Imagine him today. Gerrard was the king of the high press before that was even a thing. I always say the best way to describe Gerrard was he was Kante without the ball. Never stopped running and closing players down trying to get the ball back whether they were in his own half or the opponents half, wherever the ball was Gerrard wasn't far away. But with the ball he was Kevin de Bruyne. Could carry the ball up the field, score goals, create goals, pass, cross you name it. He could also head the ball as good as anyone. He's by far the most complete player I've ever seen.
@johnboylan3832 hes one of the best players of all time john. Won a champions league. With a mediocre Liverpool team. Fact. Out and out all round world class player. Merry Christmas you filthy animal.
I think even with this amazing Klopp team, Steven Gerrard is still probably the best Liverpool player I've ever seen. He's definitely the best midfielder I've seen play for Liverpool. What made him so exceptional is that he could do everything well. We was fast, his work rate was incredible, he could tackle, he could score a goal from any position amd from long range and he could head the ball. On top of that he took all set pieces and assisted lots of goals. He was even a good crosser. I think any manager, back then or now, would want him in his team. Legend.

I get he didn’t win the league but he drove an average Liverpool team to achieve trophies that were beyond their reach and was up against a Man United team a Chelsea team and an Arsenal team that were full of world-class players and managers and probably the best teams of their respective clubs eras. If he played in one of those teams or one of the best Liverpool teams, he would have won league titles for fun. Possibly the most complete midfielder to ever play in Britain, Id say its between him & Bryan Robson, both were fantastic leaders but Robson could bark commands at players n take their performance from a 6 to an 8/10 while he himself was having a 7/10 game. Gerrard on the other hand had to be 9/10 in his own performance to lift those around him because even an 8/10 game from Gerrard was considered a "Bad Game" for him due to his own previous success. People put him down by saying he never won a premier league and the slip against Chelsea but come on Stevie G was ridiculous. The amount of times he produced the goods and a proper captain. He scored so many bangers at crucial times. One of my favourites of all time. And Henry put it perfectly. His influence and leadership was always there. Can still picture some of the goals he scored. He would get the ball on the edge of the box and smash it in. I think today teams try to walk it in too much and we don’t see screamers now like Stevie used to deliver
As a UTD fan love hearing Scholes talk about Stevie G. What was a travesty is England managers feeling they need to play Lamps and them 2 so sticking Scholes on the right, although the ginger wizard was good enough to have some good games there always seemed that Gerrard and Scholes would have literally been a perfect CM pairing
Agree loved watching Paul Scholes gerrard was my hero what midfield your talking xavi intesta level midfield not saying they are as good but would have been up there
@andrewwright4195 the problem was Lampard was also a beast so managers felt they had to get both him and Stevie in the team. I preferred Stevie to Lamps just slightly but can totally get why Lampard could be favoured (his ability to get a goal cannot be ignored) but although not exactly the same Lamps and Stevie were similar and either would have been served better by Scholes as a counter point. I know Scholes said out of respect 'Stevie could do what I could at UTD but I never could have done what he did at Liverpool' but nobody could play in tight spaces like Scholes, the reason guys like Xavi and Iniesta, similar players rated him so highly
There's solid arguments to be made for so many of them! But Scholes was always going to burn out early because of how much he played when he was young and him not having the physique to begin with, and Lampard and Gerrard are just taking the cake for me also because of how game changing they were standalone aswell as for their teams.
I'm a Chelsea fan but Gerrard was pretty special. Sure he didn't win the league with Liverpool but he pretty much won a Champions League on his own after finding themselves 3-0 down at half time.
Stevie G is the greatest ever player to have played for Liverpool FC. And we've had man great players. Rush, Kenny, Barnes, Stevie G was the best. Nobody in this current Liverpool teams even come close to the ability the guy had
Exactly..thats why u cant compare him to scholes and kdb..hes a different animal. He has the defensive side of a midfielder, that scholes doesnt have. The player i look today that is similar to him now is Declan Rice

Loyalty is two edged sword, especially in sport. He could have done so much more if he was in better team. Imagine him in Inter or AC or RM or Mourinhos CHL, or SAF MU. He could have done so much more.
Scholes was an amazing player, lampard a great player but both of them couldn't have done what he did at lpool in struggling sides.... Got to respect Scholes very humble honest lad
says something when football fans always put Gerrard 3rd out pf him Scholes and lamps, but all retired prem defenders and midfielders wax lyrical at how amazing Stevie G was
Lampard scholes were great at a lot of things. But gerrard was great at everything's. Long range passing was pinpoint homing missiles. Outside the box rockets. Hardly ever missed penalty. Headers. Corners , tackles. Dribbling , fast . Both feeted . The pinnacle of a box to box midfield machine thats what sets hjm apart from the other's. He was stuck in the middle of 2 golden eras of liverpool fc so sad he never got the league came so close. However won quite alot of trophies and the biggest champions league final ever. He had a hand in every trophy he ever won
Scholes could head, score, defend, orchestrate and dictate tempo of a game. He was a "teacher" at La Masia. He could tiki-taka, and smash and grab. Gerrard didn't have that "pausa" in his game. All brute, no finesse.
@@vitaminamulti scholes could not defend, even by his own admission he said tackling was one thing he couldn't master and that was the difference between him and Gerrard
What if....what if....this was Stevie's legacy in some ways. What if Klopp had him in his prime? If Mourinho or Ferguson had got their wish to have him in their greatest teams? A lot was made of Ferguson's comment on Gerrard not being "a top, top player". We all know the root of that remark was a little sour grapes as Ferguson really, REALLY wanted him at United at the time when Gerrard considered that Chelsea move. For all the skill and ability Gerrard had, his greatest gift was his ability to lead and inspire. He was a player tailor-made for Klopp and it's one of football's greatest misfortunes that the two never had that chance. Klopp has said as much. If Gerrard had played under Klopp, even those seasons where the team had suffered through injuries, Gerrard would have carried them through to more titles and trophies. It was never meant to be. Without doubt, the most complete midfielder that the PL has ever seen. For what Scholes said about him says everything. Scholes said he couldn't have done what Gerrard did at Liverpool but Gerrard could have probably done what he did at United. That's respect.

He was overshadowed by Paul Scholes, but he was still one hell of a player. One of the best midfielders in premier league history.
He will always be the first player i will buy in every football manager back in the day 😅....he will always have a spot in my Barca team, all day everyday.
Grew up watching him. Forever my icon.
brother just smashed the ball from 45 yard.
Jose Mourinho's never found love, Stevie Gerrard.
World Class.
How I miss seeing this guy on the ball..
Only player I saw who had absolutely everything
It's not even a debate. Gerrard is by far the best
I miss these days, stevie G was on another leval.
Absolutely beautiful ❤️YNWA❤️
Gerrard was a utility player. Such players are not easy to come by...
Utility player? Mate, Gerrard was a colossus
@@SkywalkerXxX Ok... He was a Colossus utility player 😄
@@ebubejamesoriehi2921 lol, a shit take by a loser
Please find more clips 😊
Gerrard is Liverpool, Liverpool is Gerrard.
Gerard was a leader he was a motivational leader that's what makes a captain
For Teddy, Scholes, and everyone else here to say that says everything. He was the ultimate midfielder
There's solid arguments to be made for so many of them! But Scholes was always going to burn out early because of how much he played when he was young and him not having the physique to begin with, and Lampard and Gerrard are just taking the cake for me also because of how game changing they were standalone aswell as for their teams.
I love you Stevie G
I'm a Chelsea fan but Gerrard was pretty special. Sure he didn't win the league with Liverpool but he pretty much won a Champions League on his own after finding themselves 3-0 down at half time.
No weaknesses. Unmatched passion. Unmatched aura.
Best midfielder by a mile
однозначно Стіві Дж. один з найкращих хавбеків в історії не тільки прем'єр ліги😊
Greatest English player of all time and it’s not even close
I seen him play in a friendly at Ibrox. It was a friendly he was barley trying and was still so good
Lol who painted Henry's beard in on the thumbnail??
Stevie G is the greatest ever player to have played for Liverpool FC. And we've had man great players. Rush, Kenny, Barnes, Stevie G was the best. Nobody in this current Liverpool teams even come close to the ability the guy had
Steven Gerrard: The Redeemer
🏴🇬🇧🏆5️⃣5️⃣
One of the best english players ever, had everything
Even Teddy Sheringham a United fan choosing Steven Gerrard over other Midfield player says alot about Steven Gerrard.
Exactly..thats why u cant compare him to scholes and kdb..hes a different animal. He has the defensive side of a midfielder, that scholes doesnt have. The player i look today that is similar to him now is Declan Rice
Alex F had Scholes - Jose M had Lampard - but yet they both tried to sign Stevie G …!?!?
Fergie didn't rate Gerrard. Said so in his book that he wasn't a world class player
@@vitaminamultiBullshit he wanted Gerrard the greatest PL midfielder ever and one of the best ever 💯
@@garyoconnor7004 nope. Gerard even said he was hurt fervor didn’t rate him as world class. look it up mate
@@vitaminamultiHe said Gerrard wasn't a top, top player, but Zidane amongst others, disagreed with him publicly. Fergie was a great manager, but it doesn't mean he's right all the time. So to use Fergie's comments to justify that he isn't world class is biased. Mourinho wanted him too and said great things about him. But I guess to you only Fergie's words matter 😂
Scholes is a big man for admitting it. Gerrard kept him out the England team so fair play to him.

Gerrard was insane to be honest
Fair play to Scholesy being completely humble and down to earth because Paul Scholes was world class and won a lot more trophies than Gerrard but player for player Gerrard was criminally underrated and genuinely a superstar, I’m a Liverpool fan and looking back I thick if he did leave he would of accomplished more but fair play to his loyalty
Ps Paul Scholes and Pirlo are only two players I’ve ever seen control an entire game if they wanted to……..Frightening
Loyalty is two edged sword, especially in sport. He could have done so much more if he was in better team. Imagine him in Inter or AC or RM or Mourinhos CHL, or SAF MU. He could have done so much more.
Love the last clip where the utd fan squirms whilst lennon says Gerrard is the best out of the Gerrard/lampard/Scholes debate 😂😂😂😂
Scholes was an amazing player, lampard a great player but both of them couldn't have done what he did at lpool in struggling sides.... Got to respect Scholes very humble honest lad
as a Liverpool fan, Paul scholes is probably the most honest man in football
😍😍😍😍
With Klopp leaving, I would love for José to come manage Liverpool. He'll get backlash, but he would be awesome.
CR7 and Gerrard are my favourite players!
The one player England needed now.
says something when football fans always put Gerrard 3rd out pf him Scholes and lamps, but all retired prem defenders and midfielders wax lyrical at how amazing Stevie G was
He Won 55 though. He went from being a legend to becoming a GOD.
Teddy aheringham sayin it says it all
Top 15 greatest ever player , top 5 greatest ever midfield player full stop
It's mad with the players we've had like Gerrard , England didn't win more . Football is different now with all the free kicks given.
Who else other than Stevie G who can carry a team of at times just avg to where Liverpool is all these years
Stevie was the GOAT midfielder. Lampard could attack but not defend, Scholes could pass and that was it, Stevie could do it all
Scholes could head, score, defend, orchestrate and dictate tempo of a game. He was a "teacher" at La Masia. He could tiki-taka, and smash and grab. Gerrard didn't have that "pausa" in his game. All brute, no finesse.
Stevie also slips
@@vitaminamulti scholes could not defend, even by his own admission he said tackling was one thing he couldn't master and that was the difference between him and Gerrard
@@vitaminamulti it was 10 years ago mate let it go 🥱
If gerrard was in klopp era we would have definitely won more league & champions leagues
Yes imagine dropping gerrard into this current team jeez
Teddy Sheringham knows ball btw 🤝
The KDB of his era.
I have one word " Istanbul"
It doesn't pain me 😂😂😂😂
all these legends telling you how good he is yet certain fans tell you he's no good
The most infuential player in EPL. He is inspiring a lot of people, something that scholes and lampard didnt have
Come on different breed
Gerrard under mourinho imagine that
What if....what if....this was Stevie's legacy in some ways.
King Kenny king stevi G
Gerrard could have won league titles all over europe but his love and loyalty to his team knew no bounds
Something these twitter virgins these days dont understand
Miles better than Lampard
Lampard is selfish
