? Comply or something? Interested to know your thoughts on this one
Hey there Mark!! Quick q for you… are the xm3 still worth getting in ‘21 ? Trying to decide on either the xm3 or the technics az70? Or are there other buds worth looking at for around the £150 price point? Thanks!
Great timing of this review was contemplating between these and the sennheiser momentum 1 as in India both have the same price but after this review I think I better go for sony
I'm cycling with 1000xm3 and never problems. Also bought new buds pro and I don't know where is noise control in Samsung buds? No compare sony vs buds please
I need replacement my galaxy buds. One thing im looking for is being able to use each earbud independently while the other is in the case as I mainly use them at work. It jusy shocks me alot fo these higher end earphones don't offer that.
Its earbud's battery only lasts for a maximum of 3 hours on continuous playback with Noise Cancelling function ON instead of what was claimed by Sony's battery specifications that it lasts for 6 hours (NC on) & 8 hours (NC off) which are all rubbish. I also have observed that the left earbud's battery drains quicker than the right earbud on continuous playback. I felt like i was tricked by Sony's false commercialization claims.
Just curious, have you tried the "AZLA SednaEarfit XELASTEC" eartips? I bought them for the XM3 and they are super grippy, amkes for a better experience overall. The material picks up a lot of dust/earwax/lint though and it's pretty expensive.
Yeah, but even though reviewers say that the momentum first gen isn't struggling with draining inside the case, the Amazon reviews in 2020 says otherwise. Considering that the issue was supposedly addressed, makes me question them. There's that and apparently reviews that talk about momentum's terrible customer service.
@@magalybravo7632 My comment is only about the Sound quality. I’m using Momentum 1 for a year and they sound the best among ALL the earphones that I have - Sennheiser PXC550, MM 450X, CX Sport etc.. Draining issue hasn’t bothered me much for my usage.
I still think the AirPods Pro are unbeatable in terms of overall package/experience. Comfortable fit, small convenient case, easy pairing and connecting, great anc, surprisingly long battery life simply push them over the edge.
I was using them the other day and I thought the same. It's been a while now, but they're just so incredibly user friendly, that it almost makes up not having anything special in terms of sound quality. Almost!
Definitely - when I had 800 subscribers I looked to Gamesky and others who were killing it to see how the masters do it. He tells you exactly what you need to know with no BS and his take on sound quality is always spot on 👌🏻
@@kovy4win I’m very sorry for the late reply. To be honest, the fit was really challenging part for me. I tried all of the free tips after I opened the box and the middle was my fit. At fist, It might felt uncomfortable but you’ll get used to with the fit though.
I'm impressed you didn't have a chance to try the freebuds pro yet. I used to use my Sony xm3 all the time, but now I definitely prefer the huawei freebuds pro.
Some buds ship with Comply memory foam tips - but you can always buy them on Amazon too. Not 100% sure they can cure any itchy feeling you might get, but the silicone tips might just have that effect on you. Might be worth trying those instead. Hope that helps!

Didn’t even try to put the earbuds correctly 🤦♂️
I just want to say I have opened these up to replace the battery and there was no adhesive used to seal the earbuds so they most likely aren't water resistant at all....but with that said super easy to replace the battery so they deserve bonus points for that!! 😂
Heyy GREAT REVIEW MAN!!
I would like some help in choosing... Could u rank the models (sound stage is important to me )
Samsung galaxy buds pro
Sennheiser CX
Sony wf 1000xm3
All currently priced the same (120$) where i live
Difficult to believe all this when Sony's lack of codec compared to eg Sennheiser or their own WH1000MX causes latency pops and stuttering on some hardware according to hundreds of commentors, but then you probably don,t have anything not Android or perhaps Apple with inferior ACC. Integrity, integrity. Did you really use it? For a year?
Comparing with Huawei Freebuds 3 Pro what do you think as sound,ANC?Cheers
Lol wtf? There's no fucking way they gave you 5 pairs of new headphones and they all were bad. You're full of shit.
Can you do a review of the Nothing Ear 1?
It's still funny to imagine him doing the intro over and over to get the name correctly
"Are the Sony WF1000X-- damn it."
Call quality is best in bose qc.
Can you add wingtips to the Sony buds?
Nice reviews! Are you planning to review Soundcore Life Q30 s anytime?
Bad fit is a killer, sorry. If they fall off when I am biking or climbing in the mountains, then they are done! Pity since they have such good quality in all other categories. With a better fit I would have taken them, but instead I chose the BOSE.
For next video I would like to see the jabra elite 85t or fiil T1 pro nc or jbl club pro plus noise canceling true wireless earbuds
Not worh it with 75T getting the ANC update, too expensive for a mediocre sound.
Hey nice review, a question for you as a headfone expert - would you recommend any replacement tips for the Sony 1000XM3? Comply or something? Interested to know your thoughts on this one
I bought spinfit eartips for both of my pair of wf-1000xm3's (my brother and mine). I haven't tried them yet
@@corey7219 I ended up getting some comply, great isolation and sound, bit uncomfy after long periods though
If you want experience true potential of xm3's then try spinfit cp 360 or cp 100 plus..
Good choice! Greetings from the UK too 🔥
@@mrkwd thanks man , keep up the good work , also can you update on the jabra 75t after the anc update , how do they stack up against sony wf1000xm3?
Momentum 1s have that horrible battery issue anyway
@@MathiasR1384 yup I had the first gen and damn that drain issue was annoying thankfully that's no longer a problem on the new ones.
@@shamhosein770 regardless battery problem, how about sound quality my friend?
I like this kind of review that you make section in play bar
I got these for €85 on sale nice
Can you review the Ultimate Ears Fits?
Bose was much better talking to us outside.
It jusy shocks me alot fo these higher end earphones don't offer that.
ambient mode won't work or just optics on having both buds in?
Bruh you are such an underrated channel. You deserve a mil subs. Love your vids ❤️
Yay, another video!
Thanks for the support Anthony! 🔥🔥🔥
@@mrkwd Any time :D
I just got mine today but the noice cancelling doesnt work. I’ve done everything that is suppost to work but they dont
And now how is the condition of battery life ?
I had to return the Sony's because they kept disconnecting to my pixel XL 3, and it wouldn't play sound to google meets.
Just curious, have you tried the "AZLA SednaEarfit XELASTEC" eartips? I bought them for the XM3 and they are super grippy, amkes for a better experience overall. The material picks up a lot of dust/earwax/lint though and it's pretty expensive.
I believe that the Bose had the clearer audio compared to the Sonys
bro you didnt have the xm3s all the way in your ears 😭
MARK when you wear it twist the earbud to get a better fit
These are currently $120 on Amazon.
if i get tidal, will i get hi fi quality for sony??? is sony capable of it?? or should i stay on premium quality?
Momentums are considered to be the best in Sound quality by almost all the reviews I’ve watched so far..
Almost!
Just a question for you Mark now I know you love Jimmy review room U must Also love gamesky
Definitely - when I had 800 subscribers I looked to Gamesky and others who were killing it to see how the masters do it. He tells you exactly what you need to know with no BS and his take on sound quality is always spot on 👌🏻
i just cant use those in ear style buds. bose with the hook in system works best for me.
I got to say the bose its more clear audio
It definitely has an advantage purely when comparing stock sound signature and soundstage. But so it should in 2020 to be fair! Thanks for watching!
@@mrkwd thanks for make the video you do I appreciate it
I use them even more than my Sennheiser Momentum 2.
Great video!! Good job bro!
Any idea when the xm4 are coming out?
Its out mate
I've heard they are not very loud, how would compare to others, say Sabbat E12 Ultra ????
Subscribed and liked and a good review. Looking forward to your review of Sony WF-SP800N.
For people who own these how does it do real world with RUclips or netflix viewing?
Just got my xm3 for a great price! And I’m so happy with it. Anyways, you just got a new sub. 😁
Are they pretty snug in your ear or wiggle around?
@@kovy4win the right fits in perfect but I have never found the right tip in a u ear bud thsf fits my left
@@kovy4win I’m very sorry for the late reply. To be honest, the fit was really challenging part for me. I tried all of the free tips after I opened the box and the middle was my fit. At fist, It might felt uncomfortable but you’ll get used to with the fit though.
@@mattc2114 that’s unfortunate, I think there are 3rd party tips that you can buy.
Please do the Tronsmart Apollo Bold
saw the video today then went out and bought it
I really want to buy these but the airpods pro with the air vents seem as a better option
I'm impressed you didn't have a chance to try the freebuds pro yet. I used to use my Sony xm3 all the time, but now I definitely prefer the huawei freebuds pro.
Which phone so you use bro
Can you please make a video for jays t7 wireless please!?
The Bose microphone quality was way too quiet compared to the other two. The Sennheisers are the best and by far.
Is there a tip which makes fit less likely to cause an itch type irritation?
Some buds ship with Comply memory foam tips - but you can always buy them on Amazon too. Not 100% sure they can cure any itchy feeling you might get, but the silicone tips might just have that effect on you. Might be worth trying those instead. Hope that helps!
