    For those wondering,, The leviot offers a top fill option for 20$ more than the bottom fill 👌

  • @Lumimyrsky
    @Lumimyrsky 2 года назад +10

    I own the Levoit one, and I'm absolutely in love with it. Sure the bottom filling can be a little irritating, but all the good things about it just outweighs the fact that I don't fill it from the top. I always recommend this specific model to people that wants a sturdy humidifier with a lot of settings and a big tank. Obviously if a person has arthritis or doesn't have full use of their hands I'd recommend something else entirely, only because of the lifting of the tank and removing the cap in the bottom. No one should be in pain because of a humidifier :P

      Have you had any issues with it leaking? That's the only thing keeping me from going for it, I don't mind bottom filling but I can't have it leaking on my wood furniture

    • @Lumimyrsky
      @Lumimyrsky 2 года назад

      @@neonlights_12 The only time it leaks a few drops is when I remove the tank for a refill. It's because of the valve in the bottom of the tank releasing, but it just falls right into the bottom of the humidifier where water is already accumulated for the humidifier to produce the 'steam' :) I have mine on a wooden table as well and there's not even any marks.

    I have the Levoit and I actually don't mind the bottom filling because when I go to refill it I also get a good look at the rest of the machine to see how clean/dirty it is and that helps me determine if I need to clean it sooner or later.

    I have the Elechomes. I bought this one because visually I don't like the clear kind and the white blends in beautifully (is hardly noticeable) in my mostly white room. I also like the rounded lines of it which gives it a sleeker appearance. Finally, I have a bottom fill also (in storage) top fill is easier.

    I have the fourth humidifier that he showed. I love it. I never have to move the tank, just take my RO water jug and pour it right in.
    RO water is great cuz I almost never have to clean the atomizer. Warm mist has been great in the winter and yes, having the heating option on does make it blow out even more mist and humidify even faster.
    The humidistat is also necessary. It's the only way to MAINTAIN the right humidity consistently and not have to regularly turn it on/off or come home or wake up to a dry room. Tbh I'm surprised he blew off the benefit of having one in the way that he did.
    The humidistat can be finicky on this unit but don't believe the reviews, it does work. The problem is the mist can fall down and go right back into the fan on the bottom where it measures humidity. I have mine on a little platform that raises it about a foot off the ground and it has fixed that problem. It also just kind of evens its self out over time even if it seems like its not quiet reading the humidity correctly immediately. It all averages out.
    I'll never again buy any humidifier where have to flip the reservoir over and unscrew a cap. Pffft
    Technology Connections has a super cool video breaking down the mechanics of different humidifiers which I recommend as a great follow up to this video if you're in the market for a new one.
    Personally, I recommend that last one shown in this video.

    I’ve been in the market for a new humidifier. I’ve had the levoit in my cart for months. I can not bring myself to buy another humidifier that consider a ‘bottom fill’. For as much as I use my humidifiers in the winter (I also have a central home humidifier set up,) I’d rather pay more for a top fill. That being said there are some that are too fill but also dismantle from the bottom, found those to leak. Really like those two top fills you showed! Thanks for the video!

    Hi, I find the humidifier hygrometer inaccurate, a difference of 15% compared to an oregon scientific hygrometer, less so with other digital hygrometers. Have you compared the humidity value with other hygrometers? Do you know other humidifiers with precise hygrometers? I was thinking of returning the SH8830.
    Thank you

    Love the video, super helpful, thanks so much for doing it. How do you manage to keep your house/flat dry whilst using humidifiers? Do you try to keep your apartment at a constant humidity or do you just turn them on for a couple hours or so? If all the time, what level and do you have trouble with mold and dust mites etc? Thanks in advance

    Hi. Thank you for the video. I myself also have Levoit lv600hh. Anyway, it's winter right here right now, so heaters are running inside the house and humidity levels are down to 33% usually. To make the humidity go up is by turning on this humidifier and levels go up. So my question would be, what is best mist setting (cool or warm) for tropical indoor plants like fiddle leaf fig and orange bird of paradise and Alocasia amazonica? Where will they thrive best or what do they really need..a warm or a cool mist? Or it doesn't matter?

      I think it really depends on the type of tap water you have in your area. The tap water in LA is very "hard", meaning it has high mineral content. These mineral deposits leave a chalky residue that could damage the humidifier components over time. The northeastern United States, in contrast, has relatively "soft" water, and using it straight from the tap would likely be less of an issue. Hope that helps!

    • @LegendsOfMonstera
      @LegendsOfMonstera  3 года назад

      I don’t think it’s necessary but you might get hard water buildup after awhile if you don’t. Not really sure if that reduces the lifespan of the machines.

    • @brandon23471
      @brandon23471 3 года назад +2

      Whether or not it's necessary will be a judgement call for you.
      These kinds of humidifiers, aka ultrasonic, put not only water into the air, but anything else that is in the water. So if you are using tap water, you will be putting calcium and other particulate into the air along with the mist. The effect could be less noticeable in a large room, but if you are using this kind in a small environment, like a grow tent, your walls, fans, plants, light, etc will become coated in a white dust. You can avoid this by using distilled or reverse osmosis filtered water which is just pure water, but that can be a little of a hassle or costly. Charcoal or other filtering methods can help, but won't eliminate the dust issue.
      If your water has low sediment, you might not notice or care. If it's a concern, you can look up evaporative humidifiers, which don't produce white dust, but have some additional maintenance costs with running the unit. I prefer evaporative type humidifiers personally, simply for the fact they don't produce white dust.
      The dust can be eliminated one way or another, but it's all a cost tradeoff.

      @@brandon23471 thank you for the reply. I live in an area where the water is very hard and I have noticed many white spot on my shower door so I think I will try to use the filtered water but again it seems like a bit of work. Thank you again!

    WHO needs a humidifier? If you keep a lot of plants, THEY humidify the air!

      Whatcha talking about? A lot of plant hobbyists keep tropical plants which are not adapted to thrive in drier climates outside the tropics. Clumping a lot of plants together isn’t enough to mimic their native climate so yeah, humidifiers are commonly used amongst plant collectors.

    experts claim that you need to clean the humidifier every single day to avoid bacteria being emitted. So your claim that having a higher capacity that allows you to neglect maintenance is kind of misleading.
