I owned everything except for the Sealion. Fond memories of my Grandparents who came up with these toys. One of the greatest memories of my childhood and by far my favourite Action Force Team. Many thanks for this Clip! 👍🏻😉✌🏻😎🤠
As ever an excellent video. Nice touch with the fish. As a kid Z and SAS Forces were the go to for battles, but as time goes by Q Force really grows on you. Beyond looks, Sealion is surely as iconic as Roboskull, the design is incredible for a toy. I was very lucky to have one. Great toy.
One of my earliest toy buying memories was picking out the Swordfish in a local toyshop for Christmas in... I think '83. Got Blowtorch and Torpedo at the same time. A rucked up quilt became land and the blue mattress sheet became the sea. Good times.
As always, Tony provides a comprehensive and professional mini documentary, this time focussing on the amazing Q Force range of Action Force figures and vehicles! And thanks to Tony and his incredible hard work in researching, writing, filming and presenting this latest episode of Analog Toys, the Q Force is now at the top of my wants list!
While I'm annoyed that such a great line (one of the best, it seems) existed while I was a kid without me hearing of it until the last few years, I love the fact that there are still such great surprises out there. Who knows what's waiting just around the next corner.
I just finished watching your series on Action Force (yes yes I saw part 5 first so shoot me) Great. I was too old to play but I can see the appeal. More retro toys, Tony.
Thank you very much for the info and hard work, I really appreciate it. I made 2 customs based on the action force line because I like the sculpt of the figures, a red shadow and a infantry man
Great video, Tony. I remember getting the Sealion at Hamleys on my very first ever trip to London. I think it must have been 1982 or 83. One of the best ever action force vehicles, but like all my Action Force collection, sadly long gone! And I can just imagine some Star Wars collectors asking whether the elastic band on the deep sea diver figure is genuine or repro LOL!!!!! They are an insane bunch, aren't they!
You know what Larry, I just love it when I see you in the comments because as a fellow Brit and long long long time viewer of yours it's just great knowing your watching the same stuff!! I'm the one who had the cousin who worked on SuperTed that we have talked about before!! All the best mate.
Oh how I love seeing these as things like that blinking rubber band is something that I had completely forgotten about!!! But the nostalgia is immense. I do still own a few Action Force figures but like so many, the accessories are long gone. Thanks for the fantastic video Tony.
These guys met a chalky fate in the southern England bathwater of my childhood playtime - loved them. Your videos are getting better and better Tony. The diorama work is A game. Loved the fish tank shot 😆
I had a couple of the action force figures when I was younger but never played with them because of the limited articulations as I was more into G.I. Joe/Action Force. Being older I can now appreciate these figures more.
Hey Tony, cool video again, as always. Q Force was my favourite allied team from series 2, and just started collecting it again. Nice to see my series 3 AF Sealion making an appearance near the end, still my favourite vehicle of all AF lines. Nice one again.
Hi Tony, regarding the Q Force Sonar Officer 'Phones' and his weapon. According to Bob Brechin the rifles were produced initially in full, with the barrel and muzzle intact, but they quite quickly realised that it didn't fit in the smaller of the two accessory bubbles on the card, the larger bubble being used by the radio pack. So at first they had the packing line staff trim the muzzle off the rifles by hand with snips to get them to fit, but this left a thin bar with a sharp point on the barrel tip. So they moved to trimming off the whole barrel and muzzle instead. So this is why the rifle can be found in three variants: Original full version, trimmed off muzzle, and trimmed off barrel and muzzle (as shown in your version in your video). The full untrimmed version is quite hard to find, whereas the other too are fairly easy. Great video though, cheers.
8:13 that prototype looks pretty neat. Palitoy should have repurposed it and other prototypes as Red Shadow crafts. Rather than let such creations go to waste. Toy lines are always fun when one side has a craft to contend with the others.
Been looking forward to the new Action Force video and Q Force does not disappoint. I think that they could have recolored that mini sub prototype with the manipulator arms and then give it to the Red Shadows.
A repainted S.H.A.R.C would have looked cool in q-force colors would have been cool, maybe call it the Q-Force Dolphin and have a Recolor of Deep Six called Fathom. As for the Red Shadows sea force I'd say a Cobra Water Moccasin in Red called the Strike Shark and the Pilot would be a Copperhead recolor called Monsoon.
Awesome reviews!! I wish we would have gotten those Action Force vehicles and figures in the United States. That Sea Lion prototype with arms is amazing. I hope that we see these vehicles rereleased in the future. (Especially that Proto-type Sea Lion with robot arms).
I just discovered your channel yesterday and I have been binging since. Thank you for that huge nostalgia wave. I sold my GI Joe and AF toys some 10 years ago, and am okay with that, although I do sometimes miss them, like after watching all these videos. What I still remember from my youth is that here in the Netherlands, we had GI Joe toys, and after one or two years of collecting, one of our toy stores started selling Action Force blister packs with 4 figures, including actual GI Joe and AF-version GI Joe figures, like Ace from the GI Joe Tomcat, but also red Cobra/Red Baron troopers, and the (to my younger self horrible) Star Wars-style figures. These packs were in the bargain bins all the time they were sold, I think, so I managed to actually build a small army with 4 or 5 red Cobras, and got lots of older figures I never would have gotten otherwise (because my allowance didn't stretch to include all the GI Joe vehicles) Did you make, or would you want to make, a video including these blister packs? I bet they contained an even bigger wealth of figures than I remember! And as a total tangent, may I just say I think that last submersible is awesome, except for that huge floodlight parked next to both d(r)ivers? Like, how would they not be constantly blinded?! Thanks again for the awesome content!
The q force was the first team and vehicles I ever brought in Christmas 83 I got the swordfish the q4 the deep sea defender and sonar operator the other reason i love the q force is the commander is from Glasgow like me
Tony, excellent! Do you think toys like these would be expensive to produce today? The Palitoy specific ones. Would Palitoy be the equivalent of companies like Valaverse/Action Force today? I still believe the loss of Palitoy R&D was a huge loss to the toy industry. Imagine what they might have done in the 90s?? It's funny how stickers provide so much imaginative play value. Thank you. I watch this series about once a year lol
Q Force was always my favourite and the Swordfish my favourite vehicle - my only gripe was it should have been bigger - but restricted due to being the same mould as AF7. If you unscrew the attached base parts, it reveals AF7's winch!
Another excellent video, Mr. Tony! Appreciate the history of Action Force. The Sealion seemed a precursor to Hasbro's Cobra Bugg & Hammerheads, massive subs with mini submarine units. Can't wait to see the finale that focuses on the S. A. S. . Wonder if Palitoy had to deal with issues about its depiction, given the level of secrecy of the real life 22 SASR.
The Sea Lion is stout, and undersized for what expectations would be. However, the design is on point, many features, and does skirt that line between futuristic but practical many Joe offerings had trouble with later.
The sealion was one of the best vehicles ever produced for the range there was so many play features on that vehicle not to mention the fact it was perfect for use with gi joe figures as well
Glad to see Action Force got a inflatable Zodiac raft. Even if it looks a bit odd. ARAH didn't get one for the good guys until the 2000s. And it was a remold of the Cobra Raft. I thank you for educating me on Action Force. I don't think you know how much I hope to get Action Force, Funskool, Brazilian, and Canadian troops and vehicles someday to add to my forces of Joes, Cobras, and other 1/18 figures someday. Especially Kraken and the flying Skull. When the Iron Bloods and Cobra join forces, the Joes and Action Men better be afraid! Cobraaaaa! 😆🐍
Good stuff again Tony - I always liked Q-Force, probably because of their colour scheme... Space force is the one that didn't interest me! Shame they never made any Aqua Shadows or vehicle though!
I always thought that the 'Q' came from WW1 Q-ships? I always loved the fact that Action Force was a supposedly international organisation but was led by 3 Brits and an American? I always loved the Q-force scuba gear, very Jules Verne. I think the Shadowtrack was supposed to be amphibious but yes, Baron Ironblood lacked maritime forces.
OMGoodness! Tony, fantabulous review of a necessary team, considering the water separating the UK from the rest of the world! All of the vehicles are great, and the figures look beautiful! This review brings bittersweet feelings about the state of toys today. My youngest son would not relent if Action Force was around today. While the Sea Lion is the jewel, the Swordfish looks much like a futuristic take on modern RHIB Operator vehicles. The Sting Ray still has modern operational value while the Sea Skimmer is a call out to to the 80s stand up Jet Skis. Does the Swordfish have any type of forward interior? I love the "Harpoon" type missiles on the Sea Lion! We had submarine launched Harpoon missiles in the early 90s. We got to launch them on a deployed target vessel and sink it. About a year later, we saw the vessel, salvaged and patched, ready for another go, lol. Do you know if Hasbro received the molds/design prints from Palitoy? A retro Action Force line would sell like hot cakes!!!!! Take care, stay safe!
Boba Stu if you look at the original af 7 the forward part of the swordfish is a piece screwed on to the top there is a space in the front but not enough to put a figure inside you could sit a figure sitting with the head sticking out the side hatch
great video though i think its fair to say that the enemy never needed an underwater vehicle(but one would have been welcome)because the Krakens didn't need any supply lines or shelter with them being natives to the ocean
Jason Jones I think the fact the only enemy q force had was the kraken if they brought out a red shadow vehicle and more enemy navy figures q force would have been a more popular team
What happened to the molds for all of the Action Force line? I seem to remember they smashed them with a sledgehammer which is akin to a war crime. This is the type of toy series that needs to make a return to shelves. I would have killed for a Sea Lion.
Would be the funniest thing ever if he could do a Vintage Strawberry Shortcake feature in the same format he normally uses. I would laugh so hard, probably bust a lung. guaranteed 1 million views :D
Great video thank you. Not sure if youve realised sorry but you have a partial rarer german release Swordfish / TSATT Wellenjet there. The missiles are the darker german release along with the side missile clip being black rather than the standard grey. The german release also had a dark grey platform / figure stand on the lower inside where yours is the "usual" light grey.
The reason that Tony’s swordfish has a dark grey clip is because he owns the German version in the hoth livestream I donated a q force swordfish hull with the radar tower tony swapped the hulls but had to use the German clip
That concept vehicle with the two articulated arms would have been absolutely awesome!

Man I missed out as a kid in the states! These look like a ton of fun!!!
So awesome to see all of them and how they where developed over the years 👍🏾🤙🏼
I wish I had these as a kid. They are so cool.
Q Force ensured that I got a bath as a child!
A cool line of toys I was never even aware of

Great to see Q-Force in their natural environment.
Grear video!
I started collecting these, partially because of your reviews. They are pretty cool!
Wait till you see the z force video
They are brilliant figures.
@@nicholasdickens2801 I agree. I especially like the ones with the 5 points of articulation. They are a little more sturdy.

A slightly belated Happy Birthday 4 years today. Love your channel and it’s a real life saver and great for my mental health! Thank you ♥️
Thanks Nick, so pleased to be able to help!
Such a good series, thanks!
Great video Mate! Can't wait to get this Palitoy vehicle next. I'm almost finished completing my Sealion.
Imagine if Palitoy made a Red Shadow submarine like in the comic. That would have been awesome.
Which story was that? Was it the one with Beaver or the Op Bloodhound story set in the Galapogas?
