What's it Like to Fly on TAP Air Portugal A330neo?

- I flew with TAP Air Portugal in their A330-900neo from San Francisco to Lisbon in early June. It was my first time flying with TAP and many had warned me that they didn't have a good reputation.
At San Francisco, there was no lounge open at the international terminal. I visited an empty ghost lounge prior to boarding. Onboard TAP, I explored the seat products in both Business and Economy Class. The plane was new and the cabin was fresh. The pilots gave me a great welcome and explained the features of A330neo.
After take-off, drinks and dinner were served. I then slept for 4 hours in the new Business Class seat. The seat, although narrow, is long enough for my height (6'1”). After sunrise, passengers were greeted to a scenic arrival into Lisbon International. Most of the passengers were in transit through Lisbon.
At the end of the video, I gave my remarks on flying TAP. I think TAP has some of the best airfares for Trans-Atlantic, if you purchase in advance. Therefore, one of the cheapest full-service airlines in both Economy and Business Class.
TAP is undervalued, it is one of the safest airlines in Europe and its pilots have always been among the best in the world. Only the experience of landing B-727 on the very dangerous and ultra short old runway of Island of Madeira or Azores in the 70s, shows the greatness of its pilots. I have been using TAP for almost four decades and can only say positive things about this company. I admire the high level of its pilots and the airplanes safety and control, great technicals and engineers. I know about TAP, because this airline travel to Venezuela (my country) since April 1976.

Captain Venâncio is the “creme the la creme” of portuguese pilots! You were lucky having him on the flight, always ads that personal touch and is very welcoming. Same goes for the majority of course but there’s always those special persons, and TAP is full of them. Thanks Sam! Enjoy your time in Portugal and thanks for flying TAP.

I'm Portuguese and I've travelled many short and long-haul flights with different airlines and I can confirm that TAP is one of the best and with a good value for money compared to other European airlines. And I really like it how they've divided the economy so it suits everyones needs and wants.
Not to mention that TAP has one of the best safety track records in the world.

I flew TAP from Duesseldorf to Lisabon to San Francisco in February 2019 economy enjoyed food and my window seat of course Port Wine is my favorute. What I liked most is TAP allowed 2 nights 3 days stay in Lisabon I went around the city churches I lived in Brazil so spoke in Portuguese .. Ate lots of Sardines . beautiful city. Traveling in trams going up and down old town Lisbon is a romantic experience. I note copiolot in your tap from SFO to Lisbon was bush pilot in Mozambique .. I was in Maputo couple if months on in assignment ...I love Portugal and its culture language food and port wine. If I travel again to SFO it will be with TAP.
Love TAP. Even left Air France's Skyteam for Star Alliance. It's not perfect but flew all around the world for the last 8 years in TAP.
The airline seems to be pretty “new” in that case

I’ve just discovered him through this Sam Chui’s flight. A very interesting character, you’re right! Also as a fan of aviation and Metal music, it has been a great surprise to discover he is also a Metalhead and the host of the biggest metal radio show in Portugal :)
He pronounced Minneapolis really well for someone who’s not from the US. He could have said Minnesota which is also difficult for some USA citizens let alone foreigners. Nice touch.
I've flown on the A330ceo and A330neo many times with TAP, from Lisbon through to several cities in Brazil, and I think they are one of the better airlines in Europe. Friendly crew, good food and no issues. And as you say, their fares are value for money. I have also used seat 9A, in fact I've booked it more than once, and I really like the room it gives you, and the window wasn't a problem for me.

TAP is an awesome airline. Flown on them for business on several occasions and service has always been spot on and the food was great. Very friendly crews and they treat u like family. Thanks for another great video.

October 2021 my wife and I flew Miami Lisbon Miami on TAP. It was excellent and the plane itself was one of the cleanest airliners I’ve ever been on both ways! First trip to Europe since Covid so we were delighted to see how clean the plane was and how professional the crew was. We will definitely fly TAP Again.

I’ve always been a nervous flyer but I love to travel. Part of my “therapy” if you will has been watching these types of videos to help educate myself. I wasn’t even considering TAP airlines since they seemed so discount, I equated that to discount in safety as well but after seeing this video and reading the comments on their safety record I definitely plan to give them a go. Especially since I love going business and normally it’s so expensive. Wow great video.

Awesome to see Captain Pedro’s story . Aviation brings people together , not apart.
Sam, TP Air 🇵🇹 has its problems with Customer Service, and flight delays being the worst for me. However, for safety and onboard service, it is quite a good carrier. Their pilots are TOP notch. Their safety record is stellar, despite one very fatal accident, the ONLY one, back in 1977 and in the Island of Madeira, where you are heading. That airport scares the crap out of me, and TP's pilots best manage to land there, but all with special FNC training. If you ask me to choose safetywise TP is awesome. Their onboard meals are quite nice, plus free drinks. The crews, not always the best, but not horrible either. It's the flight delays and horrible customer service that kills an otherwise quite good airline.
I’ve flown on TAP many times and alway found them fantastic. Miss going to Portugal - hopefully soon

I traveled to Portugal with TAP in 5 opportunities (Rio-Lisbon, Lisbon-Valencia) and I tell you the truth: It is one of the most safety air companies I have ever travelled, as well of the cheapest, too.

I flew with TAP only once (Zurich - Lisbon - Salvador). I really appreciated the crew and enjoyed the business class of the a 330neo as well as the business lounge of Lisbon airport. Can’t wait to fly again with TAP this autumn!

I have flown Miami to Lisbon twice with TAP in Economy and couldn't fault it at all! TAP landings are the smoothest I have ever experienced and the food, wine and service are wonderful!

Had the pleasure of being flown back to Europe by Captain Venâncio last week! It is clear that he loves his job and he seemed really happy with the A330neo as well! Loved that he did the announcements in 4 languages! Cool plane, very comfortable and will definitely fly with TAP again if I get the opportunity!

Great that you have enjoy it ! TAP Neos A330s and A320s interiors have actually been designed (and partially produced) by Portuguese companies from the National Aeronautical Cluster. Cabin service is always top-notch !
Yep, can confirm, I actually had PhD classes with the lead designer from Alma Design, the studio which worked for TAP. They also designed the refurbishment of the Alfa Pendular (FIAT Pendolino) train sets from CP, which was a definite improvement over the original livery and interiors.
Am definitely thinking about booking TAP for my October JFK to LIS flight. Evidently they are now departing New York from JFK’s Terminal 1.

I have enjoyed my flights to Lisbon from Newark. It is no worse than any other international I Have flown and better than some. Don't hesitate to fly them and Lisbon is great!

Really liked this video. Very cool to see the footage from the flight deck and especially about the early career of Captain Venâncio. Really gives us a feel for the amazingly diverse lives behind the faces we see. Enjoyed this. I am planning to do this same flight in Nov. ‘21 and am looking forward to it now.

i feel you can‘t go wrong with business class in the TAP 330 neo - its a very solid product with a very competitive price tag. Only the service could have been faster. But overall really enjoyed it in 2019 when flying from MIA to LIS
I actually like TAP, I always try to book with them if possible. Just hard at times with cheap flights
