  • It’s the first Tuesday of the month and that means it’s time for another MAF test. After three months of incredible improvements, would Neil’s next test continue the rapid rise in pace or is there some pitfalls ahead.
There was a weekend of high mileage prior to this test and Neil was concerned it might skew the test results. Was he right?
What now after four and a half month of running with the Maffetone method. Will Neil stick to this way of running?
With a debut 100k race looming will MAF holds its place in preparation for this ultra marathon?
This MAF test appears to raise many questions about the future of Neil’s running. What direction will he take?
    Hope you enjoy this video.

Really enjoying your channel. I have been really thinking about starting using MAF but wasn’t sure about it. You are the second RUclips person I follow that is doing MAF and it seems to be working great for both of you. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching Joe. I had reservations about MAF at first, but coming back from injury I thought I'd give it a go. Glad I did. It has worked a treat for me. Now looking at how to get faster using the MAF. I'd say give it a go. You need to stick with it for a few months to see if it works for you, consistency is key I believe. All the best with it. Happy running.

Wouldn't say plateaued as much as held remarkably steady over a month despite putting your body through 50k race, uneven recovery afterwards and Sunday's possible dehydration. No reason not to get back to steady improvement from steady training.

Thanks jl. Tend to be a bit hard on myself when things don't go well, but you're spot on. Plan to stick with MAF, but might tinker with it and have a bit of fun mixing it up. Thanks for watching. Happy running.

I run pace 5min/km with HR 150 , how can people run pace 4 with so low HR ?

Hi Khanh. Frustrating I know, but it takes time to train the body in this aerobic state. These people also might be doing blocks of speed training as well. There are a lot of different aspects than can go into the MAF to achieve the quicker pace. Stick with it.
