they all look either burned out tired or on the verge of adderall overdose lol but in all seriousness, they did a fantastic job this season no matter what score they received. I always had my head turned their direction in the lots and they never cease to amaze me after all these years.
...so here it is... Feb. 2020... & folks still tuning in to this video (trying to get thru wintertime) -- this snare line was so solid...love the writing in that ballad...so fierce - Crank!
Cadets getting 6th in percussion makes absolutely no sense to me. Idk what the judges were thinking. This was one of the most demanding books of any percussion section this year. And they seem to be executing it very well. I definitely would like to hear a judge's tape.
Demand isn't everything. To be honest, there are some parts of this book that are simply too difficult. It's one of the most demanding books I have seen in a while. It's very impressive, for sure, but it has to be together all the time, which it simply wasn't here.
This was the most OVERLOOKED drumline this year simply because people were so focused on the Bluecoats getting their first win, that they forgot about these guys.
Percussion was insanely competitive this year. Which is good, that means the quality of lines is getting better and better. Numbers don't always tell the whole story.
Can anybody answer these questions for me ?.....Do you visualize the colors of the notes that are being played by looking off a-far instead of looking down at the drum and how should I personally practice show music, measure by measure or what ? Finally how do I effectively practice dynamics on certain parts of the music while listening to myself and what im playing and Is it okay to count out loud on snare parts..If someone could answer these questions for me thanks.
it's for stability and balance with the instrument, the snares and basses only need one post and having a second one would be overkill and unnecessary weight. the tenors require it though, mostly due to the increased weight and the amount of notes played away from the center of balance with the drums. hope that helps, two years late lol

Carlos Hall during performances, never look down at your drum. Check your angles/hands/etc while practicing. Our techs don't like us looking at our hands during warm ups or rehearsal, but every tech is different. Take all music in chunks. Small chunks first, put them together for slightly bigger chunks. Counting out loud definitely helps the understanding of where the music correlates to your feet and the metronome. Try doing that with grids. Dynamics come from how well you control your hands for each stroke. Practice all four strokes, especially the upstroke. Apply the technique for the first note of crescendos, however rebound will help tremendously with the height increase, so stay relaxed. Hopefully I'm not TOO late and helped you out some :) keep practicing
DJ Townsend Do you currently march for anyone....Also I am 21 about to be 22 this month I know its kind of too late for me to march somewhere...I really would like to march somewhere but I don't which direction to go in....Any suggestions...Thanks
Carlos Hall BDB is one of the last groups holding auditions, who I am trying out for, but their auditions are this weekend in California. You probably have the chance to try out for a winter line next season, which gives you time to practice and get ready for all that great jazz. Good luck man!
Brendan O'Neal Where im from corpstyle drumming is foreign...It's a art I've always been amazed by but know way of knowing to get there....I have no car and honest not the money to do it...But I know I have the work ethic and personality to drum in the corp world. I'm not the best at marching but God's will I really want to work on it but I truly understand its more than about playing...You've got to be able to march....Im 21 from Macon, Ga

I’ve been thinking about that. How prevalent is adderall use in DCI?
@@fuckerikbockenstette I've marched 2 seasons, and I've never heard of anyone using it.
I think they work the hell out of their performers...
yes
@@patrickmchale4959 hahaha
Last time i was this early, collin still teched for the cadets
too soon
Who techs for them now?
Giulz Pugs
Tom Aungst
I swear that one dude never blinks
He went on to be center snare for coats in 2018. Hard to recognize him without the beard and long hair, but the Eyes stand out so much
@@danjoyce6971 damn i thought that was him. What a badass got to march cadets and coats. I think his name is zach
Eric D Gonzalez yeah his name is Zach Fitzgibbon, he’s a tech at BAC now
Also marched Scouts 2015.

2022 lol
That ping split at 5:53 is MAGIC
In the basses? They split the fivelet ping figure

I thought they were 4th in percussion? They were 6th overall

+Sabeel Khurram. 6th in percussion
Ifeanyi Ezieme they deserved 2nd in percussion
All it takes is a couple attacks not together. This book is too hard.

0:49 the guy second to the left. Do you even blink mate? Lol his eyes stare right into your soul no matter how he moves his head the eyes dont change.
Mallets for dayz Jesus, you're right
I tried to keep my eyes open with his.. either he blinked literally when I had to or he literally didn't blink that entire rep XD
He's now center snare for Bluecoats...
SO UNDER RATED 😩😩😩😩
I really dig the timbre uses from 2:10 to 2:38
How the hell did they get 6th in drums
I'm pretty they got 4th. In "percussion". The corps may have gotten 6th, though.
+John Adams cavies got fourth. Cadets still got 6tg
+Nick Fenech - How the hell did they get 6th???
+John Adams exactly

Hopkins: There's only one way to fix a 6th place drumline: fire the entire staff and get Tom Aungst to... wait, what?
TalkShowHost really all that did was prove that numbers aren’t everything, because the 2017 cadets drumline was like the cleanest battery that year
6th place, yeah right. this was remarkable. top 3 easily
I would be so giddy as a percussion writer to be able to trust Tony to play that part at 2:10 cleanly on the field like wow
Yup...thats some hard stuff.
6th in percussion?! Easily atleast top 3
Thats Zach. He was center center of Bluecoats in 2018, and i swear i think the guy marching bass 1 is the bass 2 guy from BAC 2018
1:36 the perfect buzz roll jesus
yeah facts, but also phantom 2008 was insane
I love Cadets drums

They look so on edge lmao
does anyone know where I could get the snare Wine Dark Sea part? I've tried looking at the snarescience transcriptions but no luck.
very focused group
bass drops a mallet after an epic split 1:29 ish
lol, but either way amazing work
Why do the contour hinges on the tenor carriers have two things for adjustment but snare and bass just one.

Does anyone know which sticks the snares were using at 2:10?
So has anyone named those RRLLLL's yet?
Carstarters or simply 2-4's
Glyde's (as in Dave Glyde) lol and to play them you should feel like they are "Glyde-ing" lol
Meatbeaters cuz an eggbeater is 3-2 so meatbeater is 4-2
mobiusnare just 2-4’s. Car starters are 1-4’s
bruh those tanlines on their faces😂😂
. I would probably hate my life playing this music. tbh haha
FHNSAB
MUCH better 6th place percussion than the one that placed 6th 3 years prior.
Why does the one snare look like he's on acid?
