SCUF Has announced a firmware update to fix the target issues with the Vantage. If your still having issues with your Vantage after the update you'll have to go through SCUF's technical support team.

Xbox Elite controller is the way to go. Just get the scuff hand grips for the back of the controller and you’re set. The stock hand grips for the elite are complete garbage.

@Jonathan Soko Not everyone has the patients to deal with PC gaming. I have a pc myself(1050Ti) and there are issues that come with pc gaming that some people don't feel lile dealing with. Your games can crash for a completely different reason that a consoles will and there could be millions of other reasons as to why it happened and after spending hours of searching you learn it had nothing to do with what you 1st thought it was.

I recently got a PlayStation 4; I still have my Xbox and I will probably always be more of an Xbox guy, but none-the-less I was happy to have a PlayStation to have games like Spider-Man. Never having a PlayStation before, I prefer to have my thumb sticks at different levels rather than the same height (whatever technical term it is), and I was looking for a new controller and I found the Scuf controller, but after watching this video, it gives me a new perspective. Thank you!
I called in to Scuf to find out if the dead zone was on purpose I was told “the engineers designed it that way”. I was floored. Told the rep that makes absolutely no sense, and that it completely negates the benefit of low input lag. Returning my controller immediately

Unfortunately, I already bought mine and have spent a weekend experimenting with various customizations in search of a comfortable setup (I hope my hand soreness is only due to not being used to offset sticks..). I’ve experienced the button remap wipe and Bluetooth frustrations. I don’t THINK I have dead zone issues.. Anyway, thank you for this presentation. Stay honest ✊
Same I've experienced the button remapping problem and it only occurs when my controller dies and I have to re-sync it to the playstation. But I've tried wired only and it seems to be working just fine, really crisp and I dont notice any dead zone issues
Update: my left thumb doesn’t get sore anymore, but the grip still feels a bit awkward for me. I think my thumb is too short and consequently grip it too high. Secondly, I just noticed recently that every once in a while, the right stick would internally magnetize to a specific direction (I think left) at neutral position, making the camera turn constantly. I was using a Kontrol Freek on a concave. I since replaced it the stick with a long domed one and haven’t experienced the directional sticking...yet.
The dead zone issue is actually really obnoxious. I couldn’t even realize it at first but now I notice it constantly. Especially when trying to make micro adjustments with sniping

Great perspective on the controller. I also have just sent an email to Scuf asking to return my controller. bluetooth connectivity is awful, there is tremendous input lag with the controller, my controller always auto turns on my ps4 regardless if it is in rest mode or completely turned off, my right thumbstick's dead spot is very noticeable, and I constantly have to remap the controller functions as well. It's unfortunate because I had high hopes for the controller, hopefully their updated product works much better, especially with the $200+ price tag. GREAT REVIEW!!!!
TurboGamer I suggest getting a scuf impact it has 4 paddles, cool designs and I’ve had mine since April. Also I’m a hardcore gamer as long as you don’t slam it, it’ll be fine.
battlebeaver is more reliable ...but their waiting time is kinda long these days but quality is better ..i have a battlebeaver ....a scuff and 3 elites ... only the BB is working well ..i play on xbox though
I paid for the wireless. Which doesn’t work. My R2 is squeaky. My trigger stoppers just release randomly. My scuff wire that came with the controller stopped working. The paddles are so hard to click that there almost useless. The sound bar at the bottom everytime I touch it the red light comes on and my mic mutes it self. The vibrator weights come loose on there own. But, my analog sticks are so smooth. And the remapping works well. I don’t get dead zone. But I do wish you could turn on the play station with the controller. I paid 295 after customizing. So I also wish it was a lot cheaper.
You're DEFINITELY in the minority lol I've had 3 and resoldered multiple analogs, replaced bumper bridge on 2 of them, did repairs to stop the sticks from wiggling freely or dropping into the face of the controller when held upside down AND the paddles are loose and feel cheaply seated (by feel I mean I know they are cause I've tore down 3 of them so far and it's just a tiny weak magnet holding them in.)
Microsoft Xbox Elite Controllers are notorious for falling apart under normal use conditions. The grips fall off, the bumpers stop working and fall out, even the sticks are imprecise due to their assembly. For the price, these controllers should hold up much better than they do

I was seriously about to spend 200 on the vantage. I'm glad I waited to see some reviews first. If they fix all these issues I'll get one but not anytime soon.
I don't think that's the case I think the majority of Vantage controllers are fine my first Scuf product and it works amazingly well. Looks sweet with the black faceplate and red or green accessories too. Other than the cost no complaints.
My friend just shared this video with me. I was planning on buying one of these controllers during the Black Friday sales. I have been using a Scuf since 2013 and have loved the controllers I've used every step of the way. I just recently bought a PS4 so the Scuf is on my list of things to buy and I was definitely going to buy the Vantage. After seeing this video, I will most likely buy an Impact or Infinity. Just as an FYI if you get a Cronusmax you can view the inputs to get number accurate readings of Deadzone. Every single controller has some kind of deadzone built in, normally at around 20 out of 100 input. This is to stop unwanted stick drift as the resting point of an analogue stick is very rarely perfectly 0 across the board. My Xbox One controllers (Scuf, Elite and Original controllers) all start showing in-game movements at 21 or 22 points of input (using Destiny 2 as a sign of input), whereas my official PS4 controller doesn't show movement until 23 points. Either way all the controllers are pretty much on point with each other and the Vantage here still looks way off. Would definitely recommend looking into getting a device monitor of some kind though. Having actual numbers behind the issues would help people understand a bit better I think.
I bought a SCUF Vantage. It’s super buggy, the thumb stick rubber is slippery (IMO, it’d be cool if companies had the textured style thumb sticks instead of putting rubber on them), the left rumble pack has never worked, and the one faceplate I got with it constantly “clicks” and shifts around a bit. Not what you’d expect from an ULTRA EXPENSIVE controller. Does the CronusMax have any issues? Is it a decent alternative to using a DualShock 4 controller? Have you had any connectivity, lag, input, compatibility, or setup issues while using it? I wish I could use an Xbox One controller. I have a genetic syndrome that causes the joints in my hands to not work correctly. I need offset thumb sticks and a larger controller like the Xbox’s in order to game. There’s a bunch of info online. I’m just curious what someone who uses one regularly thinks of it. If I can use an Xbox controller with my PS4, I’ll buy a CronusMax immediately.
Wesley Godon update your vantage and put the left rumble all the way in. And no Cronusmax isn’t a controller its a program that shows controller info such as dead zones
I appreciate you testing the deadzones in a video as this was my biggest concern. Was debating the Vantage vs the impact before ordering. I now know I'm refunding my pre-order (from gamestop which my local store still has not received) and ordering an impact, just don't want to deal with all the issues. Just really sucks it wont be in for bo4 release. :/
ya vibezz i have had one for almost a year of heavy use and had none of those problems idk how u take care of controllers but after a year of heavy use everything still works flawlessly all bottom paddles are perfect everything no problem remapping ever !!! When you have a $200 controller you gotta take care of it and ppl break shit and then bitch at the company cause its not durable enough or somethin like ehh if u see how most ppl take care of controllers its pretty ease to see how they are having problems

Big kudos to you and your honesty. So many people feel the need to to say positive things about Scuf items in general, perhaps in hopes of getting things in return, or sponsorship etc. However you can find users across the internet have issues and are generally not happy with Scuf customer support. Now we're finally given the chance for an Elite controller for the PS4 and it's a complete flop. So many people keep saying just wait till Sony releases their own...this is "their own." People don't know Microsoft had to pay Scuf for their IP & patents to make the Elite, but instead of doing that, Sony simply let Scuf run the show and put a Sony label on it as an officially licensed product; which means it wouldn't make sense for Sony to turn around and pay Scuf for the IP/Patents they need to remake an all new controller (that's like paying twice for the same thing). However, since Scuf screwed this up in such a major way, perhaps Sony might actually end up paying Scuf for the tech, keep the development in house just like Microsoft did, and release a proper Elite controller. Keep up the honest reviews man, your channel will only get bigger by doing so.
Had to sub and like bro, treated myself for my birthday / Christmas. Literally had it for 12 days and the drift on the thumbsticks is so bad you can't even sprint or land. Thanks for highlighting it on fortnite and keeping it 100!
I disagree with the side, sax buttons being useless. I play COD and have my left mapped to the scoreboard and the right one mapped to the right on my D-Pad to activate score streaks while playing BO3 (Treyarch did change this to triangle on BO4). Also, I don’t think it’s very easy to by accident activate the sax buttons ESPECIALLY so when the buttons are taken off. Virtually impossible for me to by accident hit them while the buttons are taken off
Yeah I agree idk what he's saying about accidentally hitting them. May not be the best controller but he seems to be looking for bad reasons just to get clicks.
I got my vantage the next day when I ordered through gamestop. I love the controller and have had no issues at all. All my remapping stays the same, it turns my ps4 off and on, and the sticks feel fine to me. Update: I tested my controller and there was noticeable deadzone. Scuf posted on twitter saying they are going to release a fix. I went back to my scuf impact and immediately saw improvement. The vantage is just sitting in its case now. If I knew this was going to happen I would have waited for the problems to get fixed.

I got the vantage. If you dont play shooter it's a good controller but otherwise the deadzone are way too inconsistent goin from 0>10 instantly we all have that weird dead zone . Its depends whether or not you realize it or u dont play enough game were aiming is important.
I think Im experiencing input lag. I though it just was the new thumbsticks at first but then I played more and more and the controller felt delayed but now that im saldy used to it I can't tell.

FYI Anytime you said that any controller had no deadzone was a false statement. Controllers always have a small built-in deadzone because of two main reasons. First, the sensors are good enough to pick up even the smallest movements (like simply resting your fingers on the analog sticks) which without a small deadzone would cause a lot of accidental movement. Second, analog sticks overtime become off center which again without dead zones would cause unintended movement (you ever had the issue of infinite turning/walking? that's when the sticks become off-centered beyond the deadzone). This mistake wasnt a big deal just thought you might want to know.

I just bought my Scuf last week. It’s pretty good so far and hope it stays that way. I wonder after a year it’s been out they’ve fixed the problems already, seems to be the case but I could be wrong
yup i bought my vantage online gamestop and returned it at the store. its not a good controller for all these reasons plus my personal issues. i got a regular controller from ps4. i cant believe sony put there stamp on this. they need to make an in house elite controller. ps4 controller in my opinion is the best then the 360
Reazon Giovanni if you’re looking for paddles man check our the FPS dominator. $40 and will add paddles to your DualShock 4 that’s what I’ve been using while I’ve been having issues with the scuf vantage
Ps controller's are the worst for fps gaming. That's why the majority of ps players are pretty terrible at fps titles. I use my xbox elite controller and wipe the floor with people on ps. Xbox has much better competition when it comes to shooters. I like the off set sticks. Much better control over movement. I feel like the ps controller's are cramped. Made for women and children with tiny hands. Very uncomfortable to use

Rmf 22 dang. maybe im just unlucky. i use to have an xbox 360, then an xbox one. never had any issues whats so ever w any of those controllers. but i was given a ps4 because my xbox was stolen. and all 6 controllers ive had, have broken. and every one of them had a problem with the right thumbstick
So far the only issue I've had is the left stick is a little long for me in it's current position. I'm gonna try to get the shorter stick when it becomes available to see if that makes it useable.

I know this video is several months old, so your opinion may have changed since the firmware updates, but post update -- I've had zero issues. The Vantage is still my go to controller. I hope the issues you had have been resolved, because I love this controller.
I bought this controller at GameStop and I never thought I had problems with it until half a year and all the problems u said I though it was maybe me being hard on my controller, but I literally took the best care of my controller
AIM is a good I just don’t like the plastic paddles. Both sides of the them snapped off but the actually button under the paddles still worked so I had to tape them back. Hope this helps
I wanted to personally thank you for this honest review. I have a scuf that ive used for a long time and love. Having heard they put out a new controller, I was stoked. Was about to pull the trigger on buying it until i heard some negative feedback. I came across your video and if it wasnt for you I waould have HATED Scuf as a company and I would have went to their compettitor the Razer Raiju and would not have looked back once. TurboGamer I suggest getting a scuf impact it has 4 paddles, cool designs and I’ve had mine since April. Also I’m a hardcore gamer as long as you don’t slam it, it’ll be fine.

I paid for the wireless. Which doesn’t work. My R2 is squeaky. My trigger stoppers just release randomly. My scuff wire that came with the controller stopped working. The paddles are so hard to click that there almost useless. The sound bar at the bottom everytime I touch it the red light comes on and my mic mutes it self. The vibrator weights come loose on there own. But, my analog sticks are so smooth. And the remapping works well. I don’t get dead zone. But I do wish you could turn on the play station with the controller. I paid 295 after customizing. So I also wish it was a lot cheaper.

Bought an Xbox Elite controller over 6 months ago, and it's the best controller I've ever used.
You're DEFINITELY in the minority lol I've had 3 and resoldered multiple analogs, replaced bumper bridge on 2 of them, did repairs to stop the sticks from wiggling freely or dropping into the face of the controller when held upside down AND the paddles are loose and feel cheaply seated (by feel I mean I know they are cause I've tore down 3 of them so far and it's just a tiny weak magnet holding them in.)

Microsoft Xbox Elite Controllers are notorious for falling apart under normal use conditions. The grips fall off, the bumpers stop working and fall out, even the sticks are imprecise due to their assembly. For the price, these controllers should hold up much better than they do

I don't think that's the case I think the majority of Vantage controllers are fine my first Scuf product and it works amazingly well. Looks sweet with the black faceplate and red or green accessories too. Other than the cost no complaints.

I have been using a Scuf since 2013 and have loved the controllers I've used every step of the way. I just recently bought a PS4 so the Scuf is on my list of things to buy and I was definitely going to buy the Vantage. After seeing this video, I will most likely buy an Impact or Infinity. Just as an FYI if you get a Cronusmax you can view the inputs to get number accurate readings of Deadzone.
Every single controller has some kind of deadzone built in, normally at around 20 out of 100 input. This is to stop unwanted stick drift as the resting point of an analogue stick is very rarely perfectly 0 across the board.
My Xbox One controllers (Scuf, Elite and Original controllers) all start showing in-game movements at 21 or 22 points of input (using Destiny 2 as a sign of input), whereas my official PS4 controller doesn't show movement until 23 points.
Either way all the controllers are pretty much on point with each other and the Vantage here still looks way off.
Would definitely recommend looking into getting a device monitor of some kind though. Having actual numbers behind the issues would help people understand a bit better I think.

I bought a SCUF Vantage. It’s super buggy, the thumb stick rubber is slippery (IMO, it’d be cool if companies had the textured style thumb sticks instead of putting rubber on them), the left rumble pack has never worked, and the one faceplate I got with it constantly “clicks” and shifts around a bit. Not what you’d expect from an ULTRA EXPENSIVE controller.
Does the CronusMax have any issues?
Is it a decent alternative to using a DualShock 4 controller?

I wish I could use an Xbox One controller. I have a genetic syndrome that causes the joints in my hands to not work correctly. I need offset thumb sticks and a larger controller like the Xbox’s in order to game.

I appreciate you testing the deadzones in a video as this was my biggest concern. Was debating the Vantage vs the impact before ordering. I now know I'm refunding my pre-order (from gamestop which my local store still has not received) and ordering an impact, just don't want to deal with all the issues. Just really sucks it wont be in for bo4 release. :/

ya vibezz i have had one for almost a year of heavy use and had none of those problems idk how u take care of controllers but after a year of heavy use everything still works flawlessly all bottom paddles are perfect everything no problem remapping ever !!! When you have a $200 controller you gotta take care of it and ppl break shit and then bitch at the company cause its not durable enough or somethin like ehh if u see how most ppl take care of controllers its pretty ease to see how they are having problems

Big kudos to you and your honesty. So many people feel the need to to say positive things about Scuf items in general, perhaps in hopes of getting things in return, or sponsorship etc. However you can find users across the internet have issues and are generally not happy with Scuf customer support.
Now we're finally given the chance for an Elite controller for the PS4 and it's a complete flop. So many people keep saying just wait till Sony releases their own...this is "their own." People don't know Microsoft had to pay Scuf for their IP & patents to make the Elite, but instead of doing that, Sony simply let Scuf run the show and put a Sony label on it as an officially licensed product; which means it wouldn't make sense for Sony to turn around and pay Scuf for the IP/Patents they need to remake an all new controller (that's like paying twice for the same thing).
However, since Scuf screwed this up in such a major way, perhaps Sony might actually end up paying Scuf for the tech, keep the development in house just like Microsoft did, and release a proper Elite controller.
Keep up the honest reviews man, your channel will only get bigger by doing so.

I disagree with the side, sax buttons being useless. I play COD and have my left mapped to the scoreboard and the right one mapped to the right on my D-Pad to activate score streaks while playing BO3 (Treyarch did change this to triangle on BO4). Also, I don’t think it’s very easy to by accident activate the sax buttons ESPECIALLY so when the buttons are taken off. Virtually impossible for me to by accident hit them while the buttons are taken off
Yeah I agree idk what he's saying about accidentally hitting them. May not be the best controller but he seems to be looking for bad reasons just to get clicks.
I got my vantage the next day when I ordered through gamestop. I love the controller and have had no issues at all. All my remapping stays the same, it turns my ps4 off and on, and the sticks feel fine to me.
Update: I tested my controller and there was noticeable deadzone. Scuf posted on twitter saying they are going to release a fix. I went back to my scuf impact and immediately saw improvement. The vantage is just sitting in its case now. If I knew this was going to happen I would have waited for the problems to get fixed.

I got the vantage. If you dont play shooter it's a good controller but otherwise the deadzone are way too inconsistent goin from 0>10 instantly we all have that weird dead zone . Its depends whether or not you realize it or u dont play enough game were aiming is important.

FYI Anytime you said that any controller had no deadzone was a false statement. Controllers always have a small built-in deadzone because of two main reasons. First, the sensors are good enough to pick up even the smallest movements (like simply resting your fingers on the analog sticks) which without a small deadzone would cause a lot of accidental movement. Second, analog sticks overtime become off center which again without dead zones would cause unintended movement (you ever had the issue of infinite turning/walking? that's when the sticks become off-centered beyond the deadzone). This mistake wasnt a big deal just thought you might want to know.
Also, the scuff vantage deadzones are way too big compared too a normal deadzone which is so small is basically unnoticeable

yup i bought my vantage online gamestop and returned it at the store. its not a good controller for all these reasons plus my personal issues. i got a regular controller from ps4. i cant believe sony put there stamp on this. they need to make an in house elite controller. ps4 controller in my opinion is the best then the 360

Ps controller's are the worst for fps gaming. That's why the majority of ps players are pretty terrible at fps titles. I use my xbox elite controller and wipe the floor with people on ps. Xbox has much better competition when it comes to shooters. I like the off set sticks. Much better control over movement. I feel like the ps controller's are cramped. Made for women and children with tiny hands. Very uncomfortable to use

So far the only issue I've had is the left stick is a little long for me in it's current position. I'm gonna try to get the shorter stick when it becomes available to see if that makes it useable.

AIM is a good I just don’t like the plastic paddles. Both sides of the them snapped off but the actually button under the paddles still worked so I had to tape them back. Hope this helps
