I like doing my speed sessions on the treadmill with zwift. I love it so much. I love the structure and I love that I set the pace and have to keep up, or else I'll fly off the back 😂 I can't stand running circles around a track, and I find concrete a bit too hard on my bones for fast running. It works for me, but i understand others might not enjoy it.

Everyone is different, and you have to do what works best for you. 👍

Like or prefer it or not, I've been self-coached and certainly trained alone for the majority of the past 40 years. The main reason is convenience. Even if I could overcome that, there are not many I know who are willing to train consistently or in the same way. I have also felt that for the quality to be best suited for me I've got to be able to manage the pace/effort/time, where training with someone faster or slower is subpar for the slower runner and potentially puts them at risk pushing too hard. As I am getting older, my aims and goals have drastically changed and I would be more open to running with others and less concerned about specific training targets, but now my challenge is consistency and new physical challenges. Keep running...

Thanks for sharing. Running in a group is great. But if their paces or program don't align with you, it can be difficult. At the end of the day, you have to do what's best for you. Take care. 👍

I really like this answer. Training solo allows you to hit the best paces for you, not for someone else 🫡

Winter is a struggle for motivation. Group runs or running with someone which planned makes a difference.

Yep. When it's cold and you have arranged to meet someone or join a group. that certainly helps the motivation.

Personally I do all of my running solo. I play group sports for the social aspect so running is just for me.

Thanks for sharing. I played a lot of group sports too. Sometimes, it's great to just run on your own.👍

Lone runner here Neil. Doing shift work lends itself to not being part of a running community. May be that will change when I get off shift work soon.

Hi Alan. Yeah, work plays a big part in when we can run. Sometimes, you don't have the choice but to run solo. 👍

Definitely alone, although I'd like to try more group runs.

Both have their benefits. Sometimes, I like to run solo just to unwind and gather my thoughts. Other times, it's great to interact with other runners. 👍

I am not here to give advice. Just to share an idea. Wake up one day, go stand in front of the mirror, and finish this sentence with 100% honesty......I run because......................

Great advice, mate. It's taken a while, but I think I know where I'm at now.👍

Hi Woody, I'm lacking a bit of motivation because of injury,it's getting me down. Do you still get your knee pain? If so how do you get through your runs with that pain. Cheers mate

Injuries are never great, and motivation takes a real hit. Knee pain is under control now, but got to keep on top of maintenance. If it flares up, take some rest days or just dial it back to super easy running. Running on the grass helps to lessen the impact too. 👍
