Hi good video and experience. Thanks for describing your thought through the repair process. This video is more like an overview I guess. I am looking something more precise: how to dismount the HV battery, how to disassemble battery blocks and take out particular cells, how to map the diagram of kia soul spy to the physicals cells etc. Perhaps you have already in your channel - I will go and check. Definitely like for this video.

Better this than leaking coolant inside battery pack in Ford Focus electric (2013-2016).

From following Bjorns videos, it seems the Soul is great for urban and in-range trips, but suffers a bit on long trips with multiple rapid charges. I do wonder if all the Souls being seen with damaged batteries have been used for long, high speed trips, as my 2016 has 96.8% SOH at around 65-70,000 KM; and this hasnt dropped in the 2 years, 10-15,000 KM I have put on the car.
    (Estimates, as I use miles).
I only make a few out of range trips per year, and cruise at 100KPH, as the brick-like nose causes big drops in efficiency over that speed.
I 100% slow charge once per month at 3KW, to balance the cells, and even a normal home charge, I set my charger to 5.5KW, rather than full power, and to 80% only.
My 27KWh battery has maintained 26.1 KWh of storage over those 2 years, actually gaining nearly 0.5KWh over the initial state I bought it in, as the cells badly needed a balance; my min/max voltage variation is only +/- 0.01volts, and my worst cell has 10.8% degradation.
High speed driving and high speed charging both cause high temperatures, especially in a few banks of the battery pack that are difficult to cool.

Has the 2018 30kWh batteries been any better from your experience? Mine hasn't degraded much but I don't fast charge often and keep the battery under 80% most of the time. Also, I've subscribed :) Keep up the great work!

If you are in the US it has a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty on the battery. Had my 2016’s battery replaced for free 2 years ago.
I think they actually upgraded me, because now my range always reads 120 miles after a full charge.

In Europe 80000km and 8 years. Warranty is excluded if you miss any oil change filter change ex…. And it is excluded if car shuts down during 0% driving.

@@evclinic Ah that's a bummer. It's weird when the US has a better consumer benefit than Europe, usually it's the other way around. But I guess it's because we have a heavy car culture here and they wanted to build consumer confidence in EVs. Most cars don't have a 10 year warranty here though.
Well at least with an EV you won't have to worry about missing an oil change.
