I use it a lot! and the cpu, I feel the biggest issue is the battery life compared to the snapdragon
the problem with that is this is not new, Samsung has always done this. the only reason it's a problem now is that the performance is so different. These devices take so long to make that they can't just turn on a dime like I'm sure everyone wants. But Samsung is making strides with improving their chips, we just won't see it till next year at min.
Chris Bailey I think the problem is that Samsung Exynos overheat and lag due to their mongoose core. They can just not add their mongoose core and use arm cpu and it should be fine. I don’t really care if snapdragon is more powerful or faster than Exynos. As long as the Exynos doesn’t overheat or lag then I’m fine with a inferior processor.
Sorry Samsung, living in Europe means I have to give my money to your competitors, as I refuse to pay that price and have the processor swapped out for a lawnmower engine, giving a sub par overall experience, including shafting battery life in a big way...

Super nice review. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G offers pretty much every feature any phone owner could want. It has a gorgeous screen, classy hardware, wicked performance, good battery life, and capable cameras. It's also huge, heavy, and as pricey as they come 😎😎😎
Great review. I pre-ordered mine soon as they were announced, needed to upgrade my note 9. Not overly fussed about the processor difference as exynos will still perform well enough and with todays smart plans you can always upgrade when a better version comes out. Battery has always been crap on the notes so nothing new for me. Big nice screen, good camera coupled with s pen and xbox gamepass makes it worth it for me.
Being from Europe (Netherlands), next to MKBHD's review, I waited for this review too, to hear what you have to say about the performance of this phone. Alright, on with the review!
Getting pretty frustrated now about the Exynos situation. Ready to buy a new phone but just can't do it knowing its inferior to the snapdragon model. Damn you Samsung.
Ive used both phones for a couple to three days each, and i can say that there's no big difference. Sure, if you're a heavy gamer or a heavy user, you might experience some heat and/or throttling, but for simple everyday use (casual instagram, youtube, messenger and whatnot) its still an amazing phone. The exynos variant surely is inferior, but still a beast. When the swap between my SD and Exynos happened, i barely noticed a difference, if someone didnt tell me the switch happened, i wouldnt even have noticed! I think people are frustrated because you pay same price for less performance, but at the end of the day, both exynos and sd are incredibly good-performing and well-built for everyday use!

I think one of the things to bear in mind is that, when you're reflecting on whether it’s worth to upgrade, the vast majority of users are not thinking about upgrading if they're on the Note 10+, or the S20 Ultra. Most people upgrade every two years. I'm on the S9 Plus right now, and I'll be upgrading to the Note 20U, and I think that's more representative of when most people upgrade their phones
Thank you for posting such a comprehensive review. I appreciate all the comparison shots, and you managed to really illustrate the differences, as well as highlight the specs. Thanks again, best note 20 review I have watched so far (and I have watched them all)LOL.
Hey Tom, do you think the camera needs to have a protector installed on it? Although I want to protect it I also don't want to compromise the quality of pictures
Compared with the scores of Snapdragon and Exynos, I think the important thing is whether there is a difference between battery life and the experience of taking pictures and playing games
I'm fully aware of the Exynos vs Snapdragon issue, but I have yet to have any issues with the Exynos devices and I had every damn Note in existence. I know I'm getting worse performance, but the performance I get is always top tier, especially the battery life.
Hi, it was my first time watching your video. i liked the way you explained, although it was not best comparison video but totally the explanation had a natural flavor... in a different and nice way, that's why i just hit the subscribe button and liked your video!
Do you know if there would be any UK compatibility issues ordering the Note 20 Ultra from either USA or Hong Kong, to get Snapdragon 865+ at all? I've read some Q&A from a Hong Kong retailer that indicates VOLTE and Samsung Pay won't work outside of HK for example.
I've looked at doing the same thing through wondamobile, but yes VOLTE and Samsung Pay wont work in the UK, also your warranty through Samsung will not be valid so you have to rely on the warranty provided by the retailer. Based on that it's a no go for me.
@@robertstewart9886 the US model adds about £170 to the price for import robbery tax etc, but you get no freebies either and similarly with warranty you'd need to send it back to the States at your cost. I'm going to wait to see if the lagging is a huge issue for me or not when my UK version arrives at the weekend. I charge my tech daily most of the time anyway to start each day on full charge.
Weird question, but can you use your note 20 ultra as a remote if using on it on a Samsung or LG tv anyhow? Not just with Dex? I cant currently use a tv you see, as due to my disabilty I have no movement from below my neck down (so I cannot use a remote, even the ones with voice control as they require pressing a button). I can use a mouthstick stylus to use my phone (Note 8) so figured if there was an app or way to use it as a remote with a smart tv that would be great. I'm not currently going to buy a smart tv unless I can find a way to use one handsfree either with voice control or a remote app.
@@Competitief true. If they don't like it they can just not buy it. It's not like Samsung is ignoring them considering the big change in Exynos next year.

Do remember that there are also 2 versions of Exynos: one with 12gb ram for European market and one with 8gb for Asian market. Last year’s Note10+ got 12gb all across the board. And the price is prohibitively expensive, more so given the economic in these times. 8/256 version is now priced the same as last year’s 12/512 note10+. Talk about getting the shortest end of the stick here.
Tried it hands on today. Mystic bronze is basically Rose Gold from Apple, yet a bit duller. If you have a S10 series and beyond you're not missing out on anything. Hate the S pen on the left side, really uncomfortable
does the new note also have the screen burn in problem???..cause I'm done dealing with it in my note 10 plus which occurred within 3months after buying.
Fantastic to see you really take it up to Samsung regarding the exynos debacle... No other reviewers seem to have the balls to do it? I wish American reviewers would mention they have a better model than the rest of the world to not confuse people, as many from the rest of the world believe they'll be getting the same model whuch they're not. Great review. Is there room for an SD card in addition to the dual SIM or is it still one or the other á la the Note 8?
7:57 "that's pretty noteworthy", I see what you did there...
Thanks for review ! :) Good content!
Yeah, I upgrade every three years so no matter what people say, its always a substantial upgrade
You are amazing!
I love watching your opinion
Let the reviews begin!!!
Thank you for posting such a comprehensive review. I appreciate all the comparison shots, and you managed to really illustrate the differences, as well as highlight the specs. Thanks again, best note 20 review I have watched so far (and I have watched them all)LOL.
I am in EU, and I would only buy it if I could get Snapdragon version. Exynos version I won't even consider it.
Hey Tom, do you think the camera needs to have a protector installed on it? Although I want to protect it I also don't want to compromise the quality of pictures
I love your wallpaper!
Can we just appreciate how charming that man is? 🤪
Gay?
i continue to enjoy your videos chap. your killing it. awesome setup. your style is exciting. keep it up buddy.
4:07 that was from unbox therapy
And I didn't see the difference
But the note 20 vanilla was a bit more zoomed out
Do you know if there would be any UK compatibility issues ordering the Note 20 Ultra from either USA or Hong Kong, to get Snapdragon 865+ at all? I've read some Q&A from a Hong Kong retailer that indicates VOLTE and Samsung Pay won't work outside of HK for example.
I've looked at doing the same thing through wondamobile, but yes VOLTE and Samsung Pay wont work in the UK, also your warranty through Samsung will not be valid so you have to rely on the warranty provided by the retailer. Based on that it's a no go for me.
@@robertstewart9886 did you research the US options? An adviser from the US Samsung site just informed me there would be zero issues.
@@jasonduncanscott9565 Oh right, interesting! No I havent actually. I assumed that wondamobile was the US model but I see it's the Hong Kong one...
Tbh I'm tempted to just avoid the hassle and just accept that it's the Exynos here, will still be miles better than my current Note 8.
1300€ for Exynos. Haha NEVER!
Done with my pre-order already.
Yes, exynos version.
Couldn't help myself.
Same, most of the people that are whining about exynos are not even planning on buying a phone.
@@Competitief true. If they don't like it they can just not buy it. It's not like Samsung is ignoring them considering the big change in Exynos next year.
@@AFT2 They spend like 4 hours a day typing shit about it, they're just obsessed with the phone 🤣
EU Stan fuck every con the exynos have to the sd+ ,but the battery draining faster is really a pain in the ass
@@Competitief exactly. I was saving up for it. Finally it's here. Apart from the battery draining issue (which I'm hoping would get better with updates) I'm not that much worried. Exynos or Sd+ it's a beast of a phone without doubt.
I currently have the Note 10 plus and I am upgrading to this Note 20 Ultra in 2 weeks time. Purely because I get a better deal in terms of data and somehow it works out cheaper. Excited to try out the camera, got some cracking photos on my Note 10 plus.
Love the Samsung Note phones, would never change.
Everyone: This has a bad processor. Not going to buys *riot riot riot*
Me who doesn't care about the processor: hmmmmmm...i think I'll be able to buy this phone in 2050 (IF we get past this 2020 somehow)
Hi there great vid, would you say its worth upgrading from a galaxy s10+?
I went for OnePlus as soon as I've heard we're getting Exynos again!
When I'm typing the letters are coming up on speaker and I don't like everybody knowing what I'm typing can you help me put it back to the way it was before every time it gets a new update on my phone and yes I bought it at a shop brand spank a new every time I get a new update something changes on my phone and I dislike that reason can you help me put it back to what it's supposed to be thanks
Imagine not having a snapdragon lol
Hope u get to that 1M subs as fast as possible your content is really great
You look absolutely horrifying in those night selfies 🤣🤣🤣
that's just my normal face ;)
I LOVED this new style of video Tom 😊 Keep it up lad!
nice exynos review! i'm thinking of upgrading to that from my current Huawei mate 10. Thinking if it's worth it?
Do remember that there are also 2 versions of Exynos: one with 12gb ram for European market and one with 8gb for Asian market. Last year’s Note10+ got 12gb all across the board. And the price is prohibitively expensive, more so given the economic in these times. 8/256 version is now priced the same as last year’s 12/512 note10+. Talk about getting the shortest end of the stick here.
Lte is 8gb, 5G 12GB.
Hey! @The Tech Chap, thanks for the shoutout! Subscribed.
and thank you for your comment!
Hi, is it worth upgrading from Samsung galaxy note 9?
Tried it hands on today. Mystic bronze is basically Rose Gold from Apple, yet a bit duller.
If you have a S10 series and beyond you're not missing out on anything.
Hate the S pen on the left side, really uncomfortable
Hey Tom, I was wondering, do you get any overheating or throttling on the Exynos variant?
Fab video, love this format!
Thinking of upgrading to the Note20 Ultra from my ZTE Axon 7
*Should I pull the trigger?
Great video and love the QA format.
does the new note also have the screen burn in problem???..cause I'm done dealing with it in my note 10 plus which occurred within 3months after buying.
Is there any lag using wireless DeX for productivity? How's the battery consumption with DeX wireless?
Where do you get your wallpapers?
Nice review!!!
It's almost false advertising by Samsung.
Great review! Something new in the review! Liked this format more and yeah thanks for including my name 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Great review thank you. Can I learn the camera you are vlogging with, the footage looks great.
Should I buy IPhone 12 not pro or Samsung note 20 ultra on snapdragon?
