You must come back to Lancaster County, you missed the best sticky bun and cinnamon bread with or without raisins and other specialty breads. On 896 just a couple miles outside of Strasburg. Michael's Home style Breads. Also the most photographed scenery, you can see all the way to Welsh Mountainside.
😱 no way! I’m actually from Lebanon county so I’ll definitely be back! But I haven’t heard of those sticky buns. I’ll have to try them next time I visit home 😍
Thank you for including our pretzel bakery in your travels! I wish I had been there to meet you. We love Green Dragon as well. So many desserts😄 -Chrissy
I think my dad eats more Martin’s Pretzels than anyone! 😅🤣 and it was so funny because my boyfriend tried them for the first time when he came to visit PA a couple weeks before this video and he LOVES them too! 😍🥨 thanks for making great pretzels 🥰🥰
@@NataliesPassport That's great!😄 So many customers tell us they have been eating them for years. We will keep on trying to supply everyone with the good old-fashion taste!
@@serjunserjun1518 Aww I can say the opposite after growing up around this area then moving to Bangkok 😜 culture shock is real! But Bangkok now feels more like home than where I grew up! Hopefully Seattle will grow on you the same way!
Wonderful watching you show so much information, I`m always interested in any thing to do with the Amish, as we don`t have them in the UK, Amish quilts are amazing & I would love to try there food.
Just watch briefly but enjoyed it much---my wife just watched it from start to finish. We are not Amish but love them, and Menonites, very much! Thx for very educational video.
Watching your trip to the Lancaster county brought back the memories of living in central Pennsylvania for me (I studied at Penn State). Passed through the area on my trips from State College to Philadelphia. Those country roads still look beautiful after so many years.
Awww so cool!! I grew up in central PA playing in corn fields as a child 😅 I feel like I appreciate it more now that I’m older and don’t live there anymore 🙈🤣❤️
Yes!!!! We actually wanted to go there when we left the Amish house, but when we showed up it was sooooooo busy!!!! So cool you visit central PA all the way from Jersey 🥰
Nooo! Shady Maple is ultra touristy and thrives on bus tours and souvenirs for tourists. Katie's Kitchen on Hartman's Bridge Road( 896 south of Rte 30) is the real thing. Amish owned and run. Delicious!
I live in Philadelphia only 1 1/2 hours from Lancaster PA , and never knew of that market. I have heard of the Amish house tour, however, I have never went there either. What is the name of the market that you went to in this video? I would love to go out there on a Friday.
😅😅😅 it’s definitely a very interesting culture! I grew up with Amish people living really close to me (as well as Mennonites) so I guess maybe I’m more used to it than most people 😅
They are not the traditional Amish 🙂 I'm not saying they are not Amish just they have decided to step away from the traditional living. For those that don't know, there are several branches of Amish. Also they do not like photos or videos of them as they feel it's breaking God's commandment of engraved images. At least that is what I was told. I have ancestors on one side of my family that are Pennsylvania Dutch and I love learning about them.
Yesss - there are different types of Amish. The swartzentrubers are the most strict ones. But these ones were definitely still Amish. I spent the first 18 years of my life with Mennonite neighbors and tons of Amish like 10 minutes away - even this family lived less than an hour from my parents house. I highly doubted that ‘real’ Amish would allow people to stay at their house, but the man had an injury which stopped him from working - I think that’s why he’s allowed to let people stay. When we asked about pictures and that he said they won’t pose for any pictures, but if we take pictures as they’re working, etc it’s okay (again I think that was his personal decision as he has met so many English people and had so many people stay at his house that I’m sure have asked if they could take photos). Overall it was a really enlightening experience that I definitely recommend if you’re in the area!!
From an Amish guy: you guys really have no clue... Those were some of the plainer Amish and a lot of us here in dauphin county have solar electric all through the house and most of us have cell phones. A lot of the things you hear aren't true
NO THANKS!! Lived around the Amish and Their "CULT CULTURE"!! The Things That Go On in Their Lives are HORRIFIC!! Everything That Glitters Is NOT GOLD!!
I’ve also lived really close to the Amish for the first 18 years of my life. I never said it ‘glittered’, but it’s still super interesting to learn about!

It’s called Green Dragon! It’s been around a long time - the first time I went was in high school over 10 years ago 🙈😅
The difference is Amish drive gray buggies the Mennonite’s have black buggies
I didn’t know that until this video 😱
Very interesting and informative🤗🇭🇷

Did they fry them in lye? Or brush them in lye I forgot but my grandma had a pretzel factory there

What do the Amish charge a night with dinner and breakfast?

You're painting them with a wide brush as if all Amish households and individuals are the exact same. It just shows how bigoted you are.
Natalie talks so fast I can’t keep up with her she talks to much Charles can’t get a word in 😮
Sorry you couldn’t keep up 😬
Did they show you how to oppress women and run puppy mills, amongst other things? People love cults for some reason.
Negative. There’s a big different between ‘loving cults’ and being interested in learning about unique cultures. But to each their own 🤷♀️
Cruelty to animals. It's not a good idea to have a horse work so hard to have to pull a cart and people that is cruel!!!!😢
