THATS IT! Those 3 ingredients are all you need!
Have fun, do your homework!
A couple forgotten details! I know, i suck.
1.THE HDMI CONVERTER USES SAME POWER SUPPLY THAT THE CAB COMES WITH.
2.YOU WILL NEED TO BORE OUT THE STOCK POWER AND VOLUME HOLES TO FIT NEW BUTTONS FOR “SELECT”. You can use these extra buttons as select and hotkey inputs

Hey man I made a really cool launch screen will you help me make it work on Nova launcher??? Check it out on my page
Hey I have tried everything and believe it’s all correct but still can’t see anything the screen lights up black but that’s all I can see I can hear other games playing and that’s it. Any shit you can help?
@@FrostyBite hhmmmm, and you checked all the connections to make sure theyre in all the way?
@@dadgamertv84 I can double check is there any way I’m able to contact you if possible or is this the best bet. Haha we can double check we just have some lights atm. On the screen
@@dadgamertv84 the screen is just goo in red. Then blue then green then white then black.
Hey man i know u made this a year ago. but you probably know this video has helped at least 100s so I think it's cool you took time to put this together to help other nerds and geeks like us lol. Seriously this is a real comment from a real person. Thanks for being real etc lol
Thanks man, i appreciate that
Just wanted to pop in here to say i followed your guide step by step for modding my cabinet and you made things SO easy. I have zero experience with any of this and managed to nail it by rewatching this video about 100 times lol 🙌
Lil tip for anyone doing this mod with a midway legacy - you can order a new control panel with the additional button holes pre drilled for like 65 bucks. Made this project super smooth...thanks a ton DadGamer!
Awesome!! Glad to here it

To get full screen without the bars, use aspect ratio 30/17!
AWESOME TUTORIAL! You just gained a new subscriber!
I'd like to ask you something though, do you think I'd be able to keep using the original buttons and joysticks, so that I can save on those? Or are those new buttons and joysticks necessary for the mod to work? Thank you for taking the time
They’re necessary for THIS TYPE of mod. Because they need the usb connections to plug into the controller ports
Sou técnico de flipper/games ha mais de 40 anos, atualmente tenho em casa uma Pandora, de verdade ela é ótima, sempre tive dezenas de máquinas quando surgiram os Neo Geo com mais jogos foi um alivio
***To remove the wires - use a small flat head screw driver, and gently lift them off the pins - They won't break !!
Thanks DadGamers TV. I watched a few videos on modding, including ETA Prime's, but your video gave me unique information that suits my needs. I got an old Super Console X several years ago but didn't play much (the ps3 controllers suck), so I wanted to put it in an Arcade1up. Your video fits my situation, as the Arcade Box is similar (both use Emulec). I also didn't understand why we need to splice stock speakers and get an expensive AMP for sound anyways; your suggestion of using old computer speakers is great (I got one for 7 bucks from GoodWill). Finally, your tips on controller/display settings and hot keys for sound control are very helpful. I have a fully functional Street Fighter Arcade1up mod now with Super Console X, very happy. Thanks!
Awesome!!! Glad to hear it
This is exactly what I want to do as well💪🤓
Love this video and now my husband is on a mission!
Walmart usually has good prices!
Is it possible to play games like NBA Jam with 4 players, if i install the arcade box in a nfl Blitz arcade 1 up? What do you think?
The arcade box only comes with two usb ports
U shudnt say common sense before doing this u shud say what normal people say n that the laymen will probably fuck something up n also likely dub their investments but u probably bought gme at a high so
You’ll notice that with Sega NAOMI the mvc2 has all players unlocked to avoid any frustration and having to grind and buy characters.
I cant find the VSDISPLAY can someone help ?
Does it work with the pac man machine?
It should work with any. As long as you get the HDMI converter
@@dadgamertv84 thank you man!
This duuuuuuuude is selling the arcade box lmao. Not complaining just noticed xD I'll give you some money brother
@@oyeah310 not really, i actually just swapped it with the Super Console
And at the end of the day you are still stuck with a crap quality cab that weighs nothing and rocks back and forth while playing. Nope.
Anyone doing their majority of gaming on a novelty arcade? Like i said at the beginning of the video, its just a decorative piece
Hey we’re trying to start the machine but just left with a blank screen any shot you can help?
1:09 nobody could make “black nuts” sound worse 😅
Thanks for the awesome, simple to understand video. I do have a quick question though, at the end of your video when you're showing some of the games, i.e. Mortal Kombat, will there always be black side bars for certain games? I saw in a different video where you can go into settings and set the video output to 16:9, is this an option that's available on your system? Can't wait to start playing some old school games!
Yes, switch the ratio to 16:9 and it’ll be full screen
What did u do for speakers and my volume doesn't go up much and sound sucks.when I can max it out and new board can't attach the volume up and power one on my arcade 😢
I plugged regular computer speakers into the audio jack of the hdmi converter
For the price of these 1ups the build quality is pretty awful.
Bingo, thats why id rather mod one than buy multiple
Thanks for the video I’m definitely going to try this asap
Do you have to change your buttons for each gaming system you choose to play ?
Does it run Mortal Kombat 4?
can you still get it . i know he got in trouble so i want one is it to late for me
What???
Can this play Marvel Vs Capcom 2?
Yes it does
how are you powering on the machine?
@@michaelroth6975 i bored a hole in the back where the power button is ruclips.net/video/2WbSZagPBWs/видео.htmlsi=9J2C2AwsDPnq4S7n
It's kinda unfortunate that you're stuck with the button layout of Mortal Kombat/NFL Blitz instead of a more traditional 6-button fighting game layout, but the overall project is still very cool. The Arcade1up machines are so limited and being able to play anything on your expensive cabinet is an upgrade for sure.
Does it work with 4 players stick
No
Hi there , the HDMI converter on Amazon has 2 resolutions. Should I get the 960 or the 1024? Thanks in advance
Full honestly, i have no clue.
Know if all of this is possible with an iiRcade?
I have no clue 🤷🏽♂️, im sure theres videos of someone doing it to one of those though
I have a question the light on the motherboard is green and the screen lights up white for about 10 seconds then the light switches to red any reason why?
Might just be loose. Make sure the board is really secure (without cracking it of course) . I had the same issue
Thank you!
Thats hot....
do you have to add the new buttons or is that optional?
Optional
This particular way of modding, using a super console, you have to change the buttons.
I Wanna change my buttons for the LED ones so Bad Lol, I don't think i could do this though id be too scared to mess up the button layout or something
Is it possible to just leave the buttons and joysticks as is?
@@marcojaramillo8848 not this particular mod method
Thx!. I got MK 2 deluxe. Got one extra button (live button). Could use that as select player one. Can I use that same button for select player 2? To avoid drilling a hole..
Can Primal Rage be installed?
Its on there
I was gonna give this an attempt, blight the supplies but remembered I don't have common sense. All the parts has been sitting in my cabinet collecting dust for 3 years now 😢 not wanting to drill holes and risk looking ugly, wish they had a paper layout...
Would this work on a partycade model
That seems like quite a bit of money to spend on an arcade cabinet and screen, since you appear to be bypassing the A1u content entirely.
Clearly, a lot of people like the idea, though, so more power to you all. Enjoy.
Do you have to get new controllers
With this particular way, yes you do
Could a intec switch fighting stick would work instead of the light up buttons?
Now I know what I'm doing this weekend. Thanks for making this vid man!
Yo dude! I just got done following along with your video on my MK3 cab and it’s looking really great. Thanks you 👍 one question, I went through the process of mapping the controls like you showed but then when I jump into games the system seems to default to different controls for different systems/games and it loses the mapping I just put in? . Any idea how I could make this work consistently in the settings perhaps?
That happened to me too, i just kept annoyingly remapping them and left it on. They ended up sticking after leaving it on
Will this work with a usb hub to upgrade to 4 players?
I dont see why not
Now that i think about it, it might mess with button configurations
Got it all setup only problem is when I load up a game there is no audio. Do you know why ?
Loose connection maybe? Or volume is down. I installed computer speakers for better sound. I just plugged them in and left them on the bottom of the arcade INSIDE the cabinet
@@dadgamertv84 there is audio when you see the game video before selecting a game just not when you launch the game which is strange
@@migattekid yeah that is strange
can i still hook up the arcade box without changing the original button/joystick board? thanks for the vid!
No. You gotta switch them out.
Do have to change the buttons?
Not if you find an HDMI converter thats compatible with the original control deck
I hope you see this (since you made this a year ago), but changing buttons is a personal preference, correct? I have NFL Blitz and I'm interested in modding it. Thanks
Gotta change the buttons because the new ones are usb compatible to plug into the arcade box
Wreck it Ralph upgrades his 1up
Bro one question can u use the speakers that come with the arcade?
Yeah you can
How do you lower controller lag on that "arcade box? It seems to be running behind controller inputs
No clue man, sorry.
I finally modded it and now I can play ps3 on my arcade 1 up thanks man your a life saver
can this run mame emulator
Yeah, its on there.
Import
How much does this all cost all together ?
About $125
Minus the arcade
Can I do on tmnt machine
Not too sure, unless you find an arcade box with 4 controller ports
So I guess you can't just add ROMs to the existing computer? sorry if you already addressed this
You might be able to, i dont know how to do any of that. I just made simpler video to follow, other than the ones i watched to do this.
I see a few of these done to the Mortal Kombat 2 machine. Can this be done to others ? What does it depend on ? NFL Blitz? Im in the market but I'm a Blitz fan . Any help is appreciated.
It can be done to the others. I did this so that i didnt have to buy blitz but it doesnt have blitz on there
how is the arcade box doing? I haven't seen many reviews on how well that box handles after a few months
Working fine. Its more if a decoration piece these days, i change the game every couple days. I leave it on. Alot of guys were mounting the box with the fan up against the wall which was making it shit the bed. I have mine with the fan facing out.
@@dadgamertv84 Thanks for the reply...
Have you figured out how to add credits to a game?
Is it possible to add light gun in this mod?
@@JovanasWorld-cr2hm no
How about connected to Nintendo switch and using Nintendo shot gun with joy-con?
@JovanasWorld-cr2hm yeah i guess so, this video is for more games as an “arcade” but essentially you’re putting in an HDMI converter so you can put whatever you want in there.
Looking to get an arcade 1up. Is there a process for adding and removing games from the sd card?
There is, i just dont know it.
Good video 🫶. I have two questions. The first is that the whole thing works without replacing the original buttons. The second question is does the coin slot still work after the mod? I would like to set up a machine with lots of games, but the coin slot has to work.
My coin slots are non functional, theyre just a flat panel board. And yes you have to replace the buttons for this particular mod
Does it matter what sequence the buttons are in the slots - Because it's not letting me choose the player 1 (Start) key - Like am I supposed to place that one in slot 1
Yeah it does matter, you have to follow the diagram, and you have place player 2 in the same sequence as player 1 or else the controls go haywire
I bought this arcade box because I watched your video. When I plugged it in the screen is white. I hooked the arcade box to the tv, so I know it works. When I connect it to arcade cabinet. The screen stays white
Make sure the the moniter circuit board that has the power button is attached securely. If its loose, it will mess with the screen
if i want to only install the arcade box do i need to change the pcb
Yeah you have to, otherwise theres no connecting it to anything
@@dadgamertv84 thank you for your time to replying if you don’t mind answering one more question so the only thing you need is a new pcb to connect the arcade box
@@choccy2777 you kind of HAVE TO get the new buttons because they come with usb connections that plug into the arcade box… BUT unless you find a pcb thats compatible with the control decks original connectors, your good

Love this video bro As a fellow dad, i have a question? I built a bartop using same joystick kit except I used the super console pro cube instead of the arcade box. Worked pretty good except it took real long for screen to pass the Emulec boot up screen. And it kept switching the joystick from player one to player two after some boot ups. Did the same thing happen to you using the the arcade box? I want to build another bartop using the arcade box if it works better and more consistent. Thanks bro. Salud 🍻
Yup same thing happened to me, then i double checked the wiring. Have to make sure they are wired into the same exact spots as each other. Use the diagram if it came with one. After i double checked the wires, it was fine.
You couldnt fit the buttons in for start on and off and the volume switch wow how do u go about turning the system on and off
I fixed all that afterwards
I want to do this w my Ms pacman arcade
Forgot to ask can we still use the speaker from the mk2 arcade? I have the same one you modified. Or is it better to use aftermarket sound.
Stock speaker isnt as loud. I like to use aftermarket. Bigger sound. But yeah you can use it if you want

Do you have to turn on the Arcade Box from inside the cabinet or how does that work? Simple method though I like this a lot. I was thinking of getting a PC to run Botocera on one of these but may do this instead. I want it to be as seamless as possible, as if it were intended to come that way.
After i made the video i ended up drilling a hole in the back cover of the cabinet , right where the power button is on the Arcade Box. Since i mounted the arcade box on the rear support panel, it made it easier to do so. That way i dont have to keep taking the back panel off.
@@dadgamertv84 That’s a good idea. I’m doing a build with a PC instead of the Arcade Box. I bought a remote power button for it, and I’m going to drill a hole in the back as well. I liked the PC option as it seems more versatile and also it was cheaper lol.
How do you turn off the arcade?
I drilled a whole in the back of the arcade right where the button is for the arcade box. Thought of it way after this video, i always kept it on.
For the people looking to keep the original on/off buttons and sound!
I found two cool video's of a guy using a power bar I'll post it here for the people whom ever want to keep the original power buttons on the arcade and the sound from another youtuber!

Can I connect a laptop motherboard to it? and a system for coins?
I have no clue
So basically you can connect any arcade fight sticks to that arcade box and play ?
Pretty much
Am about to do this in 2024 😅 man shouldn't be bad.
Hey how does the on and off switch work? Does the cabinet and arcade box come on with a push or flip of a switch?
Yeah the switch thats on the arcade box
How much does it cost overall in canadian dollars to do this, thanks?
For the cab and everything it was around $500 USD. So convert that
Question does this have dragins lair, space and dragon's lair II
Yes
Could you do this, but keep the stock buttons and joysticks? I'm looking to do this mod, but with a Rampage Arcade Machine
You gotta find an HDMI converter thats compatible with the stock buttons
I just bought the same cabinet with the intention to modify it the same way as in this video ! Just ordered in fact the hdmi converter from aliexpress ( will take a month it says to be delivered ... ugh.. ). Thank you so much for the instructions !
The only issue that bothered me with this particular cab is that its kinda short for me ( I'm 6.2 ), so I ended up buying four metallic legs 10cm in height to raise it up a bit.
One question - wouldn't it be possible to use the speakers the cabinet comes with ? They seem to have a standard speaker jack, I think so anyway.
Yes, you can use the original speakers.the pcb has a 3.5 mm jack in it as well, it has 2 of them just make sure you plug it in the right one. Theyre just not as loud.
@@dadgamertv84 Thanks again !
Would this method work for any arcade or 1up only
1up only, you can take out the micro SD card and add games if you know how. But i dont.
Nice job! I love the box arcade is amazing, I recommend u to place a computer fan together to the box👍.
Thanks! I put the box in there upside down so its fan can breathe. Alot of people putting it in regular have had overheating issues and system failures. I keep it on constantly, no issues.
Great video, 🌹
Will this method work with arcade1up mortal kombat 30th anniversary cabinet?
Not sure, probably not. I bought this cabinet before Arcade1up was even popular
Does any one know if the hdmi adapter works on the Neo Geo MSVX arcade cabinet?
Would this work with the Killer Instinct cabinet that has 6 buttons for the characters?
The button kits come with 10 buttons for each color. So i dont see why not
thanks for this beautiful video, i have followed the steps and am all good, but i also have encountered some issues, i have the latest arcade1up the yoga flame one, 2 features stopped working which is the cabinet lighting and the internal speaker that comes in it, i had to buy a new speaker, if you ever going to make a new video to mod ur speakers it would be lovely instead of buying external ones, am in for another challenge as well. as for mine i have added three more button and i used a drill to make the holes more wider a bit to fit "in" the button instead of them popping out just like urs for the additional ones, and you got a subscribe
Is there any additional cables I need or is everything included with the buttons or already in the arcade machine?
Hdmi cable

Do you think a steam deck would work with this method? It'd be so cool to play like Dragon Ball FighterZ on a cabinet.
Steam deck i don’t know but since you’re converting it to HDMI, you can probably hook up whatever you want thats controlled by USB. Ps4, old xbox, etc.
