I got the cosmos elite and used my Vive wireless adapter on it. Irregardless of the price, this combo makes it the best VR solution available. Nothing is even in the same league as that combo. I wonder why no one is making videos about this. It's really frustrating, because wireless needs to be pushed more. Once you go wireless with high fidelity, you can't go back. I'm trying to sell my pimax 5k+ after it.

It's a real shame HTC still insists on premium prices when they are no longer the top game in town.
I know, I have the Samsung Odyssey+ headset and I love it (paid $250). The screen is one of the best on the market especially with the pixel filter, I would look at the index for it's controllers as an upgrade but I can't see a reason to get anything from Vive.

Lens mod is totally worth it, the resolution is so high that no clarity is lost with higher sweetspot.
A lot of people are bashing on Pimax for their high prices, but at least they gives you the latest (and sometimes unfinished) stuff of VR technology. And now compare to HTC...
I don't get why people keep comparing entire ecosystems when thanks to SteamVR, you can literally pick and choose as you need. Like the cosmos elite as a set doesn't make sense to me, but as a stand-alone headset with the index controllers and wireless adapter, it may not be a bad option. I am personally leaning that way. I dislike the tether, so the option to go wireless is more important for me than FOV and refresh rate.
Can you put the base stations into Sleep mode with SteamVR? I know that with my Vive Pro wireless I need to have its link box powered and connected to usb port to be able to do this. Thanks for your vids.

Vive has lost their minds. I'm sitting over here enjoying the heck out of my Samsung O+ that I got for a fraction of what they are asking for. And it's still a dang good experience. Why in the world would I "upgrade" into something that is so clearly a downgrade on the controller front (both the new ones that don't track correctly and the ancient Vive Wands). Base stations are the devil (I came from a Vive) and I can't go back to base station tracking ever. This is NOT the way Vive.
I think this might be a quality HMD when used with the Index controllers BUT at this point, you’re paying $1,150 (not counting taxes and shipping) when the Index itself runs $1,000 and sports a better FOV, higher refresh rate and has a bigger sweet spot and built-in audio. It’s super bizarre to see HTC utterly screw themselves with this.
If they had reworked the Cosmos controllers to work with Lighthouse tracking, and brought this in around $600, they probably would have had a winner on their hands. $899 with the old controllers? No, definitely not.
Why HTC keeps making the same mistake over and over? Shit tracking on our new headset, don’t worry we’ll release another one with wands and base stations, charge more and problem fixed.
I am sure that the VR market exists in 2 types/This is Oculus Rift S and Valve Index !!! I am sure that I will be disappointed in the purchase of Cosmos, saving up for Valve .
We don't lose much FOV because there wasn't much to begin with! Classic Lol. I don't think I will be getting a Cosmos, when i can get a Valve Index for basically the same price(and H/L Alyx thrown in for free).
HTC did same thing on their phones. they like to prove they are top band by high price. then their phone businesses totally dead. they either don't learn from that or really lack of money
VR 2 must happen... all this vr companies dont offer a standard... some have good soft but bad design... sum have FOV buy no sweat spot ... sum have sweet spot but no fov ... some dont track all ... is just messy ... VR 2 is should fix diferemces and start inovating new stuff like eye tracking etc ..this VR industry is messy ... lucky for the valve who made a standard but the rest is bulshiit
Same old (bad) vive lenses, same old limited FOV, same old vive wands controllers but for the price of a last tech premium headset, good job HTC once again you're the joke of the market
I don't feel like they're going to "original". -If your talking base station 1.0 vs 2.0 or steamvr base station technology your looking at a difference between feet in play space. Most people I know dont have huge play spaces. The huge play spaces that I know of in example are those who are architects exploring their design in vr. -Controllers; its Vives decision to make new controllers the reason they did is with the cosmos controllers is for tracking. Otherwise Vive Wands weren't that badly. And that's Vives decision what they do. Valve Index controllers is Valves. People whine and complain way too much about every damn little thing that performance wise wasn't crucial and if they claim it is they're just being critical and judgemental and probably being paid by someone to do so or playing favoritism. -Display, lol do I need to go into "old" on display? No it's clearly better. Definition of Elite, in this case. Its modular. It has options. Has an amazing display. It can use all base stations made between Vive and Valve and most of all vr controllers. You can easily take VR on the go. Or have a high quality tracking in house.
HTC is the apple of vr. They sell overpriced products with minor changes and they just keep adding more suffixes to their names. HTC VIVE COSMOS ELITE PRO PLUS 4K
I'm not a fan of vive... Always really expensive with paying more for less. This seems like a big fail.. total flop of cosmos and now a repackaging to add insult to injury and when you add up all the costs, why even bother... Either get a samsung od +/rift s or an index for PC vr... Id say these are the three best options now.
htc is a strange company...when they were mainly oem for win mobile cellphones they were great....they started making phones themselves...they sucked....same great hardware but experience phones with questionable design....same with first vr headsets...kinda oem for valve....and look what they sell now.... questionable design with premium price.....htc is going in circles

Why in the world would I "upgrade" into something that is so clearly a downgrade on the controller front (both the new ones that don't track correctly and the ancient Vive Wands). Base stations are the devil (I came from a Vive) and I can't go back to base station tracking ever. This is NOT the way Vive.
The Price of right has drop 41% in Denmark the last month, and we can get it for 670$ :)
I could only wish for the Index, but it has not even been set to avaliable in my country yet :')
With Oculus Link and Quest getting back in stock I don't see any reason to recommend it.
good point but you’re wayyyy off have you read the description they’re going to have add on on elite and cosmo
Vive wasted R&D on the cosmos, when they could have simply made a Vive 2.0
If they had reworked the Cosmos controllers to work with Lighthouse tracking, and brought this in around $600, they probably would have had a winner on their hands.
$899 with the old controllers? No, definitely not.
More Parts means More Malfunction and More Profit for Valve.. I still like the CV1
So the cameras are literally pointless?
Well at least HTC are selling them in my country unlike someone... *cough* valve *cough*
i think that the "modular" headset we already have it it's the oculus quest
Why HTC keeps making the same mistake over and over? Shit tracking on our new headset, don’t worry we’ll release another one with wands and base stations, charge more and problem fixed.
Yo is that boneworks music in the background
I am sure that the VR market exists in 2 types/This is Oculus Rift S and Valve Index !!! I am sure that I will be disappointed in the purchase of Cosmos, saving up for Valve .
We don't lose much FOV because there wasn't much to begin with! Classic Lol. I don't think I will be getting a Cosmos, when i can get a Valve Index for basically the same price(and H/L Alyx thrown in for free).
I liked the act fast thing. 🤣
spend 300 bucks for valve controller and 2 (+2) sensor 2.0 then we have a good headset =D or buy a index and be happy ...
If I hear one more Rise of Kingdoms ad I’m going to loose my sanity.
The Cosmo controllers took a back step after facebooks legal team got involved.
You think $899 is bad? In South Africa where I live this headset costs over $1500
i tried this headset, and i prefer my oculus rift s... i don't think this price is worth it.
HTC uses old Valve technologies, that works good. But can't create something good new by themselves. They need good VR engineers.
HTC did same thing on their phones. they like to prove they are top band by high price. then their phone businesses totally dead. they either don't learn from that or really lack of money
Too bad the VR market is very high right now due to Covid19
why is it so expensive
Because its HTC!
Htc is money hungry company
Shit products by 2020 standards lol avoid vive products at all cost
$600 would’ve been a more realistic price.
Something that turns me off is these LCD panels, their black levels are just poor and hurt immersion. I'm holding off until we get a real gen2 hmd.
Same old (bad) vive lenses, same old limited FOV, same old vive wands controllers but for the price of a last tech premium headset, good job HTC once again you're the joke of the market
I paid 1100$ for mine..
??? Htc and Valve are two separate companies, this hmd was made by HTC not Valve
ImNothingSpecial LMAO Sorry that was a typo. You saw nothing 👀
Again, they improve some stuff but miss crucial stuff instead and overprice it... Worthless again. Elite, false marketing.
"It's kind of odd you don't have a pass through". Um, you have a flip up.
Shut Up And Take My Money!
DOA
TOO EXPENSIVE !!! They should take lessons from Oculus !
They're a much smaller company that does not have the resources to price as aggressively as Facebook does.
dam im early lol, well thats a first
So early!
htc is a strange company...when they were mainly oem for win mobile cellphones they were great....they started making phones themselves...they sucked....same great hardware but experience phones with questionable design....same with first vr headsets...kinda oem for valve....and look what they sell now.... questionable design with premium price.....htc is going in circles
What a total waste of time this headset is. Why would anyone buy that with all the other options on the table?
First
Cosmos is a joke in general. This "elite" thing ... is not even funny ;)
I'm early, wow.
The fact that this uses the wands just makes this...cringe tbh.
I cant understand a word your saying, best to stick to your native language
