      If you're looking at the wires, I have two sport elite 2.0, and then bought a sport elite 3.0. they both do exactly the same programs but the 3.0 display is improved, the device itself is a little smaller and it's enclosed in a rubber protective cover. It uses USB charging now, now the round plug like devices used to use a decade ago. But again, they both have wires, and they both function the same. If you want to go without wires, the mini has more limited use than the larger units wired or wireless. If you're considering the more expensive larger wireless version, note that it also has a few less programs than the sport elite two or three. Review what the programs do and decide if that's okay for you. The last time I looked on the Compex website, about 4 months ago they had a table comparing what features are on each EMS unit. But you still might need to dig into the manual or at least the website descriptions of the programs on a specific machine. If a machine has the same program, they work the same even if they're on the mini wireless. Note that the power levels might go higher, greater stimulation, on some of the units than others. Unless you're a high performing athlete or physical fitness enthusiast, you might never use the highest stimulation levels.

    One of his main gripes, that the wireless units fall off is easily solved by using electrode wraps.

    • @BrandonTalbot
      @BrandonTalbot  Год назад +1

      Yes and no. Most, not all, electrode wraps loosen and or fall off while doing any type of dynamic movements. I used my own ace bandages, Compex brand wraps, compression latex wraps etc… the ace bandage material is the only stuff that mostly works. It’s not perfect but it’s better than the alternative. Still not as good as the wired alternative though imo

    Great video. I am not completely new to Compex. I used to have a very early version something like 20 years ago when I was still living in Italy (now I live in USA). I am currently looking to get a Compex because last week I tore my ACL skiing. In preparation for the surgery, I really want to potentiate my leg and create muscle memory (it will help post surgery to gain back mass faster). Because of the injury I cannot use the leg extension. Would you consider the sport elite a viable option for my specific needs? (I know you are not a physical therapist, but essentially I would like to understand if the potentiation program of the sport elite really works). Thanks

    • @BrandonTalbot
      @BrandonTalbot  Год назад +1

      Potentiation works. But I’m not sure if what you are looking for is actually potentiation: It essentially warms up the different muscle fiber types (Slow > Fast) in a sequence.

Do all these devices have low rate and a high rate setting, I have heard low rate helps with recovery and repairing damaged muscles better, if I am incorrect please feel free to correct me. I have to say that you are off on your review of the wireless unit. First of all doing jumping or any kind of explosive exercise using muscle stim, is probably a bad idea. For isometric, strength, training or strength training with movement like a squat or bench press it works fine. I’ve had mine for over 10 years, I bought the international model in Europe, and it works outstanding. Not having wires is super convenient. #IMHO

    • @BrandonTalbot
      @BrandonTalbot  6 месяцев назад +1

      I appreciate the comment, and I'd agree with you that in those use cases having no wires is convenient. But It IS beneficial to be able to do explosive movements, to say that the other types of training is all you need and omitting other types of training "is fine" is...well...ignorant. That's where there are settings specifically for that type of training. So it's certainly not a bad thing, just something you wouldn't do.
