Mrs. B, Please give grits another try. If you add just the right amount of salt and butter it will taste so much better and not be bland. And what will top this is if you add cheddar cheese and bacon crumbs to hot grits.
@@jbinthehills I live in Washington State.I have been to Pittsburgh. Then traveled to the OuterBanks.Ate at a Bob Evans. That was a pretty good breakfast.
From an old southern boy, if you don't know how to make grits they are going to be bland. You must put approx. 3 talbespoons of salt in the water (using a standard size pot), bring it to a boil, and then add the grits. If you don't salt the water before you boil the grits, they will never "take" the salt afterwards. Thus, bland. :)

This is the place my husband and I will go to whenever we go to Lancaster. Their eggs are so fresh and the scrapple is so good. We've been coming here for years. It used to be a lot smaller, they didn't have all the back part. We have gotten up atc4am to get there for an early breakfast at 7, then spent the day. We're in Northern Virginia so it's a nice easy drive Thanks for posting.
Oh now that all looks so good, and those donuts look so light and fluffy just like I remember, yes I went to that restaurant I believe when we were in that area, sure wish I could go again. By the way we have horrid donuts in California, they're all heavy and greasy, there is nothing worse than taking a bite and ending with a grease covered mouth. My late husband always got the "scrapple" when we went places where it was available, I could eat it, but it wasn't a favorite. I wasn't surprised to see that you got the ham, isn't that your favorite? I'm always hungry after I watch your video's, it's just past lunch time here and I had leftover chicken pot pie for my breakfast, so I didn't fill up (it was a little bit), now I want a real breakfast. Thanks for sharing your time at breakfast with us.
I have been visting that area since I was a child. The hotel at Bird in Hand was only the front row of rooms then, no resort. The restaurant has been a favorite for many years.
Everything looked so good at that buffet. Nice to see that they keep it hot too. We have eaten lunch there but it was years ago. I am not a fan of grits either. The only way I eat them is with a little butter and sugar at Cracker Barrell. I grew up eating Cream of Wheat so I treat grits as if I am eating Cream of Wheat.
I just came across your video while surfing through many other country side restaurants......... this is exactly the same place I had been looking for but couldn't remember the name of it! Great job! I've never had breakfast here, but i'll have to try it next time! If you cook some grits and then put them in a bread pan and refrigerate over night.
