    As others already said most of the european magazines and/or exhaust manufacturers measured about 138-141 hp at the wheel and mostly about ~155 hp at the clutch so something about this exhaust might be wrong..
    Straight Piping an engine that is developed to perform with two giant catalysts below that generate a remarkable amount of back pressure can go wrong. I'd go for a Yoshi/Arrow/Akra Full System…

    Chris, after tuning with the baffle removed, will the bike run slightly richer with it then replaced ? Also, does this apply in reverse, i.e., if a bike is dynoed with the baffle in place, will it run lean if the baffle is later removed ? I have an SV thou which has an exhaust collector that's so pancake flat in appearance, that baffle in or out makes no difference to spark plug condition, although the bike definitely feels less 'fluffy' in town with the baffle removed. Been that way for 15 years and hasn't melted any valves, whatever !

    Found this: New camshaft profiles decrease lift and valve overlap not only to improve emissions, but balance the engine’s performance and drivability, enhancing rider control. That's why the top end it so low me thinks. 🤨

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 года назад +2

      "....but balance the engine’s performance and drivability"
      That's marketing-speak for "we de-tuned it to please environmental regulators, and programmed the ECU to make this de-tuning function properly for the rider"
      If Euro-5 is so bad that Suzuki is forced to either increase engine displacement to keep/increase horsepower, or simply detune the engine, reducing horsepower and meet Euro-5 compliance, I think Suzuki being a small motorcycle manufacturer that doesn't have a ton of money to reconfigure an engine is going to take the easy way.
      Meanwhile Aprilia, Yamaha, KTM, Ducati, Triumph and others are bumping up displacement to maintain or increase horsepower while meeting Euro-5.
      I hate environmental regulations, as their purpose for existence is 98% a lie.

I added a dynojet commander, heath F1 light eliminator, cut out my catalytic and placed a straight pipe along with an MP4 muffler, which is ice and loud, but saves my life when splitting cars . The bike still has a flat spot at low end which is dangerous when out street racing. they cannot legally performance dyno out in this state, so I need to take it to AZ to have it dyno and mapped to get rid of that low end. any suggestions? i noticed your dyno machine is from dyno-jet! I wish it had been stone stock, those numbers are quite low baseline. Looking forward to seeing the GT tune and results. Suzuki did change the cams to help the midrange along with quite a few other new engine parts. From Rider Magazine: New camshaft profiles, valve springs, throttle bodies, and airbox, and a revised 4-2-1 exhaust contribute to a 2-hp bump in peak power, a broader, smoother torque curve, and Euro 5 emissions compliance. On Jett Tuning's dyno, the GSX-S1000 sent 136 hp and 73 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheel.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 2 года назад

      +2 peak power would put this bike at north of 150 wheel, if we are comparing to the ultimate ability of the engine compared to last-gen settings. I think the CS Racing is really choking it down, but I just don't see it being 10hp less than possible.

Did you check the airbox and see what type of filter he was running. I had a K&N filter on my 2016 and it was holding the bike back with your flash. I popped a BMC race filter in and the bike feels like it's pulling much harder. That K&N for the GSXS has a weird design. Would be interesting to see if you get the amazing K5 broad power band and unlocked HP. Back in the day Superstock road race bikes were making over 190HP. @@Jason.cbr1000rr Because torque on a 600 and 750 run about 45 to 55 ft-lb max. These big displacement engines (relatively big) run 75-80 ft-lb. That's a lot more snort at lower rpm to shove you forward without the need to wait for the engine to scream.
      As an example, I took a 1250 Bandit out on a demo years ago. Before that tach hit 4,000 rpm that engine was SHOVING HARD, felt like the torque was bottomless, like I could twist that grip as far as I wanted and it would still shove harder, regardless of how relaxed the engine sounded.

      Full throttle by wire allows quickshifter up/down, which by all reports looks to be better than European brands for smoothness and precision. Lots of people whine about the lack of cruise control. Throttle by wire allows for cruise, so don't be upset about Suzuki going this route. Also makes it easier for shops to tune everything in great detail with TBW. Analogue vs TBW isn't where power is being sapped. It's the ECU, probably milder cams, and exhaust system not flowing very well.
