@sirjcc maybe. I haven't seen a definitive blame list to know who's juice is all in there. Only read rumors. Came off to me like a regular, but more youthful, BT.
I’ve been saying the same thing. It’s a deep bitterness right in the center of my tongue. Sweet at first but wow bitter at the end. Now I need to give the rest away. Had one pour. Won’t have another.
I was at Buffalo Trace Distillery yesterday. They had this out everywhere. Could buy up to a case. I tried it and it was just meh. No bad but not worth $40. So I passed.
When you start saying things like "it's not bad for $xx", I start tuning out the rest of the discussion. I'm at the point of my life where I'll pay a little extra and get "pretty good". BT, Benchmark Full Proof and Cooper's Craft are all pretty good (to me) and well below that $40 range.

Traveller was sold out all around Lexington this weekend. Talked with guy at Total Wine who said they got 10 cases the day before and disappeared quickly. Found a bottle at a small store outside Lex that had a few bottles remaining. Was selling for 40 everywhere I went. Haven’t cracked yet because I’m gifting it to a friend. Cheers SLB!

I’ll definitely give this a try IF I can find it. BTW… give a listen to Chris Stapleton. He’s awesome! “Tennessee Whiskey”
It does say from Sazerac distilleries and they own in Canada... based on Disco 7 with 100% corn whiskey from Canada in the blend, giving it the "blended whiskey" designation, i have to believe it's something similar.
Went to a store and the Benchmark full proof was 20.99 and the regular benchmark no 8 was 22 made no sense but I was glad to finally find a full proof one
I got one in South Florida for MSRP. Light whiskey but I enjoyed it. Notes of vanilla and honey. Short finish. Good whiskey at MSRP but not worth more.

Whiskey schmiskey. What I can’t understand is how Trenton has never heard of Stapleton before. Country music fan or no the dude is arguably the most famous singer in the world for the last five years. His Super Bowl national anthem last year was the best of all time. Check out the Steeldrivers, Stapleton’s band prior to going solo. He is kind of country but mostly I’d put him in an Americana/Rock category. Ok, no more fan-boy ranting. 😂😂😂
BT is a favorite. No surprises there. I can't imagine ever buying a "traveler" bottle, no matter the story or artist involved, though. As for Benchmark, it's a good coke mixer. I'll pick it over Beam and Jack for that. Benchmark Single Barrel is actually a pretty good, cheap sipper for me - around $23 in SW Ohio when I see it. It's 95 proof, I think. YMMV.

Thanks for the video. As a country fan I would have bought it just to try it. But since it isnt bourbon, I will give it a pass for now. Reading in the comments that it contains Canadian whiskey (not a fan of it) kind of seals the deal.
Where I live in South Georgia the price on Buffalo Trace is all over the place if you can buy it from $ 39- $ 47. In our town I went to buy a back up bottle and the new store said that if I bought a bottle 1 bottle limit) of Buffalo Trace I would have to buy a bottle of Nue Vodka. I left the store without buying anything. I went to another store in my small town they had a 1 bottle limit also @ $ 47. I will look again when I go out of town for another bottle. I haven't seen The Traveler yet in our area.
I picked up a bottle today and I’m not disappointed. It looks nice sitting next to my other Buffalo Trace bottles. I’m lucky to be in Kentucky so finding popular spirits isn’t that difficult to hunt for. Actually this bottle was sitting next to a Lot B which was severely tempting..
I was in The Sazerac House on Magazine Street in New Orleans today. A rep from the Buffalo Trace Distillery was there and tried to sell me on their Traveler blended whiskey. I remembered your review as well as a few others and offered that word on RUclips is that stuff is not very good. 😂 I picked one up out of respect for the distillery info he gave us along with a Buffalo Trace, their Herbsaint, Meyer’s Single Barrel Rum and Sazerac De Forge Cognac. Paid $38.95 for the Traveler; Buffalo Trace was $25. 🤔
@@davidteller7681 incredible, but dont be fooled, ive seen stores with it here for $90. My store i buy them at $47 also givers 5% off 6 bottles or more. so i buy 6 at a time and they are $43.

At Buffalo Trace yesterday and got a bottle of Eagle Rare for $40. Also another $40 spent for Traveler. Just for the novelty but I wouldn't waste that much again on it. Viva! Eagle Rare though!!

Joking aside this feels like most of the sales are going to be regular bourbon drinkers afraid of missing out by not trying it (FOMO). So thanks for the review! I'm going to have to try burping into my glass during my next tasting.
I had a chance to buy it, but after tasting it I was like ehh. I ended up getting a Buffalo Trace Single Barrel Store Pick, which was $15 bucks cheaper.
I do trades a lot and when bottles get sent to me up here in Maine.. they look not as bad as that but yeah u gotta give it a day to get down to room temp 😂
I'm a little South of Atlanta. We can't even really find Buffalo Trace bottles here. I went to a new liquor store and they had a normal BT bottle for $65. I literally laughed and told them that they thought a lot of their BT. He chuckled and said, we only got one case and this is the last bottle. So I have no hopes of even seeing a Stapleton bottle.
This looks like a money-grab for Sazerac and Stapleton. I had a pour for $8 at my local bourbon bar and there’s no way this is a $40 bottle, but more like $20. I’m not surprised with the scarce details of the contents on the label or the fluff story on it either. I mean, Buffalo Trace even chill filter Eagle Rare 17, and that’s an over $100 bottle at srp. There’s just so much shadiness coming out of that entire Sazerac corporation.
It’s a bit thin even for the proof point. I’d say it lies more in the Canadian whiskey vein than it does anything else. Good to have around on the bar. But the BM and BT In the video are more flavorful. I’ve seen some flippers advertising it for $150-$200 which is crazy. This is a $25-$35 bottle at best.
Great review, I wnjoyed this bottle. Picked up a couple just sitting on the shelf at Total Wine for MSRP the day they were released. Now it seems to be a "hunted" bottle since its from Buffalo Trace
Its good. But I would not pay more than 39.99. There are way too many bottles out there that are at least the same level or better than this one. I would just tell folks dont get sucked into the hype
Buffalo Trace keeps alot of information from the public !! They are devious for sure and most of the stuff is overrated. That regular BT goes for 60.00 and is almost impossible to find where I live.
I tried to remain subjective when I tried my bottle, but was disappointed as many others were. For $40 I expect Buffalo Trace and Chris Stapleton to release a better product. Fair nose, light on the palate, and weak finish. Save your money and buy something else.
3:05 "It's not a bourbon, it's a whiskey." Bourbon *is* whisky. Surely you've seen on the label things like the statement on the bottle I'm drinking right now, Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon: Straight Bourbon Whisky. There's Scotch whisky, Irish whiskey, rye whiskey, corn whisky, Australian whiskey, Japanese whisky...and bourbon whiskey. There are also whiskies like this which don't fit into any category, so the label just says "whisky." My bottle of Sidewinder 4.2 is an example - it's a blend of bourbon and rye, so they can't call it either one, just whisky. 8:42 That's true, alas, but my (limited) experience with BT means that I wouldn't. I've had Buffalo Trace, and I've had Eagle Rare, and while they're both good, there whiskies out there that are just as good or better which cost about the same or less, and are a ton easier to find. If I have the choice between either of those two and Bluff Springs, Evan Williams BiB, or Mellow Corn, I'll take any of the latter, no hesitation.
Bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon. This stuff apparently doesn't give much information about its components or processing, so it seems pretty safe to assume it doesn't meet the standards to be called bourbon.
FYI one of Chris Stapletons hits is the classic song "Tennessee Whiskey" it's a great song and one you would probably enjoy, he was not the first to record that song but his version is what I think is the best version, he is very talented even if you are not a country fan..
I've heard almost exclusively negative things about it with the best comments being something along the lines of "eh, it's okay for beginners." I'm sure I'll taste it as some point, but I'm not paying for a bottle.
I picked up a bottle last night at Safeway for $38 and tasted a bit last night. A bit 'hot' with some sweetness on the palate. I will try again tonight, allergies have been kicking my butt a bit lately so my sense of smell and taste are a bit 'off'. I was surprised to see a few cases on display, finding new releases here in Hawaii is tough!
For the love of all that is holy folks, STOP comparing this to bourbon. It's not bourbon. It doesn't claim to be bourbon. It has some bourbon in it, but it's most likely a majority Canadian whiskey that would be called "Light Whiskey" in the US, which is made pretty much exactly the same way Scotch is made. This is not going to have a comparable set of flavors to any reasonable bourbon on the market. But it isn't trying to be a bourbon! It's a blend of bourbon and Scotch-like whiskey. I live in a place where Buffalo Trace is still allocated. When a case or two shows up, it's gone in a couple hours. We only get the original bottom-tier Benchmark because the other ones aren't distributed in our state. Hell, Early Times BiB isn't even available in our state. I say all this because what I found when I tasted Traveller is a very easy-drinking, somewhat simple but not boring whiskey that is great for throwing in a glass when you want some whiskey that isn't going to blow you away with proof or make you think about it too much, while still being reasonable in price and AVAILABLE. When you just want a pour that has some vanilla, honey, a tiny bit of fruitiness, and a touch of oak after a long day at work, and don't want to think about your whiskey, this is perfect. As a daily drinker, this whiskey is fantastic: easier to drink than Jack, Jim, or any bottom-shelf bourbon, more available than Buffalo, and cheaper than Michter's or Knob. To me, it's a great bottle to have on the shelf. If you're a bourbon snob and just want to look down your nose at other types of whiskey, sure, this probably isn't for you. If you have some irrational dislike for Canadian whiskey (hope you don't drink Whistlepig!), sure, this probably isn't for you. And if you think that $35-$40 is too much for a more simple daily drinker, sure, this probably isn't for you. But for those of us that just enjoy whiskey this is a completely fine product at a completely fine price, and since I can actually buy it, I will likely keep a bottle on my shelf most of the time.
I went to BT this last Wednesday and I had a taste of this at the gift shop. I told the BT rep what my thoughts were after he asked my buddy and I’s opinions and he definitely didn’t like the fact that I told him it would be a good intro Whiskey to non drinkers 😂
Great video... as someone else mentioned... not too likely to be found in PA but I'll keep my eyes open. Be interested in some "proofpoint" blind shootouts. Like your price point ones... but do 80-89, 90-99, BiB/100, 101-109, 110-120, 120-130, and 130-140. Then a winner's blind maybe with 1-4 "wild cards" that you can let through at your discretion when theres a hard choice for #1 in any blind.
It tastes like they were going to put out another benchmark and decided to partner with someone. Its not terrible, but for 36 bucks I needed some finish.
Ohio Liquor control got a big allocation of Weller Antique and Travellers that was put out this Saturday and I couldn't believe people were actually looking for and grabbing Travellers over Weller antique

Benchmark is 19.99 for a 1.75 in Florida
$25.00 MSRP would of been a HIT for that Celebrity Whiskey, 🥃Cheers my friend @SLB Drinks
I tried to remain subjective when I tried my bottle, but was disappointed as many others were. For $40 I expect Buffalo Trace and Chris Stapleton to release a better product. Fair nose, light on the palate, and weak finish. Save your money and buy something else.
Next video - Traveller vs Stella.
it will be in your local Total wine and more. i got mine there.
You seem confused.
@@rrmfly89 ❓
Bourbon is whiskey, but not all whiskey is bourbon. This stuff apparently doesn't give much information about its components or processing, so it seems pretty safe to assume it doesn't meet the standards to be called bourbon.
I feel like he’s lying about not knowing Chris Stapleton. He wants to sounds like a hipster or something lol.
Didn't know Chris Stapleton. Shame 😂
Worth 15$, not 40$. Just okayish for mixers.
I think I will just go with Benchmark 😜
Hard to mix up those "B" glasses.
So basically this is kinda Buffalo Trace's version of Basil Hayden
I really like it...I am newer to bourbon but I really enjoy it..I also just got my first bottle of Old forester 1920 and...😲😲😲 it's AMAZING!
Waiting on a celebrity to come out with their own gallon of milk line.. whole, 2%, 1% and special fat free.
I have one and agree its a really good 40.00 bottle since were are huge Stapleton fans that just adds
It's not bad, for the price it's a everyday sip. Nothing more
Caramel water … in a good way though
😆 I would never take a traveler's over antique
$39.99 here in south Louisiana. Local supermarket chain has at least 6-8 cases per larger location. Very available. I tried with BT. I will wait for your opinions bf my comment.
