Chris thanks for describing and showing us what you do inside the ECU, there are a lot of tuners that keep that stuff secret. Got my first mail in flash from you about a month ago and you have a customer for life. Very happy with the results and quick turnaround! Edit: Chris I think it would be very interesting if you could do a video on your story, how you got into bikes, racing, the ups, the downs, to where you are now.
These sport tourers like this and the Ninja 1000SX are limited by gearing and a governor. The 1000SX with exhaust/tune and longer gearing can hit 170 as well. Personally a big fan of these sportier sport tourers compared to a lot of the modern tourers which are basically ADV bikes with cast 17’s (looking at you Versys). I like having a little forward lean, and these style bikes feel a little better in a corner.
These videos are great. It would be even better and a good selling point if you recorded the owner's reaction after they went for a quick rip up the street. The Wow factor :)
Im a west coast rider.. don't be surprised to have my bike show up at your place someday...you are the best...and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us...
Scotland here! So as a non essential mode of transport its 6 month riding season and 6 month off the road tucked away in garage give or take a few random decent riding days .. I have the gsxs1000gt+ at present with a sprint filter and the healtech bypass plug to keep servo fully open but not that much of a difference from stock actually!! But suppose it is ready for a header swap..... Pops and burbles for me every day of the week as i feel the bike has an identity crisis when revved hard.... Its induction gnarl on the upper rev range is trying to overcome the sound of an industrial sewing machine. My main reason for tuning is for a bit better midrange if possible but mainly for a deeper sound and burble with a couple of pops. Also smoothing out some of the mid range vibrations would be a bonus for my numb gonads So i plan arrow headers as a decent enough budget system that still has the balancing pipes and to allow cat removal for the pops and burbles. I like the stock tail pipe and it still has a staggered straight through so is very minimally different from any other straight tail pipe ( exept one with a db killer helpfull to tone it down a wee bit if going on a long weekend tour or something). And the stock exhaust hopefully still has the correct angle to stop my right hand side plasic hard case from melting. Further to this, whilst fidgeting for things to do in the off season , instead of the marble mod i could probably fashion a remote shut off valve to enable or disable the pair valve on the fly to turn on/off the pops and bangs? At this time I would probably be sending my ecu from UK to moore mafia with my requirements and trusting the bench flash / rather than the dyno flash, to be pretty much spot on to mainly bring my a/f ratio into a safer figure to help with long term lean ( hotter) running back to a safer range. Hey does this sound sensible or have i missed the mark somewhere?? Bikes in for warranty getting valve clearances done when its back its fair game. ...coming to end of this season so be off the road soon for enhancement. Edit: just to add on our roads , im not all that bothered about top end speed or horsepower. The midrange pull is where i would benefit in everyday use.
Love the M4 exhaust but I am a little biased as that is what I'm running on my S1000...those gains seem to be a little low for the M4 but that may be due to the tire also. When I had mine tuned it woke the bike up tremendously and turned it into a beast.
Looks like Chris is right, he can't get nearly the hp out of the new gsx-s as he can these old(er) models. He suggested cans might be smaller, etc. Solid bikes but I'll take my mt10 any day.
