My parents painted their kitchen black, but they had a mix-in that was this sparkly silver and it ended up looking amazing. Can't wait to see how it turns out for you!

Agreed, also grew up with wood heat and you definitely want a fan if there's a fireplace.

She doesn’t forget to say it, she chooses not to say it because that’s normal to her. People in Chicago talk that way. There is some weird aversion to the verb “to be” there. Maybe the same thing is commonplace in Cathrin’s childhood town in upstate NY. (At least I think that’s where she was raised.)
Hey hun, you should consider using glass panes for your upper stair rail, that way it won't take away from your beautiful living dining area.

Girl you are so patient. All those hiccups would have me in a state, your mindset power is inspiring.
It cracks me up how hard some people want to assert their opinions on style stuff. Is it really that tough to say "not my taste, but I'm glad you like it"? If you wanted to paint the whole dang living room matte black and then outline the beams in neon like it's a futuristic cyberpunk dystopia, it's your house and your sweat equity. Good gravy. (though now that I think about it... neon??? KIDDING).
Well she did say she wanted to go with the vibe of the house as well. I’d LOVE a 70s home, but I was a teenager then! 😝

In my opinion, I recommend that you keep the ceiling fan in the living room. Air circulation is extremely important with tall vaulted ceilings like yours. Especially in the winter is your heating system is pumping out heat. It all rises to the top of that ceiling where you can’t feel it. You can walk into that room and it will feel colder than the other rooms. however you turn the fan on even low just so that pulls that air down from the top and the cooler up from the bottom it will evenly heat and cool the room better.
I agree with this 1000%. My previous home had vaulted ceilings in the living room and we did not have a ceiling fan. Our AC ran nonstop trying to cool the room off, and in return, the rest of the house was freezing. I highly recommend as a fellow Alabama resident who hates how hot/humid the summers are here.
I'm doing my bedroom mostly black and one side of my hallway. Black can look stunning.
I'm renovating 2/3rd's of my house right now, supposed to be done the 2nd week of Jan. but its been so stressful and so expensive doing this. I commend you for living and doing this massive project! So excited to see it done!

Don’t waste your money refinishing your shower. Use Rustoleum tub & tile paint. I used it in my bathroom 3 years ago & it still looks brand new. $40 ish on Amazon. You’ll love it. 💕

@cathrin just make sure you sand really well and you have no leaking water. Mine peeled after 6 months because we had a faucet leak start while it was curing. I wasn’t home.
@@welcometotheweavers Mine looks great. I let it sit for 4 days before introducing water. Maybe that’s the difference. I’m getting ready to do a second bathroom now. Fingers crossed 💕
