All I know is, back in my college football days, the TENS unit coupled with either a heating pad or ice massage removed swelling from my lower quads that was so bad I could barely walk. I'd go into the training room after bumping knees with one of the offensive linemen double blocking me and assume that I wouldn't be able to practice for a week. Twenty minutes later I was almost brand new, which was a bummer when I was looking forward to being lazy that day.
I had a hip replacement done 8 months ago. They didn’t tell me that trochanteric bursitis is a complication of the surgery. I’ve always been incredibly active. Now I can barely lie on my right side. Since I used to be physical therapy aid, I already knew about the wonders of tens therapy. I use it several times daily. The relief is immediate. Better than ice, lidocaine patches and voltaren gel. I also eat an anti inflammatory diet. Sugar and dairy are super bad and cause inflammation. I exercise as well, mostly swimming.

I have a client with rheumatoid arthritis. Some days she can do things, other days not so much. I’m looking to get her some EMS relief for after training and on her bad days when moving is unbearable. Would you say this is a good idea??
Can my Compex help with patellar tendinitis? If so, how do I place the pads for that kind of pain? I've looked online for a lot of sources and even the compex RUclips channel, but still can't find any information. Thank you!
If it's really tendonitis it would only help with pain in the short term and not enough to fix the cause of it (often a load related issue). So I usually don't recommend TENS for those types of injuries.
Is this something you could take every time you go to the gym or only for muscle / injury recovery? Can you overstimulate the muscle with the low rate tens, if you do it 30mins every day?
Yes - I use my MarcPro after every day of training. It's basically like adding in a quick active recovery session (like a quick walk or riding a bike) but less stressful on the body.
Hi what do you think about tens for tendonitis? I have had bad bicep tendonitis which gives tennis and golfers elbow would these type of devices help with recovery?
no it will not. TENS only provide temporary pain relief. there are numerous videos showing you how to solve tennis/golfers elbow. it will take time to heal.
I had a herniated disc and lost any contraction or feeling in the lateral triceps on my right arm, i know this wont fix nerve damage, but i was still wondering is it possible to target only the lateral head with any of these devices, while i wait for physio and control to see if i'm getting surgery?
@@Bodz2023 Still the same with no feeling in the lateral tricep, the other heads work, still waiting for the control in about 2 months. I did get most of the gym strength back considering i couldn't litearlly do 1 pullup or pushup when it happened ( i don't know why i couldn't do pullups beacuse of the triceps , maybe somehting else was damaged but way less, so it got to heal properly) . I don't think my triceps will get sensation considering it's been 7 months now, and when i do triceps extensions i get 3-4 more reps on the healthy left arm when doing 10-15, I don't feel the difference that much on pressing motions until like the last GRIND rep.

NMES is just another term for EMS. IFC, NMES and TENS are used for different things.
Is this the same as a firefly?
Surgery on a bone, is tens device suitable? As I’m Thinking of all the muscles affected around the bone post surgery?
No it will not. TENS only provide temporary pain relief. You need to follow the advice from your doctor.
What about a NMES device? How are they different and does NMES have a place in recovery and pain relief?
TENS provide temporary pain relief. NMES aka EMS can possibly help with recovery, depending on what condition your have.
Would you recommend for mild tennis/golfers elbow?
there are lots of videos that tell you how to fix tennis/golfers elbow
I put a tens device on my nipples and turned it to 30
What about H-wave?
What is your take on the Compex? Compex does offer low frequency twitches yet with no muscle contraction on the "Competition Recovery/Recovery Plus" setting. Is it preferable to have muscle contraction vs low frequency twitches? Thank you.
Also interested in this. I received a compex fit 1.0 today from my physiotherapist
@@loko8045 you should have asked your physiotherapist.
I have a client with rheumatoid arthritis. Some days she can do things, other days not so much. I’m looking to get her some EMS relief for after training and on her bad days when moving is unbearable. Would you say this is a good idea??
TENS/EMS will not work on any form of arthritis. Essential oils work on all type of arthritis.
Would the Marc be useful for this too?
I'm litterally going through the same thing but on my left side. How are you now?
But isn't swelling supposed to be good ? Why would one want to decrease it with TENS ?
Inflammation is good - swelling on the other hand if left to sit in a joint can be bad.
Can you place this on your belly to burn belly fat while your sitting down?
no
Doc, are yiu rich? The low rate EMS unit you mentioned is hundreds of dollars to over 1 grand. I’d love a low rate EMS device for occasional home use. Do you know of any other units?
there is no such thing as high rate or low rate tens. he just made it up.
Is power dot not compensated by Insurance?
the powerdot is very expensive, so it might not be covered. there are TENS/EMS machines that cost $50-$100 that will be covered by insurance, but that will depend on which insurance policy/company you are on.
Can this be used for elbow pain (golfers elbows)?
no
Wich model? Looks way more robust then the shitty amazon models
How do I tell if my unit has low rate tens? Or how do I put it into that mode?
low rate and high rate are just terms he made up. there is no such thing
