Pappy 15 is hands down the easiest to sample of those INSANE pours!! 95 OFC and last drops are unicorn in every way. And then to consistently mispronounce Blanton’s after allegedly taking the tour is mind blowing. Regardless, I’m just a jealous dude on the internet haha. Honestly though, thank you for sharing! Buffalo Trace is such a huge part of American History.

We drove down, took tours, and then had a private tasting where we selected 2 barrels to be bottled just for our store, Kahn's Fine Wines. It was a great day, and the owner paid for everything.

But I've had numerous BT products and none of those were worthy of the hype surrounding them or the inflated prices at which you almost always see them. For every product in their line below Stagg Jr, there are MANY offerings from other distillers that are easily as good or better and are not inflated and overhyped. I can't speak to the VW line or BTAC products as I've not had any of them. But just look at the basic Buffalo Trace. 15 years ago it was considered a bottom shelf mixer and readily available for about $15 anywhere. But then PVW was in Deadwood, and Blanton's with it's fancy bottle was in John Wick, and BOOM...an artificial hype-train left the station. A store within walking distance of me has basic BT for 45 DOLLARS for a 750. Utterly absurd. Now, I typically enjoy my bourbon at a minimum of 100 proof. So the EHT Small Batch Bottled in Bond would be the only BT product I have bought in that range. Was it good? Sure, wasn't bad. But not worth the inflated price I paid. I tasted it next to Wild Turkey 101 and there was no significant taste difference. As for my tops? I can only speak to what I've had/bought. Booker's, Elijah Craig Barrel Proofs, and Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof are all on the list. Stagg Jr (or just Stagg now I guess) might be up there as the one time I had it for a reasonable price for a pour in a bar I thought it was great. But I've also never seen it for less than $150 for a bottle and that's about three times retail and just silly. Look, I" don't begrudge BT for the success they've enjoyed. I couldn’t disagree more. Pappy is only a 300 dollar bottle msrp it’s not that rare. I’d definitely like to try the other that nobody’s ever herd of.

It is a good bourbon but it is hard to get and over priced in the north east so I buy other bourbons that just as good and always available.
