i bought this Scuf Vantage 2 on Oct 28, it's on it way being delivered. i will let you know how it is. it is also my first ever modded/pro controller i ever bought. i hope its good. i got tired of my regular DS4 controllers developing stick drift. i bought my ps4 in November 2017 and the stock DS4 and the replacement i bought both got stick drift. from my experience they have about a year before they go bad.
@@BillMota i know and it doesnt take nearly as much money to make as they act like it does... its takes like 50 bucks to make the 200 dollars ones and like 30 something to make the base controller... all sony has to do is sell it for 100 dollars and the players will go absolutely insane over it
I specifically waited for your review since apparently you're the only trustworthy source and everyone else is too busy schilling to tell the truth. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Mine was fine for the first 6 months then I started getting some stick drift. I sent mine in and got it back all in a time span of 5 days and ever since it’s been perfect. They even sent me an extra set of thumb sticks, rumble pads, d pad, triggers and the really nice braided cable for free. It’s been at least a year since I’ve had it and I absolutely love my vantage. Tbh I wouldn’t bother buying the wireless and wired I have both it cost about $213 with tax and everything and there’s no way to use it wirelessly with a headset (basically if your headset is plugged into your controller, the headset will not work whilst the scuf is in wireless mode. U must have a wireless headset).
xRedRevengerx Fr bruh like who is this kid??? We just telling people how our experience was with our scuf controllers. Not saying it’ll be the same for everyone... and def not promoting scuf. Imo the strike pack is a way better bang for your buck, but for Competative players scuf controllers would be a better choice.
Andrew Wolf I’ve had my scuf over a year and I’ve had no problems with it as of this comment. Nobody’s paying me to say this. I’m about as broke as they come
Andrew Wolf maybe just don’t rage so hard and you won’t break a controller 😂😂😂 idk how people fuck theirs up so much and so often, man. It’s legit not that hard, and I play OFTEN haha
I actually still have my vantage 1 and it has held up fairly well, but I had a little drift issues at the beginning but it eventually fixed itself and has been my favourite controller ever. If yall have had it break on u that rly sucks but for me if give the original a solid 8.5
@@zaydengalvan9660 it is absolutely amazing. Redefined materials, durability and feel. It makes the vantage 1 feel like a piece of shit. And this is coming from someone that LOVES the original vantage.
Update: I've put down my Vantage for 2 months now and I decided to pick it up last Saturday and so far I've hadn't had the same issues I was having with it before. Before it would lose all functionality during gameplay - I would have to boot up another controller to kick the vantage off the system and then re-boot it. This occurence happened at least once a day. But now - I haven't had to reset the controller at all. The controller is actually functioning as it should.. so far. I'll keep you updated AIRBEAR
I was having that problem then stopped using the controller and started using it again and it went away. It worked just fine for awhile until I started running in to a new problem. Now the left thumb stick drifts but that's not even the worst part. The worst part is that when I click the left thumb stick down to sprint in COD Modern warfare(2019) my sprint will end early and it won't let me sprint properly. Sometimes taking the anti friction rings off helps and sometimes it doesn't. When it happens I have to go in a private match and mess around with the left thumb stick until it works again.
Bought my SCUF vantage 1 a month after release without knowing about the crisis. Over a year later and few hours each day, it works stellar to this day.
Had my scuf vantage for a full year now. My paddles broke 3 different times in the last 3 months. I crazy glued it back on and surprisingly it still works.. but other than that they’re still no complaints. Controller is a must in shooters.
P. S. Guys an gals if your keeping count that's over 200 bucks in dead to me controllers, lose of game time, scary to much time on my head factor and that shit! NOT COUNTING SPARE PARTS EXTRAS ETC. TOTAL GRAND SCORE OF OVER,( I'M NOT PISSING MY SELF OFF WITH EXACT NUMBERS I DON'T THINK I COULD HANDLE RIGHT NOW), SO WE'RE TALKING OVER A GRAND JUST IN CONTROLLERS BETWEEN IN TWO YEARS FROM PS4 CONTROLLERS EVERY 3 MONTHS TO SCUF CONTROLLER HOWEVER LONG IT DECIDED THE LAST THEN GET FIXED AND LAST AGAIN AND A C4 CONTROLLER THAT JUST STRAIGHT TRASH OUT THE BOX BUT FEELS SO RIGHT AND LOOKS SO GOOD. SOMEONE NEEDS TO START PAYING ME TO TEST ALL THIS CRAP I'M TIRED OF SPENDING MY OWN MONEY ON IT.
I pre ordered the vantage last year. For the two-ish months I before it got to my house I was soo stoked. I was so excited to finally have a pro controller. But when I finally got it, I tried playing Fortnite with it and I had hyper sensitive triggers, dead zone(which I didn’t realize at first) and a ton of other issues. But I kept it. For the time I had it I saw a ton of negative reviews popping up in my recommend feed. But I didn’t want to watch them because I told myself the controller was working ok for me , and I guess I just didn’t want to return it. I had already seen your first review, and I saw your “Do Not Buy the Scuf Vantage” on my feed, I recognized you on the thumbnail. So I watch your second review, and I was SHOCKED. I understood how stupid I was to not watch any negative reviews, so the next day I packed it up and returned it. It had already been two weeks, but I pre-ordered it from GameStop so I the return policy lasted a month. So I returned the Vantage, and bought some Kontrol Freeks to use with my stock controller. So I just switched to claw, I decided not to trust Scuf anymore, and of course I subscribed to your channel (I owed that to the man who saved me $200) So that’s my story, I switched to pc Fortnite on mouse and keyboard, and when I do play on PS4, I just use claw grip. I did buy the Xbox Elite controller to use on Xbox and as a controller on PC, but I ended up just liking the DualShock 4 better, I still have the Elite tho and still use it from time to time. Anyway thanks for reading this, no need to like.
Yeah the stock ds4 is a good controller, you dont know how good it is untill you try use a different type of controller. If i was you id get the scuf infinity pro, its awsome, and built from a stock ds4. So no wireless lag or dead zones to contend with. And the analog sticks are buttery smooth with less tension required for movement which is good as the sticks on my ds4 that come with my ps4 were a little too stiff for me to get good results in fps games
Pre-ordered the Vantage 1. Took forever to get here and it was trash at first, but I stuck with it through all the updates and now it’s great. Still works to this day.
I purchased vantage last December and three to four months after even with the update they said that would fix the stutters, I just pretty much put it back in it's box and have not used it again. Also, the paddles broke into two pieces twice for me. It was more of a hassle dealing with things like that considering how much I paid for it. Since then I have not made any plans on purchasing any more scuf products until I actually get what I paid for. Anyway, I'd like to thank you for everything that you do for us for keeping us updated on the reviews on the new products. You make it easier for us to decide on what to purchase. My only regret was not watching your review on the vantage before I purchased it. Please continue on making videos and reviewing all these products. I appreciate you. Thanks again.
I still have mine. I use it practically everyday. I don't really notice a difference when I adjust the triggers. Aside from that everything is all good
I still use the Vantage 1 and love it. I had a Vantage 1 at launch it worked fine for about 2-3 months until I got the unfixable stick drift issue. I sent it to them and they gave me a completely new one very fast, with no costs attached whatsoever. Customer service was fantastic for me. I have since been playing with my Scuf Vantage for all games on PS4 without any issues, and honestly I can't go back to a DS4 at all. I use custom button mapping because I am left handed. All of the extra buttons and paddles are super useful and comfortable for me, allowing me to keep my thumbs on the sticks. Yes, even the sax buttons. I can't not use the sax buttons or paddles now. I purchased a gaming laptop this year and have used my Scuf Vantage for every controller supported game without issues(using DS4 Windows). The extra buttons still work great on PC! Though I couldn't figure out how to get it to work wirelessly on PC. It continues to be my favorite controller, and I only really have 2 complaints. 1: The light bar is incompatible with PSVR due to how they cover the light with the logo. For the price it is, this is unacceptable. 2: I would love it if they made faceplates with different front grip styles, as I'd like fatter convex grip bumps on the front to fill my palms more.
Best control out there. Especially since the inside paddels are usually uncomfortable to grip or press. The ds4 style sticks with the 2 paddles is perfect.
I still have my vantage 1 and the only issue ive had with it is. The volume bar is always on mute now, so i have to use my wireless headset in order to talk to my friends. Other then that i love my controller. Just picked up the modern ware fare limited edition, and everything is working perfectly fine. Keep up the great videos 👍👌
I bought my vantage 1 controller in October of 2019 and honestly I haven’t had any problems with mine. There are a little bit of things I’d want to change. For example, I feel like the R1 and L1 buttons are a bit too hard to press I don’t know if there’s a way to fix that. The other main issue I have with the controller is that the main buttons sometimes need to be pressed a bit hard for it to register the press input. But besides that the controller is good!
I must have lucked out twice with my vantages. All my infinities have crapped out real quick, but my vantages work great and feel great. I used to have horrible drift in the sticks, but the firmware update fixed that problem.
I have a scuf vantage (first one) and i had to send it in twice to fix because the drifting issue on mine wasn’t fixed by the firmware update 0.8. After the second time scuf actually just sent me a brand new one with no additional cost after the firmware update 1.1 and has been working perfectly since. I love it and use it to play every game. Probably will wait a little longer to get the vantage 2 because i do like that it saves different presets.
Have you tried other placements though? Not saying the placement isn't what's best for you, but trying other things could lead you to something even better and more comfortable. Ya never know.
@@arcanusluvalus1388 SCUF Impact 100% . Their paddle placements is just perfect for me! But... I found the inner paddles hard to press, so I only use the outer ones, to be fair I don't need the inner ones. But everyone has different hands, so if you know someone with a elite controller or you can test it somewhere, do it before doing the buy. If the one you buy doesn't suit you... well you just throw atleast 170 away( price of scuf without anything)
AIR BEAR -- Thank you so much for this channel. No fluff, no gimmicks, and the content is just what I'm looking for. I recently ordered a BBC due in part to your channel and Honest Reviews, but also decided to get a new, heavily discounted Vantage 1 from Gamestop with the extended warranty too to satisfy my thirst while waiting for the BBC. I've had it for a week now. Out of the box, one of the 'hair triggers' doesn't tighten down properly, the left stock joystick has issues click down while pressed forward all the way, and one of the magnets under the D-pad disk came unattached when I removed it the first time. So, I'm glad I only paid $119 - I plan on returning it for a refund when the BBC arrives. The gameplay was great -- although the controller has an issue connecting via USB the first attempt every time. I also noticed that the headphone quality was less than that of the standard Sony DS4. I really like the SAX buttons!! The way the controller fits in my hand and the placement of the SAX buttons are perfect for my meaty paws. That is the only attribute I'll feel I'll miss with the BBC. I had updated firmware, so no issues with how the controller operates while in-game, and I was able to use the Vantage 2 custom software on the Vantage 1 too -- to be tested here in a little bit. I think your assumptions of the V2 being a rebranded V1 are spot on, unfortunately.
What? I have a steelseries wired headset and had no issues using my scuf wireless at the same time. I say had because I returned my scuf since the analog sticks didn't have enough tension and all of the extra buttons were very uncomfortable and hard to get used to. The paddle placement is awful imo.
@Uganda Knuckles I don't know what kind of headsets you guys are using that need to be plugged into a controller. The only headset I've ever had that does that was the basic ps4 mic. Stay far away from scuf btw. If you don't like your controller and want to return it, they charge you a $30 restock fee plus the cost of shipping it back which is another $10-15 so you're out almost $45 if you don't like it.
So I bought the Scuf Vantage 2 almost immediately. I bought the wired only version for the game I have over 1200 hours in: Rocket League on PC. After 10 hours of game play on this controller so far I love it. My gameplay has definitely improved and I prefer the shape of this controller over a stock PS4 controller. I have used stock Xbox controllers and I came from a used Scuf Infinity 4PS controller that was lightly used. It lasted my 9 months used but I needed a controller that has a SECURE usb connection. I have this and more with my Scuf Vantage 2. I'm happy with my purchase but only time will tell how durable it really is.
I have the vantage and it works fine but a after the first few months the area were you mute the mic would not let me unmute it so I sent it back they fixed it then everything has worked fine since then
I’ve had my Vantage 1 for 4-5 months now. I got it after the first firmware update. I did still have an issue with stick drift. I applied another firmware update and it seems to have fixed that. I use it wired mostly. And have had times when it start circling in game so I have to unplug and plug back in to get it to work again. But that doesn’t happen too often. I would suggest anyone thinking of getting a vantage to get it through GameStop since you have longer to return it if needed
The amount of effort you put into your videos is god tier. Such an in depth review, and the level of honestly with controllers has probably saved so many people money. So thanks, and keep killing it.
My vantage 2 is going good so far, haven’t had any issues in the 2 weeks I’ve had it but I’m only playing an hour or so a day after work, hopefully it holds up though!
Still have the scuf vantage 1. Had it for over 6 months and i can honestly say, out of box till now I have not experienced any stick drift, remaping issues, connection problems, anything. The controller has literally been perfect the whole time ive had it. Paddles still work, sax buttons work, everythings fine on mine. So im pleased to say that my scuf vantage 1 has not had a single issue in over 6+ months.
got my vantage 1 back in june before the announcement of the vantage 2, a few days ago my vantage 1 L3 started giving out and wont let me sprint consistently
Same exact thing. I just got the vantage 2 and am really hoping it works the way it should. I got my vantage 1 in August and the L3 started going bad about 2 weeks ago.
I am now on my 4th replacement since getting it as a gift last Christmas. - Stick drift -Wouldn't charge in Wired mode as directed. -Charged in Wireless mode only, never stopped charging, and would turn itself on every 10 minutes. When I got my current one; the paddles and Sax buttons were blank, and had to set them myself. The charging light does not show either when it charges in Wired mode. Other than that I enjoy it as an offset controller. I still use my Impact and PRO PS4. No issues with them. The finish on the Impact is wearing off that's it. I find the paddles on the Impact and Vantage to be more comfortable when my middle fingers rest on the inside paddles, and ring fingers on the outer paddles.
I have been avoiding making this comment ever since your first vantage 1 review, but I must admit i have been less than impressed with the consistency in SCUF's product line. I bought my first scuf from game stop (probably my first mistake) but i didn't want a bunch of crazy colors or customizations and i didn't want to wait a month for it to get in the mail. Well i took out insurance on the scuff bc it was 60.00 bucks and i didn't want the controller to break and then be 200.00 in the hole with a broken controller. W/o going into extravagant detail i have had three different scuf vantage controllers and i have experienced a wide variety of issue with each one regardless of the firmware update. Each controller i rcieved from gamestop worked amazing for a while and then......crapped the bed. I am still using my vantage 1 with major mapping issues not to mention the trigger stops dont stay in position. These are annoying but i have overlooked these issue. I am hesitate to buy the vantage 2 due to inconsistencies of there product. I will say the overall design is awesome i just wish they offered their product without all the bugs!!!! Keep making dope vids.
Little late now but i have the vantage one still bought a week or so after its release. Still to this day am using it for apex and have been play that religiously sense day one put those time frames together i hav gotten a lot of use from it. So much so i wanted to use it on my pc so badly i bought a unopened vantage 2 on ebay for 90 bucks it will be here tomorrow. But thats all i got.
Lol I was watching this video at 3am and I was shook when my comment showed up at 3:39. Nice review dude, I ended up getting the Astro C40 but I might give Scuf another shot.
I bought a scuf vantage a few months ago, I received the controller with the face plate and rumbles separated from the box and rolling around loosely. The trigger felt clunky but I still gave it a shot. I had stick drift out the box and after a week my controller would disconnect while plugged in (I’m super gentle with my products) my right trigger completely snapped off after a week I sent it in and they “fixed it” but I feel they just gave me a new controller with the same faceplate and I still had the same problems minus the broken trigger... now I have an expensive paper weight because AIR BEAR put me on BBC and I haven’t played without it since (2months)
Pre-ordered Vantage 1, hit with drifting and dead-zone problems out of the box. Sent it in for service, took 2 months to service and upgrade the firmware. Scuf returned it without a SAX button, and a week later one of the back triggers broke in half. Returned it and bought a Nacon Revolution Unlimited and have been happy since. If you are going to buy a Scuf buy it from a brick and mortar store you can return it to immediately upon issue.
i have roughly 5k hours of gaming on PC with my scuff vantage 1 wired/wireless model and its still going strong havent needed a new controller in almost 3 years when it breaks ill probably get a vantage but everyone has different experiences great content !
My scuf vantige 1 is still working to this day with only 2 minor issues. The triangle button gets stuck. and it has issues with allowing me to run in games sometimes
got a bbc and an astro controller from your review and both had thumbsticks fail me after less than a month. then bought the vantage 2 and so far so good...
I bought my scuf vantage 2 the mw edition for over a year now, and I’m not so into the customized controllers and how they impact on gaming but when I started using it for shooting games it was very comfortable and with a quick response and it helped when I modified the back buttons and how the sticks are set up compared to the regular ps4 control. So in my opinion it’s a good controller for someone that had never played with a customizable device. Great review on your part!!
Dude do your self a favour and listen to the advice on offer, avoid all these trash 3rd party motherboard controllers. They all have similar problems that stock DS4s dont suffer from .
I bought the Vantage 6 months ago and it work how I expect it. The only issue I have is, when I use it wireless it feels really unresponsive and you can't use the headphone jack too.(Which on a $200 controller is a let down). Honestly, overall I'm happy for the most part with the controller.
I have the scuf vantage 1, it worked great out of the box no issues what so ever great controller all around. I also picked up and scuf vantage 2 for myself and the same is present. No issues works awesome! I’ve also have a ps4 controller sent it to be “scuffed” and I’ve have impact controllers all scuf products have never stopped working after months like noted in the video. I’ve had nothing but great experiences with scuf besides the wait for the controllers, but that’s just me being inpatient
MiloTaterTots nope... just a customer who hasn’t had many issues. Although, my back paddles break way too frequently in my opinion. I now have the Scuf Vantage 2 and can say it’s the best they’ve made (with the exception of the brittle paddles)
Never bought a Vantage because I had a Scuf Infinity with paddle actuators that stopped working after 1 month of light play, then decided to upgrade to Scuf Impact because Scuf gave me an extra discount, but the controller I bought didn't work from day 1. The right thumbstick had insane stick drift and felt like they tightened it 10x the amount it should have been. I immediately sent it back for a full refund and switched to battle beaver and haven't looked back since. You get a higher quality product for less money.
I bought the Scuf Vantage from GameStop, and returned it the next day. I was having too many issues and seeing a lot of bad reviews. I bought the Vantage 2 last week, and I have 0 complaints. Every issue I had with the original was non-existent. I’ve used the controller for many hours each day since I’ve had it. I absolutely love it, but hope it holds up for the long run
saxey8 sent mine in one time and luckily it came back perfect, haven’t had a single issue since, i think it’s bull shit that you can’t use a head set unless you’re wired tho.
Vantage 1 lasted four months. I've now had the vantage 2 for a week and the thumbsticks feel tighter than the Vantage 1. If my Vantage 2 shits out quick I'm never buying another Scuf controller again.
I bought my vantage 1 about a month it released and it definitely did have a dead zone and then it wouldn’t allow me to sprint in COD so I put it down and went back to a reg controller. But then they released an update for it and I tried it out again and works perfectly fine for me now. Glad I kept it bc again these controllers aren’t cheap.
Same with my scuf impact my little brother wanted to try then he dropped it on the 3rd day of me having it and now I only have trigger stop on l2 lol 😂
I have my original Vantage (sort of) from launch. Recently had to get my motherboard replaced cause I dropped it multiple times while plugged in & damaged it. Ever since the most recent 1.2 update the controller has worked very well for me & it's my go to for PC since I don't have an Xbox. I had multiple PS4 "Pro" controllers and the Impact and the Vantage fit my hands the best with the Impact having a slight edge so that's why I stick to them.
Got mine a year ago at gamestop. 1st one the chord plug in on the back stopped connecting. Took it back. Got a new one. Few weeks later. Drift so Bad you couldn't play anything. Took it back. Warrantied. 50 bucks. Another new one. Had it for about 2 months.. so far no problems except the am chord is 38 ft long and seems to weigh he connection down.
I got a scuf vantage 1 for cristmas and It got really bad stick drift in the 1st one or two months but that was all fixed when i just recalibrated the sticks. Besides that it has been working great every since and it's still going strong. 👍
Vantage 1 was my first ever scuf, and immediately felt cheap with the face plate and plastic paddles. My trigger stops came off within 2 weeks, and fell into the controller. I had to return the controller for my free repair a month later because one of my paddles broke. They don't sell replacement paddles!!! After I got the controller back, my trigger stops fell into my controller again. I felt like my aim was worse on the vantage than my regular PS4 controller, maybe because of deadzones or the shape. About a year and a half later, I sold the vantage along with my PS4. People have had worse experiences, but I won't be buying a scuf again. At least not till trying out some alternatives.
If your only getting scuffs for the back button I suggest you get the official PlayStation back button attachment or the FPS strike pack dominater. But if your looking for a good pro controller you should get the Astro c40, nacon something(I forgot the nam) or the racer raigiu
@@sauce9401 I'm not sure what a pro controller entails. I'll definitely pick up a fps strike pack or that PS back attachment sometime in the future though. Back paddles are pretty much what I bought the scuf for.
I still have the first one and it has worked really well for me since I got it. The only time I had an issue was with stick drift with Modern Warfare. No issues with it with any other game. I found that the controller did not have the latest firmware update. After updating, it's back to working really freaking well. I love mine.
I had my scuf vantage one for one week and my right and left stuck didn’t work. I returned mine to gamestop 5 times. I’ve had five different scuf vantages from GameStop and returned all of them.
I still have my Vantage 1. And so far, it's been working great. I did, however, have to return the first one I got. The hair-trigger adjustment screw stripped out on the first day when I went to adjust it. Was the craziest thing and I know/knew to be gentle with those being how small they are. Second one I picked up, the current one has been working fine. I did take one sax button off because yeah, I was accidentally hitting it. One other thing that happened with my current one is the USB cable for some reason was losing connection. Thankfully I had another Scuf cable from my Impact Controller I could use. Since I was outside of the return by then. I also had a paddle break unexpectedly. Was odd too, first paddle I've ever had break. Scuf did send me a new set and WHY you can't buy replacements is just stoopid to me. But these were "Complimentary" LOL. I love my Vantage but will be holding off on the new one. Might send in my controller to Battle Beaver.
I had the vantage, actually went through 3 of them in less than a month because I was able to take them back within the 14 days as defective exchange. The third one was just past the 14 day when it’s stick went out. And a paddle had already snapped. I dealt with it for a couple weeks before using the insurance plan to get a C40 at GameStop. Switched to the C40 and have been very happy. The software is so useful for mapping and programming sensitivity. The controller feels way better. The only thing I miss sometimes is the sax button. Also the C40 has purchaseable thumbstick modules when they wear out. Loved the controller so much I bough an A50 headset. Astro is the superior company by far. I will never purchase another scuf product again.
Before I watch this review, I gotta say I’ve been waiting on this review ever since you asked if you should review it. I bought and returned the first vantage so I’m interested to hear your thoughts because you do excellent work bro. I highly regard your reviews. Now to the video.... 🤓🎮
I have had my vantage 2 fir about two weeks now and i love the controller its better than my vantage 1 and it doesn't have dead zone like my 1 did thanks for the honest review though
bought the vantage 2 two weeks ago and it's been working perfectly for me. i agree the vantage 1 was not perfect but this one feels very different to me, not sure why you're dissing a company you say you respect like that
You can have respect for the work they've put into the field they make products for ie the sheer number of patents and intellectual property they've created and developed. However as a consumer, if the recent products the company has been releasing is less than stellar, are we just supposed to keep our mouth's shut, twiddle our thumbs, and be happy with an inferior device and poor user experience? How does that make sense? Scuf prides themselves for listening to their audience and taking the feedback to make better products. Yet in the last few years their customer service experience has been abysmal, with controllers regularly dying within 6-12 months of purchase, all "covered" by one of the weakest warranties of nearly any 3rd party controller. All of this information can be found in nearly every comment section regarding Scuf, or reddit, or other gaming related forums. Are people supposed to ok with any of that? How are changes made if the people don't voice their issues and frustrations?
Purchased Vantage 2 at GameStop and had it for 2 weeks. I thought I could adapt and get use to the deadzones but man... I loved it but deadzones killed it for me so I sent it back and ordered a custom made Scuf Impact instead. And still using it until this day! Almost a year and loving my impact. Will be getting the Vantage 2 soon because wow! 😍
Hey Air Bear! I've had my Scuf Avenged Vantage for almost 6 months now. I've had no problems until the controller just decided to not function during gameplay of battle royal. In order to fix this, I needed to boot up another controller and then restart my Scuf. After the reset the controller worked fine but before then it just lost all functionality. Besides this hiccup, my Impact R2 button does not work - it crapped out two weeks into getting my Vantage. I know for a fact that I will not be getting the Vantage 2.
Bought the Vantage 1 last year, very dissatisfied with that experience. Then came the Astro c40, loved it until a module failure after 3 months (bruh). Bought the Vantage 2, and surprised to say I’m actually having a good experience with it so far. Just got my Battle Beaver extreme tension module for the c40 yesterday, will be putting that through I it’s paces this weekend. Great insight as always brother.👍🏻
Lol you say you don't have any ill feelings towards scuf yet you like every single negative comment about them, but none of the positive ones... very honnest indeed
I’ve had hardly have had any problems and I been with scuf for 10 years since the Xbox 360 and ps3 controllers . I love scuf and will be with them for years to come .
Well glad my scuf vantage one is still kicking. Ive had it for about a year. It looks like i wont be upgrading i definitely trust your reviews. When i went with the vantage i was shaking from fear that it was gunna be garbage, but i lucked out. I also clean it like crazy cause it seems dust is the leading cause of stick drift with mine. If i let it sit not using it it causes stick drift. Also new console kinda keeps me from even thinking of upgrading and i kinda been focusing on PC now.
AirBear, I have mad respect for you! I literally started following you because of your HONEST review of the Vantage 1 when IGN and so many others were lying and trying to push that controller way too hard. Thanks for your review on this as well!
Still have a Vantage 1 and it's working like a champ! HOWEVER.....I did end up having to send it in once to have them fix a constant disconnecting issue in both USB and Bluetooth mode. I was also having issues with the right trigger not responding to trigger pulls at times, as well as the trigger stops rotating themselves back to their normal "off" positions. Also, the two larger back paddles have broken twice and were replaced once when I sent it in and the second time after I received it! (cheap a$$ plastic...) The whole process took over a month to get it back in my hands and luckily it's been great ever since (aside from the broken rear paddles, that is...)
I bought one from GameStop last week and returned it. I was getting noise complaints from the neighbors every time I got a little savage with the rear paddles. I’m going to be picking up an Elite Series 2 next week.
I appreciate your honesty your reviews are on point. The sucf vantage was the first custome controller ive ever purchased, it was honestly the worst experience ive had buying something online. I had to send it back 3 diffrent times and customer support was responsive but always had no information as far as time frame or and they were generally not helpful. How ever the 3rd time they sent it back it worked great and it turned out to be exactly what i was looking for. It just sucked that it basically took 4 months for themnto get it right.
So... I still have my first Vantage that I use daily frm day one. Had sent it in so Scuf could do the update bc of the drifting issue when I first purchased it, after that it's been working perfectly fine. My only real issue was that every time I played a different game I had to remap the buttons. Once I saw that they came out with the Vantage 2 with A preset to save the mapping I purchased the COD limited edition... Works great... but still waiting for the firmware for the saved presets. WTF Scuf??? We're always waiting for something😤😤😤
I got my vantage in may last year, and I still use it to this day, I've never had issues with it that weren't my own fault. And the only break I've had was the the cord itself. All in all I'm glad I spent the money
I got the Vantage 1 at release and returned it in one week due to an incredible amount of deadzone in the sticks! Switched to the Impact and at the end of the first year the right stick started to “stick” when moving it in almost all directions. A few days ago I purchased my first Battlebeaver and I’m excited to see how that plays out.
1:19 or 1:20 the blue grip I hope u know what I'm talking about what are those paddles or attachments Please tell me if you can what those are. Also do you think I should go with the scuf vatgage 2 or the impact or the new ps4 back button attachment, because I need a controller (could be a normal one) that has paddles cause I play a bit of apex, 2k20 and fortunate so I need paddles. I don't know from the 3 idk which to get, and in not getting the strike pack cause I don't need mods. Please tell me which one
No disrespect, but I would never purchase a Scuf again or if I were in your position, even insinuate that people should go with them. I purchased the four paddle controller and had it customized with colors and all the extras, immediately after I got it I had to send it back because the L3 would keep me locked out of sprint and the hair trigger caused issues with the other buttons as well. I sent it back and received it in about a month, but as it all goes, the same thing plagued the controller soon after it's warranty had ended and they basically told me to cough up more cash and send it in again so they could take another crack at it. Fast forward a month and I decided to let my terrible customer service experience go and try a regular two paddle controller, thinking that it may have just been an overload of features that caused its failure, and fewer items on the controller would give it longevity. I was wrong. L3 once again failed to keep me in sprint and the right rear paddle simply didn't activate after about 3 months. I sent an email blatantly stating that it was the second occurance and that they should remedy the problem without forcing me into their procedures and once again being controllerless. They didn't care, whatsoever, and when I tried to articulate that they're marketing as a gaming company but their hardware is an absolute failure, they simply scoffed and walked away entirely without providing any real explanations. I will absolutely never buy again from Scuf, and any RUclipsrs that do I tend to scold simply because they are collecting a check from Scuf, while actively taking money away from their supporters, which isn't right and should be adequately confronted. I do however praise you for your reviews, and have since bought and been happily using a BattleBeaver.. so in the end, thank you, I wish I would have had more foresight and checked you out sooner.
Sparky _O-13 can you tell me a quick review for the battle beaver? How are the button positioning do you actually prefer it overall over paddles? Is it worth it
@@raymendez3403 I play shooters primarily and the buttons are placed perfectly for my hands. They honestly feel more natural than the paddles imo as well, since you're at a natural grip already. The Scuf felt kinda awkward at most times and I had to acclimate to using them over time. When I ordered my BattleBeaver they were on back order a couple months for a true custom.. but you can buy one of their prefab controllers and it's relatively cheap ($120), plus you get it within a week. I've only had it for a couple months, so I can't vouch for longevity quite yet, but it's the best controller I've used thus far. Plus, being able to put Kontrol Freaks on them is a nice bonus.
I have the same issue. I was able to recalibrate mine and use the outside left clicker button on the bottom as my sprint. its actually something I prefer now over L3. I still agree with you. I should not need to change it up out of fear I'm going to break L3 and that's what I did.
I have both the Vantage 1 and the just got the Vantage 2. I loved my Vantage 1 and when I read the specs of the 2, I was sold. The Vantage 1 that I got in March still works great. I just received my Vantage 2 earlier this week and I can already tell a difference in quality. The thumbsticks are a lot more responsive, the Sax buttons and bumps are way better than the Vantage one. The response is smooth and the buttons themselves don't just feel like the cheap plastic that was on the first Vantage. I am disappointed with Scuf not having the app out for PC since that is what I play on. The controller itself is great, the only thing that I wish you could change is the response of the paddles. I don't like how clicky they are. I wish you could change that and make it more of a smooth press and not a clicky press. But overall, I love Scuf and would recommend it. I know that they are known for giving out, but when you heavily put something to use that is what happens.
I have the vantage 1 and it’s still holding up very well. I had stick drift but I cleaned the analog stick input by pulling back the plastic and in there was a little plastic piece with metal And from there never had stick drift since. So if your having stick drift I suggest you do that and look up on how to do that.
NOTI GANG! Love you guys and thanks for the support! Thoughts and opinions on the new Vantage 2?
NOTI Gang
Even Drift0r switched his sponsorship from Scuf to Astro. I thought that might be of some use. 🤣
AIR BEAR 🐻
i bought this Scuf Vantage 2 on Oct 28, it's on it way being delivered. i will let you know how it is. it is also my first ever modded/pro controller i ever bought. i hope its good. i got tired of my regular DS4 controllers developing stick drift. i bought my ps4 in November 2017 and the stock DS4 and the replacement i bought both got stick drift. from my experience they have about a year before they go bad.
Deadzone ridicule
Bruh can Sony just make there own custom controller
Edit: thanks for the likes holy shit
I just know that controller will be beautiful 😍
Just give up on them they won't😭
They’d make so much money sheesh
@@BillMota i know and it doesnt take nearly as much money to make as they act like it does... its takes like 50 bucks to make the 200 dollars ones and like 30 something to make the base controller... all sony has to do is sell it for 100 dollars and the players will go absolutely insane over it
Deadspace493 but it takes time to make the controllers
I specifically waited for your review since apparently you're the only trustworthy source and everyone else is too busy schilling to tell the truth. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
phillip martin yes this guys a dumbass
@@yungcii i believe he trust worthy cuz he don't get sponsored and buys it like we would so his own money is on the line here
I’ve had Vantage 1 for 7 months and have had ZERO issues. Call me lucky.
xRedRevengerx same with me but after a year Drift started .
Andrew Fitz .... I’m not a bot but ok....
Andrew Fitz ok guy. Keep being cooler than everyone else.
xRedRevengerx Fr bruh like who is this kid??? We just telling people how our experience was with our scuf controllers. Not saying it’ll be the same for everyone... and def not promoting scuf. Imo the strike pack is a way better bang for your buck, but for Competative players scuf controllers would be a better choice.
Immediately watched, last year you saved me from buying scuf vantage, saved me $225, have been subscribed ever since, keep it up man 🙏🏼
Same. I was about to pull the trigger had one almost fully customized in my cart and I stopped myself and said DO RESEARCH. and bam. Scufs suck. Lol
Jesse Gonzalez always do your research
Same
Bought a silver vantage off GameStop and updated the firmware, best controller I've ever owned.
I love mine , feels amazing in hands and I've messed with everything and it works 💯
I got the Scuf Vantage a year ago and it works perfectly, and I've never updated
Richie Cayetano lmao who paid you to say that, everyone knows no Scuf has ever lasted more than 3 months unless you only play couple times a week
Andrew Wolf I’ve had my scuf over a year and I’ve had no problems with it as of this comment. Nobody’s paying me to say this. I’m about as broke as they come
No one payed me, the controller works perfectly
Andrew Wolf maybe just don’t rage so hard and you won’t break a controller 😂😂😂 idk how people fuck theirs up so much and so often, man. It’s legit not that hard, and I play OFTEN haha
But will it work with the ps5 ?
My Scuf Vantage 1 has been working just fine for about a year now. I’ve been using it for PC gaming and it’s still working fine. I’ve had no problems.
RoccoSwr idk man. I’m just as surprised as you.
Mine broke after a month the l2 stick doesn’t work
Edit: The L2 stick is stuck
I actually still have my vantage 1 and it has held up fairly well, but I had a little drift issues at the beginning but it eventually fixed itself and has been my favourite controller ever. If yall have had it break on u that rly sucks but for me if give the original a solid 8.5
OG vantage works amazing for me also a year later, just bought the 2 as well.
Peter Woodaman how is the vantage 2? Compared to other popular scuf controllers?
@@zaydengalvan9660 it is absolutely amazing. Redefined materials, durability and feel. It makes the vantage 1 feel like a piece of shit. And this is coming from someone that LOVES the original vantage.
Peter Woodaman just got the vantage 2 today I still need to get used to the layout and the back paddles but overall a good controller
Same vantage 1 worked perfect for me
Update: I've put down my Vantage for 2 months now and I decided to pick it up last Saturday and so far I've hadn't had the same issues I was having with it before.
I'm having that same problem now
I was having that problem then stopped using the controller and started using it again and it went away.
Man you in the alternate universe or a man in with favor from the gods. Lol
So I just switched to claw, I decided not to trust Scuf anymore, and of course I subscribed to your channel (I owed that to the man who saved me $200)
So that’s my story, I switched to pc Fortnite on mouse and keyboard, and when I do play on PS4, I just use claw grip.
Aside from that everything is all good
Doomafaki actually with my vantage1 I wasn’t able to tighten the trigger without it completely loosing actuation
I’ll just stick with my scuf Infinity Pro until the PlayStation five come out...
PROJECT X hell yes
Best control out there. Especially since the inside paddels are usually uncomfortable to grip or press. The ds4 style sticks with the 2 paddles is perfect.
My right trigger broke :(
My right trigger broke not even two months after purchasing
@@po0922 maybe you throw your controller, im on xbox one and had problems for the RT and LT and it wont press or anything its just hard rock
I've had the Vantage 1 since release, only issue is d pad is wearing out and feeling looser. Other than that no issues and I grind everyday.
Paddle placement is perfect for me... It's just down to the user...
Have you tried other placements though? Not saying the placement isn't what's best for you, but trying other things could lead you to something even better and more comfortable. Ya never know.
I hate the paddle placement on these but I love xbox elite's paddle placement
DubTheG what controller/s would you recommend for a more comfortable paddle setup?
I have a vantage 2 and I love it! I have no problems with it so far except that you can’t use a wired mic while playing wireless
Saii Gooney that’s normal, it has to be plugged in to use a wired headset
What? I have a steelseries wired headset and had no issues using my scuf wireless at the same time. I say had because I returned my scuf since the analog sticks didn't have enough tension and all of the extra buttons were very uncomfortable and hard to get used to. The paddle placement is awful imo.
So you think it's worth getting?
@@TeriyakiDiorNot for the price they are charging. It felt very fragile to me like things could break on it pretty easily.
What's your specs for the controller
I have the vantage and it works fine but a after the first few months the area were you mute the mic would not let me unmute it so I sent it back they fixed it then everything has worked fine since then
i been having my scuf vantage for about a year now i play ten hours a day and no problems no deadzone problems mine must have been built better
I’ve had the vantage one for almost a year, and I’ve had no issues, except I experienced some stick drift a few weeks prior to the firmware update
I have the same problem with my standard controller, I got the vintage 2 controller, but do you think the impact or vintage is better?
"Hwat has be HAILED" 😂 dude said that in CURSIVE. Love your channel bro keep it up.
🤣🤣 Hell Yes

A.j. Oplinger Thats what I like to hear! Haha Thanks for the response!
NeckBeardNick this was what was happening to mine plus I had all the connection issues, I can’t even use the Bluetooth anymore
Same exact thing. I just got the vantage 2 and am really hoping it works the way it should. I got my vantage 1 in August and the L3 started going bad about 2 weeks ago.
I am now on my 4th replacement since getting it as a gift last Christmas.
- Stick drift
-Wouldn't charge in Wired mode as directed.
I've got a Vantage. No issues that i couldn't fix so far. Owned it for 6 months now.
Lol I was watching this video at 3am and I was shook when my comment showed up at 3:39. Nice review dude, I ended up getting the Astro C40 but I might give Scuf another shot.
Amir Paydar lmao that’s sick
I have the vantage 1 for a little over a month and I’m loving it. Are you gonna get the new thrust master controller? That’s the one I want to get
Can we get a updated video of what went out
I bought a scuf vantage a few months ago, I received the controller with the face plate and rumbles separated from the box and rolling around loosely.
Can You Do A Review on The Razer Raiju
I have had my scuff vantage for almost a year now and mine is working great.
Dan Diehr lucky you but soon it won’t wanna work well
Pre-ordered Vantage 1, hit with drifting and dead-zone problems out of the box.
I’ve had my vantage for 2 and a half months with no issues I might’ve just gotten lucky though
Just wait till you regret
I just bought mine I hope it goes well
Steve ! How is it going? I’ve had 6 (Vantage’s). And I just got my first (Vantage 2) two days ago.
Phader2 I still don’t go it, it arrives this Wendsday.
Steve ! Ohhhh my bad I read your comment like “I have it, I hope it continues to go well” at first.
i have roughly 5k hours of gaming on PC with my scuff vantage 1 wired/wireless model and its still going strong havent needed a new controller in almost 3 years when it breaks ill probably get a vantage but everyone has different experiences great content !
I have the vantage 1 . Used it and updated it and worked great .
Hey it's been 5 months since your comment, how's the vantage 2? Really interested to hear about it
I bought my scuf vantage 2 the mw edition for over a year now, and I’m not so into the customized controllers and how they impact on gaming but when I started using it for shooting games it was very comfortable and with a quick response and it helped when I modified the back buttons and how the sticks are set up compared to the regular ps4 control. So in my opinion it’s a good controller for someone that had never played with a customizable device. Great review on your part!!
I would like to hear what you think of the Thrustmaster eSwap pro controller to see if its any good. Good video!
Dude do your self a favour and listen to the advice on offer, avoid all these trash 3rd party motherboard controllers. They all have similar problems that stock DS4s dont suffer from .
Boi that shit ass look at it
@@iseeyotoes6739 "Boi that shit ass" quality comment here folks
Had my scuf impact for 2 years and it’s still working wonderfully! Before that I had an infinity for a few years. Never had problems with scuf
Jake Stidham Scud 🤣🤣🤣😩
Osiris X TV haha solid typo!
#ad
MiloTaterTots nope... just a customer who hasn’t had many issues. Although, my back paddles break way too frequently in my opinion. I now have the Scuf Vantage 2 and can say it’s the best they’ve made (with the exception of the brittle paddles)
Jake Stidham I’m joking
Never bought a Vantage because I had a Scuf Infinity with paddle actuators that stopped working after 1 month of light play, then decided to upgrade to Scuf Impact because Scuf gave me an extra discount, but the controller I bought didn't work from day 1. The right thumbstick had insane stick drift and felt like they tightened it 10x the amount it should have been. I immediately sent it back for a full refund and switched to battle beaver and haven't looked back since. You get a higher quality product for less money.
You gonna review the Xbox Elite controller 2?
I’m not here for the vantage I’m here to support my boy air bear make sure you sub and like
I bought the Scuf Vantage from GameStop, and returned it the next day.
I returned my vantage 4 times stick drift every single time and my left stick stopped working on 2 of them using the c40 now
saxey8 sent mine in one time and luckily it came back perfect, haven’t had a single issue since, i think it’s bull shit that you can’t use a head set unless you’re wired tho.
Was it the Vantage 1 or 2??
Your honest opinions are the reason I got a AIM controller. You have the best gaming reviews
Vantage 1 lasted four months. I've now had the vantage 2 for a week and the thumbsticks feel tighter than the Vantage 1.
If my Vantage 2 shits out quick I'm never buying another Scuf controller again.
@Mix something tells e this guy throws/drops his controllers
Just don't buy another you can actually spend your money on something useful
I bought my vantage 1 about a month it released and it definitely did have a dead zone and then it wouldn’t allow me to sprint in COD so I put it down and went back to a reg controller. But then they released an update for it and I tried it out again and works perfectly fine for me now. Glad I kept it bc again these controllers aren’t cheap.
I’ve had my vantage 1 mine since April and it is still working perfectly except I dropped it and the trigger stop on the r2 broke off
F
Imagine dropping an almost $200 controller
Felt that smh, the same thing happened to me👎
Same with my scuf impact my little brother wanted to try then he dropped it on the 3rd day of me having it and now I only have trigger stop on l2 lol 😂
Great video. That’s exactly what I love about your controller reviews.
Been waiting for this as I've always wanted a scuf. Looks like I'll wait. Great editing and quality btw

Hey airbear keep the great work up man.
bought the vantage 2 two weeks ago and it's been working perfectly for me. i agree the vantage 1 was not perfect but this one feels very different to me, not sure why you're dissing a company you say you respect like that
You can have respect for the work they've put into the field they make products for ie the sheer number of patents and intellectual property they've created and developed.
Crazy hearing everyones different experiences! Thanks for the input
Thanks brother that means a lot!
I've had to send mine in five times I'm sending back out tomorrow and have to spend 30 buck and get the MW but I really think it will be trash also
When you have to send back in your controller 5 times it's time to get a refund
If you send a controller in to be fixed five times, I'm sorry but you're an idiot.
My Vantage one is still working perfectly but like he said it’s overwhelming how many people it’s malfunctioned on
I got the Vantage 1 at release and returned it in one week due to an incredible amount of deadzone in the sticks! Switched to the Impact and at the end of the first year the right stick started to “stick” when moving it in almost all directions. A few days ago I purchased my first Battlebeaver and I’m excited to see how that plays out.
Got mine in feb 2019 and its dec 2019
And Just started dying on me. On my way to GameStop now since i got the 1 year warranty. Smh
Dying? Whahowwhatwhewhawehowwhaa??????????
1:19 or 1:20 the blue grip I hope u know what I'm talking about what are those paddles or attachments
Please tell me if you can what those are.
Definitely get the PS4 back button attachment. It is cheap, durable, and functions perfectly.
Also I think only 2 extra buttons are needed for any game really, that's why I think the PS4 attachment is best
@@apache8327 thank you so much
@@anshvaishnav8289 Anytime bro
Air Bear: So scuff just sponsored me...
LMAO that will never happen 🤣
I have the vantage 1 and it’s still holding up very well. I had stick drift but I cleaned the analog stick input by pulling back the plastic and in there was a little plastic piece with metal
And from there never had stick drift since. So if your having stick drift I suggest you do that and look up on how to do that.
