Bass drum splits are amazing. Playing is as clean as you can get. Sounds like a single person playing each part. Noticed inconstancies in the stick heights for dynamics though. Thats something that will get you from second place to first.
@@hello-zh3jr their pit wasn’t bad by any means, their part just wasn’t as physically demanding as the other top 3 groups. Plus judges weren’t allowed on the field this year so they didn’t get as good of a read on battery as they usually do
Anyone have the deets on why the snares played behind the actual center of the head? The sound/tuning/clarity is fantastic, is this a part of it? Or does it have to do with the tension of the head for rebound?
@@rhcplax64 Did you work with Boston this year? If not, maybe stop speculating on something you may not be aware of. I highly doubt they just have “bad zones”. How do you make an 8 person snareline for a top 6 corps with “bad zones”? They had to have been taught to play that way since the whole snareline is playing in the same spot. Look at the wear on the heads, it’s consistent. I’m looking for an actual answer, not speculation.
@@FOSSIL13drums Well I know the folks on the staff, so it’s not speculation, friend. The pearl harnesses seem to push the drum farther away, and some of them never adjusted. And it’s pretty common to not have great zones if it’s ingrained in your muscle memory, even in a top 6 drum corps. Musicians have tendencies, and they only lessen with experience. Also, the wear patterns are not consistent across the line, take another look (both when they’re at the guts and when playing in the center). Are there some that are consistently behind the center? Yes, but the staff certainly never defined it to be that way. Didn’t realize I would be expected to cite my sources
