Elijah was actually never the same after he killed Davina and Marcel. He was evil in S4, then he died then he erased his memory, then he was depressed, he only rly came back in 5x12 then he died.
He carried guilt for everyone that he’d killed and it only became a great sorrow for him when he killed people that his self and his family truly cared about

I literally rewatch tvd and to mostly just for Daniel Gilles (Elijah). Such a great actor and character. Rebekkah and Kol tied for my second favorites and then Klaus a close third. In my opinion.
It's weird knowing that the originals have never turned the humanity off because if the did war will happen, and I believe klaus did do it for 1000 of years because of Elijah
''that is why he was the very best of us'' coming from in klaus in 0:30 it is just WOOOOOOW ,and it's also the very truth about him. he just never got the happiness he should have had at the end but the death scene with klaus at the end was beautiful and made sense even tho he didn't get the ending we all wanted him to have with hayley. but i wish that they did meet in the after life , and stayed together him and her and klaus waiting for the family to reunite again.

I know he kills everyone who hurts his family even if its no necesary but i just love the way he protects all the woman he loved. I love the way he loves and the way he always cared for hope so deeply but just didnt show it. I always wished to have a brother like him. The acting is great though.
