- let's talk about the state of this new (to me) house... I knew going in that it was going to require a lot of cosmetic work but the inspection really helped me to understand the scope of this project and the underlying problems that need to be addressed.

1. Plan towards it
2. Be Frugal and minimal on spending ( don't buy why you don't need)
3. Save money towards retirement
(Roth IRA/401k)
4. Build an emergency fund
5 . Invest! Save to invest, this is most important because it's a proven way to get richer. Very important to financial success

Your dad sounds so sweet! You're so lucky to have him! My dad passed away in 2007, and I wish I still had him around to help me since I'll be purchasing my first home at the end of the year.
My dad passed in 2014 miss him so much. He would be so proud of me
This story reminds me of a house my husband and I almost bought last year that was a fixer upper on the edge of a 60 acre forest near Washington DC that needed a lot of work(but all stuff we could manage). It had a septic tank which required its own inspection. Found out that the septic tank was CAVING IN which would require $40,000 to fill in and switch to main sewer line. Then the seller and their agent got shady...Luckily we were able to get out of that contract and found a home we love! It was a wild/ unexpected situation though. Maybe I'll make a video to share my experience. You never know what issues you might run into trying to buy a house UNTIL THEY SMACK YOU IN THE FACE or learn from other people's experiences lol Thanks for sharing ❤
