When we started planning a trip to my hometown in Central Pennsylvania, one thing we really wanted to do was learn more about the Amish. I grew up close to the Amish my whole life so I knew the general things like they used horse and buggies instead of cars and couldn't have electricity. However, we wanted to know more. And in this USA Travel Vlog we do just that!
We spent days searching for an Amish homestay - somewhere you could actually live with the Amish and interact with them. We found some that offered Amish homes, however you stayed there by yourself. We found more that were obviously not real Amish as they had electricity. Then we eventually stumbled upon one Amish Homestay that seemed it could be authentic. We decided to book it for two nights and document our experience to see how authentic it actually was.
On our Amish adventure weekend we went to Lancaster Pennsylvania - the heart of Amish Country Pennsylvania. We started at The Amish Village - a kind of museum about the Amish. We decided to do the Amish farmhouse tour where they take you through their old Amish house from 1840 and give you lots of information about the Amish. After the house you can walk around the rest of the 'village' which has a barn, an Amish one room schoolhouse, an Amish store, buggies, and more. It was a great place to start our day and we learned a lot, even though there were no actual Amish people there. After the Amish Village, we drove to our Amish homestay. We were greeted by the Amish couple and shown around the house. We were surprised at how authentic of an experience it was! The couple is indeed Amish with no electricity, no cars, a line phone in a booth outside of the house. Typically Amish don't take pictures, which they agreed with in saying they wouldn't pose for any pictures. However they didn't mind if we took pictures/videos that they happened to be in. For that reason a lot of the video is us explaining our time there as opposed to them talking (to respect their privacy). The highlights of the trip were definitely the home cooked Amish dinner, learning to play shuffleboard, and going on a real Amish horse and buggy ride!!! This was such an amazing experience that we definitely recommend to anyone interested in learning more about the Amish way of life.

Just watch briefly but enjoyed it much---my wife just watched it from start to finish. We are not Amish but love them, and Menonites, very much! Thx for very educational video.
Very Beautiful village
It was fun to visit 🥰
You must come back to Lancaster County, you missed the best sticky bun and cinnamon bread with or without raisins and other specialty breads. On 896 just a couple miles outside of Strasburg. Michael's Home style Breads. Also the most photographed scenery, you can see all the way to Welsh Mountainside.
😱 no way! I’m actually from Lebanon county so I’ll definitely be back! But I haven’t heard of those sticky buns. I’ll have to try them next time I visit home 😍

@@NataliesPassport I just left Thailand for the first time in my life. I was shocked by the vastness of this place 😅😅😅
@@serjunserjun1518 Aww I can say the opposite after growing up around this area then moving to Bangkok 😜 culture shock is real! But Bangkok now feels more like home than where I grew up! Hopefully Seattle will grow on you the same way!
