Thanks it’s nice that I can save money and fix it. By doing that it makes me understand more how the harness works Thanks for watching

Wow, total labor of love. If the metal in the stranded wire itself is not corroded it should work well, otherwise there could be complications.

Yes the wires are very nice even though the wires were bleached by the sun. Very surprised! No cracks in most of them and still flexible. I cut back and splice any questionable wires and replaced with wires from the harness I got from eBay. The PVC tubing was bad in a lot of places so I will replaced most of it. That PVC stuff really saved most of the harness Thanks for watching and sharing

Hi, I am doing a 63 that is currently in the same place that yours is...shell, ready for paint and next steps. Are the 2 holes for the license plate light unit, and plates go below it?? Holes were covered on mine.
    Cheers!

The 63 T6 has the license plates lights on the bumper. I’m positive that it’s the original panel because how it was welded to the body. I’m going to have to get the factory build sheet to see what country it was originally delivered or anything added to it . Europe plates are more narrow than US ones and holes are probably are in right location for that. It was probably bought by someone station in the service and shipped to the US. I did a original owner 912 that was station in the Air Force in England and had it shipped to the states Thanks for viewing

I would make a new harness if it were me. German cars and electrical was never their strong suit. You will be chasing gremlins in the future. My 2 cents

I agree with your comments. I usually replace the harness on any car I build. Unfortunately the price of a new correct harness is $2500 and up. After knowing that I was willing to fix what I have. After disassembling it and cleaning it I found that it wasn’t horrible as I thought it would be. I did a 1971 Panthera and that harness was a nightmare. The factory didn’t splice wires correctly in it. Just taping the wires together. Lots of corrosion in it which caused many gremlins. Especially in the 6 relay headlight door mechanism harness . I’m making sure that every wire is tested and all the insulation PVC sleeving is removed and replaced
      Thank you
