Thanks for the link but it says it’s unavailable and don’t know when it will be in stock but I appreciate that if you come across any other links that do have the Monitor let me knowThank you in advance
I got one for $49 too. I am taking out my monitor and joystick and putting in a switch with it's joystick so I can have a dock for it. You did an awesome job showing us how to mod it to make the screen better. It's a shame that the My Arcade little cabs for originally $40 have a better screen in it for something that originally was $150
I would love to have seen you put in a 10. 1" screen here, to see how difficult the process was & if it was possible. I had a Countercade but sold it after only 24 hrs because the 8" screen was too small
I just wanna say i would not ever do what you are doing cause like I am a clumsy sob and don't have that kind patience, but omg u are so setting up a great side business for yourself if people see these.......
I have the stand up final fight arcade machine. Got it for $50 at a local Walmart a while back! Must of been in the back hidden..lol. I missed out on the NBA jam for $100. I wanted one of these style though to mod. Thanks for the videos. I may end up modding the final fight since I cant get a countertop one.
Thanks for this.. I just upgraded this same Galaga Gen 2 countercade with a Jamma board. My first plan was to keep the stock LCD and I was able to get the correct LCD driver board - at the very last step, I think I accidentally tore that super thin gold ribbon cable. I turned on the machine, nothing but "no signal" came on in the middle of the screen and then it went black. Then the background music kicked on, so I was fairly certain the rest of it was correctly done. After thinking it must be the cable connection to the LCD board, that's when the tear happened. And then the little black bar on the connector that holds the ribbon in place fell off. When it rains, it pours... so NOW.. I'm thinking I want to do exactly what you did because after hooking the Jamma board directly to an external monitor, I was able to see the games, was able to put it in free play and successfully played one. Only problem is that I don't have a router and not sure if I trust myself to clean out that pocket like you did. Do you happen to know any other monitors that may work that may not require custom cutting? I saw some 8" Raspberry Pi screens on eBay with their driver board, but I have no idea what would really work at this point.
I want to keep the appearance stock for those that like the look. I dig the proportions with the 8” monitor but I may experiment with different sizes in the future.
Good eye. I install head units on the regular. My son got a complete system installed by me for his 18th birthday. Sony double DIN, ported Kicker 12” enclosure and custom amp rack.
@@19kfox good stuff. tesa tape, busting out the trim router and jigsaw with confidence unlike most arcade1up videos. seemed obvious to me. i've been doing car audio for i think 34-5 years now. lol
I like it so far. I went to go get the stock monitor converter from Berryberrysneaky (GeekSales on EBay) and he is sold out already...go figure. Maybe I will try this if he doesn't restock in a week or two. Putting a Raspberry Pi 3A in mine with a vertical one button image. Already ordered most of what I need for my mod already.
Couldn't you do the same thing like this for a 10.1" lcd panel? Granted you lose the factory graphic artwork bezel but it would improve the screen size a lot more. BTW, how did you mount the new lcd monitor pcb inside the cabinet?
How are the viewing angles on the new screen compared to stock? I must say I'm not very happy with the stock screen and if this gives me an upgrade in quality as well as hdmi for a RPi then I'm sold.
Another quick question on the countercade.. do you think you could use the stock monitor and turn it 90 degrees(horizontal), and maybe hook up a pic or a Pandora box and it would work?
You would need to route a horizontal rectangle in the monitor support panel to make it mount flush behind the stock bezel. Stay tuned to the channel. I’ve got similar plans for my second Galaga cab. 🦊👊🏼
@@19kfox ok. Thanks man.. I appreciate the reply.. and I hear ya on the mount itself.. just hoping the screen will rotate the game 90 degrees if you mod the games. I will def be looking out for that... I’m going to post a video in the next day or 2 on my tmnt mods... so you may want to check that out, seeing you have one. Have a good one
Here’s the Amazon link to the monitor: www.amazon.com/dp/B0722HBVM5/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_MHRSMJK33TG5HHNNKJCK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
All that was needed was to drill a small hole for the power cable, it comes with speakers as well.

Haha I actually have one of those PSOnes with the lcd screen, never thought of hooking it up to a countercade!
Congrats on 1K Fox!

If you're going to this much trouble, why not just upgrade to a 10.4" monitor?
I want to keep the appearance stock for those that like the look. I dig the proportions with the 8” monitor but I may experiment with different sizes in the future.
Great video. Thank you!
I always saw you as a Raiden guy Fox... Nice!!!
I’ll take that as a compliment, haha.
@@19kfox Yeah it's a very good series. Traditional and solid shooter. Can't argue with the choice.
instead of routing out for depth for the new monitor. I think it would be easier to pad out the front of panel with 1/8" board and paint it black.
LOVE the video. Any ghosting or lag? or should we get a much better higher res ? Thanks for sharing.
good stuff. do you dabble in car audio? or cars in general? i don't see many just having some tesa tape laying around.

Nice work! Did you reattach the joystick and buttons?
Thanks! Still working on that and getting the artwork ordered.
This is like putting craiger ss rims on your 1974 pinto.
Not really because he got the full cab, buttons, speakers for 50 bucks with the sole purpose of modding it.
17” or 15” Cragars?

For this build I wanted to keep the stock proportions. I used double sided foam tape to attach the boards.
Just curious but all this for an HDMI input and no screen size upgrade?

The viewing angles are much better. I was shocked at the poor quality of the stock lcd. 🦊👊🏼

I'm actually thinking bout doing this to my TMNT counter-cade but using a PS2 slim or Sega Genesis mini.
I’ve got a video coming out this week covering this very idea.
@@19kfox will you be covering how to use the control deck as well and not the game system controller 🎮 ?
Great mod mod fox
I would be interested in purchasing the old screen from you to replace my cracked screen
Unfortunately I trashed the original.
@@19kfox I’ve looked all over trying to get a replacement screen and I cannot come across one anywhere
You sound like Christian Bale.
Is this a gen 1 or 2 cab?
2nd generation, the smaller of the two.
do the new cabs have a usb port on it? so can i link it to a monitor through that?
The USB port on the 3rd Gen countercades is for a controller only.
@@19kfox thanks for the quick response!!!
what is your opinion for this compared to a normal 1up arcade?
@@19kfox is there an easy way to hook up the countercade to a rca (to old school tv)?
