Thanks for showing this video, as it helped me take apart mine when I was rebuilding it or planning out the process as I could reference the inside of it. I completely gutted my MSH countercade and put all new speak, monitor, joysticks and LED buttons.(I drilled the holes for the power and volume holes for the coin buttons.) I put a rasberry pi 4 and a splitter to to hook it up to a TV. I replaced USB and headphone jack with USB ports to hook to the pi for 4 players. It's a fun party trick to bring to things. I periodically bring it to work and let my coworkers play. I know I could just shoved a USB flash drive into it and cheaply added a bunch of games, but I wanted to go all out. Of the counter cades, this definitely has the best layout to start with to mod since it has 7 buttons already on it for each side. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
@19kfox, I really appreciate the breakdown of this countercade! I recently received my unit after ordering from Target and I couldn't be happier! Like you, I think the monitor/screen is really great. I might be in the minority, but I think that the controls (including the buttons) are better...especially the joystick. I am very satisfied with this A1Up product and am thrilled to receive the Mortal Kombat countercade next. Cheers, Brent
Just found your channel and will be subbing. Also, I'm a fighting game player (tourneys and such). The sticks in fightsticks normally come as square gates. Some old Happ and American sticks didn't even have gates for the fighting games. Since the majority of the games in that cab are FGs, that's probably why there is a square gate... maybe, haha.
So the gist I get is that the custom hdmi out of this pcb is different from the one on the 3/4 scale pcbs, and likely we just need to wait for adapter boards? Kinda sucks, but good to know. I’ll have to put my thoughts of dropping a midway legacy board into the MKII countercade on hold.
Bought one for my son. We plugged it in and started playing Marvel Vs Capcom and then backed out to play Xmen Vs Street fighter. It froze on the load page so we turned it off and turned it back on and now just thr marquee lights up no screen or sound. Litteraly right out if the box. Arcade1up told me to try plugging the power cord directly into the system and bypass the cord that acts as an extension.....but they're not even the same size so that was a no go. Then they asked me to reset the switch and the only one I could find did nothing
Thanks for the heads up. I was thinking of buying the MK countercade to upgrade my 3/4 MK cab (non-legacy) so that I could have a more complete MK lineup. Based on your findings that probably won't be feasible.
I got that mk2 countercade for 17 dollars. I was wondering if Happ buttons would fit, but it looks like that plastic tray not be tall enough. Maybe the lower profile ones may fit.
I believe they should add live with the single and double countercades. That way kids could play each other on line. Can't get to your buddies place and you both have countercades that someone bought for you they could connect on line. Another possibility is that you and your friends could all play Tmnt. With 2 countercades with live could play a 4 player game. Gauntlet, Simpsons, Xmen ... the 4ply. games are endless thar could be applied. I dunno just a thought. 🤔

Is there any way to have a splitter on the control board and PCB? I want to do some type of mod so I could hit a button and switch between the original Arcade 1 Up and a Pi 4. Reason is when I have guests or kids playing on the cab, with the Pi they always mash buttons and get into menu screens they shouldn't be in. So I rather hit a switch and just let the guest play with the original 1up games. Also I don't have any room for two separate cabs.
What software is it running? Can I mod the Operating System? How much game storage space does it have and how much do the four included games occupy? Can I add games to the board itself? Can I install different OS?
@19kfox, I have a question about something and I was planning to buy one of these countercades especially this one because it has the six buttons and I wanted to see if a family edition Pandora's Box DX would work on this if I had all the correct wiring and stuff?
I’d wait until a reliable HDMI breakout board becomes available. Also the location of the speaker will complicate the placement of the components. I plan to put together a mod video on this cab so stay tuned.
Oh ok I see and I didn't know if the hooking up would be a issue since it works well on the other full size Arcade1up units so I thought it would be the same connecting on the countercades. I appreciate the info on this and I really want the TMNT one since I missed out in that one but yeah man, the new countercades look sweet and I like the upgrade monitor. :)
@@19kfox awesome! I have a kit on the way and I have a raspberry pi 4 with a marvel countercade. I think im going to change the sticks too because my top keeps coming off.

I have several videos on my channel showing the process. It’s pretty straight forward. Just take a picture of before you start so you’ll have a reference. Sanwa is a great upgrade but you need to get the button that snap into 1/2” material not the standard 1/8”.
@@19kfox I will have to look for them. I just bought them and someone suggested putting in a ticket with 1up for a new control deck? I'm not sure what route to take but they both have this problem.

Arcade1up just refunded the 75$ shipping cost. Had to ask to speak to a supervisor/ customer service manager. Was contacted within an hour on Friday and had my refund Monday morning great customer service!
I think you hit it right on the button. I can't see two people sitting right next to each other playing, possibly standing but with that controller the other person can sit back and both will have room to play comfortably. 🤔
