You're one of the ONLY people who can keep me pulled in and focused on your entire video. I absolutely love the way you teach. THANK YOU, Gavin. Sincerely.
Sound, concise, and easy to understand advice with excellent sound quality, practically presented, along with a beautiful model, packaged in an expertly edited video. Can someone explain to me how this gets even one "dislike," nevermind 44? People are fickle.
Yes me too, he has a very engaging personality, and is a great teacher, makes it all feel fun & achievable. Easily one of the best photography teachers on RUclips.
Gav, awesome tutorial. I've rewatched a dozen times and cant convince myself that a large area of her cheeks look sort of dark or muddy. From here I can't tell how much makeup has been applied but a reduction might be called for. Regards
I studied years ago at a workshop with a master photographer, Frank Cricio, and he had developed a technique called porcelain light, using a soft key light with a harder projected parobolic light, which would create a focused specularity in line with the key on the face. You dont want to use this on a subject with harsh skin features. The beauty this brought, likened images to the forty and fifty era glamor portraits. This really has a wonderful visual impact with B&W.
I always find that Gavin's performance and teachable lessons are tasty popcorn moments, Always enjoyable. I hope to see him at Shutter Fest 2022 this year.
Well that would be awesome but sadly unlikely in 2022. However the totally brilliant Seth Miranda is speaking at Shutter Fest and his live demos are worth the ticket price alone in my opinion!
Always a highlight ( pardon the pun ) of my RUclips viewing is my weekly Gavin Hoey tutorial. Always learn something new each time. Keep up the great work! 👍
Really enjoy your upbeat videos. You show us that we don't need the most expensive equipment to get great shots. I am also a fan of Adorama. I purchase most of my kit from them and they have treated me very well. I use a lot of the same equipment that you do, and find that the balance between value and quality can not be beat. Please keep the videos coming.
Brilliant as always .. Whenever you introduce a new video I know for sure that I'm going to experience something magical .. Thank you so much for you on going efforts throughout the years .. Still waiting for the Hollywood glamour lighting the way Hedy Lamar portraits looked some 70 years ago . Wish you all the best .. Muhammad Fathi from Cairo - Egypt ..
Chloe was amazing even with the limited posing. Also I want to thank you for your tip about hats. I have a box of them I bring to most of my shoots and it never fails I get some spectacular shots.
Great step by step Gavin Hoey, glad you also mentioned that in the end is up to each Photographer to decide on the output of the background light as well as the the fill(silver or white). Thanks for sharing so much great knowledge through ADORAMA channel!
Makes me want to grab someone and start shooting. I appreciate the clear and concise tutorial; very nicely done. I loved the final edits. They are very flattering.
I have been following the channel for a couple of years now and have to say that every single video is always Awesome and educational !! Great work Gavin and Adorama!!!
Great video, as always, Gavin. Would you in a subsequent episode go over your post processing of this photo shoot? I love the way you edited the pictures. Thanks
Hi Anita. There are two secret tips you need in order to "get it". First is to spectacularly fail on a regular basis. The second is look objectively look at the failures to learn why they failed. Stick at it, it gets easier.
Hi Gavin , love your videos and the way you explain everything . I have one question, the screen you use to watch the pics is an IPAD? Greetings from Madrid.
Hi Robert. Thanks for the kind words and you're so right, Chloe turned a nice session into an amazing photo session! It's almost like I choose Chloe for this theme on purpose 😉
Hello, could you tell me, why you want the full cintrol of the Light in the room? Why you took the completly dark pic to make sure. On other videos you dont check it. Do you do it all the time or in other projects it doesnt mater?
You're one of the ONLY people who can keep me pulled in and focused on your entire video. I absolutely love the way you teach. THANK YOU, Gavin. Sincerely.
I have been watching all of your videos in a row...can't get enough! Thank you!

Gavin is the Tony Hart of photography. I kept expecting an appearance from Mr Bennett! Great stuff!

Thank you for your thoughtful education, Gavin. Your videos are such a valuable resource.
Thanks Paul 👍
Well demonstrated. Thank you!
This guys is fab, amazing what i learn
Gavin your so right...you dont need a beauty dish for someone whos naturally a beauty :).....Chloe!!!!!!!!
In my experience Rick a beauty dish used incorrectly can make anyone look terrible. A softbox is a much easier tool to start with 😉
I always enjoy your videos. I look forward to them. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the kind words Patty 👍
This is so straightforward and we'll explain, thank you!!!
Very nice and informative. Thanks Gavin
Great story, editing, music, model, and of course, you are a genius. Great job and the photos/poses look amazing.
Thanks Ed. The editing, music and guy behind the camera count for nothing without a model. Chloe did an amazing job.
Stunning images Gary. Really enjoyed this mate. Could watch you all day 👍👍👍
Thanks Pauls, I'll pass that on to Gary when I see him 😉
@@GavinHoey haha, typo mate, honest mistake - doh 😳😳😁

Thank you! Your videos are always extremely useful and practical.
Excellent...You always make it look so easy. Hoping one day I will get it.

@@GavinHoey The first part is easy. Comes naturally to most people. The second tip is the hard one.
One of your best videos. Appreciate the step by step breakdown and showing that it can be very versatile
great video as always Gavin - thank you for these- I've learnt so much from you over the years
Hi Gavin , love your videos and the way you explain everything . I have one question, the screen you use to watch the pics is an IPAD? Greetings from Madrid.
Hi Nora. Not an iPad, not an Android tablet either. That's my Lenovo Miix 2 in 1 laptop / tablet.
awesome your ideas are fantastic . thank you so,so much
Great early tip about the catchlights, and shooting just below the angled modifier.
So easy to miss off the catchlights with beauty light. Thanks for the comment Alan.
