    I am using the Brevida after trying other nasal masks and I love it. It is soft, quiet and very comfortable. When I first started using nasal masks I had a little irritation. (The Resmed Airfit P10 actually made a sore after only two nights.) I bought lanolin cream, apply it sparingly just before putting my mask on and it works wonders. I sleep great, the head gear stays in place and I've had no problems whatsover with the tubing.

      Hi Kathie! Sorry, I know your comment/post is from 3 years ago on LeftyLanky27...I hate to bother you with a question about CPAP stuff...but how long does your cushion silicone nose piece last on the Brevida by Fisher & Paykel? I just received mine and just wondered how long the cushion lasts (2 weeks? 1...2 months ,...3...or more?) The instruction insert doesn't recommend how often to replace stuff. Barring any cracks, damages or leaks...and if all is properly cleaned and used normally.... again, I was just wondering how often the actual silicone nasal cushion needs to be replaced? Thanks Kathie. 😊

    I've been using the Brevida for 7 months now. I love this mask. I am a heavy side sleeper and this gives me absolutely no leak issues. It's quiet. It's comfortable (though this is the first nasal cushion mask I ever stuck with. I did have some slightly sore nostrils for a little over a week, but not that bad. that went away) It doesn't blast my partner with air. I find that compared to other masks, I do not need to crank this tight on my face to avoid leaks. In fact, this is probably the loosest fitting mask I've used. Only time I get leaks is if my hose gets stuck above my head and pulls upward on it. Only improvement I'd like to see on this is the swivel could be a bit smoother working. The filter thingy is great, but sometimes pops off (rarely, but it happens). The noise Jason was getting sometimes happens when a little water buildup on the expiration vent, or if you take the cushion on and off frequently and pull it off the wrong way it will loose the seal around the plastic part. If you follow the instructions and pull from the blue area, this never happens though. I wash it attached to the mask. I think this is worth a try for side sleepers. I love this mask!

    My husband was so excited to get this mask. He finally got it and he hates it. It makes the inside of his nose very sore, he can't get it to fit properly and it leaks all night. I wish I would have seen this before he switched from the nasal mask to the pillows. Thanks for your review.

    Hey man! Love your products and reviews. Your awesome. I'm a respiratory therapist in New Brunswick Canada and own my own OSA & home oxygen clinic. I completely agree with your review from start to finish. I use the simplus all the time but I feel the brevida fell short for me. I trialled it on a numerous amount of nasal pillow mask lovers and It appealed to a total of 0 patients. I had complaints of seal issues, burning sensation in nares - the list goes on. Rock on man. Take care - matt walton

    I like the Brevida for quietness. I also have Pilairo Q. The grey filter does make a difference and I like the extra hose, I also cover my hose and as I am a side sleeper, Brevida has worked great with the addition of heated hose...I did have the dryness too and after trying everything I could, I went to a heated hose and solved all the issues. Mask Bright is awesome!

    I got this and wore it 3 nights. That was all i could do. The 'udders' sticking inside my nostrils seemed to collapse or something. Mine also made a bad squeeking noise. My level is 13. I went back and got the Dreamwear (not the one with the things sticking in your nose but the other) and its sooooooooo much better. I love the Dreamwear. Will never stop using it!

    The Brevida is one of my favorite masks, but it isn't perfect. The mask is fine as long as I'm on my back, but when I turn on either side, it moves slightly when against my pillow, then there are mask leaks. I've had it for a month or so and will keep it for a backup. It's nice and small for travel.
    I recently tried one of my husband's dreamwear frames with both a cradle and a pillow. The pillow is my favorite.....works well for me. I'm really not sure how to decide on the size of the DW frame, so I can let my provider know my preference.

    I was diagnosed with sleep apnea back in June. This mask is the first one I used with my apap. I have since moved to a bilevel. I wish I gave it more of a chance. I tried it for 5 days and went back to get a full face mask. I may go back to it eventually. I sometimes have trouble breathing through my nose. Before I started treatment I always have some type of cold or a really runny nose. Now that's pretty much a thing of the past. I love the channel and the forum. Keep up the good work.

    • @monicaharper9107
      @monicaharper9107 6 лет назад +1

      I have the same problem as you. Every time I lie down my nose blocks and I can't breath unless the starting pressure of my APAP is set on 9cm of water pressure. When set on 9, the air pressure clears the nasal blockage pushing through the mucous and I am then able to breath through a nasal pillow. I cannot start with a lower pressure because the blockage of mucous prevents me from breathing.

    I have fat cheeks and a big nose.. So I couldn't get a good fit using a nasal mask.
    Moving to the brevida has been a huge improvement, I find the fit of this mask is better than any others I've used. The inflatable bladder makes the fit perfect around my nose and cheeks.
    The only thing I don't like is the head gear. The angles of the straps feel awkward. But I'll put up with that for a great fit on the nose.

    I've used this for a couple of months and it is much more comfortable for me than the P10. I guess what is good for one may not be for another and trial an error is really the only way to find out. This is an intrinsic problem with these reviews. The cones are comfortable and soft but can invert when you move the mask around in bed. It is hard to right them unless you disconnect the pillow and push them out.

    I have 2 of these, one at home one at the cottage... i think they work great. Pillows alone always seemed to dislodge from my nose, this does not... only draw back on these is that the nasal tube thingies ca collapse and cause a reduction in airflow and an increase in noise... Which leads me to remove it to fix it in the middle of the night and thus waking my wife...

  • @MrGeoffNYC
    @MrGeoffNYC 7 лет назад +5

    Love the channel, forum, and your videos...but don't agree with the review. I think you kind of missed the point of the diffuser on the Brevida. It's not to quiet the mask generally, but to prevent the direct stream of air that creates noise and problems for bed partners - and that happens to be the biggest downfall of the Dreamwear (pillow and nasal). For me, the P10 pillows are less comfortable and louder (tried all sizes) than the Brevida setup. That's why for me, although far from perfect, the Brevida has become my go-to mask and inched passed the P10 and Dreamwear. If only the Dreamwear would diffuse that hurricane that shoots out....

    • @Freecpapadvice
      @Freecpapadvice  7 лет назад +2

      You are correct. That is the point of diffusers. For purposes of the review there is more of a concern with how much noise masks make and less so about jets of air that may hit their sleep partner. One some masks I will mention these jets of air if they are excessive. The Brevida doesn't do this even with the diffuser off, so it wasn't really mentioned.

    • @robmorin
      @robmorin 4 года назад +1

      With this diffuser i can spoon my wife, without it, I cannot... as she complains its "windy" so its a plus for me and my wife.... :)

I get really good numbers with my Eson nose mask. My Resmed F10 sends me into frustration instead of sleep. Both make me feel overheated and claustrophobic. My nose does get irritated on the sides but a nasal mask caused my whole nose to bleed and I woke up one night and was so stuffed up had to take it off. If you took this mask with the small nasal pillows and used the pilairio head gear to keep it in place you would have the perfect mask I think.
    Looked to your web site all the time for your opinion and now I wont be doing that anymore. As for the color to put things together I dont think it such a bad thing. I have had a few masks that were very hard to put back together.
