    No, cubing is still not dying in any way. We’re just entering a new era, people get older and find interest in different things in life all the time. Also, I have no problem with you using a style of content that works and then repeating it, however making another video like this doesn’t do anything positive for the community

      Of course, everyone is going to get bored at some point and move on, but that's where we need new and exiting RUclipsrs to come onto the scene (like yourself) and get people back into it.
      The intent of this video isn't to harm the community, rather to reply to the many comments that the original got in a more concise/easily digestible way.

    I think that you might want to actually do research in trends like amount of new comers and people joining the hobby every year. It’s still increasing exponentially. I think that this style of video is so negative and harms the community especially beginners who just started. You can’t hide bad content behind a wall of good editing

      Fair enough. All of my points are just theories on why cubing might be dying. Nothing is a definite reason and the intent isn’t to harm the community. It’s just this was a simple and easy way to get back into cubing content after taking a break.

    As of right now, I still cube a lot and work on videos when I’m not busy, but don’t watch cubing content (except for world class solve videos) as much as I used to. The Beluga Cubing “Skits” (in my opinion) left a huge scar on cubing videos attention spans with their fast cuts and flashy editing. I believe that’s what made the bigger cubing creators take a break, since there longer videos weren’t getting recommended as much as the fast stuff. As for the competitive side, I think Yiheng didn’t end it, since there are events that he can’t solve or is slower at, which is where other cubers come in. I also haven’t been paying much attention to new cube releases since the Guhong Pro, but I’m a bit excited to try Gan’s new 5x5x5. Since I’ve also been away from the cubing scene, I wouldn’t say it’s dying, but people aren’t receiving much updates because they’ve been away.

    • @UK_Cuber
      @UK_Cuber  5 месяцев назад +2

      I didn't think about that at all but it makes a lot of sense. I guess when the older creators saw their watch times decreasing (potentially due to the "skit" style videos) it could have caused them to not want to continue.
      On the competitive side, it's nice that there are other people dominating other events so that it's not just run by one person but considering the majority of cubers care the most about 3x3, it is slightly worrying.

    Just so you know I watched both videos all the way through.
    And I think it’s ludicrous to say any community is “dying.” Like: if a community for a certain video game gets fewer people, like among us for example, then many people will say “this game is dead” just because the game is less popular. But the servers still run people still play it, and there are many updates and mods that make the game BETTER.
    The cubing community is like that; competitions still run, we have constant improvements in hardware, especially with side events, we have new discoveries made that improve solving methods (like OPA on 4x4, and the popularity with APB) we have non-WCA speed solving and new better puzzles THERE(diansheng’s gigaminx, and I heard they’re making an FTO soon), I could go on.
    My point is: is the cubing community shrinking? Maybe. I haven’t looked at statistics so I wouldn’t know. Are some people getting bored? Of course! People get bored of hobbies and move on all the time.
    Is cubing dying though? No. It’s healthy and it’s improving constantly

    • @UK_Cuber
      @UK_Cuber  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for watching both before leaving a comment! It's surprising how many people gave their opinions before watching the video! It seems like with that example, it *could* be argued that cubing is dying but I guess if there are still lots of people still enjoying it, then cubing is still alive.
      Yeah, people will get bored of any hobby so that makes sense. But if nothing changes, could we see cubing continue to decline to a point of no return? Who knows!

    Let's talk about this video
    first off you talk about youcubing, and how supposedly when you started scripting the video, most buig youcubers weren't uploading? And your reason for not changing the script is because you thought no one would watch the video. So you're saying it's ok to lie to a smaller audience? Absolutely not true. Also I love how when you talk about youcubing, you purposely leave out Souptimmy, who's been growing really quickly on youtube. With that said, let's talk about some youcubing stats, viewership Because although some of these youcubers weren't the most active, viewers were still watching their content:
    SoupTimmy: gained almost 2 million subs in 1 year (double his sub count)
    Jperm: ~250k subs in 1 year, over 100 mil views in 1 year
    Arisandra Soo: gained ~225k subs in 1 month (originally had ~25k)
    Cubehead: gained: gained ~400 k subs in 1 year with ~ 225 million views in 1 year
    Tingman: gained ~200k subs in 1 year, with ~ 130 million views in 1 year
    cuberzn: ~100k subs in 1 year, 46 million views in 1 year (more than double his views from before)
    cuberzn short: ~197k subs in 1 year, 111 mils in 1 year
    TheCubicle: steady 50k growth in 1 year, 20 mil views in 1 year
    There's also a youcuber from southeast asia who hit 1 mil subs, don't remember his channel name though
    will admit tnlcubing, cyoubx, cubesolvehero, and cubingencoded didn't grow subs cause they didn't really upload.
    So with that said youcubing is absolutely growing.
    And with that said, yes, I will agree some people are quitting cubing, but at the same time there are so many more new cubers coming in at the same time.

    • @UK_Cuber
      @UK_Cuber  5 месяцев назад

      So they are growing but... there is no new content. Which means that all of the people who have already watched the videos will likely have nothing to watch anymore. Therefore all of the older cubers who are not so new to these RUclipsrs will get easily bored of having to watch the same old content or not watching any cubing content at all. Also, all of these new subscribers who are watching and enjoying their videos are going to be so disappointed when they realise that none of them upload anymore.

      Such as talking about tv3 being the last "popular cube" with no stats to back it up

    You avoided the main points people were making in the video, though the points you did address, firstly that ? Thing does not apply to all of RUclips, because they are just trying to get clicks, they aren’t actually asking a question, but you were.
    Secondly if you put off making a video for months it might be a good idea to review the script and see if anything has changed.
    Also you’re cherry picking easy responses, you ignored most things like organizers like myself having to organize more competitions that are bigger to compensate for the growing community.
    Also most of the community doesn’t only practice 3x3, I see why you quit, because you were boring and only practiced one event, but the rest of us know how to actually enjoy a hobby
    Lastly congrats, you got a bunch of views for your terrible takes, though if you’re a niche RUclipsr for a specific community if you make the community hate you then they’re not going to watch your future videos, for example I used to watch your videos, but after this shit why would I continue to support you, and I know for a fact that many other people in the community think the same way because I have talked to other people that I know about it

    • @UK_Cuber

      I think that with the question mark, there are so many examples of creators asking a question within the title to try and get more people to watch. That is something that has been around on youtube for such a long time.
      Yes, I fully agree. I should've reviewed the script to ensure it was up to date. I made a mistake, my bad.
      I mean, if I'm making a video on why I think cubing might be dying it would be wrong to show the reasons that disagree with my point. Can you imagine if a world leader finished a speech with why they aren't the best candidate! It just wouldn't work.
      I understand that you are likely to stop watching my channel now, and that makes sense. But there are a significant amount of people who agree with this video (and the original). My point wasn't to annoy everyone, I'm just giving *my opinion* on why cubing *might* be dying. This isn't a *definite reason* why cubing *is* dying.
