Just wanted to pop in here to say i followed your guide step by step for modding my cabinet and you made things SO easy. I have zero experience with any of this and managed to nail it by rewatching this video about 100 times lol 🙌 Lil tip for anyone doing this mod with a midway legacy - you can order a new control panel with the additional button holes pre drilled for like 65 bucks. Made this project super smooth...thanks a ton DadGamer!
Hey man i know u made this a year ago. but you probably know this video has helped at least 100s so I think it's cool you took time to put this together to help other nerds and geeks like us lol. Seriously this is a real comment from a real person. Thanks for being real etc lol
Thanks DadGamers TV. I watched a few videos on modding, including ETA Prime's, but your video gave me unique information that suits my needs. I got an old Super Console X several years ago but didn't play much (the ps3 controllers suck), so I wanted to put it in an Arcade1up. Your video fits my situation, as the Arcade Box is similar (both use Emulec). I also didn't understand why we need to splice stock speakers and get an expensive AMP for sound anyways; your suggestion of using old computer speakers is great (I got one for 7 bucks from GoodWill). Finally, your tips on controller/display settings and hot keys for sound control are very helpful. I have a fully functional Street Fighter Arcade1up mod now with Super Console X, very happy. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Ive been wanting to make one of these. I told my wife that if I thought about making one that means that someone else thought about it too. Unfortunately the gaming hardware no longer exist in Amazon but I have a small pc that I will install Batocera and add the 5000+ games that I have on a hard drive. Again... Thanks for the video!!
AWESOME TUTORIAL! You just gained a new subscriber! I'd like to ask you something though, do you think I'd be able to keep using the original buttons and joysticks, so that I can save on those? Or are those new buttons and joysticks necessary for the mod to work? Thank you for taking the time
Thank you for great video, it gave me enough info to do this myself. I found out that if you buy the cheap amp seen in other mods, you can use the stock speakers when they are connected from the HDMI board to the amp. Hope this helps someone in the future as well.
It's kinda unfortunate that you're stuck with the button layout of Mortal Kombat/NFL Blitz instead of a more traditional 6-button fighting game layout, but the overall project is still very cool. The Arcade1up machines are so limited and being able to play anything on your expensive cabinet is an upgrade for sure.
@@dadgamertv84 thanks for letting me know. I just looked on their website and found it. But its only time crisis one. They should have added one and two because two was the best. One was ok. Number 3 they started to lose their roots and when four came out they lost it all. Sad to see time crisis go. Time crisis should have went to pc where you can buy exclusive guns and foot pedals like how logitech sells flight controllers and steering wheels. I loved taking a $20 bill to the arcade and spending it all on time crisis. The guns were awesome well at least the ones with the guns going back and forth making you feel like the gun was shooting. Some arcades had the guns that didn’t move i stayed away from those places. Nice upload thanks for sharing your experience
Looks like they weren’t crimped properly and the heatsink was not applied properly. When it comes to stuff like this be ready to put in work that the factory didn’t. Car speakers get stuck also a little but once you unplug it like 3 times it should be easier to pull out. Looks exactly almost like the connectors for car speakers
That seems like quite a bit of money to spend on an arcade cabinet and screen, since you appear to be bypassing the A1u content entirely. Clearly, a lot of people like the idea, though, so more power to you all. Enjoy.
Thanks for the awesome, simple to understand video. I do have a quick question though, at the end of your video when you're showing some of the games, i.e. Mortal Kombat, will there always be black side bars for certain games? I saw in a different video where you can go into settings and set the video output to 16:9, is this an option that's available on your system? Can't wait to start playing some old school games!

Good video 🫶. I have two questions. The first is that the whole thing works without replacing the original buttons. The second question is does the coin slot still work after the mod? I would like to set up a machine with lots of games, but the coin slot has to work.
Working fine. Its more if a decoration piece these days, i change the game every couple days. I leave it on. Alot of guys were mounting the box with the fan up against the wall which was making it shit the bed. I have mine with the fan facing out.

Yo dude! I just got done following along with your video on my MK3 cab and it’s looking really great. Thanks you 👍 one question, I went through the process of mapping the controls like you showed but then when I jump into games the system seems to default to different controls for different systems/games and it loses the mapping I just put in? . After i made the video i ended up drilling a hole in the back cover of the cabinet , right where the power button is on the Arcade Box. Since i mounted the arcade box on the rear support panel, it made it easier to do so. That way i dont have to keep taking the back panel off.

Great Video i'm about to get the street fighter 35 anniversary. The only videos I have seen done have been on the Mk2 machine...will this work on any machine? Thanks
Thanks. Different machines have different connections so just make sure you have the right HDMI converter. Once you get a converter, you throw anything thats hdmi in there.
I just bought the same cabinet with the intention to modify it the same way as in this video ! Just ordered in fact the hdmi converter from aliexpress ( will take a month it says to be delivered ... ugh.. ). Thank you so much for the instructions ! The only issue that bothered me with this particular cab is that its kinda short for me ( I'm 6.2 ), so I ended up buying four metallic legs 10cm in height to raise it up a bit. One question - wouldn't it be possible to use the speakers the cabinet comes with ? They seem to have a standard speaker jack, I think so anyway.
Yes, you can use the original speakers.the pcb has a 3.5 mm jack in it as well, it has 2 of them just make sure you plug it in the right one. Theyre just not as loud.
I bought this arcade box because I watched your video. When I plugged it in the screen is white. I hooked the arcade box to the tv, so I know it works. When I connect it to arcade cabinet. The screen stays white
Steam deck i don’t know but since you’re converting it to HDMI, you can probably hook up whatever you want thats controlled by USB. Ps4, old xbox, etc.
one issue the arcade boy has a tendency to flip controls on the USB controller for sticks and stuff. Everything works decent just that part is a bit annoying.
Do you need the MKII Cabinet to do this, or can you do it with any cabinet? Also, could you make a video going through some of the games? Specifically , the MAME games. Thanks!
Sorry, i just saw this. You can do it with any cabinet as long as you get an HDMI converter that is compatible with its screen. I will make a video of the games when i get a chance to

I assume anything you can hook up with HDMI would good, like any one of those multi game consoles. Not too sure, i just saw someone do it with this one. No complaints from me at all about it
Love this video bro As a fellow dad, i have a question? I built a bartop using same joystick kit except I used the super console pro cube instead of the arcade box. Worked pretty good except it took real long for screen to pass the Emulec boot up screen. And it kept switching the joystick from player one to player two after some boot ups. Did the same thing happen to you using the the arcade box? I want to build another bartop using the arcade box if it works better and more consistent. Thanks bro. Salud 🍻

I did all the same stuff in my Simpsons cabinet, but I can't stand how it does not use the full screen properly. These arcade boxes are made to work great on a 16:9 tv. I saw that your basketball had the black bars on the sides. I was able to configure game by game to solve this if you set that basketball game to 16:9 instead of "auto" with bezels removed as you have it, it will fill the screen and look great. However, I can't find a way to do it "across the board" to have video output as a 4:3 display so it fills the screen properly - the same 16:9 setting in game like galaga stretches the screen horribly. Did you ever find a way past this?
thanks for this beautiful video, i have followed the steps and am all good, but i also have encountered some issues, i have the latest arcade1up the yoga flame one, 2 features stopped working which is the cabinet lighting and the internal speaker that comes in it, i had to buy a new speaker, if you ever going to make a new video to mod ur speakers it would be lovely instead of buying external ones, am in for another challenge as well. as for mine i have added three more button and i used a drill to make the holes more wider a bit to fit "in" the button instead of them popping out just like urs for the additional ones, and you got a subscribe
I see a few of these done to the Mortal Kombat 2 machine. Can this be done to others ? What does it depend on ? NFL Blitz? Im in the market but I'm a Blitz fan . Any help is appreciated.
I've read quite a few people saying the arcade box has packed in after a month or so. Is everyone's who has put it into their cabinets still working fine? Just bought my lad an arcade 1up for Christmas and want to put the arcade box into it.
I want to add that arcade box to my 1up, but I really don't care about the buttons. Is that needed to function with the Arcade box? I was just planning on changing the handle grip, the springs and restrictor plates. May have answered my own question by watching the rest of this video...... Well shit.
@@dadgamertv84 I also noticed you have some PC speakers in the cab, Would it be fine to use the speakers that come with the cabinet? Sorry for bombarding you, just got this thing for Christmas and already about to tear it apart. Its the Gen 3 model I think.
@chamisbeard8301 i have no clue about gen model numbers, i just made a video thats easier to follow than all the videos i watched. You can use the stock speakers, its just not as loud.
I have a question the light on the motherboard is green and the screen lights up white for about 10 seconds then the light switches to red any reason why?
I noticed the kit didnt come with a power supply{ I ordered it separately} Do i need any other cables /hardware other than the 3 items you listed? I'm pretty excited to start this, gonna take a bit to receive the arcade box.

Thanks for the video! Is there a way to use the stock controls with the arcade box you added?
If you find an hdmi converter that uses the stock connector of the control deck
Does this support RetroArch?
thanks for this beautiful video, i have followed the steps and am all good, but i also have encountered some issues, i have the latest arcade1up the yoga flame one, 2 features stopped working which is the cabinet lighting and the internal speaker that comes in it, i had to buy a new speaker, if you ever going to make a new video to mod ur speakers it would be lovely instead of buying external ones, am in for another challenge as well. as for mine i have added three more button and i used a drill to make the holes more wider a bit to fit "in" the button instead of them popping out just like urs for the additional ones, and you got a subscribe
I see a few of these done to the Mortal Kombat 2 machine. Can this be done to others ? What does it depend on ? NFL Blitz? Im in the market but I'm a Blitz fan . Any help is appreciated.
It can be done to the others. I did this so that i didnt have to buy blitz but it doesnt have blitz on there
Position the cable for buttons?
So basically you can connect any arcade fight sticks to that arcade box and play ?
Pretty much
You couldnt fit the buttons in for start on and off and the volume switch wow how do u go about turning the system on and off
I fixed all that afterwards
do you have to add the new buttons or is that optional?
Optional
This particular way of modding, using a super console, you have to change the buttons.
Is there any additional cables I need or is everything included with the buttons or already in the arcade machine?
Hdmi cable
@@dadgamertv84 hdmi to hdmi?
@Zyronox yes
Questions so machine is always on? And when changing power and volume button for select are you just changing configuration?
Yes i leave mine on BUT make sure the fan of the arcade box is facing out. Change the button mapping in the arcade box menu
I've read quite a few people saying the arcade box has packed in after a month or so. Is everyone's who has put it into their cabinets still working fine? Just bought my lad an arcade 1up for Christmas and want to put the arcade box into it.
Those people most likely installed it with the fan up against the inside wall. You gotta install it with the fan facing out
@@dadgamertv84 cheers mate. Appreciate the advice
I want to add that arcade box to my 1up, but I really don't care about the buttons. Is that needed to function with the Arcade box? I was just planning on changing the handle grip, the springs and restrictor plates. May have answered my own question by watching the rest of this video...... Well shit.
Yeah you kind of have to since the arcade box uses USB ports for controllers.
@@dadgamertv84 Welp... Im doing it! F it.
Do u have a parts list you needed????
In the description
Looking to get an arcade 1up. Is there a process for adding and removing games from the sd card?
There is, i just dont know it.
I have a question the light on the motherboard is green and the screen lights up white for about 10 seconds then the light switches to red any reason why?
Might just be loose. Make sure the board is really secure (without cracking it of course) . I had the same issue
Thank you!
I noticed the kit didnt come with a power supply{ I ordered it separately} Do i need any other cables /hardware other than the 3 items you listed? I'm pretty excited to start this, gonna take a bit to receive the arcade box.
You can use the same power supply the cab comes with. Cancel that order if you can
Sorry, i forgot to say that in the video 😏
@@dadgamertv84 its ok thank you for the reply!
Drill holes on the side, so it's like pinball, so you don't have the 2 buttons sitting on top
I already drilled the holes where the original ON/OFF & VOL switches were. I still have 2 extra buttons, i was thinking of doing the pinball buttons
You guys are playing pinball on android check this out m.facebook.com/groups/1668054633578495/permalink/1760580420992582/?m_entstream_source=group&paipv=0&eav=AfZRVqsgBwbUDMzAcAZbwdFFrDvsUrz0y_JdTs_ecVOrfLbnZTKEAivFrGHmTn1C_5U
Arcade box has 38% 1 star review (amazon). It seems like the emulator performs poorly. Any comments/update on it?
I switched it out for the Super Console X, but just like any 30,000 to 60,000 game emulator you’re gonna get 20 different versions of the same game. Its just fun to scroll through once in a while and see whats there and play for 10 minutes.
Does any one know if the hdmi adapter works on the Neo Geo MSVX arcade cabinet?
Would this work with the Killer Instinct cabinet that has 6 buttons for the characters?
The button kits come with 10 buttons for each color. So i dont see why not
